Great room at a great price. they need to extend their WI-FI to the rooms. now they have it only on the lobby.
Very good service staff on reception, beautiful main hall and little garden All rooms and other premises need renovation, furniture is seem like relative new but not convenient. Air conditioner works strange, it is impossible to setup it do not blow directly to the bed. Room service is careless. Parking near the hotel after 3.00-4.00 p.m. is very difficult. There is no gym in the hotel. Definitely not four stars.
Location - close enough to the city, the room was clean and spacious except the bath that can fit to babies or extra thin persons No pool in april, no view from my room. I would rate it as 3 stars. I stayed at the hotel only one night, so it was OK
Location was excellent. Really close to the old town and the beach. The staff were helpful and communication before and during our stay was very good. Breakfast could have been more varied. There was limited staff during breakfast time which meant that often tables were not cleared out quickly enough and the food was not replenished in time. But when asked they responded straightaway. Also, there were only steps at the entrance of the hotel which meant that we had to lift our suitcases ourselves, but again, when asked for help the concierge was happy to help.
Achillion Palace was an ideal hotel for our holiday, close to the beach, right in the middle between the old and new areas. The old town was a 2 minute walk, loads of shops, tavernas etc. Hotel was perfectly comfartable, clean and the staff friendly. We had a great stay in Rethymnon.
Friendly helpful staff. Large, nice room with balcony. Good location if you like to be both near the town and also have access to beach/seafront. Very good value for money. Good to have a fridge in room. Room was cleaned only 3 times out of the 6 days - I believe the cleaners finished at 3.30pm, but when I arrived back to my room just past 3pm, the room still was not cleaned. It may have been one of the last rooms on the cleaners schedule, but is it that unusual that guesrs wish to spend some time in room in the afternoons (given the heat outside!)? Picture of hotel in publicity material a bit misleading - I thought it might be possible to have some kind of sea/harbour view, but the hotel is located off the sea front on a street overlooking the road and other buildings on opposite side. No tea and coffee making facilities - not even access to a kettle.
good price, good location, couldn't have more expectations
Location Nasty carpet
Loved the swimming pool on the roof! Did not like having a smoking room. That is the only problem I had with the hotel.
The hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the old town with its shops and tavernas. The breakfast on offer is of very poor quality and the total absence of any staff to clear away dishes means that the breakfast room becomes somewhat squalid.
Friendliness of staff Small tv set in room. Good breakfast
H εξηπηρέτηση των υπαλληλων ηταν ιδιετερη και μασ ακανε να νιωσουμε ανετα. πιστευω πως ισως στην εξηπηρετηση του bar στην πισινα να βελτιωθει λιγακι.
The room was very spacious and clean. The pool closed at 6pm!
Nice and clean, good location, good breakfast, friendly staff Room smelled of the disinfectant they use
The outdoor pool was large and filled with fresh water. The lobby area was extremely large and open. The breakfast was very good.
Wonderfoul place to live in! the sattelite tv.inside the rooms.could be better with more channels
Great family suite! My 5 friends and I could all stay together! Kostas(not sure on the spelling), the bartender was so nice and helpful!! Great pool!
I though the hotel is overpriced for the standard of rooms. Shower was not very good. Slope in swimming pool is dangerous. People slipped so many times. Parking was also difficult. Service of staff was generally not very helpful. Could have been better. Apart from the Restaurant Manager.
Convenient location for a Rethymnon city break. A second key (with an odd magnetic fob to keep the electticity going) was needed by our group of 5 people, but none was available. This meant we either all stayed in at the same time, or woke up the others to get access to the room at night.
everything was ok, we had a nice stay, the hotel staff was very kind and helpfull. this is my first choice for rethymno.bravo.
The location is ridiculous, you are short walk from all the things worth doing in Rethymno. The atmosphere the room creates is also beautiful. Room 101 was close to the dining area, so light sleepers could get woken up by diners. Shower is quite small by American standards, but what isn't in Europe? Parking is also not particularly close. It's a little difficult to check out earlier than 8AM.
