Warm, clean, central location Hotel clean, but somewhat tired. Needs refurbishment to justify very high prices.
The reception desk was very friendly and helpful Bar personnel was not always available and not always very friendly
Have stayed at this hotel a number of times, a couple of times with my 3 children. My children love it here. Food is excellent. Hotel is very quiet at night and staff are extremely helpfull. Most of them speak english. The hotel is in a good location for all amenites. 2 minute walk to beach and five minute walk to shops.Would recommend this hotel to anyone. First class. Absolutely nothing.
Location Windows not doubled glazed so if you are on the 2nd floor as we were, you get to hear the traffic passing, the two coach loads of teenagers waiting for their bus at 7am in the morning and the engines of the coaches running and the draught that came through the window frame in the evening !!
Clean and comfortable The noise during the night kept me awake. Request a room that is not over looking the pool and this should solve the noise problem.
The hotel is Ok for the money it costed, the rooms are good and clean, the receptionists speak English, it is well-located - near the beach - only a couple of minutes, and near to the main street. The hotel is quite old, the rooms are renovated but the "open spaces" are visibly old. The only people in the hotel who speak English are the receptionists - all the other staff cannot or doesn't want to speak English and it is very difficult even to ask for a glass of water. The resort is very noisy - it is perfect for people who are using their vacation for going to discos but definitely good sleep is not something to be expected. The walls in the hotel are also very thin and you could hear your room-neighbours as if they were in your own room. However, these problems are typical for all the hotels in the resort. Therefore, this one is a good choice compared to the others.
It is near to the beach. Food variety is good.Is fresh. The wall is so thin, You can hear everything from next room. You can sleep when your neighbor is going to sleep. . I think if guests with family are located at one floor or in one direction, to separate with guests with no family, it will solve the problem.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpfull and nothing was a any trouble for them.Great food,
The Hotel was clean, the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and it was in a good location to beach, shops and restaurants. Nothing.
There are very much tumultuous Britisch people in the hotel. There was lots of noise, also during the night
Nothing, the rooms were very dirty, and the staff was very unpolite. Very noisy, the food was bad and beds was very hard uncomfrtable and very simple standard.
nothing the hotel was very poor
The check-out The environment on this hotel is "teenager on all include holidays", consequently the staff treat all the customers as teenagers (independent of their age). The staff is very rude, ask pre-payment and confiscates the guest's passports during the stay. The hotel should put kindergarden employees on the corridors all nigh to take care of the drunk teenager and making possible for the other guests to sleep.
I liked the time we had away from your hotel, this is not a family hotel its for noisy louts and for people who do not remotely care where they stay. the food is terrible and the staff rude.
Good and helpful personnel at the reception, Short period for breakfasts and dinner comparing with number of people staying in it
We had stayed at this hotel before and although there are a lot of students staying the hotel is great value for money, the staff are all helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a great location.
The staff was very carefull and prestable. Some room improvements were needed. There were some old equipments.
The hotel was great value for money, the staff were helpful and the room clean and comfortable. We arrived very late after dinner had finished and were offered snacks inn the dining room which we really appreciated, no other hotel in this area has done that when we arrived late.
Found it great for familys. Staff helpful and good location for beach and shops and restaurants. Food could have been better
-very friendly staff (reception and too restaurant); -clean and nice room with balcon; -bathroom with shampoo+gel+tooth brush; -very and good food; -open swimming pool in Januar (indoor); - nice place (not directly on beach - 350m, but nice - pinies etc)
That the hotel was renovated recently, that the reception staff was friendly and helpful, that Callela had a quiet and pleasant atmosphere and that it was near Barcelona. That the drinks for the all inclusive menu weren't the real thing (the Coke wasn't real Coke), that the dining room could be improved, same with the food and that the sunbeds near the hotel's beach bar weren't free. Also, the cleaning staff from the upper levels were rather slow, sometimes we didn't have our room clean until 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
The hotel staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. the quality and variety of food in the restaurant was excellent. Hotel was very impressive with its cleanliness and facilities. It you are thinking of booking this hotel please do so you won't be disappointed Nothing negative can be said of this hotel
On arrival we were told we were at the wrong hotel, when I showed my booking form the then said tHEY had overbooked and we had to be moved to a diffrent resort. I refused to move resorts and was eventually given a small box room that was meant to sleep 2. I will not book through your company again or this hotel as my holiday was ruined due to staff attitude and being let down by my booking. AS I have said above, and the entertainment consisted of a spanish old age pensioner disco.
