Pros: Excellent welcome by the owners. Very nice people. The first impression when we arrived in a cold night with a staying room warmed by a chimney was great, providing a charming atmosphere, enhanced by the rustic furniture. Beautiful room and good breakfast.
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed & good linen. Rosa (the owner) very helpful and pleasant.
Cons: Finding the place was a nightmare! Google maps takes you to the village, which rambles & all of the buildings look exactly the same as the hotel. There are no street names.. For anyone else wanting to find the hotel - pull over outside church (next to bar) where Google info runs out. Take the road to the left and carry on 200 yards to a park on your right. The road splits. Stay to the left and its approx 5 houses along there. There is a VERY small sign outside. You need to open the driveway gate walk to the house and ring the bell. There is no phone no (but Rosa doesn't speak English, so you would need a Spanish person to make the call!) To confuse further, there is another hotel called Casa Rural on the lower road - that's where we were sent to and there was no one in except a large dog - pretty scary when its getting dark! Parking is on the grass verge next to the driveway - fine when we're the only guests - not sure where everyone would park if more of you?
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The host! And it was very clean..

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a cracker of a hotel. Set in a beautiful location on the side of the reservoir. The only downside being that we didn't get to sit outside and enjoy the view as the weather had been so bad on the day of our stay. The upside being the picture windows still enabled us to soak it all up. Lovely well appointed rooms. Pedro the owner is an absolute star and speaks brilliant English. He also cooked up the best pigs cheeks that I've ever eaten. We would definitely stop at this hotel again if we were in the area.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was superb, the host was most charming and very knowledgeable about the area. We took his suggestions about a couple of places. We were so happy we did, they were amazing. Dinner was fine, a few choices available. Breakfast was Continental but with plenty of fresh choices.
Cons: The seating area whilst you wait for dinner is quite small. We had no worries as we were talking to a delightful dutch couple. But space would have have been tight for a large party. There are however, tables to sit out prior to dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our third stay at Hotel Araz and I am sure we will stay again as it is a convenient distance from Santander port when arriving by ferry in the evening. The setting is peaceful, with a view of the lake created from the damming up of the Ebro. The owners offer a home-cooked evening meal with several choices, all delicious, and a pleasant breakfast in the morning. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a good shower and we always sleep well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location in very rural setting with views across the lake. Room was very good with very good bathroom. Last hotel in Spain before ferry from Santander. We had an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel which were shall we say different, when in Spain..... The dining area was functional coupled with a small social area. Watching a fox skulking about whilst we were at breakfast
Cons: The address entered into the Garmin 660 took us a mile away. Found it better using phone navigation. Sloping loose gravel car park (we were on motorcycles) Although the rooms were very good the exterior was very tired looking and some parts of the property were in decline. We ended up with a double room each as housekeeping had not been completed on twin rooms, this was late afternoon.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Extremely nice and hospitable hosts, very informative and entertaining. When available you should really try their homemade honey. A treat!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Views from the "pods" across the lake were good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This property is run very efficiently by Peter and his wife, whom are both wonderful hosts. It is evident that they have put a lot of hard work and resources into this property which makes for a very pleasurable stay. The views from the the communiual living room are spectacular, looking across the lake and over to the hills. The food is simple yet delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. We only only stayed a single night as we were onto a final destination but I could see us returning and staying longer to enjoy the local countryside. The hotel has a light rail station to the front which is useful for trips to local places. We travelled on a motorcycle and the local roads were empty and a very enjoyable ride. Probably in all my years of travelling I found Araz to be the most genuinely welcoming and relaxing accommodation. Well done Peter.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: This is our second time at the posada and we were really looking forward to our stay. We were not disappointed; it is probably the best B&B we have stayed at in Spain. From the time you arrive you are looked after two caring owners for whom nothing seems too much trouble. We opted for the dinner B&B option and again the evening meal was lovely home cooked fare, well presented and delicious.
Cons: Nothing, we love the place

Pros: The whole experience was fabulous our hosts had thought of everything to make our stay relaxing. Will highly recommend to friends and family

Pros: We have stayed at this hotel several times now and each time it never fails, the location suits us as were travelling on motorcycles and they always let us bring them inside their gates for safe keeping, its within easy distance of the ferry, you can get to it by using the low route N611 or Motorway or over the mountain using the CA280 which has some fantastic views. The food is always great and we always eat too much !

