Great geographic location Fee parking for the car Fitting out of the hotel entry not indicated on website. Worse soundproofing of the room windows.
Nothing !!! Center of Amsterdam
The hotel was pretty fine, clean and with good style. Very close to the center. The room was big enought for all family. We didn't got any breakfast at hotel, but during the boat cruise, the stop is very close to the hotel. Miss the boiler for have some tea in the room. The remote control of TV almost died.
central position for visiting amsterdam Impersonal feeling with pseudo design furniture
very comfortable bed and soft sheets front door was not working so had to use side door
Location and staff Internet services not included in package
location There internet.
hotel staff and clean the Spa
good location, great comfortable beds and nice gym and sauna area
soft and comfirtable bed You have to pay for everything such as internet, phone calls, TV, etc. Service was poor. Prices are relatively much higher than other similar hotels.
we enjoyed the service & stlye of the staff, the room was out of this world with the most comfortable bed & fantastic views from the balcony, the location was ideal for what we wanted & would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Recent upgrade of room made it very dark.(colour and curtains) Central heating made noise for most of night.
The location is perfect and the American Bar is the ideal place to hang out for a few hours in the evening. I would like to see more variety on the food menu in the bar.
It is comfortably situated near public transport services and the city centre. Its value for money was less than poor. It boasted an incredibly expensive breakfast, admittedly including sparkling wine, which for my purpose of stay, however, was totally redundant. With the no more than fair comfort offered, the price ought to have included a humble breakfast as well as complimentary Internet access for hotel guests.
close proximity to tourist destinations. Hotel was within walking distance of major tourist attractions.
Great location - couldn't be better!
Fantastic position and quality of facilities Nothing
Centraly located, tram stop, restaurants and shops straight outside the door
hotel staffs are very helpful, the room is great, clean and comfortable. we booked double room, it's big! the location is great, easy to go to station or airport, we can catch the bus just in front of the hotel. nothing
Pretty good overall. Very nice cafe-restaurant in the same building. Outrageous internet fee and even worse service when you wnat to use hotel computers
A truly spectacular property, beautifully fitted, with attentive, friendly but not overly intrusive staff. Amsterdam is a great place to visit; this hotel is almost reason enough on its own. I stayed there twice on the same trip. The first time we upgraded to a suite, and it was beautiful, really a place to relax in and feet at home. The second stay I was alone and had a regular room. It was tiny, but entirely functional. Both rooms were street facing with large windows. The bar is lovely, as well. Be sure to try one (or two or three) of their great gin and tonics. It is rather pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
Close te citycenter Bed en cushions to soft. Bad smell
Location and staff were great. Breakfast although pricey was huge! Very decent! Very clean and comfy bed. Room was modern although the "non-divided"/private bathroom may be an issue to non-couples. Some of the toiletries where empty.
From a tourist perspective the location of this hotel is very good indeed, it is just metres from the great galleries and Vondel Park, and close to Jordaan. The #197 trolley bus around the corner opposite the Van Gogh museum takes you to Schiphol in 30 minutes for 5 euro (pay as you get on), every 1/4 hour, and trams #2 and #5 take you to the main railway station. Despite being on the relatively busy Stadhoudekade street, the hotel is quiet. The rooms are clean, very comfortable, slightly but not overly cramped, idiosyncratic in design, with air conditioning that works. The staff are intelligently helpful, switched on, and very pleasant. I think that is a Dutch thing anyway. I took the 'with breakfast' option. I recommend it. All this comes in at about $210/night per room including taxes. There are plenty of cheaper places around but if you are in Amsterdam for a couple of days and want a faultless, quiet, reliable, central place to stay, this is a good candidate to consider, and worth the money if you have it. The only thing that I wasn't keen on was the Momo restaurant that is attached to the hotel. It is a Sushi only restaurant, so if Sushi is not what you want, too bad. We ate there one evening and while the Sushi itself was no doubt excellent, it was expensive for what it was - as in my opinion Sushi tends to be. If you like a rank of chefs attending minutely to each bite, and lots of pretty waitresses regularly asking if you need anything, or don't really mind about the cost, that's fine, enjoy it and pony up liberally at the end. Otherwise, don't come to this place too hungry, or with kids, this one is for the up-market purists. There are better places nearby, serving quality food of other types for quite a lot less.
