9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely character property. Very comfortable. Host was very friendly. Great location with lovely views. Would stay again.
Cons: Would have been nice to have been offered a drink on arrival, given the hot weather. I guess that a kettle and tea/coffee in the bedroom isn’t normal in French hotels/chambre d’hotes?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: remote enough but still conveniently close to explore the region; like visiting the farm of a distant relative with home cooking and personal attention
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Great host, excellent breakfast! Quiet, very clean, nice garden, close to a small water channel.
Cons: Shared bathroom, but this was really not an issue, there are only 3 rooms. It is a great place for a family with kids. You will feel like at home. And you can enjoy excellent drinks at more than reasonable prices. Local champagne at 13.50...it is a great deal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was fantastic, the house is amazing and so clean. Breakfast was delivered in the moment. This was just somewhere to put our head for the night as we was on our way to the South of France but it was much, much more. The garden was equipped for children, it had a lovely stream at the back. The owners are friendly. Absolutely amazing, I wish we could have stayed for longer. The house is so comfortable.
Cons: Nothing it was fantastic

Pros: It is a great place, great people running this place, it was a pleasure to spend a night during a long trip, to have a chat with our hostess.

Pros: The house was beautiful.
Cons: Breakfast was terrible, 1 slice of ham each and quarter of a baguette and 2 small bread buns. The owner wasn't there at the time and asked a friend to welcome us however she only spoke French unfortunately we don't speak French. Apparently this is why we didn't get a proper Breakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the communal dining as it was good to meet other guests from different countries
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The house and setting were beautiful in the countryside . We stayed with friends but children would have loved all the animals around . Our dog was made very welcome . The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds . Stephanie the owner was so lovely and we asked in advance and she cooked a wonderful meal and you could buy local beer and wine .
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like but an outside table and chairs would have made it perfect .
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nicely decorated and, even though it is a 11th century building, felt very clean and new. The view from the room over the large field with deer and pigs and hogs made it very enjoyable for both us and our 4 yr old.
Cons: I don't like the question as it requests to list something negative. If you're looking for a quiet B&B a bit of the motorway it is definitely worth the 5-10 min detour.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent and the accommodation was very comfortable.
Cons: Need to clean up around the house and make it more attractive.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The grounds, the buildings and the warm welcome

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay, sadly only one night. The hosts are welcoming and sociable and we enjoyed the pre-arranged evening meal very much. Breakfast wasd a relaxed affair in the garden by the pool and excellent. Our room was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely and unique place to stay. Christine and Denis are the most wonderful friendly hosts. Christine also offers a 3 course evening meal (this is extra at 20 euro per person and is fantastic value for money). She cooks all the food herself from home produce grown on their land. Breakfast, which is included, is traditionally French the differnce being it is all home baked and served with home made jams, honey from their own bees, fruits and yoghurts plus more goodies too many to mention! We shall definately stay again on our mid way trip to and from home in England. Highly recommended :)
Cons: It's not easy to find so make sure you get clear dirctions before hand and please don't expect your sat nav to be of any use!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Christine and her husband were the most welcoming, delightful hosts with a terrific sense of humour. Christine served up the most delicious evening meal and the home made aperitif was a lovely addition. Breakfast was equally as lovely. The aperitifs and breakfast were both served outdoors. You could really want for nothing there. Their property is in a very pretty village.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Marie Christine and Denis were so welcoming and, after a long journey, Marie Christine offered she could cook us dinner, which was lovely. Denis even showed us his bee keeping after dinner. The house is beautifully located on the river and the area is wonderfully quiet. We will definitely return when in the area and would like to stay a few days longer to enjoy the tranquility and wonderful hosts.
Cons: Can't think of anything!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome from the lovely hosts, including a refreshing drink in the garden & tour of their wonderful mill. Our room was spacious, clean & comfortable. Perfect overnight stop for our journey back from Zurich to England. No restaurants in Orges, but plenty in the nearby town of Chaumont (17km) which was worth a visit just to see the viaduct

7.0 Good
Pros: Hartelijke ontvangst. Uitstekende overnachtings locatie; rustige plek. Zeer goede keuken; gezellige dinerruimte in middeleeuws decor. Uitstekende bedden.
Cons: De auberge is in renovatie, die op tal van punten nog moet worden afgerond. Desondanks is het er plezierig toeven.
6.0 Good
Pros: Magnificent dining room. Baronial. Tapestries on walls. Log fire. Like living in a medieval castle.
Cons: No door on wc in bedroom. Bedroom a bit dark and cold.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: That it was not in a busy town. The actual building was very interesting. The bed was very comfortable. Nothing else!!!!
Cons: The food was also 11 century!! Very poor. It was not acceptable to see a dog running around in the kitchen and when approached, staff member became irritated. The beakfast for 12 euros was very basic, coffee and a croissant. Bedrooms very basic,no mirror in bathroom! There was wedding that nite and therefore the people in the dining room had to listen to that din all evening. Very poor value for a superior double room.
5.7 Okay
Pros: A fascinating building, full of historical features. The dinner was excellent dinner. The location in a quiet French village is also perfect for a stopover travelling south (or north).
Cons: The rooms could be made more comfortable without altering the medieval character, and the plumbing didn't function absolutely perfectly.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Like staying in a medieval castle but with modern facilities. The dining room was especially attractive and dinner very good. The continental breakfast was overpriced; we had enjoyed much the same at a smart modern hotel for half the price.
Cons: Not suitable for anyone who has difficulty with steps, or with young children in view of the antiques everywhere. Also going from one part to the other necessitated going outside which could be a drawback during inclement weather. An ability to speak some French would be a great advantage.

