Friendly staff and nice large comfortable rooms. Windows in the room and bathroom were old and could do with replacing.
Receptionist was very helpful - showed us maps of Salisbury and trains stations etc
Breakfast Dinner was only fair
value for money and location was excellent
The overall comfort of the room and the close proximity to Salisbury General Hospital (where my course was held) and also to the city centre and cathedral. Unfortunately I forgot to pack my mobile phone charger and hair conditioner. I was disappointed when nothing could be done to help as spares were not held on site to borrow or purchase, so I had to walk to the closest out of hours store to purchase them.
The people were pleasant and the meals and service in the restaurant were both very good. The bed was a king size bed however made up of two king size single mattresses of different heights of what seemed like at least an inch. This created a ridge line in the bed that made sleeping very difficult.
Excellent breakfast.Outlook from room of Cathedral and river was lovely
the history of the hotel because we stayed in the old part the bar shut too eairly
We had room 19 which had a wonderful view of the garden and river. The people were very nice and helpful with travel information. I understand the property is in the midst of a renovation so I write this with the understanding that this item will probably be taken care of in due course. The furniture was more than a bit shabby.
Good value, convenient for cathederal and city centre, nice large rooms, friendly staff A bit souless/corporate
Hotel well situated for Salisbury shops and cathedral, just a 10-15 minute walk by the river. The staff were friendly and the evening meal good value. The breakfast was ok but not the best full English I've ever had. This didn't spoil my stay though and I'd recommend Milford Hall Hotel.
My room was large, modern and had a v. Big bath/shower which is great for Uk standards. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was enough till dinner for me!
Free Wifi connection
A very comfortable hotel with easy access, convieniently located in the centre of Salisbury, helpful and friendly staff, and good food, excellent!
Very pleasant hotel and, at the discounted price on a winter Friday night of £65 B&B for two, very good value. At the rack rate of £125 it would be a bit steep. Excellent breakfast. Handy for bus stops to and from the centre of the city No criticisms whatsoever.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Staff made the stay a pleasure, the hotel itself was comfortable. I was unaware from the website that the part we were staying in was an addition to the original building, which was not as nice.
Looking to relocate
Good Parking Room decoration had an Egyptian them, wall paper/pictures that I found was not very relaxing to look at Seemed very expensive for the level of facilities to me
central location towels not changed until requested
we only used the sleeping facility
A beautiful hotel, very centrally located, clean, welcoming, staff were friendly and helpful, wonderful english breakfast.
Clean, comfortable, cheap and handy for the city. Everything was fine aprt from difficulty with parking.
The staff were friendly and the room was fresh and clean There was a situation in the early hours where people were shouting and kicking doors. There were no numbers to call for assistance
Please write at least 15 wordsCity centre location and value for money are excelent, the city centre is within easy reach NA
great city centre location, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room and a good breakfast. I would recommend this accomodation. N/A
I liked having my breakfast in my room, the fact that the hotel was close to the bus staton and the shops. I found the room cold, though staff did give me extra blankets and on the second day a heater for the room. The noise from the night clubs if i stay again i would request a room at the rear of the hotel.
Close location to cheap multi storey car park.
Great location, helpful staff, very clean with quite a nice breakfast.
The food was very good and the prices reasonable this was evident in how busy the place was, and very friendly young staff. We thought the beds and pillows were rather uncomfortable, and the fact that there was a party going on on both the nights that we were there insured that we didn't get much sleep! It might be good policy to warn guests about that sort of thing.
The food was outstanding and the staff incredibly welcoming. The setting is beautiful and overall I would definitely recommend the George Inn to friends. None.
Nice Room Location very noisy and very small portions at breakfast
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and responded to any of our queries immediately. When we first arrived there was some confusion over our room as we were a family of 4 and had not been booked into a family room as we had requested. This was soon resolved to our satisfaction, but did cause a few moments of anxiety.
Good very pleasant staff Friendly pub Booking lost in compurter failure Matress old had a rubber smell Rooms very noisy from wedding reception
Good location Nobody on reception as all serving in the pub. I would not class thiss as a hotel and it is by no means a four star. Has to take my children into the pub to get a member of the bar staff to check me in. Very poor and the description you offered does not make this obviously. Would have never booked this hotel if the description of it was accurate
All excellent None
Excellent room, very clean and spacious, very nice en suite. Loads of easy parking which was great. Good atmosphere in the pub downstairs. English breakfast was fab. I was a bit chilly overnight (even with the extra blanket) as they turned off all the heating, however I did appear to be the only resident.
We stopped at this hotel on our trip to longleat which is literally a 5 minute drive away. The facilities were basic but the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was cooked to order which was very good. The only criticism was that I thought it was perhaps a little over priced for the for the facilities available. However this wouldn't put me off stopping at this hotel again.
