The staff were very courteous and helpful! It was clean pleasant, and well managed. The pool was clean and opened at 6 AM, very important to me!
Location to downtown was the reason for booking here. After a 1 night stay my wife and I are feeling awful. She is employed by a major hospital and had a doctor confirm our thoughts...all of our symptoms are usually cause by breathing in mold and mildew. We would never stay there again!!
We were awakened by groups of loud drunken hotel guests at midnight, 2 am and 4am respectively with altercations involving other guests on our floor. There wasn't much sleep there. A hotel stay is only as good as your neighboring guests. In this case, the groups of obnoxious people had the ability to afford their night at this Marriott. I will never ever give this chain another sent of my money. Marriott price, Motel 6 antics.
Antique interiors, stairs to attic, beautiful lot. Nice neighborhood. Nursing home coffe, super weak, even when they tried to correct this with their idea of "strong", it was still terribly weak, staff had a slight attitude about this issue, which was just insult to injury, ran into four other guests at the nearby coffee shop before breakfast! If you are tall, upstairs shower is small, watch your head.
Bathroom sink was clogged, filled with water. Not enough breakfast sitting; staff did not care.
Location only Dark smelly outdated building. Front desk unnatended most of the time. Rooms were dirty, felt very uncomfortable sleeping in old and stained sheets, bed frame completely dirty!!
Paper thin walls, heavy smoking, smelled like an ashtray
Was well priced Bathroom plug was ready to start a fire
Pretty close to downtown Asheville, and they allow pets. Where to begin. The guy at the front desk was very rude (I wish I got his name). The place is scary, disgusting, and reeks of cigarettes. There was mold everywhere in our bathroom that had been spray painted over. The parking lot did not feel safe, and sure enough we woke up one morning and the car parked beside ours had it's window busted in with glass everywhere and a hammer laying next to it. We told the front desk and the women said it happened earlier that morning (yet they hadn't cleaned it up?). Later when we checked out it was still laying there (we had to drive through glass to get out). We would never stay here again.
Room was ok but bedding seemed dirty. Stains on bathmat. Bathroom was not cleaned very well. Breakfast was ok but French toast sticks were stale and biscuits were cold.
The breakfasts were very good. We had personal attention. The front porch was quaint. The living and dining rooms were inviting. Laundry facilities a bonus Our room needed to be updated.
location and size of room No breakfast choice. Room was not cleaned up too well for the next day.
rooms were large, nice decor, and clean. loved everything!
Great location, helpful staff , great breakfast No
location. free breakfast price
Wonderful place to stay with a whole suite. Great breakfast by Pepi every morning. Three get togethers M-W with nice food. Very friendly staff and helpful too. No, super happy with 8 day stay.
Great location! Very friendly staff. The kitchenette was nice to be able to bring in a few goodies for breakfast or back from dining out. The bathroom door needed to be replaced, it was 'shedding' the core on the bottom. Our room apparently had been smoked in at some point, but we were able to air it out. They were fully booked, so we didn't even ask for a change of room.
Close to the Biltmore where we visited. Large rooms Priceline gave me a queen bed and we needed two double beds, the pull out sofa was very uncomfortable for 2 adults. I could not reach anyone to change this and the hotel was sold out and could not change our accommodations. Very disappointed & no sleep.
Proximity to the Biltmore Village N/A
The room was very clean and we did not expect a fireplace or that the full kitchen would be so nice. The breakfast was also above average. Was not within walking distance to the downtown area, but cabs are plentiful and only $6-7 each way.
Excellent location, clean modern rooms. Excellent staff. Noisy air conditioner. Battery in smoke detector needed changing consequently resulting in a 'chirping sound' in the middle of the night.
The breakfast was really good. A yogurt bar, scrambled eggs with bowls of add-ins (peppers, salsa, sour cream, green onions). The servers were really nice and the space was well-laid out and super clean. No
they offered me a room with a fireplace for no extra charge. The bath room was a little out of date and there were some shady looking people hanging out in front of an appartment bldg sharing the parking lot with the hotel. thought my car would be broken into.
I loved the cleanliness of the room and how nice the room was. The free breakfast was great too; have ZERO complaints. In fact, I would like to stay in a Residence Inn in the future.