Staff at reception and night porters were very helpful and friendly. The 'living room' area is well designed to be modern yet comfortable, the range of books available to look at was excellent. The location is excellent - Leidseplein is a stone's throw away and there are lots of really great places to eat. The Museums are also just around the corner, and tramlines are a 5 minute walk away. Sometimes we had to wait quite a while for our presence to be acknowledged and orders taken in the 'living room'. Also, a couple of times staff entered our room after hardly knocking or giving us time to reply! I think the rates are quite expensive when you consider that they do not include breakfast and the charge for web access is huge!
The location is perfect. We recieved a warm welcome upon arrival, and was please try suprised at the accomodations. The bed was very comfortable, view perfect, and the room size would meet or exceed any standards. Literally the best location for a brief walk to vo delpark, museums, de hallen, red light district, and tram stops. There is no pool, but for us we didn't care. The lobby was warm, as is standard in most of holland, but rooms are well air conditioned.
Location is great. Clean Standard rooms are a bit small but great for a couple. Staff is very professional. Concierge is great with recommendations
Next door to museums and across the street from canal, cruises and casino Very helpful and professional staff and excellent restaurant on site (MOMO). Clean, well appointed room of adequate size. Highly recommend Road traffic could be heard but not a significant negative
The location was excellent for visiting the Museums and good selection of cafes and restaurants nearby. Canal boat trips right outside hotel entrance. The room was cramped and somewhat claustrophobic. The cost of the room was far too expensive for the size and no breakfast included.
MOMO I was not happy at all with the bed and I ended sleeping on the floor because the matress was really bad.I paid 160 € and I think the bed should be comfortable.I was not happy with the answer of your staff saying that the bed for standard rooms.I was that close to go down to the reception with the matress to show it to all.
Cleaning staff was nice. Water leaked from my ceiling onto me in the middle of the night. managenent was totally unhelpful.
- Proximity to Amsterdam's famous museums - Comfort of the bed - Size of the bathroom (we got a handicapped room) - Availability of luxurious toiletries - Clean, well-kept rooms - Friendly staff - DELICIOUS hot chocolate - Free, reliable wifi - Room itself was a little small - Cleaning staff arrived at 8am
Good location, great sized room, friendly and helpful staff. Whilst it didn't bother us too much, other people may find that the street noise is a bit much and goes on until quite late. The windows when closed do shut most of it out though. Obviously there isn't a great deal the hotel can do about this.
The location was perfect to tour the city and yet be out of the congestion of the Dam. Lots of restaurants, shops, public transportation and access to museums and art. The hotel bar was not open and under construction. It would have been nice to have an inhouse place to relax with a glass of wine.
Perfect location. We shopped every day because it was too much easy to get hotel. Our room was a little bit cold so we ordered an extra blanket but it was dirty and smelling.
The reception area; the comfortable bed; the cleanliness and efficient heating of the room; the view (we were on the 5th floor); the location; the breakfast An occasional strange smell in the room; the fact that emptying the bath flooded the bathroom floor; the general blandness of the room (it could have been in any city centre hotel); the need to update furnichings and decor
Excellent breakfast Look and feel of room and hotel, just plain beautiful View from room Narrow bed Very load ventilator built in wall TV without teletext
The location is great if you want to be by the Leidseplein. The staff is friendly. The cost is low. The hotel was represented on Kayak as a four star, but this is a 2-3 star economy hotel. It is bare bones with little service and dated accommodations. At night you can hear everything from the street and the aged elevator was broken for the second half of our stay. Bags are kept in an open room off a hallway like a hostel, not secured and tagged.
The Hotel was in a great location!! The hotel was clean and decorated nicely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar wasn't open during our stay due to referbishment and we didn't have breakfast there so I can not comment on food. However i would go back to this hotel again and probably will next year.
Convenient, nice neighborhood setting with a congenial atmosphere nearby. The wireless was only available through T-Mobile and required a separate account. That wasn't clearly explained.
Location is great and central - but also noisy Needs urgent renovation. Rooms somewhat filthy.