1. Crowd for breakfast, 2.Too noise of young neighbours early in the morning 3. Uniform and plain food (mess commons) for breakfast
we loved the the cleanliness and the spacious rooms. staff were friendly and helpful, food was fresh and plentiful - would go back again. didn't like the noise from the bar, the cigarette smoke drifting up to our room from outside the bar every night, nor the ash and cigarette ends which ended up on our balcony from the rooms above. some of the guests could be a bit rowdy but we didn't frequent the bar so had no problems.
Food was very good.
The hotel was classed as 4 star, I dont know who gave it this rating as it would be at best a poor 3 star. The dining room service was terrible, people had to queue up for a cup of tea. The quality of the food was comparble to that of prison food. There was poor sound-proofing between rooms and you could here those next door coughing, talking etc
Good size rooms which were very clean & comfortable. I loved the location of the hotel - a 10 minute walk down to the many shops and restaurants. The beaches are absolutely beautiful again a 10 minute walk from hotel. We did not eat much in the hotel but I was impressed by the high quality of the food and variety in the evening. The hotel staff could do with attending a customer service course! The place was run to suit the staff and not the guests with too many unneccessary rules and regulations! The staff are very rude and tended to bark orders to the guests instead of politely asking. I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed on a few occassions.
For the price you can't go wrong. The rooms were fine, maid service excellent, evening entertainment was really good. Easy access via Renfe train from Barcelona changing at Sants Estacio for the airport. Only cost £7 - £8 return. Trains ever 20 mins or so. The gammon was the best I have ever tasted and there was always 5 or 6 choices for hot evening meal as well as salads. The staff were great and the reception staff especially helpful, Food was fine but they could have put fried eggs on every morning and we didn't have cooked tomatoes once. The bacon was also too fatty so we didn't have cooked breakfasts. There were plenty of alternatives though so we did have plenty to eat. Also this is the first hotel where we were given a half hour slot for evening meal, we were told to go in at 7.30 to 8.00 pm although obviously could stay as long as you wanted and eat as much as you want!
It was a short walk to beach and shops. The rooms were clean and of good size.good size pool and plenty of sunbeds.plenty of places to sit and have a drink.
stuff was very nice and helpful in room there wasn't any glasses and fridge also no hair dryer
Good price, swimming pool is nice. The buffet was OK. Wi-fi was ver intermitent and only available on the lobby.
I've participated to a triathlon Ironman in Calella and for this event, this hotel has especially served a breakfast for competitors at 5:00 am. It's a service very appreciated.
easy access to beach and shops etc
peace, food, pool
The staff spoke Spanish, English and German. Good breakfast (see minus). Silent area close to beach and town center. The price did not include use of safety-box, internet or refrigiator. For this you have to pay extra and that is irritating since it is not the normal situation at hotels at similar standard. On top of this the secured parking cost more than average. To have a lactose and gluten free breakfast (essential to one of us) minimized your choices.
Nice location. Close to the beach. Busy, even slightly out of season. Breakfast was good value, at least some hot food on offer which is not common. Parking is a nightmare. It is a lottery. Do not park in the garage up the street as the space to get out is almost impossible and the wall is covered in rubber protection because even in a Smart car you would probably drive up against the wall.
The buffet breakfast had an excellent variety.
Close to beach, town and main road.
Everything was conveniently located. The buffet was the best Ive ever had. I usually keep away from inclusive stuff because im never satisfied. I had low expectations with breakfast and was very impressed. Staff was fun and helpful. No air conditioning when wanted. Mostly the window did the job but there was a time a wanted a/c and I was told that I would only get hot air.
the calmness the elevators
indoor pool was useful as the outdoor pool was too busy due to the amount of young teenagers there ( summer season ) bathroom could have done with re-grouting ( small point but it made it look unclean )
The generous spirit of hotel staff and local people in aiding my stay that I didn't book a longer stay
The choice of breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpfull Having to check out!
The cleanliness and the view of the beach from our balcony Nothing
That was holiday.
It was next to the railway station so you could get out to Barcelona very easily. almost all of the staff could speak Dutch, it was not an spanish experience. It looked like we were still in our home town. Terrible! Futhermore it was way to expensive for what you get. Also Calella is not a Spanish style, but rather some kind of theme park with the theme: being turistic.
Excellent location: close to the beach and the center of town, not far from Barcelona (about 40-50 km) with good transport connection. There were no problems with parking. Hotel staff is very frendly. Restaurant is excellent. Good room & hotel facilities. It's a bit noisy from the nearest railway.
Excellent multi language staff, good restaurant, convenient placement, good price for staying Not very good noise proof so sometimes it's noisy in the room because of neighbors
I was competing in the Half Challenge Barcelona and this is probably the closest hotel to transition. The hotel even put on an early breakfast at 5am for competitors. The hotel is next to the train station, which makes for early wake ups if not prepared although this wasn't a problem for me.