Nice hotel and good location. Lots of police/fire sirens during the middle of the night. Fan in the room was very loud. I booked a king bed through Kayak and Kayak reserved us a queen room. Hotel was booked when we arrived and couldn't switch rooms. First time using Kayak... Not impressed sine I payed for a king room.
Room was clean, front desk was helpful when I needed assistance. Was charged twice for my room, was told that it was due to "new staff members". Always frustrating when an almost $400 charge on your card takes a couple of weeks to get figured out and removed.
Very clean. Respectful staff. The breakfast gets 3 out of 5 for quality.
Decent and affordable place to stay
Comfortable bed, refrigerator, microwave and large shower area. All these items you usually pay more for. Nice breakfast next day.
The room was great, it was decorated nicely. The hotel pool looked wonderful but it was closed for season when we went. The shower was to die for and the breakfast had so many options. It was a wonderful place and I will be back. A couple ice machines were out but that's pretty much it.
Pool. Staff. Upon entering the room, there was a strong scent of some kind of cleaning product. I imagine it wasn't a healthy brand, since my lips, throat, and lungs felt irritated soon after. We got another room that seemed better at first, but when we returned from dinner, the smell was there too. It seemed noticeable when the air conditioner was on, so perhaps they put some kind of "air freshener" or fragrance into the air conditioner. We left the door open until bedtime and turned off the air conditioner. If you're sensitive to strong smells, go elsewhere...
Easy access to interstate and less than 5 miles to either the Biltmore or Chimney Rock exits. Older hotel but clean. Bed was a little lumpy.
The room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. The bed and pillows were great. Shower quite nice, good water pressure and temperature. Breakfast was good, coffee not bad at all for a hotel breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff offered us advice on what to see and do in Asheville. (They printed a map of the Asheville Urban Walking Trail for us, highly recommended for first-time visitors to AVL.) Was able to print boarding passes quickly and easily. The pictures don't show this, but the hotel is located on a very busy intersection. There can be a lot of traffic noise. Our end room exposed it to that intersection, but we slept just fine. Soundproofing seems good. Fan unit was on most of the time, that no doubt helped. Only the occasional obnoxiously loud motorcycle could be heard. We slept well, and the location is convenient. About 10 minutes to downtown Asheville, easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We would use this hotel again.
Rooms were very nice and very clean
I called last minute to check the pet policy, not only did the hotel allow me to bring my 3 dogs (most hotels only allow 2) but they also accommodated me with a room even though the pet friendly rooms were taken. I was very appreciative of this gesture and have recommended quality Inn and suites to many since. Thank you for your generosity
The receptionist was apologetic We found a syringe in our bed. We were given an upgraded room, but I felt we should have had our room comped, as I've never been so grossed out, and it definitely ruined the mood of the romantic getaway I'd planned with my fiance. I barely slept thinking about whether there had been others we didn't see and if we had gotten accidentally stuck or something.
I liked the cleanliness of the place as well as it being on Tunnel Rd. and off 40. The staff was clueless. I felt as tho there was a language barrier as well. Morning staff was some better.
Location, easy of getting to/from the hotel. Right beside train tracks and crossing.
Nice clean and friendly....can't beat the price!!! No complaints
Breakfast was okay and I appreciated the fact that the shower head had been raised. Our non smoking room REEKED of cigarette smoke. Yuck. Also I did not enjoy waking up to freight trains passing on train tracks located LITERALLY 25 Feet from my window (well hidden behind a tall hedge) not once or twice but FIVE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT.
Staff was helpful, service was quick, and the room and pool were VERY well kept.
Location Entrance doors were outside. Not hotel style.
location The parking was not very good, there was a lot of shrubbery and trees near the entrance to the rooms, and this was a safety concern for me. The sheets were thin and didn't fit well
Great breakfast, hot and plentiful, convenient location. Staff was first rate. Plumbing problems in both rooms, requested a different room because of musty odor.
Breakfast was good but slow to replenish empty selections . Staff was pleasant and helpful. Shower was terrible. Water would go from set temperature to cold then hot. Evidently when another room turns their water on or flushes a toilet, it has a direct affect on other guest rooms.