The central location is perfect for Americans wanting to be close to the Leidessttraat shopping district, and is in the heart of the canal-ring district as well. Its proximity to the cafes and coffee-shops that made Amsterdam famous, the little restaurants, etc. is amazing... only one-half block from the famous Rokerij coffee-shop! It is three blocks from the Cafe American, at the American Hotel; it is three blocks the other direction from the heart of Amsterdam's designer district. In summary, the ideal location to experience Old Amsterdam. While room service and an amazing restaurant, as well as the bar being opened after its current renovation might have made the stay more pleasant, the low pricing would not have been possible.
The rooms were small but well appointed. The staff was friendly. Best of all the location is away from the tourist craziness yet near many attractions and a great place to begin exploring on bicycle. The wine in the room was disappointing in quality and price.
The location is perfect - in a quiet but very central place. Free wifi in the room for no extra charge. The staff is helpful and efficient, without bothering you.
Location near to the fashion and museum district. Quiet street the room was a little hot during the night
Lovely area, lovely hotel in charming old buildings, however with modern conveniences, large bedroom, excellent, helpfull staff. Beautiful fresh flowers in the common areas and in the bedroom. Everything perfect...
they confused me with another guest and gave me key to his room
Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of foods. The bed and pillow were very comfortable. I especially liked the good location to the museums and the friendly staff. Thank you for a nice stay. It was a little difficult to move easily between the bed and desk in room # 305.
convenience to Amsterdam attractions Our room was a little small
the hotel is walking distance from the museum area and the main shopping street the room was not insulated well, no double window so it was a little bit cold
Friendly hotel staff and clean rooms. Good location. Small Room
The location, the facility and room, and the staff. All was wonderful. I hope to go back. The hotel was busy and our room was upgraded to a superior room. It was very nice. It was too short!
location, services, cleanliness,
The hotel is in the central of downtown of Amsteedam. So there are some coffee shops and super markets near the hotel. So we didn't eat very expensive breakfast. My room happened to be along the street and drunk guys' loud voice waked up my family at midnight. 15 Euro breakfast is too expensive. I am afraid that a small child can't eat food for 15 Euro. This hotel is not luxurious one that we have to pay that much money for breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff and comfortable meeting room The cost of the breakfast (Euro 15) is overpriced. The bathrooms facing the street need curtains for privacy.
Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. Phenomenal staff at every level. We walked or biked to everything: dining, museums, bars and the zoo.
Treatment received from staff, some respect is due to clients! Very small room, could scarcely go around bed. Noise from lift and people in the corridors. High Price of breakfast.
Excellent central location, friendly service in various languages !!!
Good location A bit difficult to find
Hotel is situated in the centre of the city, 10 min walk from Museum district. But in the same time hotel building is on the very peacefull street - so you can sleep well. Very poor breakfast. Also room was not very clean.
very helpful staff no
Loved the location and the 'dutchness' of the street would have liked a double bed in the double rooms booked
The hotel is very central, staff is helpful and it's good value for money.
The blinds did not filter the light well enough
The double room was quite small, thought it would be bigger
Location and very attentive staff. Paying for internet access in room.
Guests are given unlimited free drinks (of any sort) and snacks are always available. The hotel is advertised as having a restaurant. There is room service (very good) and hot breakfasts to order, but a restaurant for dinner is in a sister hotel down the block.
friendly staff and clean throughout. rooms slightly tight
good location - near museums and public transporation cost of breakfast
The staff was friendly and helpful. They spoke excellent English and Dutch. The location was excellent and close to P.C Hooft Straat, which I think should be emphasized in the hotel manual/guide. The hotel was also right next to the Vondel park. It was close enough to the leidseplein for a short walk but far enough to away from the rowdiness. The complimentary liquor in the room was highly appreciated. The toiletries should be replenished every day, especially shampoo and body soap. The proximity of my room (room 18) to the service area meant that early in the morning I could hear the breakfast serviced being prepared quite clearly. The door and insulation for rooms close to the kitchen should be thicker. The curtains on the windows were blackout curtains which were nice, but I would have also preferred there to be curtains through which light can pass through to help adjust to the new timezone. It was either completely dark or completely exposed with these curtains - and being right next to the hotel courtyard meant that the windows were at eye level for anyone there.