7.5 Good
Pros: The amenities and ambience.
Cons: The menu prices were excessive for good quality but not exceptional food. The same for the price of all drinks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Contrary to a recent review our room was immaculate, spacious with modern facilities and a good standard of decor. The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast generous and imaginative. The staff were friendly and offered to assist with our luggage.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice Location with great heritage and a calm surrounding.
Cons: The Restaurant feels a bit clean and there is no lunch or snack opportunity during the day.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The property from the outside gave great expectations, beautiful building, lovely pools and gardens, however the inside was a different story.
Cons: The classic room was very small and in this very small room there were no fewer than 5 doors! One opens to a tiny toilet, not big enough to pull your trousers back up without hitting the wall, another opens to a sink, however you then have to go to the other side of the bed to open another door into a small shower. The room had a small half size window which didn’t let in much light. It was a dreadful room. The property was furnished with what looked like a selection of random items from a flea market with very little care and attention to any particular style. Whilst my selection from the set menu was excellent my husband’s main of duck was not, the duck was tasteless and chewy. This is the first time that I have been so dissatisfied with a stay that I have felt the need to give feedback.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The chef is a genius, a master at his art. The rooms are very spacious, very elegant, the gardens and pool a delight .
Cons: I thought is was superb in every detail.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: There was lots of hot water, air conditioning was great. Good choice at breakfast, fabulous dinner. Grounds and gardens around spa well maintained. Loved the roll top bath.
Cons: Fridge in room too noisy. Espresso machine in room did not work. The white gravel outside was a mistake. The dust got everywhere.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner & wine
Cons: Could have sat outside
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely castle in the middle of nowhere, with pool, spa, one star restaurant and very comfortable rooms.
Cons: The path to the big pool should need a renovation .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location convenient as stop on longer journey
Cons: No signage to hotel at all. Very difficult to find.
6.3 Good
Pros: Calm and peaceful place, in the middle of nowhere. Felt very relaxed there. The food in the restaurant was lovely.
Cons: The room we were given was not up to the standard expected for the price we paid. It was very tired, in need of a good refurbishment and some repairs. The staff were great when we complained and gave us a free room upgrade which was much appreciated. The whole chateau and grounds were also very tired, and not worthy of the prices charged. We wanted something special and it was not special. The breakfast was ok but not worth the £19 each we paid for it. I would have hoped for more than just a small buffet.

L'auberge De La Fontaine - Villiers-sur-Suize - Bedroom
14
8.3 Excellent (271 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at L'Auberge de la Fontaine in Villiers-sur-Suize, you'll be 11.7 mi (18.8 km) from Nogent Church and 12.1 mi (19.4 km) from Chaumont Town Hall. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Logis Auberge de la Fontaine is in a very quiet but very pleasant village. We enjoyed strolling around the village, with its small river, both in the evening when we arrived and the next morning. Seven of the hotel rooms are situated in a small annexe just up the road from the restaurant and it is in this building that you have breakfast. Our room was on the ground floor looking out through French Windows to an enclosed courtyard shared with the next door room. A tiny en-suite shower room. The main building has a traditional bar and a lovely dining room. In all public rooms are stuffed animals. Dinner was the highlight with a very reasonably priced menu of the day with two or three choices per course. Four courses if you could mange cheese which was beyond us. Cooked by the impressive proprietor, the food was excellent and the dessert magnificent. Breakfast was workaday and adequate. A great stopover on our way back from holiday and we grew to love Villiers sur Suize.
Cons: The shower room really was tiny but we managed.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The regional cooking was good and the wine list was excellent. The town is close to the motorway, but far enough so that you are in the countryside.
Cons: We did not get a room in the Auberge, but in a building up the road. The rooms were very basic with bathrooms that looks like they can be sprayed to get clean. The one room had one of those bathrooms where the toilet gets wet if you take a shower. You can hear the noises (conversations) and water flows from other rooms. We all woke with bad backs due to the terrible beds. The restaurant closed well before 23:00 on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was invested with flies and mosquitos, which they did nothing about. Not even a candle on the table. There was not enough parking available close to the rooms. Very expensive for what you get.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was very attractive with river, washhouse and old buildings and very easy to find. Breakfast was good, attractive breakfast room.
Cons: No printed dinner menu with details and prices, limited choice.
6.8 Good
Pros: Associated cafe/brasserie down the road was quite nice with good plat du jour.
Cons: Room was small with the smallest, most cramped bathroom ever. Hard to turn around in the shower without falling out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: An idyllic spot, quiet, friendly, fabulous for a stop over, so much nicer than a bland motel type hotel, but still with all the creature comforts.
Cons: Staff, location, restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Auberge was excellent and fully met our expectations. The room was fresh, clean and adequately appointed. The restaurant menu was varied and the food selected of a high standard, breakfast was plentiful with a good variety to select from.. The staff were welcoming and provided good service, special mention to the restaurant staff who were exceptional with a charm and personality that made our meal memorable.
Cons: We arrived before 17.30 when the reception opened. I must have been aware of this, but emphasising this should be considered! The hotel and Auberge are 50 meters apart, this is not a problem but some may struggle with the hill. Again I feel sure I must have been aware of this when booking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The property has a very good restaurant with outside patio.
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely setting clean rooms good food
Cons: All was good value basic accommodation clean