I liked the comfort of the beds, the staff and the cleanliness. I wish that it wasn't so expensive, that they had nicer plates for the breakfast buffet and the ac blower didn't blow right onto the bed next to it but up instead.
Pool garden nice Felt safe Good staff Food on floor behind beds Dirty carpet behind beds no shower curtain liner No guide for t v.
It's an easy drive into downtown for touring the breweries. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are a bit outdated with a utilitarian bathroom. The HVAC system does not offer a lot of options: Heat High/Low, A/C High/Low, and Fan.
Friendly staff, easy hotel to stay at, close enough to downtown. WiFi internet was in and out the whole time.
All aspects of my stay was great The weather
The breakfest buffet was nothing like they advertise it to be. All u have is biscuits eggs bacon an or sasuage an gravy an grits with two types of pastrirs with bread an cold ceral. An apple juice n orange juice n coffee. There is no belgin waffles or nothing shown on pics on site. They have pics in lobby an it sute as hell dont come close to what they have for breakfest
We were asked to move our vehicles to the opposite side of the building due to painting. At 9:00 p.m.And I called the front desk at 10:15 to tell them that we wouldn't be leaving until around 11:15 due to the long walk to the car with luggage..at 11:10 I received a call from the from desk asking if we needed to say another night since we didn't vacate the room by 11:00 exactly..very disappointing..
The staff were competent and the grounds were well-kept. Amazingly thin walls and a mediocre breakfast--but hell, at least it was free.
We were passing through Asheville to visit a friend on our way further south & just needed a place to stay for the night. For the purpose it serves & the rate, I give this place 5 stars. VERY nice people, clean, comfortable..... Plenty of places to eat/gas/convenience store within walking distance. And Asheville is among the greatest places I've ever been.
The staff was nice and location was good. Room was a little dirty and musty and parking was insufficient.
The room was fine for the price. No big complaints. The tub filled with water during each shower and staff didn't answer the phone when we called to report it.
It was quiet, clean, and in a good location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. No exercise room or breakfast.
Helpful & Friendly Staff, clean rooms. We arrived late and left early, just a stop along the way for us. Nothing to dislike
Alyssa...front desk staff, super helpful on phone after i booked it using kayak. I had to have a fridge in the room for medications and medical diet needs. (Also a microwave which we didn't need this time). Alyssa made sure both rooms had fridges. Front desk folks very friendly and helpful. All requests were met. Property quiet..even with furry friends all around. Like the wood floors and safe. Nice tv. Great proximity to dunkin donuts. Love the sun flowers by lobby. Not much of a lobby....thank you for a great visit. Asheville is awesome! No tissue box. No dirty laundry bag. Both rooms had sugar ants. Cleaning of room last day (3rd) was really weak. Didn't leave hand towels or washcloths. No breakfast? Didn't rri used to do continental bf? No email reminder of reservation like i get with marriott.
Very nice room. This was q quick stay on a trip to South Carolina from Wisconsin. Wish I could have stayed longer.
room was on side of hotel closest to interstate. The traffic noise seemed loud.
Not my first rodeo with Red Roof, It was what I wanted. The only down fall was the musty odor of the room.
Location Beds a little uncomfortable
Spotted 2 possums in the parking lot at 1 am inadequate space for blood sacrifices to john darnielle
Location was great. 10 minutes from nearly everything in Asheville. The place was noisy. In all the hotels I've stayed in, this was one of the worst in terms of noise getting inside a room. Walls doors and ceilings are paper thin. We could everything from every direction. And yes, other reviews are correct, the elevator is terrifying.
The room had windows that could open and a door leading to a small balcony; these made the room airier and lighter. We were told we could not take our breakfast poolside because of fears that food would get into the water. But the evening before several families were having snacks/dinner/drinks on the tables and in the gazebo near the pool. A little consistency is in order. If you want families as well as couples to be welcomed fully on a hot summer day, you need to be a bit more flexible in your policy.
Hotel was clean; well appointed; excellent staff who are very helpful and professional; good location--convenient to all major attractions and also downtown Asheville. Breakfast was good quality with many items to choose from and all were well prepared. Rooms were large with multiple areas for both sleeping and relaxing. There was nothing to dislike. We had no complaints.
