Kattengat 1, Amsterdam, North Holland
0.4 mi from
The location is perfect, walking distance from the train. We also walked both days from the hotel through the neighborhoods to the museum district and back. The breakfast and cocktail receptions were an added benefit.
nothing Had booking confirmation in-hand. Manager asked a ton of questions, asked me to email her the confirmation, wasted a half hour till she finally told me the reservation cannot be honored because their reservation system was already closed, meaning they overbooked and refused my reservation after I already showed up at the hotel. They wasted my time. They were rude. They tried to blame me even though all i did was book online. They provided no assistance in getting a different room in the city. Awful experience. BE CAREFULL ON BUSY NIGHTS, THEY OVERBOOK.
Just about everything
very good location
The Pulitzer was recently redesigned and it exceeded my expectations in almost every way. The location can't be beat. It's in a very smart area in Amsterdam with great bars, shops, and restaurants nearby. The design of the hotel is very chic. The interior courtyard garden is amazing. Everything was perfect except service at restaurant Jansz. Everyone was well intended but some people (hostess) abandoned post for several minutes and people were left waiting to be received and, &! My case, to collect my coat. This is one area of operation to inspect. Otherwise, everything was so perfect. I've stayed also at the Dylan hotel and Waldorf and I would say that this hotel is better than Waldorf because the design is so smart and not generic like Waldorf. And I would say it's equal to the Dylan. Dylan is also chic but has a more classic design inspiration. Stay here while it's still affordable. I imagine rates will increase once reviews and bookings start coming in.
Excellent location. Little noisy, little dirty:)
Outstanding location. Excellent staff. We would use it again and plan to have FREIND's stay there in August
Good colours, style of reception and breakfastroon was pleasant, fireplace at receiption were really nice. No fitness room at the hotel. Wholefloor carpet is not same style than other things. Corridors ugly.
very friendly staff.
We loved the location. It was excellent. Close to Dam Square and to the railway central station. We could walk everywhere. The reception staff was nice The room was very very small. No closet for our clothes. Just a tiny narrow and short place to hang a few shirts. No place in the bathroom even for putting a towel while showering. The WiFi didn't work for 95% of the time.
Great atmosphere Small bed
My single room was tiny. It was impossible to see the television from the bed. In the evening, the lobby turned into a very crowded and noisy nightlife venue. Because of the crowd, it was difficult to get in and out of the hotel. Would never stay here again.
The Staff were amazing and the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
warm and friendly welcome. Smaller room but cleen and beautiful. Nice breakfest and Special interior design. Room a bit small
This hotel was in a great location and had very friendly staff. The room set up was a little strange. The bathroom was all glass and lacked privacy. The bed was also placed strangely with the foot of the bed against the wall. This was a very clean hotel, and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.
staff cleanliness, old bathroom, dirty old carpets all over the hotel
Such a wonderful hotel, with the most friendly staff we came across in our 2 months in Europe. The hotel is in a great location, near everything but also in a quiet spot. The staff were so helpful and friendly, right from our first step into the lobby. Our room had a wonderful canal view and was huge compared to other places. We ate a bountiful breakfast every morning and had a sound nights sleep every night. We would highly recommend Hotel New Amsterdam for anyone intending to visit the city!!!!
It had a door. Bed was too small and i am only 5'9." It was positioned sideways against the wall. When lying down, my head and feet touched the walls simultaneously. The mattress was too softy and offered zero support. Even sitting on it was uncomfortable, because I would slide off the side due to the mattress sinking under my weight (175lbs). After a long day of international travel, this was the last thing I needed. I ended up sleeping on the floor. The rooms are advertised as being air conditioned. My room was not and the staff confirmed that there was no a/c in any of the rooms. There is a small dusty fan in my room which barely moved any air. I would not recommend this hotel. There are better listings for this price nearby. I should've chosen one of those instead.
