Cottage was a good size for a family of 4
Outdoor pool,if small was nice. Luckily the hotel was not busy. The attached Spa was not included, despite the feeling that it was from the website. Cottage rooms are not really for 4 people, but 1 night was fine. Too much noise caused by tiled floor!
The environment and the staff politeness. Not to get my room at my arrival time, 1 p.m, even if it was precised on the booking receipt.
We felt that it met our needs as a pure stop-over location. It was handy for the autoroute, had a pool and dining facilities.
Nice setup and facilities. Bathroom moldy.
Reception staff was helpful; we got a cottage at a better location than the one we first got (close to parking and road) when we asked for it. Cleanliness could be better, cottage equipped only basically.
easilly accessible location, staff OK food very common and restricted breakfast offer (few over cooked pastries and pre-packed cheese - pretty disappointing). open wine of very poor quality. very uncomfortable mattress.
The food was excellent in restaurant, views across golf course, bedrooms and price of overnight stay. The slow service in the restaurant.
The children enjoyed the golf facilities
We stayed here in a cottage for one night with a toddler as a stop from London to Montpellier. It was great to be able to put the toddler to bed upstairs and then cook ourselves dinner downstairs without disturbing her. The room was clean. The swimming pool was clean and warm for a post-breakfast dip in the morning before another day in the car.
Just perfect for a stop-over - easy to find and great to have parking provided. Friendly staff and very useful that the man who greeted us at reception spoke English. Bathroom could have been cleaner.
Off road, secure parking (we had canoes on the top of our car). No resturant
Nice location and good facilities made this very good value for money. free WiFi throughout the hotel was a strong plus. Good value breakfasts - with proper coffee!
It is very well located facing Loire river. 10 minutes walking to city centre We had room for 3 ans only towels for 2.
easy to find, large parking space, nearby city centre noise parking space (late arrivals/early departures), smell of the room (cleaning?)
Convenient car parking (free). Room serviced very late in day.
closeness of the city within walking distance breakfast not included quite expensive for what you got
The evening and morning staff was very helpful and a pleasure to talk to. Their English was much much better than my French but they let me try my language skills and also gave me some French pointers. Overall - staff, accommodations, breakfast, ample parking, and the location to the river walking path – downtown - and the highway worked great for holiday.
hotel was clean ,comfortable and in a good location nothing
I especially loved that the location was near the river, and that my room was so very quiet, as it face those beautiful Midieval walls of the old city. Also that there was free use of the computer.
Friendly staff, we were running very late and they were very helpfulI would stay there again
THERE WAS A SECURE CAR PARK AS WE WERE TRAVELLING THOUGH TO SOUTHERN FRANCE. THE EVENING MEAL WAS DISAPPOINTING.
Basic but excellent value and very friendly owner.
The breakfast choice was exceleant. There was no Restaurant, or if there was we were not made aware of it. We had presumed that as a Restauranr was included in the information we would be able to have an evening meal there.
impossible to find.
That we arrived late and left early and did not have to stay too long in this dump. The very small bedroom and bathroom, being in an industrial estate, it was only worth about half the amount you charged us.
located on an industrial estate we found no evidence on signs which would have helped greatly in locating the hotel which several local people were not aware of and could not direct us to !
It had a toilet The generator in the factory next door was noisy and ran on and off all night. No bedside tables.
Approach roads were busy during shopping hours but that is a small problem
The whole stay was great, The room is very large with two double beds, the bathroom was very nice. I really enjoyed breakfast. The internet speed was pretty good. It was in the middle of the city. I relly enjoyed it. None
close to the town centre, private parking
Room and facilty Limited menu fir dinner. Had better selection at IBIS Millau
Check in was smooth. Breakfast was good. Nice to be able to make a cup of coffee in the bedroom, bur only one not adequate provision for two cups. Facilities in bathroom were god Bathroom door was dirty both sides showing that it is never cleaned Check man was rther cocky and treated us as elderly and not interested in our stay. Coffee at breafast was cold as it had been standing for too long in a vacum flask some of
Located on the banks of the Loire, within walking distance of the city centre, this hotel makes an ideal base for exploring the town. The staff were friendly, the restaurant was perfectly acceptable and the rooms were quiet and spacious. The rooms are quite expensive unless you book in advance and breakfast, parking and internet access are available only if you are prepared to pay a hefty supplement.
The staff were friendly and the rooms were good.