Although the hotel is situated near the railway station this is by no means a negative point, the trains are quiet and the close proximity to the station means close proximity to the beach. The staff very friendly, the hotel clean and the town and bars close enough to enjoy without encrotching into the hotel itself.
access to town within walking distance; breakfast buffet was excellent; balcony holiday time so the beach town was loud as well as noise from the train; no ice; front desk does charge percentage for money exchange
The swimmingpool was ok. They say they clean room every day. If changing towells is cleaning than its ok. I cleaned the floor myself. In a hotel like this you get sand from the beach every day.
location nicely in the middle of calella. sound insulation is 'non-existent' - Lady GaGa isn't my favorites, especially after midnight (some younger people going clubbing).
Great location, walking distance to the beach. Very comfortable and great for kids. The affiliated parking garage is extremely narrow - even for European standards.
Good sized room with air conditioning and very high standard of cleanliness Nothing
clean good value for money small rooms mostly german people in hotel small pool
The late and not complete cleaning of the rooms and the rare cleaning of the swimming pool.
hard working staff keep this place spotless.a nice mix of nationalities stay here.apatments equipped with an excellent ,fridge, toaster, hobbs and nice air con
Enough beds at swimming pool. Friendly personnel. Airco only works when balcony door locked, such that we couldn't stay on the balcony while our kids were sleeping. Wifi available only near the door (we had a room at the edge of the hotel).
The staff was extremely helpful and we had a very enjoyable stay
It is in a quiet street, but close to the beach and to all other amenities.
staff and food noise between rooms
It is not high only 4 floors only euro sports and cnn in english
Pretty good hotel if you have no high requirements to the size of the room for fur people. Reastaurant is very good.
Nice hotel in a nice location, close to the train station. Rooms are modern and very clean. Walls are rather thin, noise from rooms next door easily penetrate through the wall and can disturb you. Breakfast not available before 7:45, so no breakfast if you're on business and need to leave early.
Close to the beach, friendly staff, clean room, nice restaurant near by. Family room is the same with standart room just added extra bed but price increased on 50%. We hade some problem with noise nights becouse the next door guests were very "energetic" with songs, drinks etc. It means there is a not good isolation between rooms.
The hotel is located near the beach and more or less near the railway station. There were a lot of various food in the restaurant. The drinks for the dinner are too expensive. E. g. A cup of tea from the teabag - 1.5 EUR, 0.5 l of Coca-Cola - 2 EUR. The walls are too thin, so I could hear the elevator's movement next to my room.
very good hotel situated next to shop area and at a 3 minutes walk to the beach. excellent food(a lot of sea fruits) and staff. the dining area was a little too crowded
Breakfast was amazing. Hotel is fresh & clean. Breakfast ends at 10 AM, a little early. Room was above children's play pen so very noisy.
We like to seat on the balkony. The location was very good. The coffee in the mornning. The hotel demand check out very early.
The service was wonderful throughout our stay there. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Location was great as well- near a small town and close to the beach.
Montaltmar is a very small, cosy and luxurious Hotel on the North East coast of Spain. It is truly worth a visit and especially if you are looking for a place to relax either alone or with a significant other. In room amenities were up to the standard of the best London hotels.
Good breakfast, manager of hotel is very polite, good position. no parking place, arrogant man on reception, crashed car behind the hotel
Excellent value for money
The staff were very nice and helpfull. The room was very clean. Did not like the food. We went to restaurant early for meal and there was a queue. We went later on to try it out and the staff were clearly not happy as they were setting up for the next service. Even had to wait in a queue to make toast/
The room and common space are very good and clean. The food is excellent. Small pool. Expensive hotel private parking (but it was not big issue to find free parking 50-100 meters from hotel), safe cost 4 additional Euros per day.
food was great
Great location! Very small pool, bad room cleaning.
Having been before, we were disappointed at the changes in the hotel, ie, the food was always cold and not very appetising. The all inclusive card which used to allow 2 drinks per person per day at the beach bar, has now been reduced to just 1 drink per person per day. Lack of activities and evening entertainment. A very large group of teenage boys who were on a rugby tour, but were staying in the hotel between matches, comandiered the swimming pool and made it unpleasant for toddlers and smaller children
friendly staff, good selection on buffet and very proffessional would be nice to have a bigger pool area
Have been to this hotel many times and always get such a warm welcome, especially from the Dining Room staff. They are also very much aware of special diets and are willing to provide what is required. Not enough sunbeds and lack of control of rowdiness around the pool.