Pros: Location was good. Have low
Cons: Room was adequate, not even a plug for the sink. Breakfast was very disappointing. Virtually nothing there and had to ask for milk and spoon
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice out of town location, close to canal with towpath good for walking, running, cycling. Set menu dinner was very good. The church bells next door stop at 21:00 and don't start again until 08:00 next morning.
Cons: Parking was on the street outside the hotel. Not on site, or out of sight, so though it looks like a low crime area not ideal for motorcycles.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The restaurant was nice and the food was very good. The breakfast was also adequate. The location was very peaceful but difficult to find.
Cons: Very basic looks like they are trying to upgrade. My basic French was not enough.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was good the location was very quiet.
Cons: The check in was vague we e mailed to say we would arrive at 11 pm we arrived at 10 45 the place was in darkness.it was scary my husband phoned the manager and was told our key was in the door to our room.we were very relieved as we had visions of sleeping in a remote place in our car
5.8 Okay
Pros: Easy to park
Cons: A bit tired, very narrow staircase to access rooms, bar closed early. No lift
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location is lovely. The dinner was very good value. The staff were pleasant but lacked authority.
Cons: We originally reserved a double room for €59.35 including breakfast but this was ver small and so we requested a room with an extra bed as our 4 year old could then sleep separately. This was offered at €95 excluding breakfast. We negotiated that breakfast should be included as the room was then of moderate size only but the absent owner by telephone said that we should pay €8.90 for our 4 year old. The room had no window except for a skylight but the blind did not work and so we were awake ver early. The wooden pegs on the bathroom door to hang towels repeatedly fell off. There was a huge amount of fluff, hair and dirt under our bed. The bath was 3 foot long. The access to my side of the bed was very tight and because there was a metal bookcase at shoulder level on the adjacent wall I hurt my shoulder on the sharp corner. The bookcase was empty.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nreakfas was good, good bed.clean
Cons: You could hear steps and water from other rooms. Since they woke up was difficult to sleep again

6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Getting a bit tired. Stayed at this hotel a few years ago. Absolutely nothing has changed. You might be better off in the Ibis Styles just up the road which had better parking facilities. Most importantly, according to my wife...... No hair dryer!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, friendly. I loved the quirky decor. Extremely dog friendly. Excellent position in town. Brilliant pizza.
Cons: No hot option for breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is in a small town near the station . The interior is eclectic with odd pictures and many trophy taxidermy heads on the walls. I was ok with this but a vegetarian might not be as they are staring down at you at breakfast . Breakfast was good . The best thing was the great friendly staff - especially the young man who had learnt his very good English in Birmingham!!
Cons: Town was quiet but we were only there for the night
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel ran by Father and son, walls adorned with quirky art. Every effort was made to make us comfortable particularly in the dining room. Excellent choices of menus, well priced. Saw a little of the Town and decided we shall definitely return.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location is good and the price is very good.
Cons: The food wasn't great and a bit heavy for our taste. The room was very hot
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff was good. Parking was on site for 7 euro's per day. Subway fast food is part of the hotel. Walking distance +/-5 minutes to town.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Town centre was a five minute walk away where there was a selection of bars and restaurants. Very relaxed place.
Cons: The weather was a lot warmer than we expected for the time of year but we had gone for a non comfort room so no air conditioning. Had large windows to front though so plenty of fresh air. If going in summer make sure to book a comfort room with air con.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Wacky decor - not vegan friendly because there is loads of taxidermy everywhere.
Cons: The hotel did not honour the booking.com price & told me to book direct in the future... Not worth making a scene about at the hotel but if booking.com & your hotels are to be trusted the advertised price MUST be the price at checkout...
7.5 Good
Pros: The quality and choice of food in the restaurant were truly excellent, and so was the service. All the staff in the hotel were helpful.
Cons: our room was very small, and the twin beds were not com fortable. The bathroom was very cramped.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was simple but comfortable. The hotel in general was very attractive and inviting. The pizza restaurant downstairs was excellent and the atmosphere very relaxing.
Cons: The restaurant hours were late in the evening, however that is more cultural. We were just hungry and had to wait for it to open.
6.0 Good
Pros: Stay in your hotel every time I drive through France.Although I absolutely hatewhat you havew done with the breakfast room .I loved the posters which fitted perfectly unfortunately the stuffed animals are too big andshould be placed in a grand room with high ceilings. The pictures do not go with the circus type colours you have painted it. The animals put me off my breakfast is that the idea