Good view from room over the River, excellent sound insulation on the windows ensuring the room whilst overlooking a busy road and bridge, very quiet. Good parking facilities.
Very clean and quite newly refurbished. Free coffee in lobby and free wifi. Very clean toilets. Great buffet breakfast. Easy to find location and parking was easy. Feels a bit like a Hilton. Price was good too. Staffing was 3-4 star. Receptionist very friendly and helpful. Staff for dinner and breakfast were nice but not highly professional to match the looks of the hotel. Bar tender was rude and closed bar early.
The friendliness and efficiency of the staff, the convenience of the parking, the spaciousness of the room and the good breakfast. Nothing to comment about here.
Everything worked as it should. Definitely one of the better Mercure Hotels. Perhaps a bit pricey compared to comparable competitors. The entrance to the hotel is via a one way road system that is abit convoluted as it is in a traffic-busy part of Orleans.
Hotel was as expected and portrayed web site. No problem for a short stay and well priced for Orleans. Friendly staff.
I liked the free internet services, although was unable to connect in my suite due to faulty telephone connection9Was reported and immediately noted down. Also liked the kitchen facilities The automatic light in the toilet which comes on when you enter the bathroom. As a light sleeper i was woken up every time my husband went to the toilet.Bathroom near the bed
An excellent stop-over hotel, really comfortable and well-equipped family suite which easily accommodated four of us. Ideal mid-point when driving to the south of France and will use again
Ideal for travellers who want to be self-contained, i.e. a kitchenette with all facilities, fridge, microwave, coffee and tea making facilities etc etc. and comfortable beds. Good for overnight stay and also as base whilst visiting the Orleans area. Will deffinitely use again. Found the bathroom arrangement a bit strange. WC is in the bathroom with only a louvre door separating it from the bedroom . Apart from that the bathroom was fine with good shower (not often something you get in France) hairdryer etc. etc.
Comfortable, clean and convenient
Its room size was ideal, being sound proofed, suite style, parking & breakfast & access to restaurants in walking distance
Well equipped, very smart and comfortable room (espace suite) provides everything you need for a short stay in the Orleans area. Very friendly staff and a good breakfast selection (didn't try the hot dishes). Much better than the conventional chain hotels in the area. Nothing negative about the hotel, but Orleans centre is about 3-4 miles drive - easy though and parking is good when you return to the hotel.
Very well thought out brand new accommodation. Ideal for a family with small children. Secure, clean and easily accessible from the N20 or A10.
The room was amazing. Very comfortable after a long drive up from the South. You need a car as the hotel is on the outskirts of town.
Very good check-in & check-out, very good staff Breakfast, cold selection was ok, sausage & egg was disgusting.
The perfect spot for travellers to rest. Close to the motorway with very good staff, room and breakfast. Will definately be using them again.
We enjoyed our night at this hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Resturant very good. Note that not all facilities ie. bistro and bar are open all year.
On site parking - on site restaurant - convenient for stop-over en route back to UK - quiet room with no traffic noise - pleasant town. Slightly run down - especially bedroom. Short of staff (though it must be said that they were always polite, worked very hard and tried thier best to keep up) Plastic flowers on the dining room tables.
Very riendly staff and good, comfortable, quiet rooms. We recommend.
Location Food was poor compared with previous years - new chef?
Reception did not open until 730
lovely location in a pretty town, kind staff, professional
It has a swimming pool which could be nice in hot weather Bathroom could have been cleaner, service in restaurant was poor. No comfortable chairs in bedroom.
The restaurant is very good. The rooms are somewhat dated.
Very central. Rom was a good size. Nothing
The location and the staff The bed was old, lumpy and very uncofrtable.
A perfect place for families with young children to stop on the way to the South of France. Clean, modern, welcoming and relaxing. Much more 'holiday-ish' than any city hotel I have ever stayed in, the ideal place to recharge batteries during a long drive. Very friendly guests too! More staff in the bar/restaurant would have been good as service was a little slow - although the staff that were there worked very hard.
Restaurant open long hours to accomodate travellers
Outside of hotel may put off visitors as it is pretty basic looking, however the inside of the hotel is wonderful with a lovely central garden and pool, tennis courts, table tennis and al fresco area. We had two rooms, not interconnecting, but next to one another with large bed and sofa bed. Had dinner in restaurant, enjoyable vegetarian cuisine and a super breakfast, lots of choice including innocent smoothies!
It is a good hotel for a stopover.