Very good breakfast. Close the the beach, parking was kind hard
Nothing The balcony was viewed on all sides and looked as if it would fall down if you stood on it.there was no furniture on balcony and it was extremely noisy.
Yes.The hotel location prohibited the trasfer vehicles.I had a half hour walk to and from the hotel, being partially disabled.I did not hhave the fare(8 Euros)for a cab. Also there wasn't any soap providedmair conditioning was charged as extra and the meals were double what you quoted in your booking confirmation. This hotel was not up to your usual standard.
Everything was perfect
Friendliness and helpfulness of the Staff.
The staff were really nice especially the bar manager, the reception staff were really helpful too, enjoyed the hotel for a short break the small swimming pool, and the olympic one next door we feel the information given gave false imressions that it was infact part of the hotel, if staying for a week would be disappointed with the pool area
very jkind staff.Spa very good
breakfast good, SPA - exellent a long distance from train stop.
Location of the hotel
I've stayed in the Hotel for a week, the location was perfect within 1 hour (train) commuting to Barcelona, 20 min walk to the train station & close to the shopping area 15 min walk, while having some relaxing time, spa was huge and superb(up to 3 hours daily included in price),though some extras were unexpected...or maybe haven't been passed on..gym is payable (E6); i got a chance to enjoy the local fest--in September, with live band performance and Catalan treats, though everything was closed the day before. the hotel is very small, and the room's decor is a bit dated;also my room was above the laundry+kitchen..so the noise of the machines and bottles was constant and as well, the "factory"noise at night - not sure if it was a boiler from the nearest hotel or something else, and the Olympic pool(only for training; spa has only 1 row for swimming no lights there after 6pm-very dangerous;even when i requested to turn on a bit of light, they couldn't do it) was crowded with hard-working Russian trainers who couldn't stop shouting at poor kids; and no view of any kind only huge hotel blocking the light(as the hotel has only 3floors); it was impossible to sit on the balcony; and the balcony was filthy - I've ended up cleaning it myself
Various languanges speaking staff, friendly and helpful. Access to a very nice spa and big swimming pool. Avoid rooms on the back side of the building, they are dark, noisy, without any interesting view (very close surrounding hotels).
Hotel has WI-FI Poor Breakfast
Good location very nice and helpful stuff ,secure parking (10 euro per night)good ac nice and clean Small balcony faced another hotel balcony
Good location ,friendly family run hotel with daily access to an Olympic size pool and a luxurious spa included in the price of accommodation .I was very pleased with the hotel which was a big hit with my husband and teenage children.
The staff is very helpful and friendly, family rooms nice, food ok. The hotel has a good location upon a hill. The 3 pools and Jacuzzi is very nice. The kids loved the Miniclub and the staff there. Thank you all for a lovely vacation! Many young german guests at the hotel, whom could sometimes get a bit noisy. Thin walls in the rooms. But overall not a problem.
This hotel is great if you have children, but the miniclub is from 5 years and up. a lot of activities at the hotel, aquaaerobics, shows at night and flippergames etc. It was a good stay. I wasnt disturbed at night. Dinnerbuffet was ok, but not fantastic. Jacuzzi costs extra, personnel at reception was not serviceminded, breakfastbuffet was bad, no eggs and bacon or vegetables (good if you want cookies and other sugarloaded food for breakfast).
Breakfast and dinner are good. The hotel is full of teenagers. Very, very noisy in the day and night. The reception is unfriendly and unhelpful.
Accommodation was basic but roomy. Good value for money One female Reception member was very unhelpful on being asked to confirm flight departure.
Location and entertainment programme
personal and cleanliness wearing the braslets is not comfortable
Close to the beach. Hotel stuff not particulary nice and helpful. You have to pay deposit for everything, starting from having an iron in the room ending on a fridge. Meals OK but not really special. Very loudly, mess on the reception, stuff on the reception may have a problem with English.
Good value for money was further from the beach than i expected
brakfast and asistance from check in clark bar area and meals
I chose the hotel because of low price. And, as for that price, the hotel was fairly good, and hotels' describing was realy fair: it is really 400 m from the sea, realy has two pools and so on. Realy clean. I think breakfast was also ok, exept total absence of fruits and vegetables. But you can survive without them, you know :-). At the reception, they have too less people (one lady and always busy, because the hotel is big), besides, their English is realy low. I could't get very simple information. Also it was confusing to read warnings in the room, that you'll be checked by roommaide before leaving (that means - maybe you've stolen a towel or smth ?), or in the dining room, that you can not take meal with you outside. It remained me country that does not longer exists - Soviet Union, where you were treated always as a potential thieve. Does this realy is so necessary today and in eu ?..