Dinner at the pub was the highlight. The home cooked ham melted in your mouth and the beef stew with dumplings was exceptionally good.
The room service food was good. The hotel is rather stuck in a timewarp and needs updating. The staff were not particularly friendly and the atmosphere is not welcoming.
Breakfast buffet, hotel peaceful during our visit
The location of this hotel is excellent with reasonably priced carparking. Our room was surprisingly large and the decor was very pleasant. The pull out sofa bed provided for our daughter was very uncomfortable. It was very hard and every spring could be felt! The bathroom was a bit too small, especially when compared to the spacious room.
The room was very clean. The breakfast was very poor as was the service at reception.
The room was very good. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful No
The bed was very comfortable, the room large and nicely equipped with a small settee and coffee table and a modern television. We were served in a friendly and efficient manner at dinner. Breakfast was delivered to our room on time. Centrally located. The room was shabby with ill-fitting carpets, bed hangings falling down and light bulbs not working. Although other rooms had air-conditioning, ours didn't. The shower didn't work properly. The quality of the food at dinner and breakfast was disappointing.
We were upgraded to an excellent room, when the staff found out, that there were not the requested bed for a child.
friendly reception staff, great open fires in reception/bar. Room too hot with no way of cooling other than opening windows
bed was comfortable. nice building. breakfast was nice the service at dinner was poor and the restaurant manager was defensive as to why the meal was not up to scratch. they did not have what we wanted, the service was slow, quality of meat poor, with the excuse that the head chef was not working that evening and they had lots of room service to attend to. Also the bedroom was extremely noisy and the decor was very tired
Efficient service in the dining room
Clean modern bar / restaurant. Convenient town, cathedral and shops. Parking. Over 25s restriction, varied age mix of bar customers, live band rocked on to packed venue! Staff excellent. Food looked good but we'd booked to eat elsewhere. Very friendly owner/manager let us leave car whilst we shopped for day after check out. Great value for town centre, good choice of restaurants and cafes for breakfast near by. Tea/Coffee in room. Will stay again :-) Could leave some biscuits or a couple of fruits in room.
Friendly, Really helpfull, Localized close to the main places.
Very good city center hotel good location very good home cooked food easy too find some parking at hotel
The only negative would be the lack of hooks to hang your towels on in the bathroom.
Poor and shabby, tired old place - was up for sale and I can see why
The live music in the bar downstairs was great. The room was really nice as well. The shower was A little loud so I couldn't rest while my partner showered, but not a big deal.
Very clean. Friendly staff Can't think of any!
Easy access from the centre of town. Not very clean, shower was unserviceable.
Over all 80% enjoyable, staff good Very few parking places,no breakfast
Near the centre. The heating system not heat at night.
Lovely friendly staff - very chatty. Good clean rooms Bed was far too soft and felt like the matress was on a slope Not good value for money - didn't feel it offered any more than a good guest house
Clean, quiet location, easy access to Salisbury Nothing
The staff was excellent and did so much to make my wife's arrival on her birthday very, very special. Also, the breakfasts were exceptional. I have no negative comments.
The room was excellent all round and the staff were very friendly. Nothing to dislike at all.
I haven't got time It was all very well presented
Good location and very nice room. This is more of a motel than a bed and breakfast. Not quite what we expected.
Great room, fantastic breakfast, helpful staff. Really good value, would recommend.
The owners were extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. I would feel very comfortable staying there again.
Would have liked an evening meal however basic ie jacket potato.
Great breakfast Walking distance to city centre!
Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
Relaxing and very central for shopping. NA
Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details. The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old. Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner. No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs. Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
location The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!
If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful. No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
Location is marvelous. The atmosphere is also nice. When we took a bath, hot water didn't come out quite enough. It took ages to fill the tab. It's a bit annoying to unlock the door of the entrance to the accomodation area every time.
excellent location, very romantic room, charming staff + excellent food in the restaurant
Cozy and charming hotel with ancient roots in local history. Attentive staff. Great location. Had no noise problems. Dinner was a little hit-or-miss; chicken dish was excellent, fish dish very ho-hum.
Room and service was excellent. Food was delightful. Close to everything we would need, ie bus/train station and shopping. Bed was hard and the pillows felt like they had got mixed up with sand bags.
Attractive building and courtyard; helpful staff. None
Close to the Town Centre, very clean hotel with attentive staff. Food was reasonably good. Brakfast was great. Hotel is on a cross roads and it would appear near Bars and clubs, so at around 2pm it can be quite noisy. Room 84 either has the main water or sewage down pipe and was very noisy at times.
