All excellent None
The food was very good and the prices reasonable this was evident in how busy the place was, and very friendly young staff. We thought the beds and pillows were rather uncomfortable, and the fact that there was a party going on on both the nights that we were there insured that we didn't get much sleep! It might be good policy to warn guests about that sort of thing.
Dinner at the pub was the highlight. The home cooked ham melted in your mouth and the beef stew with dumplings was exceptionally good.
The food was outstanding and the staff incredibly welcoming. The setting is beautiful and overall I would definitely recommend the George Inn to friends. None.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and responded to any of our queries immediately. When we first arrived there was some confusion over our room as we were a family of 4 and had not been booked into a family room as we had requested. This was soon resolved to our satisfaction, but did cause a few moments of anxiety.
We stopped at this hotel on our trip to longleat which is literally a 5 minute drive away. The facilities were basic but the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast was cooked to order which was very good. The only criticism was that I thought it was perhaps a little over priced for the for the facilities available. However this wouldn't put me off stopping at this hotel again.
Good location Nobody on reception as all serving in the pub. I would not class thiss as a hotel and it is by no means a four star. Has to take my children into the pub to get a member of the bar staff to check me in. Very poor and the description you offered does not make this obviously. Would have never booked this hotel if the description of it was accurate
Excellent room, very clean and spacious, very nice en suite. Loads of easy parking which was great. Good atmosphere in the pub downstairs. English breakfast was fab. I was a bit chilly overnight (even with the extra blanket) as they turned off all the heating, however I did appear to be the only resident.
Nice Room Location very noisy and very small portions at breakfast
Good very pleasant staff Friendly pub Booking lost in compurter failure Matress old had a rubber smell Rooms very noisy from wedding reception
Relaxing and very central for shopping. NA
Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful. No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old. Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
location The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner. No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs. Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details. The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
The Location was superb being close to the town centre and the cathederal but not in it. too many stairs for an oldie
location room dirty small bathroom particularly bad
very nice old building hotel prices for b&b standard.
The friendliness of the welcome
I liked the atmosphere I did not like the fact that it was gone 2.30 before we could get any sleep due to the noise in the bar and people coming up to their rooms really late next time if there were not any rooms on the top floor i would have to go to another hotel.
The view from the window - very picturesque the noise from people leaving the bear fest - we didn't realise when we booked that there was one going on.People were still outside our window calling a cab at gone 2.am. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. 45mins for a cold hardboild poached egg !!
More of a country inn than an hotel which suited us perfectly. Cosy, good beer, good food, good atmosphere, waking to beautiful sunrises over the mill race and river. The weather was very cold and the resaurant, with hardly anyone in it, could have been warmer. Dinner served on cold plates.
setting room was below expectation and could benefit from more attractive make over - bathroom fittings old
a very good room and a good breakfast
A very comfortable overnight stay. No.
Very cramped, door to room didn't close fully so could not be locked (seemed like swelled through damp maybe)
Country pub hotel with great food, rooms and facilities. Located in the heart of Longleat
Everything. The staff were absolutely first class.
The hotel was quite quirky which we liked, and which gave it some real character. The location was great, nice and peaceful and only 2 miles from Longleat Safari Park. The bed in the room was really comfortable and the bathroom was large in size. The atmosphere and music in the bar were great. At times the staff seemed to be quite disorganised, particularly at meal times and check in. There was no shower in our room, just a bath. As the hotel only provided fresh milk we could not have a cup of tea/coffee in the morning in our room before breakfast.
Friendly and helpful service; very comfortable, well-presented and individual accomodation; top-notch evening meal; and lovely location. None
We found it to be quite and comfortable and quirky and just what we were looking for and look forward to booking again Nothing
Hotel was perfect - the room was gorgeous and very comfortable,The staff were lovely and very friendly. The morning brekfast was yummy and there was a wide choice to suit all no
The unique rooms all decorated differently, the eccentric english room we stayed in was very spacious, clean and had a very comfy bed. The shower mixer tap, it needs a hook to hang the shower head on.
Nice themed room The remote for the tv had been chewed by the hotel dog. No shower screen.