The food was excellent. I could not move the bath water supply from bath to shower. Room 243
The rooms were a reasonable size, clean and modern, free wifi, staff were very helpful and attentive, plenty of parking and near all local places of interest, although the location itself was\quiet and attractive. Some of the doors seemed very noisy at night as people came in and out.
Excellent hotel - very good value for money. Spacious and modern rooms, very clean and good facilities - restaurant, cafe, internet. This hotel deserves another star on its rating!
Cheap, but very modern + comfortable room Price of breakfast
Nice clean room & good service Would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the room
Excellent breakfast, tennis court (free equipment), friendly staff, good ambience
It was very conveniently situated to explore Orleans. The room was rather small and the towels were rather rough. The parking was tricky as it was in a very full public car park.
Friendly staff! Good breakfast for the money!
Did not like the noise!! The walls are too thin - I don't like hearing men going to the toilet, or chattering all night. I would have liked a mirror in the bedroom as well as in the bathroom.
the rooms needed some tlc
Easy to find and very central. Very helpful staff and good advice on where to park, eat etc. Basically badly decorated, dirty, smelly and in urgent need of refrubishment.
the location so close to the centre of Orleans was superb. Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff who were very understanding about my terrible french. Bathroom a bit poky. Room very basic and absolutely no extras.
Quiet, comfortable room. Cheery, helpful staff. I found it difficult to find when walking from the station on the first night. Local people didn't know the address either! Once I found the route it was easy, just off the main street!
Good Location in the middle of town, everything within walking distance. Located on a busy and noisy street, hard to sleep through. Walls between rooms are also thin and definately not soundproof
Very helpful and obilging staff. Real French style hotel, basic but very clean. Breakfast good and location very close to centre of Oleans. Parking can be a problem if using a roofbox. I booked private parking which was arranged but this copes with vehicles 1.9 metres or less. Ensuite bathroom seperated by wonky concertina door. Towels on hard side. Good television.
Room in need of refurbishment. Overcharged on room and breakfast, a total of €8.00 Please refund. When queried, their knowledge of english disappeared.
We were passing through enroute to the Pyrennees There were only 2 sachets of coffee in the room. When we asked the night man for 2 more we were told that they had none available. It was due to the attitude of this member of staff that I marked staff as fair. The check in and out staff were excellent.
Very good location, in the city center. Excellent breakfast. Small but confortable room. Professional staff. Good value for money.
Concierge after booking the money for the room were blocked twice (they said just to check the validity of the card)
Friendliness of staff, proximity to city center, overall atmosphere of the hotel
Hotel is located in a pedestrian area, so access to the hotel with a car is slightly confusing and hopefully not illegal :) It might be good to have this topic clarified in the hotel info...
No car parking.
Location, location. location. The staff is very nice. Rooms are very clean. It is located near Louvre and some metro stations. Breakfast is fine. Rooms are small and isn't enought light.
The character of the hotel and its location made this a lovely change from the bland stereotypical offerings from the usual hotel chains. The breakfast was also first class. Be aware that unloading luggage at the front door can be a problem due to a combination of lack of space and the tram cars passing by. It is also tricky to locate depite being very central due to traffic restrictions and said tram cars. My suggestion would be to park first in one of the nearby public car parks and walk to the hotel and assess the best way to get your luggage to the front door. Once you done this everything falls into place.
The Staff, both the reception desk and breakfast staff were very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was very nice, well presented, and very well cared for. The rooms were clean and neat, great towels. The lighting in our room was poor. Near the bed were only two small and very low height situated bedlights ... and there was only one other lamp in the room. raising the two lamps by the beds would improve the situation tremendously.
The room was very nice, quite, airconditioned. Good location, breakfast, internet was free. The bathroom was very small.
staff are very helpful and along with the style of the hotel provides a unique ambience for a stay. We were very disappointed with the cost of food drink and wine etc Some years ago we had an excellent stay at the hotel and enjoyed an excellent table d'hote menu. Having stayed at some excellent hotels in the Sawday's guide on our 10 day trip around France the Hotel now we feel is not providing as good value as it once was. We spoke to fellow guests who felt the same, consequently we dined away from the hotel after our first night on all inclusive menus of 30 - 40 euros of excellent quality and with good wines from 18 euros upwards.
excellent staff and very helpfull.
Very friendly and helpful staff and management, excellent food, comfortable rooms and charming atmosphere.
