We enjoyed a very relaxing family break surrounded by beautiful grounds and it was a perfect location for touring around Kerry. The pool closing time 5pm for children under 16yrs was too restrictive for our older children 11 13 and 15 yrs. It meant after a day touring the area they were home at 6pm and unable to use pool. Unpopular decision on part of hotel.
The scenery was amazing and the food was excellent. Also enjoyed the lodge which was very comfortable and spacious. Couldn't say I disliked anything about our stay and would certainly go back again!.
Room was very small and in need of some refurbishment. Also water was cut off (not the hotels fault) for most of the first day of our stay
The grounds are amazing. The free boat ride is a lovely touch and the music in the bar in the evening was lovely. The spa was lovely.
Ambience and location Needs more lifts installed
I loved the accomadation of the lodges. There were 5 of us and yet we did not feel cramped at all.The wooded walks all around the hotel were very well laid out and the children adored going on these adventures! I didn't like the fact that the bar menu closes at 6pm.Also when we did get room service we had to walk to collet the food from the lodges which on a rainy night wasn't that pleasant.
The relaxed atmosphere and the magnificent surroundings. We felt we were in another world which was peaceful and beautiful. Highly recommend. The excellent low-key service contributed to this otherworld feeling.
Apartment facilities very good and great value for money
Charming old world hotel, excellent spa, fantastic walks
the relaxed ambiance and the magnific SPA and Pool area the entertainment in the bar was terrible
the staff were exceptionally helpful and cheerful
first class food rooms elevators staff. Ideal base for touring Kenmare and Bantry bays and peninsulas
A very relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful --- nothing was a problem.Loved the walks around the Hotel and loved the views from our bedroom--- view of the lake and mountains. Would love to see a swimming pool in the Hotel,
Hotel was clean, staff very helpful.
The location on the ring of Kerry is fantastic. Fact that hotel is within walking distance of village also a plus. Great sense of space in the hotel rooms.
food excellent no
fantastic lovely place to stay very convenient to village
The quality and attention to detail from the courtesy biscuits to the luxurious bed linen
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view. The bed was comfortable and the house staff most agreeable. Apart from the guestrooms, there is no apparent place for relaxing or reading. The open plan of the foyer is pleasant for the visitor, but it does not make for generating any atmosphere of comfort for the resident guest.
The hotel was fabulous, the staff were very friendly and courteous, the food choice and standard were terrific and the rooms were of a very high standard.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The food was gorgeous and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with excellant sea views.
The views and situation of hotel. From the advert it looks grand. Inside was dated. Bed was small double.
Friendliness, Good Service, Informality, Cleanliness.
I thought that the Hotel setting was fantastic, the staff and services were great,I will be recommending the Hotel to my golf buddies.
Ambience, good food, good service.
There for a wedding "fantastic" staff so so nice food fantastic welcome terrific from everyone room spotless value for money ticked all the boxes for me Not the Hotel it is fantastic just the journey is very long from Dublin .............. but well worth the drive .....so all in all not one complaint and I would be of the same mine with all my friends that attended the wedding on 28th August 10
Good Food, Location
Very friendly and helpful staff.Guests made to feel that they are personally welcome.I would recommend the Butler Arms to anyone as the place to stay in the Waterville area.Family run hotels are so much nicer than impersonal members of large chains
The Butler Arms has a warm welcoming feel about it. The staff are friendly and efficient. The hotel accommodation is clean and bright. The food is very good. I was relieved to find a private car park also. I have no complaints.
The terrific welcome laid on for all of us, family & staff were very attentive & made the Wedding a memorable experience, thank you very much, & well done No, nothing at all
no satellite TV; poor cable channels in the room
Friendly staff, friendly locals. Beautiful and quaint. Wall are a little thin, could hear people in the bathroom upstairs quite clearly!!
location suited my needs, was central in the village and easy to find. Room was very nicely furnished and comfortable I understand this hotel is new to the area, and whilst the quality was good (4*) I don't feel it was quite at 4* level. The reception area is very basic, there were no bathroom products only plastic cups,no room safe deposit and no lock on the adjoining door! Fortunately the room next door was empty but we had to wedge a chair against it to feel secure during the night. They obviously are still very new and have a few teething troubles to fix. However we found the staff we spoke to polite and helpful, one even brought our sandwich up to our room to save us waiting at the bar
Access to fabulous Beara Peninsula and great town pubs and restaurants, walks and harbour trips. Friendly staff, great room and facilities. Thinnish walls, some noise heard from other rooms and the hallway.