Very friendly staff, made to feel welcome, highly recommended hotel. Key cards for access to room, technology that doesnt work!! Twice had a wasted trip to room only to return to reception to have the card replaced. Get rid of this system it is infuriating & spoils a superb hote.
Location, courtyard nice except..., price not unreasonable. Feel duped. Booked a "historical" room based on a picture of a charming room offered when booking. Got to room and it was a B minus take on modern. Asked at desk and was told all the rooms had been renovated, they were updating the website. Too late. False advertising. Internet horrible to the point of being useless, rooms very hot in summer. Kegs and chairs stacked/stored in the courtyard ruin the charm and ambiance. Shocked at the five star rating. Would hate to see an even four star property...
Breakfast fire alarm going off in the early hours
Enthusiasm of young staff Some of the young staff needed training in finesse at waiting at tables, also sometimes their facility in English was not the best
Help from staff, location of hotel, the fact that it was 800 years old. Room was a bit small.
The friendliness of the welcome
I liked the atmosphere I did not like the fact that it was gone 2.30 before we could get any sleep due to the noise in the bar and people coming up to their rooms really late next time if there were not any rooms on the top floor i would have to go to another hotel.
The Location was superb being close to the town centre and the cathederal but not in it. too many stairs for an oldie
setting room was below expectation and could benefit from more attractive make over - bathroom fittings old
a very good room and a good breakfast
More of a country inn than an hotel which suited us perfectly. Cosy, good beer, good food, good atmosphere, waking to beautiful sunrises over the mill race and river. The weather was very cold and the resaurant, with hardly anyone in it, could have been warmer. Dinner served on cold plates.
The view from the window - very picturesque the noise from people leaving the bear fest - we didn't realise when we booked that there was one going on.People were still outside our window calling a cab at gone 2.am. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. 45mins for a cold hardboild poached egg !!
very nice old building hotel prices for b&b standard.
location room dirty small bathroom particularly bad
The staff was so excellent all of them very friendly, the food was absolutely delicisious, breakfest to die for and the rooms were very nicely decorated. I did love my stay and would definitely recommend it to anybody. Thank you for pleasant stay. :-) Everything was perfect
The room was extremely comfortable- we stayed in the Wilton room and it has a wonderful deep bath, fab comfy bed , nice and warm but fan in cuboard if u need it cool. Amazing choice of brekfast from full English to scrambled eggs and salmon. It was top class Nothing
Beautiful location, lovely building. Staff extremely helpful. Comfortable bed. Riverside views.
We had a very lous neighbour that kept us awake for most of the night and the bed in our room was tilted at an angle which made it difficult for us to get comfortable
Matthew, the manager, was an excellent host. He was businesslike, friendly and very helpful. He gave us perfect directions to Stonehenge, and packed a picnic breakfast for us when we had to leave early to go to Heathrow for a flight. The food in the restaurant was outstandingly good, excellent lamb, mashed potatoes, and bar-b-q wings! The beer was local and delicious. The staff were all very gracious. The rooms were handsome and bright, very clean, with a complete tea service and waters, both plain and carbonated, for the guests in each room. None. Except for some loud traffic on the road at night. Very minor.
On arrival the staff greeting was exceptionally friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We ate a bar snack later in the evening which was of a very high standard.. We slept well in the lovely bedroom. At breakfast there was a first class menu with numerable choices, ours was cooked to perfection and served well. No there was not one thing we could fault about the Hotel
The location was great - away from the city and staff were so helpful and friendly. The road was quite busy.
The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice. I didn't think that the room was worth the amount of money we paid.Quite small and no sofa/ seating at all.
Homely atmosphere, good food, good beer.
Good food, good sized room with bath
Excellent location - bedrooms had a touch of class - more a young mans business hotel as there could have been more mirrors and plugs for a lady for hair and makeup - not enough adequate light in bathroom for makeup either. Shower was nice and clean as was the bedroom but felt the design of the shower needed to have a few alterations as water tended to go everywhere due to design and long term this was spoiling skirting boards and floor. Maybe a more permanent finish to bathroom as shelving was disintigrating with soap etc., Nice touch to have deent coffee in room and fresh coffee for breakfast. Food at breakfast was very tasty and well presented. It would have been nice to have either normal milk or cream in bedroom to go with the excellent coffee instead of substitute milk.
Every member off staff were extremely attentative to our needs and the food was absolutely gorgeous!!! What a lovely building in a lovely town, we had a lovely stay as a guest in your hotel and the bed was soooo comfortable we didn't want to get up!!!! A few minor adjustments to the bathroom fittings in room 16 would be useful ie toilet roll holder could be positioned closer to the toilet, and a bit more space/shelving around the washbasin area for our own toiletries would be useful as it was awkward using the shelf below the washstand.
