Pros: Fabulous stay. Host was very welcoming and we felt at home. Our host also ensured we had breakfast before leaving quite early although there was no expectation on our part that she do this. We could not have asked for more. Thank you.
Pros: Overnight Stay on the way back from holidays in France. Swimming pool in the garden was very welcome in hot August. Family-managed B&B in a beautiful historic house. Friendly reception, good recommendations for dining out, nice french breakfast in the garden with homemade jams. Spacious family room in the attic floor. Very uncomplicated, helpful and charming hosts.
Cons: The old castle nearby is beautiful but there may be "son&lumiere" events in summertime which means lights, loud music and fireworks until late in the night. Attic rooms may get hot in the summer (no Air Conditioning).
Pros: Lovely traditional French hotel. Rooms are very spacious and hosts were very friendly.
Cons: I was happy with everything.
Pros: Breakfast was fabulous plus we had a lovely evening meal with the family.
Pros: Croissants were out of the p Ordinary. Very friendly hosts.
Pros: The friendly and helpful reception and stay. The pool was a godsend after a long day's drive, and the garden was so pretty, peaceful and relaxing. Lovely house and decor throughout. Very hospitable family and dog friendly too.
Cons: Everything was top quality.
Pros: Nice private hotel with special flair
Cons: Late Check-in (We had to wait till around 5pm)
With a stay at Hôtel Restaurant Galland in Lapalisse, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Jardin Public de Lapalisse and Lapalisse Tourism Office. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The owner were very friendly and polite. Room and bathroom were clean. Heard a lot of guests leaving the restaurant with lot of complements about delicious food!! great Location of the hotel: quite but everything in walking distance.
Cons: unfortunately the Wifi in the guestrooms didn't work. Can happen once , but the owner told me, that he doesn't know, when it will work again . As I had to do some work, he offert me,to work in the lobby (nice but not comfortable)
Pros: The hotel is clean and functional although it could do with an update
Pros: Loved the location, the sense of history, the warmth of the staff and the lovely food.
Cons: Nothing. Felt the decor was a little dated but hey, look at the age of the building. Highly recommended
Pros: Spacious room with sympathetic decor and lighting. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good dinner with imaginative cooking.
Cons: No complaints
Pros: The local wine from the Auvergne was pretty good and the starter of the Dinner was good The cook was friendly and even helped with the luggage
Cons: Very unfriendly host, only complaining The bathroom was very outdated and the comfort of the room was poor I wanted to drink the rest of the bottle of wine in my room but had to use a single use glass from the bathroom Never again, there are much nicer properties in town
Located in Lapalisse, Auberge Du Moulin Marin is within a 5-minute drive of Chateau de La Palice and Jardin Public de Lapalisse. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice beds, good breakfast, very nice staff
Pros: I have had a very good dinner with a nice regional wine, the service was competent and very friendly and the dining room was nicely decorated as well.
Cons: The condition of the terrace was disappointing. I would have loved to have dinner on the terrace on a very warm summer day it was old, not very clean and with furniture that only allowed a drink and no dinner, but an investment of probably not more than 10k EUR could make a cosy place in front of the mill to enjoy a nice dinner.
Pros: Nice size room with wi fi and so forth
Cons: rather sterile. The room and hotel could have been in any mid size american city. On par with holiday inn
Pros: Friendly staff and lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Good breakfast. Very friendly resident dog but that could be a problem for some people. Good location.
Cons: Rather soulless room looking out on some building work.
Pros: Convenient stopping place in lovely countryside with a decent restaurant.
Cons: Room was small and a bit ‘tired’ in a modern annex which wasn’t very attractive. The ‘courtyard’ which our room was supposed to look over was more of a car park.
Pros: The room was modern, spacious and comfortable. The efficient air- conditioning was especially welcome in the unusual heat of the “canicule” . The restaurant was charming and atmospheric, and the dinner was excellent. Parking was on site. The proprietors were charming and friendly. The location is not as appealing as it could be if a large amount of money was spent on re-developing this old water-mill site. Nonetheless, it is convenient to reach on the edge of the town, and with petrol stations and a supermarket a few minutes drive on the way out to the N7, this makes a convenient and comfortable overnight stop.
Cons: The immediate surrounds of the hotel. Large scale redevelopment of the old mill building itself may be out of the question, but at least the immediate surrounds of the hotel could be tidied up and made more appealing. The young girl on reception had wrongly charged me for 2 breakfasts, and I have subsequently discovered had not charged me at all for bar drinks taken in th afternoon!
Pros: The location is bucolic but very close to Vichy. The staff made sure check-in was smooth and made my dinner reservation so I was guaranteed a table. The dinner was wonderful and the local wine exquisite. My dog liked the house dog!