The staff were - without exception - happy, friendly and helpful. The receptionist who dealt with us was outstanding. She happily showed us 4 different rooms for our selection. This involved going up and down stairs several times and despite this she remained cheerful! The hotel description is inaccurate as it is currently written. They are building a spa and installing a lift - these facilities are already featured in the write up. We enjoyed our stay however.
The receptionist's were very friendly and made me feel at ease and were also very helpful. The room was comfortable and spacious. The national park walk directly opposite meant that this hotel was in an excellent position. The restaurant was also a lovely place to eat. Great food and plenty of it. Apart from a leaky sink, (which I only noticed on the last day and did report) I wasn't too happy with having to leave the key card in a slot just to keep the electricity on. Also there was no shower curtain which made showering a bit awkward. Apart from that I was generally happy with the room.
The staff were very pleasant and environment was relaxing. It would hav ebeen greta to have had a biscuit wiht the tea /coffee facilities in room.
Beautiful location, friendly helpful service, spotlessly clean nicely furbished welcoming comfortable hotel with holiday friendly late breakfast . I would stay here agian. expensive off season bed and breakfast rate.
Location, the rooms were large and bright, and the bed very comfortable, and even though there was some work being done to the Hotel, it wasn't obtrusive the shower in our room was broken, perhaps they should be a little more observant when cleaning.
friendliness of staff
Very friendly and helpful hostess, nice breakfast, lovely springer spaniel puppies and dogs, wonderful views from the windows. Bathroom could do with an overhaul (noisy extractor fan, toilet roll fitting badly placed, elderly bathmat)
The location worked for our trip and the facilities and the owners were terrific. The facility has a lake that is of inyerest to fishing folks, but we were more interested in the location. NO
Lovely room, helpful staff, terrific service, great breakfast, recommended
Refreshments offered on arrival in guest lounge. Assistance offered to get luggage upstairs. Powe rpoints in room.
Comfortable bed, living room, excellent hospitality, quiet location, parking, scenery.
the hospitality was more than we could have ever expected, Mary is such a hostess, nothing was too much trouble and our room was top class, I have stayed in 5 star hotels all over Ireland and i must say this bed and breakfast surpasses any of them, I would recommend the Brookhven 100%
The owner, Mary was very personable, made us feel welcome by bringing us in out of the rain with a hot cup of tea and coffee. They don't have blackout curtains in the bedrooms so with the bright summer nights and early mornings, the rooms are very light - hard to sleep if you are used to darkness!
The location on the edge of Waterville was perfect. Nothing
The friendliness and genuine helpfulness of the proprietor.
Everything was fine ! Large room, quiet, comfortable, clean ...Splendid brekfasts. Mary, the owner, is very friendly (everybody in the house is, actually). She will give you very good advice, including very decent restaurants to go to. Waterville is a good place to discover Co. Kerry.
Warm, welcoming service - very friendly and organized - amazing breakfast!! Great for golfers playing Waterville and easy walking access to the town.
Extremaly friendly owners, view on the Ocen, great rooms, sitting room with a chimney for all guests - very cosy! I would absolutely recommend to anyone! For both family vacation and romantic weekend :)
Friendly staff, cosy bar area & superb restaurant. Booking a room for the night did not guarantee a reservation in the restaurant.Noise from the kitchen late at night, clattering pans etc
The View from the rooms was excellent No heating on in the rooms, TV remote not working
Our second time this year.Loved it the first time, love it still.Back soon.
The food, was very good. Food service especially breakfast was quick & effecient Staff & management distant & unfriendly, is the main reason we will not be recommending to friends/family and we won't stay again.
The location and the restaurant. The room was outdated and not well maintained. The bedding needed replacing.
Food was better than average & service was good Shower & bathroom substandard
the food was good the room was very noisy
The food was excellent rooms dated
The food was excellent and the Guinness was even better. It was comfortable an cosy and the staff were friendly and helpful. bathroom was a little on the small side.
the food was good but very expensive. the dining room service was good. We were refused a wake up call, told to use our mobile phones. Early golfer breakfast was not available, a poor cheese sandwich, a bottle of water and an apple was provided in lieu of breakfast. It was a poor show and we were embarassed to have to admit to our American companion that the hotel were not willing to provide proper service. The hotel is located directly beside the golf course.