It was better than expected. Old stone historical house. Great sense of history and comfort Loved all. Perfect for us
The property is very quaint and a nice place to eat. The stonework inside and the patio in the back make for a relaxing meal. Fred the restaurant manager was extremely friendly and helpful with tips on the surrounding area. This property is more of a restaurant than a hotel. The food at Veneto House was very good and the location of the hotel is in the historic area of Rethymo, but the hotel staff was absent most of the time and the rooms were slightly outdated.
Room(s) were great. large, spacious, clean, great decor, nicely equipped kitchen, courtyard terrace was warm & inviting. Location in old town was what we wanted. Staff was not very informative & language sometimes a problem.Too many steps for elderly or disabled.
great atmosphere in an old house in good location the boiler noise was quite disturbing.also the guy downstairs trying us to eat in their restaurant was a bit annoying.
Room was large and beautifully decorated.
the comfort of the bed and spaciousness of the room
The location was very central in the old town, the staff were very welcome, and the building itself had been very tastefully restored. Good restaurant / wine celler. Hard to find fault. If there was any downside, and it was inevitable given it's prime location in the labyrinth that is the old town, is that taxi's cannot leave you at the hotel and you have to bring your luggage about 200m.
The hotel was in a beautiful building. We really enjoyed our stay.
the location of the hotel was very good Hotel staff was not very helpful. There was no hot water for two mornings. The hot water was only turned on when we complained. You can only get hot water after 10am. The toilet would not flash for two days. We had to complain several times before it was fixed. There was alot of noise at night, If you are looking for a quiet night, please don't stay at this hotel. Also, my hotel bill was charged twice on my credit card.
The location is good. The rooms are too dark, the pool is very small.
Very nice location, very friendly staff.
Close to the old town No special view
Everything at Palazzo Vecchio was great! My wife and I stayed there for 2 days while visiting the Greek Islands and we were very pleased with the nice and helpful staff, and clean and well kept rooms. There was a wall being built around a planned parking lot for the hotel. This was not an issue for us though as we still managed to find parking near the hotel and we were upper in the morning for breakfast as the workers were beginning to work.
very clean and nice staff nothing at all
Very clean and convenient, comfortable and well presented. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast a little disappointing. eggs were cold, and orange drink artificial.
Dirty place oposite the hotel the unbilded ground. Ugly view.
The hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble Not enough tables for breakfast
Close to the town without being in a noisy area. Lovely building, great rooms, and really nice small pool. The day staff/manager was nice, but the overnight/late receptionist was a little unfriendly at times. Otherwise, a lovely place to stay.
good for parking, attractive building and room, well maintained not as convenient to the old town as we would have liked, small pool, no internet
the room was very nice. the staf was exellent. but the morning breakfast was a little cheap in my opinion. could have been better with a little more choice
seemed to have staff shortage, bar man disappeared a lot from the pool bar (only bar), left it unmanned, waited 20 mins for bar man in the morning to buy coffee, same in the afternoon to buy a drink, another 20 mins wait.
The staff at the reception were great. All of them really helpful. Breakfast is very good with different kinds of styles (eggs and bacon, fruits, cereals, bread, etc.). Our room was very good and very clean and comfortable. The balcony was great also. When I had made the reservation by Booking, I had to pay for an extra bed because I have 2 children and the room only accepted 3 persons. But when I arrived there, I realised that we had a king size bed (for my wife and me) and another queen size (sofa) for the 2 children. So, I payed for something that was unnecessary.
The apartment was very comfortable, great views of the pool and the sea, would recommend this hotel to family & friends.
the hotel is in the city don't need a car. Nice food! Neibours a bit noisy and no beach around...
Excellent rooms, with ocean view and great balconys. Clean and comfortable, nice king size bed, places for the clothes, dresses. The restaurant was nice, although only for breakfast. Nice staff. The pool was nice and quiet. Close to the city, thats good. The spa and fitness center was not finished yet, unfortunetaly. They told us it will open next year... The kitchen at the room was great but it was not possible to make a dinner there, we didnt need it as we went to town eating at the restaurants, but if I had kids I would prefer ti make som dinner at the kitchen after the kids were going to sleep... that would be impossible.
location and sea view
Rooms (in our case two suites with kitchen) are spacious, modern, with wonderfull balcony, fitted with all the necessary; Swimming pool area was sufficient during our stay but might be small if the hotel would be full. Breakfast is simple, staff is friendly, service quick. Parking is free, but in the street uphill. Hotel is difficult to find: one unclear sign on the main road, no sign on the hotel, which looks from the outside like an office building. On arrival our reservation (one double suite) was not available so we received two suites. As such nice, but we had hoped to have one suite with the children. Both nights the fuses blew which the second night couldn't be repaired so we had to move the children to the living in the other suite.