Comfortable beds Water pressure in shower was poor
The staff was outstanding and friendly. Used meeting room for biz. Quiet. Clean rooms Standard corporate Holiday Inn Express breakfast bar. All Holiday Inns need to up their game and improve the quality and taste of breakfast. With that said, the Holiday Inn Asheville was exceptional.
Very nice hotel w pleasant staff and pleasant accomadations
Deep pool, quaint rooms, family owned, beds comfy, old fashioned. Security chain missing off door, kayak is $30 more than calling the hotel and booking. Kayak also never sent the reservation and I almost didn't get a room.
Was almost in the downtown area which was a good deal for us. Good over deal on a budget plan.
The pool looked clean and it has a rustic look. The majority of guests seem to be alcoholics and addicts. The parking lot was littered with syringe caps and the others guests appear to be homeless. Management does nothing to quell all night partying and excessive noise. Both rooms had fleas and we were all bitten in our sleep many times leaving large itchy welts. The air conditioning only worked on high in both rooms, and in the middle of the night you could see your breath. The smoke detector in one room had been removed and was laying on a shelf in the closet area. The free wifi did not work most of the time. If you could get it to connect it would only last a minute or so before it became so slow you couldn't even check your email. This property has not been updated at all in the last 20 years by our estimation. The carpet in the room was frayed and heavily stained. The blankets on the beds did not match from bed to bed and had the trim torn loose and hanging off. Upon arrival we noticed that the bathroom window was slightly opened. We opened it to look outside and found there were several box type bee hives directly below the window. We quickly closed it and miraculously got it to lock shut (the mechanism was broken), but not before several bees had made it into the room. This place is like something out of a horror movie. You only get one metal key per room. Overall I would rate this as possibly the worst motel I've ever stayed at.
Charming. The 93 yo owner has been running the place for other years. After I mentioned where we were from, he remembered us from a year ago. There's real KEYS made of metal, not a card to swipe. Nothing fancy. Rooms were large. Some rooms have a nice view - the entire front wall is windows. (up on the hill, facing downhill) Very basic. Dated. There are 2 very different types of rooms (older & newer). No elevators, but all rooms are technically accessible. Minimal breakfast.
Price, location, friendly staff. Shower was not hot, on the margin of not warm enough. Location was good except for nearby loud traffic.
The flat screen tv The rugs
Cheapest hotel in the area Still not a great value. Rooms were severely outdated and dirty. My TV had no way to change the channel. The comforter had cigarette burns. 2 light bulbs were out. The bathroom didn't have any soap or shampoo. The staff constantly bickered with each other making you feel uncomfortable. Overall it's the cheapest hotel in the area but still not worth the price. Go ahead and pay a little extra for one of the major name brand hotels in the area...
I enjoyed talking to the 92 year old man that checked me in. I suggest they get new blankets and pillows. The mattress was a little lumpy too.
The location was good, convenient to downtown and the mountains. The owner, the front office staff and the guard were very friendly; the breakfast was good, with good choice of fresh fruits, breads, donuts, fresh orange juice. The back rooms are quiet and large, good for a family of four. The Inn is itself slightly removed from the road, creating a nice space. We did not use the pool, but it looked inviting. The room service, however, was unsatisfactory (once they did not even show up), and the room itself was not really clean when we arrived. Especially the shelf on top of the clothes rack was extremely dirty. We were told they are looking into improving this aspect of the Mountaineer Inn, and I sure hope they will because, otherwise, we would have had a fully satisfactory experience
nosy, no frills bare room. clean
Price was too high for this room that had very small windows and no balcony Breakfast area was very small and there was no place to sit, breakfast was not good
Very comfortable and clean. Very friendly and professional staff.
The staff super friendly. It had been stressful day and I checked in very late. It was pouring rain when I brought my bags in and I was soaked. As I headed for the elevator, the desk clerk called out to me and handed me a warm, dry towel. Super service!
Actually really clean , comfortable , sits back from road so kind of have to look for it No
Nothing Room was filthy and exorbitantly over priced. I would never recommend it to anyone.
Location to interstate Hard to check out in the morning... No one at the front desk.
quiet and clean and a warm welcome upon my arrival in the pouring rain. Nothing. Only stayed there 8 hours