The room was huge and beautiful, the bathroom was amazing with a double headed rain shower and a separate jacuzzi and double sinks. We had a king sized bed, which in our room was just 2 towns pushed together, but it was very comfortable and nice. The walls were a little thin and we had a room with a window on the street so we heard a lot of people walking by at night both outside the hotel and inside the hotel. The TV was mounted on a wall next to the bed, rather than facing the bed, so that was a little awkward.
The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. While remaining professional they were warm and welcoming. My son would often join me for a drink after work and we enjoyed sitting in the living room of the lobby. At breakfast one member of the staff (Sau (?) always remembered what I liked and greeted me with smile and a cup of coffee. All and all, I could not have been more pleased in terms of the facility, location, and personel. My rooms were attractive, but in both, 21 and ? the closet was practically inaccessible. One must sit on the bed to open the doors.
Very central position - comfortable hotel. Didnt think necessary for towels to be taken away everyday especially as they were then never replaced!
Lovely boutique hotel that lived up to the description on website. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. A very minor point but would have expected more luxurious bathroom products to live up to the luxurious standard of bedroom and bathroom!
Front office staff were very helpful, within their capacity to solve problems - for instance, how best to get somewhere. Some, such as an internet system that was constantly breaking down, were not within their capacity. Cramped bedroom - no proper hanging space. Internet access very poor. Safe did not lock. Only one tiny piece of soap was offered. Lighting was very poor in rooms - difficult to read. No ironing board. Air-conditioning unreliable - public spaces overheated. Much more concerned with appearance than functionality.
Location was brilliant - quiet but just around the corner to lively square. Hotel clean, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast great, rooms fantastic!
Location, staff was very helpful. Bath products and bedding was very nice. Outlet for coffee machine didn't work, had to make coffee in bathroom sink. Top floor room was designed poorly with very short ceilings in corners and hard to access outlets.
Amsterdam is so small there is no reason to stay in the middle of all the touristy stuff. This place was in a quiet area, yet close to everything. Clean, comfortable, with helpful staff. Did not try their Japanese restaurant but it was packed every night and apparently has a good reputation. I would say this is a more "grownup"/sophisticated hotel. They rent out average bikes, which are a few € more expensive than the rental place down the street, but it's more convenient than the rigmarole of leaving 50€ cash per bike + a copy of your ID. Honestly, the only negative were the rental bikes, which were not very comfortable for long rides but do the trick!
The comfort of the room and the tranquility I asked for two umbrellas and they delivered me two ancient and torn(broken) umbrellas. I supposed that they would not receive(charge) from me anything and they received(charged) from me 10 Euros. In addition request for three occasions that will change a molten bulb of the bedside table and the personnel dl hotel ignored.
The building itself is nice, but the service grade is very amateur as the hotel's name. For a short while the front could not find my room key and she told me that she would charge me for the loss of the key. She found out my key somewhere else finally.
Service was excellent, friendly. Ambience and decor beautiful, location very conveneint.
The building itself and the decor, good size rooms and quiet location. The staff were unable to recommend good restaurants. The places they recommended were unimpressive and touristy.
The rooms and the hotel itself were very nice and stylish and friendly staff. Nice location. With regards to service: there is definitely room for improvement. You would expect a better service in a hotel like this. Even though we knew most of the staff consists of students you would expect a better service and a professional staff given these rates. Or else lower the price (and expectations will be lowered too), then it would be easier to accept that most of the hotel staff are no professionals (yet). We also thought the lightning in the room was a little insufficient (a little bit too dark).
Great stay here by myself....I felt safer than other parts of Amsterdam. Woah....great neighborhood. Students spoke in Dutch to each other in front of me several times.
a wonderful building, beautifully restored - we have stayed before and always look forward to coming back - the staff are all very friendly and helpful
Great location and design and breakfast! Very frienly host, who made breakfast available half an hour before the official start! Breakfast starting from 08:30 is rather late for Business travellers - who would certainly like this B&B a lot otherwise!