Macaris is a lovely stylish hotel! Suites are very big and so nice decorated! Personel very polite and helpful !The view from verandas and from the roof garden just breathtaking!!
It is renovated in July 2009, very promising five star hotel near the center of Rethymnon. I suggest to rent a bike in order to enjoy the city. Stunning view from the balcony of all the suites. In total i suggest it without hesitation. The beach of Rethymnon is on the other side of the city. The beach near the hotel is poor, but i don't think that the hotel can do much about it.
The exterior and interior of the hotel is very nice, enjoyed a lot seating on a hotel terrace and the whole outside area and their own beach, nice view of fortress also. The room could be more comfortable and bigger, but as you will not spent lot of time inside, its ok.
Great location great people working there especially Costa, Babis and Eva. There was hardly any parking as the staff parked their motor bikes there and customers who rented cars or owned cars had no access to the parking.
Their breakfast buffet is pretty good and we liked the private beach and the almost on the beach dining options. We booked a maisonette room for the last day of our honeymoon on Crete, we did not get one!!! At least we ended up in a room with ocean and pool view but still for the same higher price. Unfortunately there was a loud disco/ party at the poolside until 2.30am at night and we could NOT sleep until the music stopped. There was nobody at the reception between 10pm and 8am the next morning to talk to.
Great pool! Romantic! Free sundbed.Clean Hotel.GREAT View to the sea from room. Really hard bed, breakfast, the beach was stone and much Wave from the sea because og much wind.
It was beautiful! Great Staff good Location.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
The location. Very nice beach. Hotel is located on a quiet street. Easy walk into Old Town. Several good tavernas next door. I am not a fan of small bathrooms or showers. So this is not a strike against this particular hotel, but rather a strike against the traditional design of bathrooms in general in lower cost European hotels.
the hotel (only sea view)is very good, near to center-2 km , good food, good stuff, good beach the stuff not work from 21:00 the bar is very poor
The room was beautiful! We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which had a spa tub and beautiful ceiling mural. Breakfast was good but might be nice to have it in the courtyard or brought to room. Easy acess to bus and shopping. Thanks everyone for your commitment to Casa Vitae.
The hotel was small and comfortable. Quite nicely done up The hotel location was not exactly easy to find, but convenient though, as it is in the old town.
A fantastic, extremely comfortable hotel with a personal touch. We were made to feel wonderfully special; a truly enjoyable experience. The hotel has been recently renovated and you can tell that renovation was treated with love, style and a bit of a class. The hotel is located in old town Rethymno, which is steps away from the tavernas but still situated in a quiet part. This hotel is recommended.
beautifully designed rooms and building in the center of the old town, very obliging & friendly staff, great breakfast
casa vitae is a beautiful building and is tastefully decorated we found the shower uncomfortably small the air conditioning didnt seem to work properly and breakfast was arrangend by two people that were not able to put togeather a boiled egg some sliced bread and some pastry within an hour.also thought it was very over priced for what it offered.
Very charming hotel with perfect location in the old town of Rethymnon. Beautiful rooms. Nice breakfast with homemade Greek dishes. Friendly staff. In short, an oustanding hotel!
Friendly personel and the site and location are excellent. No balcony.
What an amazing hotel to stay in!! Hospitable and friendly staff. Relaxing and cozy. Delicious breakfast served in the hotel courtyard. A real germ!!!
Stayed in one of the rooms in the annex building. It was cosy and nice and I'm pretty surprised to read other reviews stating otherwise. Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous and delicious. Definitely a 4* hotel, even more. I should have stayed longer...
Nice decoration, well-positioned, clean and quiet. No cleaning service at Sunday. Slightly overpriced as it could include breakfast at this price.