Our room with the spacious en-suite and roll top victorian bath was delightful. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and it was only a 10 minute walk from town. All in all a very enjoyable experience. We would definitely go back. We liked everything.
Fantastic room and free wireless internet No credit card payment
we had a very comfortable stay, owners were welcoming and food was good
Room was very comfortable and clean, staff were helpfull, breakfast was good, would happily stay there again.
Salisbury is a great place to visit - loads of pubs. This hotel is not near town but that is a bonus, the staff are excellent and the rooms are lovely.
The family are so welcoming and helpful. The room was better than we'd expected and the en-suite bathroom was fantastic. This was extremely good value for money. We would definitely stay here again.
Location Breakfast times late and short availability
Like home from home, comfortable and secure.
Help full, friendly owners. Good quality accommodation, in a good location for all the visitor attractions in the area.
friendly staff. grand room, esp bathroom had to have breakfast by 9am on a sunday
The unique rooms all decorated differently, the eccentric english room we stayed in was very spacious, clean and had a very comfy bed. The shower mixer tap, it needs a hook to hang the shower head on.
We found it to be quite and comfortable and quirky and just what we were looking for and look forward to booking again Nothing
The hotel was quite quirky which we liked, and which gave it some real character. The location was great, nice and peaceful and only 2 miles from Longleat Safari Park. The bed in the room was really comfortable and the bathroom was large in size. The atmosphere and music in the bar were great. At times the staff seemed to be quite disorganised, particularly at meal times and check in. There was no shower in our room, just a bath. As the hotel only provided fresh milk we could not have a cup of tea/coffee in the morning in our room before breakfast.
A very comfortable overnight stay. No.
Friendly and helpful service; very comfortable, well-presented and individual accomodation; top-notch evening meal; and lovely location. None
Very cramped, door to room didn't close fully so could not be locked (seemed like swelled through damp maybe)
Country pub hotel with great food, rooms and facilities. Located in the heart of Longleat
Everything. The staff were absolutely first class.
Nice themed room The remote for the tv had been chewed by the hotel dog. No shower screen.
Hotel was perfect - the room was gorgeous and very comfortable,The staff were lovely and very friendly. The morning brekfast was yummy and there was a wide choice to suit all no
Foog and service Excellant and comfortable relaxing room Tea and coffee facilities in the room were a little odd.
Really fabulous stay. Would definitely go again.
Friendly staff, historic building, quiet surroundings
The staff were extremely friendly and said to treat the hotel as my own home. Breakfast was great Bar was only open between 7pm and 9pm. It would have been nice if it was open for longer as there was no where to sit and relax with a drink after dinner other than your own room.
Nice room. Nice rural location. None really. T.V. could have been a bit bigger. ( If I was being super critical )
We had a fantastic time & the staff were all very helpful for a young family
Great Room and amenities, scenic location Restaurant closes early
Friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable bedroom. Pleasant dining room and lounge, food good excellent breakfast. As stairs to bedrooms very steep need to fix the bannister as it wobbles. Serviettes on the table would be nice without having to ask for them at each meal time.
Beautiful setting, and a very short walk into the heart of Salisbury. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the common areas of the hotel were delightful.
We really enjoyed our spacious, classically decorated room with lovely bathroom and a fabulous scenic view of cathedral and meadows/river. The staff were courteous and helpful. The 15min walk to the centre of the city was such a pleasure too, going down historic streets with thatched cottages and historic walled gates. Nothing to complain of, except that unfortunately I left my hat and gloves by mistake, either in our room or at reception when checking out, and they have not been found since, I hope they turn up and I am contacted :o(
Quiet position. For the money the room was not providing enough. Bed too short (typical problem in this country, English people apparently are very short), no airconditioning, no refrigerator. The bath with jacuzzi was not working.
We have stayed twice now, lovely large old fashioned room with great view This time we stayed there was an event downstairs (under our room) the disco arrived at 10.30 and was very loud.
Having only paid £59 pounds for a double room with breakfast included i was a bit sceptical. I had checked out the negative views about the impact of a wedding so i phoned before booking to confirm there would not be one that night. I added on the booking form that a bath and river view were a preference and we got both. The room was immaculate and of a much higher standard than i expected in a 3 star hotel and in particular a standard room. The staff were very polite and attentive. We did not stay in as we were using the hotel as a base for a function in the city centre. The walk from the hotel was very pleasant. I could see that parts of the hotel were a bit tired and could see elements that limited it to a 3 star but it worked for us. Nothing to report
restaurant too expensive
It is a very nice located hotel with a lot of atmosphere and friendly staff. The breakfast and dinner kitchen are fine.
Location Constant beeping of the Fire Alarm system in Reception
Location and staff were tops!
Very relaxing, good breakfasts, clean comfortable room, close to town centre, easy parking.