It was a wonderful experience! I felt the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. Art was in the air. The room exceeded expectations and the location was perfect. It was quiet and peaceful at night - ideal for a relaxing stay. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
The perfect situation, and the confort of the room. Several things:The stairs are too steep, the WC has no door for intimicy and the breakfast with no many choices.
homelike atmosphere, typical Amsterdam residence house
The combination of a typical old Amsterdam house with latest standards for modern minimalistic design. A B&B experience with a touch of 5 star hotel at very reasonable rates. King size bed & king size shower & large, heavy towels. The friendly reception by the owner and the cosy breakfast on the top roof. Great location (5 minutes walking distance to Prinsengracht, 10 minutes to Leidseplein and Flowermarket) I loved it all
Alex is an excellent host and the accommodation is first class. Breakfast is high quality and freshly prepared. The B&B is well located in a quiet street but is near transport links. Free WiFi (with a strong signal) is another plus.
The hotel owner was welcoming and helpful. The vibe was a laid-back, ultra-modern b&b - minimalist modern design elements throughout but without the impersonal coldness of chain hotels. The breakfast was great - fresh fruit, yogurt, bread & muffins, meat and cheese and eggs to order + coffee and teas. No.
One of the most beautiful rooms I have ever stayed in. The owner was so hospitable.
Very good room and location. Our flight arrived at 7 am and we could not get the room untill 2 pm. Besides they didn´t give any welcoming cofee in a cold morning. We did not get any breakfast the next day because we leaved the room at 7.45 am
Wow, what a lovely hotel. We have stayed in the Picasso and Schubert suites both of which are delightful. All the staff are very helpful, friendly and so attentive. We didn't want to leave such was the care we received. Looking forward to our next trip to Amsterdam!! Too many cakes and pastries with the tea/coffee. I've put on a couple of kilos in weight since staying there!!
sometimes it took a long time to do simple things,, ie check out took 10-15 minutes.. breakfast was no real hurry
The location and common areas were lovely We were in room 8. The loo was tiny - luckily we are both thin. Anyone over 6 feet tall or 12 stone would stuggle to sit on it.
Although the hotel is located very close to shopping and dining streets, the hotel was very quiet throughout the day and night. The hotel was well decorated and had a very pleasant ambient. The room and the private bathroom where we stayed were clean, modern and well-sized. We loved the many large windows in the room which kept the interior bright and cool during our stay in the hot month of July. We had 3 minor dislikes - (1) The hotel did not have proper air- conditioning (during the hot month of July). Instead the hotel provided a cool air dispensing machine (mobile type) to cool the room. This machine has an exhaust duct that must be placed through a window to the exterior of the room. When the machine is running, the duct prevented us from closing the window completely during the some nights to keep out the mosquitos. (2) The staff, although always polite and friendly, were not able to help us to book tickets to the main museums. (3) There were no variations in the breakfast. We had the same offering during our five days stay in the hotel.
Eclectic, distinctive, welcoming atmosphere. Private club feel to the public spaces. All inclusive of wireless, minibar, house wines and breakfast. Room (bathroom especially) a little old-fashioned.
great location, fantastic rooms, drinks from the minibar and breakfast are always included in the room rates which was a very positive surprise. This is a better experience than most 5 star hotels I stayed at!
Location is good. It is near from V.G.Museum and bus stop.
Very pleasant staff, very cozy place and ambiance, excellent breakfast a bit expensive and far from downtown by foot
The Hotel is located right next to the concert Hall and walking distance to Rijks Musuem, Van Gogh Museum, House of Bols, Coster Diamonds. Tram 5 & 16 stops just outside and conveniently takes you into the city centre within 10mins. Around the corner there is the famous Vondelpark which is absolutely beautiful. The owner of the Hotel, Sabine was warm and welcoming and every time I asked questions or advice she would be quite detailed and thorough with everything. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Heemskerk and definitely worth it. No air con in the room, so had to leave the windows open for fresh air. But this is only a minor issue.
The personnel was very nice and helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet but central area in Amsterdam. The room was very clean.
Friendly and helpful staff. Close to Museum area. It is a bit far from the centre [but once you know how to use the trolleys it is ok].
Nice hotel, nice staff. Rooms are quite big for Europe.
The entire hotel staff is wonderfully friendly, efficient, courteous, and helpful. Location is excellent: literally a minute's walk from the Concertgebouw, and an easy walk from the Rijkmuseum. Hotel Heemskerk is homey, welcoming, and informal.
Close to museums and concert hall. Friendly family run hotel, good advice and recommendations given.
Great location, small hotel, cosy, clean, customer-oriented and friendly staff, good breakfast. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Extremely friendly staff, good price, excellent location.
