Pros: This is a classic old inn that has been lovingly renovated and decorated. It retains is authenticity (rarely a level floor), but the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and the (bathroom) fixtures are relatively new. The staff is very friendly, and helpful in providing tips about things to do and see in the area, as well as informing about the local nightlife. The breakfast buffet was good, with many local favorites - it's basically continental (things breads, scones, etc.) with one "warm dish" that varies based on the chef's inspiration for the day. Plenty to fill us up!
Cons: One criticism might befall the electrical outlets. There were few in the room, inconveniently located, and so old that they were "stripped", meaning we could not keep anything plugged in. This reduced us to two functioning outlets - in this day of technology! While very nice, this hotel would seem "overpriced" given the rural location.
Pros: The setting was very pretty with beautiful lawns surrounding a large pond. They provided chairs to sit out and enjoy the area. They even provided kayaks and a canoe to take out on the pond. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and it was very nice to eat in the formal dining room.
Cons: The floors were not very clean. Our stairway could use a coat of paint.