I expected a 4 star hotel, but la Tonnellerie cannot be classified as such. Maximum a 3 star, and even then the bathroom needs a thorough renovation. The quality of the food in the restaurant was absolutely not up to standard. Hardly any choice on the menu card, and the prices were far too steep for food that was pre-cooked, without any imagination. Fortunately we ate the rest of our journey in far better restaurants and for much lower prices.
Great quiet setting, and outstanding interest by staff Had to go outside for dinner
Like the garden and the hotel staffs were great, very helpful and friendly. No fridge in the room, the street from the main road is not easily recognizable.
Friendly welcome, excellent cuisine, beautiful garden, swimming pool and quiet setting No
Professional staff, friendly, welcoming and accommadating. Especially appreciated the straight forward carte menu. Would go again. Although comfortable the bathroom could be updated.
Very pretty, individual and interesting, with lots of character. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful, also the owner. The food was excellent and the courtyard garden was a lovely sunny spot to have a drink/snack. Just a pity the weather wasn't good enough for the pool to be open. Only one thing - our room had an unpleasant smell of stale smoke, although the room our children stayed in was fine.
we have stayed there before and like it very much it is a great shame that they have closed there restaurant
Location of hotel and layout. Privacy. Helpful and courteous staff
It was convenient. inexpensive Yes. there was blood on a pillowcase and the toilet was not clean. the satff were singularly disinterested.we have stayed many times at campaniles and never been this dissatisfied. I really hope this will not happen again as we intend to stay again in october
Food mostly good, staff helpful Rooms and grounds a bit "tired" could do with sprucing up.
The Evening meal and helpful staff
The evening meal was good value.Good location for stop-over only. There was only a buffet breakfast. Not worth paying 9 Euros each for a family of four especially when children just over the 10 year age limit for a child's price.More motel than hotel.
Having stayed at Issoire the week before the difference in standard was great. This hotel looks old. The restaurant service and quality of food was not as good as Issoire. We had booked two twin rooms but were given one twin and one double. This may have been because we asked for them next door to each other but it was not what we had booked.
Very Clean, had no smoking rooms which was great.
Breakfast is too expensive for the quality.
The staf were helpful, the rooms were basic but clean, the loocation was interesting. No
The friendliness of the staff; they were all so helpful
owners were very friendly and also very helpful with local information
Nice, typically French location None
Very pleasant gardens, good parking, dog-friendly owners no tea/coffee making facilities in the room
The owners were very friendly and efficient, the hotel and garden was lovely and a real taste of France!
friendliness of the personnel and garden -
Bedrooms although small had lovely old-French style furniture. Bathroom had been refitted and was very smart. Room very hot at night - a fan would have been good.
The owners were very nice with the guests, offering information and advice. The yard was beautiful. They also have a nice rabbit.
Friendly, spotless, well decorated hotel with really lovely rooms. All in all a very pleasant hotel which I would recommend to all of my friends.I would definately choose to stay here again. Not that I did not like......but it would have been nice to have had access to tea/ coffee making facilitites in the room.Otherwise the hotel really can't be faulted on any point.
The hotel was an ideal stop over point for those travelling up or down France. It was comfortable and clean; the outside terrace and grounds were a plus point as was the private parking. It wasn't the easiest of locations to find - I would definitely advise a detailed map! The breakfast was overpriced too - the proprietors should either reduce the cost or offer their visitors a greater range of food.
Very Peaceful and very Clean
The hotel was excellent value and perfect for our overnight stop as we drove to spain
As we were travelling across France from The Alsace to Honfleur it was very convenient as a stopover as very near to motorway. Easy to find thanks to SatNav! Not really a long term holiday hotel.
ease of check in Food
Food was good but expensive, good facilities fort the kids Room was adaquate for a family of 4 for 1 maybe 2 nights as a stop overbut would not recommend for longer to small.
Very efficient and friendly staff. The room was spacious and well equiped. The whole hotel was very clean and well presented. The food was excellent.
Location was convenient. Dinner in the restaurant was the first inedible meal after 2 weeks in Europe. No way to control the ventilation and air circulation in the room, making it a hot airless box in which it was impossible to sleep.
Very comfortable beds meant a good night's sleep was had by the whole family. Very clean and well kept room. Good buffet breakfast. No facility for an inexpensive evening snack. Food expensive. Receptionist not always at the desk. Room rather small for a family room. We were rushed at breakfast - staff started to clear away the buffet before we had finished eating.
It was a great stop over point for travelling through France, the xbox in the foyer was a a welcome surprise for the children after a long journey. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I very comfortable, spacious, clean and a super resturant