Very warm welcome, lovely individual rooms. Choice of breakfast, Irish, pancakes or scrambled eggs and bacon plus fruit, cereals, toast etc. Lots of local tourist information and very helpful when we asked about the new local boat tour, she also asked for our feedback as we were the first guests to go. Local dining would definitely recommend Dooleys but Shellin's which is apparently famed for its shellfish and seafood didn't offer it on the early bird menu, man was a bit grumpy when we went in, so we left. It's an area where it is worth getting to restaurants for the early bird menu as prices per head mean you can get three courses for just one main course - at time of writing 24.95 euros for 3 courses. Good base for Ring of Kerry half way Nothing.
Very friendly lady who didn't hesitate one second to guide us by car as we didn't find the street on our GPS. It was a very windy and cold night, we found our bed preheated with electric blankets. As my wife is vegetarian, pancakes were offered instead of a full Irish breakfast which I enjoyed very much. For a B&B, I can say we felt served like VIP guests. This B&B is an absolute wonderful place to stay when visiting Kerry !
very good breakfast, we did not have a room with a view, looking out on a side yard with a fuel shed on the side wall. Room comfortable, bathroom adequate
Mrs O'Grady was very kind and welcoming. Room was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was made to order and very good! I really enjoyed my stay here.
It was a great little B&B halfway around the Ring of Kerry. Mrs. O'Grady was a wonderful host and was so kind. She made an extra pancake for our toddler, even after she had cleaned up the kitchen. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean with lots of hot water and great water pressure. There was tea/coffee in the room. no complaints.
The room was spacious, clean and bright. The bed was very confortable, and all in all it was excellent value for money no
The beds were godlike. Heated mattress on a king size bed is truly heaven. Did not have this kind of luxury anywhere else. Angela is a fantastic host and such a nice woman, we were happy to have her hospitality after a long day on the trail. We stayed for three nights we enjoyed our stay so much. Good breakfast as well.
Mrs. O'Grady was lovely. She was so gracious and accomodating. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Big room and bathroom. Very clean. Quiet location. Good breakfast.
we were greeted with a warm welcome. Everything was done to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
We stayed for 2 nites during the bh week end - Warm welcome from Breda, the owner. She also gave us plenty of advise on where to go and what to see/visit - The room (No 6) was spotless, King size bed ! Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Seriously I can't find anything to complain about !
Great choice for Breakfast. Comfortable beds and great night sleep .Friendly host.
the freindlyness of the staff and the views
Nice family type superior guest house. Excellent value for the area.
Owners of B&B are very nice & friendly people. Room was very clean & comfortable. Very nice breakfast.
B & B was great! Fantastic service and rooms. You are made to feel right at home on arrival. We enjoyed our stay very much and can't wait to go back.
Breda, the owner, was lovely and accomodating, Our stay was to be for three nights. The first night we had a small room w/single & double bed. We changed our plans to two nights. The second night was find staying in the room we would of stayed for three nights. the name of the b & b would lead you to believe you were on the golf course, not so. We stayed in a number of places during our trip and thought overall it was overpriced.
The Landlady was ever so helpfull and couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant The drainage replacement outside the hotel was noisey at 7.30 in tghe morning but was through no fault of the hotel and will no doubt be finished by now
It was close to where we needed to be. It was very classic on the inside and clean - the bed linens were beautiful!! It is within walking distance of stores and restaurants - the town is lovely. The rooms are not terribly sound-proof and could use some work (to be expected - it is an older house). We found the owner to be friendly and helpful, but at times a little too in your face and wanting to be helpful. Some people might like that but we are a little more private.
The b&b was lovely, as were the owners. Couldnt do enough for us and it was really close to the centre of Waterville. We ate 3 lovely meals each night in Waterville. All walking distance of the Old Cable House.
Bedroom was comfortable. Proprieter friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good - variety of menu plus something different to the norm e.g. smoked salmon and poached eggs, pancakes with fruit - delicious! No television or tea/coffee making facilities in room. T&C was available on request free of charge
There was a delicious breakfast and the staff was very friendly. The bathroom was quite big. The rooms were a little bit small, so there was not much room for the suitcases.
the friendlyness and the staff couldn't do enough for us extension was not complete no covering on dining room floor and fitting not finished
staff courtesy and friendly. my reservation was not "confirmed" at hotel, is not an hotel but a B&B, I was accommodated on a different room (respect the one that I have reserved), the bathroom in the "new" room was not ensuite (differently from my reservation)
not a lot we belived it to be a hotel it turned out to be a b&b
The welcome to the b&b was somewhat unusual, the receptionist did not introduce himself, merely silently escorted me to a door which ultimately was the bedroom. When asked about activities in the area, he had no information to offer. The orange juice for breakfast seemed to be diluted concentrate from a tin