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right in the mountains Total peace and quiet
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A comfortable, slightly quirky rustic property with good clean modern facilities in a beautiful, tranquil location. Bedroom large and comfortable, large modern bathroom. We used it as a stop over on our way back to catch a ferry from Bilboa, an easy less than 2 hours away. Helpful host, with a restaurant serving a surprisingly comprehensive, if rustic menu though with plenty of gluten free options. Also a seperate bar area and iutside area to sit. Breakfast a simple but good affair. Eggs and local cured ham, fruit, crossaints, fruit juice etc. Still snow on the tops of surroundng mountains and would have liked more time to have gone off exploring.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: While off the beaten track by a mile or two , this place is a gem. A medieval stone house beautifully converted and in a lovely setting. The food was great artisan cooking, the portions were superhuman and having eaten for a few nights at over priced nouvelle cuisine establishments , the hearty delicious food was a reminder of what real food looks and tastes like. The Riocha was lovely and half the price expected. The staff were great, the coffee and croissants perfect , and all in all a great stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable. A lot of care has been taken in making if warm and welcoming.
Cons: The WiFi hardly worked for me. I got a brief connection on my tablet but me phone never managed to connect.

Pros: The owner went out of his way to give us a friendly welcome and provide food at a late hour.
Cons: It is difficult to find being in a remote location but the latter is part of its charm.
7.5 Good
Pros: As we expected, this does not set out to be a luxury hotel. It is clean, friendly and comfortable, with pleasant immediate surroundings but the village has little to offer to the visitor (we did not have time to visit the churches, which may well be interesting).
Cons: Not a criticism, but potential visitors need to understand that this is a historically interesting monastic building which has been sympathetically converted to provide plain but comfortable hotel-style accommodation.

Pros: Friendly welcome by our host. We arrived quite late (ferry delayed) at about 9.00 pm, and we were given a hot meal of our choice - the steak was tender, which was a bonus! This place is right in the middle of the countryside, and we noticed people out walking, so it would probably be a good place for ramblers!
Cons: Nothing negative to say...... but don't try and find this place without a GPS!
9.5 Excellent

Cons: Breakfast could consist of more eg. orange juice, fresh fruit, cereal, fresh pastries and croissants

Pros: Service was awesome, room was far better than expected (almost a full loft in itself), even with a jacuzzi in it. We got quite tired after some activity, and were not in the mood to go somewhere else for dinner. We were offered some cold dinner that ended being a marvelous big salad and awesome cold cuts. Its perhaps a little more expensive than other places around, but its totally worth!
Cons: Nothing. Everything was as good as you would expect, or better. Even been isolated is not a problem, as there is a quite big town 10 minutes away.

Pros: Nice interiors and the staff were friendly. We muddled through with ordering an evening meal which was very good and would come again if in the area.
Cons: Nothing in particular. Parking turned out to be in the street, but that wasn't too problematic.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice rooms
Cons: Quite and not much atmosphere
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel in a location just out of the centre of the town. Large room with separate TV and sitting area. The room was overlooking the main road but the double glazing and shutters worked very well to keep any noise out. Breakfast was plain but plentiful. Great value for money for a hotel in a quiet town.
Cons: Floors creaked a bit.

Pros: A real gem of an hotel. The room wasn’t huge but was clean, comfortable and well presented. The bathroom was bijou but perfectly functional. The building and the grounds were beautiful; the decoration and furniture was funky and quirky. The staff were brilliant and the breakfast was more than adequate. Would certainly revisit if in the area.
Cons: The room would have benefitted from aircon but appreciate the location, and the heating everywhere, suggests it’s used more in the ski season.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Who knew there were dolmens straight out of "Asterix"? Although Obelisk would have no difficulty with most of these. It was wonderful to see so many Romanesque churches but visit the Interpretation Centre in Villacantid first. It's amazing to see how they were changed from the 12th century onwards. Another site not to be missed is Juliobriga with Roman forum and Romanesque church probably built on site of Roman Temple perhaps Jupiter.

Pros: A very nice 42 inch tv, excellent wifi, a modern bathroom, room was clean.
Cons: The breakfast was the same everyday, there was no choice.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Room was well furnished and the bedding of a good qualiy.
Cons: Traveled all day and in my room unable to get the walk in shower to work, no water. No plug in the basin. Our friends room had a bath and it was filthy with a dirty towel lying on the bottom. We decided not to have the breakfast as we were dubious about the cleanliness. There was no one there to make breakfast at 8.00am anyway.
