Well let's see. Crack heads. Cigarette Holes in the bed. ROACHES. AS SOON AS WE WALKED IN THE ROOM THERE WAS A ROACH ON THE WALL. When I booked the hotel, I read the reviews and thought "it can't be THAT bad" maybe in just that one room there was roaches or cigarette burns. NO. My friends and I got two seperate rooms and both had roaches and cigarette burns in the bed. The Windows had no screens to it and when we came in the room they were wide open. Check out said 12 when we reserved the room but house keeping knocked on our door at 10am saying check out is 11. Complained to the front desk but they acted like they didn't care because they didn't. Lol. I didn't expect a 5 start hotel but I didn't expect cock roach inn and cigarette burns in the bed either.
Roaches in the restroom, cigarette burns on the comforter. Tiny bathroom. Staff was very friendly. Creepy parking lot. Homeless man hanging out by the door. Would only stay again as a last resort.
Location was great for our needs. The beds were comfortable.
the entire hotel stunk. My bed comforter had cigarette burns, and this is a smokeless room. The shower head leaked and sprayed off the side. The vanity light only had one bulb working. we stayed in room 206. I guess you get what you pay for... Meh. Most likely will never stay at another Howard Johnson. Parking Lot was very dim and we felt uneasy the entire time.
Bed was comfy
Crack addict waiting outside my door. Seriously.
Close to downtown Austin and the highway.
The area wasn't too great, did not feel secure. You could hear people above/next to your room. People loitered in the parking lot. Staff not professional
- Price - Location - Staff is helpful and polite
- Cleanliness - Didn't feel 100% safe my car was going to be fine in the parking lot
We reserved a room and the front desk didn't even know what we were talking about and asking what kind of room we wanted. This was also after he helped the people behind us first while we were clearly waiting before them. Also, in the background for comforting music was hard rock which is just unprofessional for a hotel to play. The room itself was something out of some scary movie. The deadbolt in the room was busted so there was no way of even feeling a sense of security in this place at all. Only reason we didn't go someplace else was because there wasn't a refund.
Staff, decent bed
Bugs in the room, they moved me to another room.....bugs there too
The room itself was fine- quiet, normal smell, decent bed. Very helpful staff.
So, they overbooked online and we had trouble checking in. There were prostitutes in the hall and the place strongly of smelled of pot. We checked in while the police were doing a fraud bust. The bathroom ceiling was moldy, which wouldn't have bothered me if it hadn't been leaking water onto our clean towels. And the breakfast was just cereal.
The price and location is the only thing going for this hotel.
The bathtub was dirty and the room smelled. The fixtures and painting was not finished (wires hanging from the ceiling and patches in bathroom that were not painted) There was a loud party going on above our room until 4am.
Shower faucet difficult to operate, possibly calcified. No plugs for sink nor tub. Windows very dirty. Large hole in bedspread.
Location between airport and downtown Austin was perfect for my purposes. Cost was low. Parking was good. TV and shower were very good. A washer and dryer were available, which was a very nice surprise and put to good use. Continental breakfast was just fine.
There was a slight but noticeable smell when I walked in -- air conditioning helped disguise it, but I'd only come back if traveling alone again. It wouldn't be acceptable if I was staying as a couple. I loved the availability of a laundry room, but when I asked the staff if there was detergent available to buy, I was told "no." I found out later they had it for sale in the vending machines a few feet away -- after I already spent more than I needed to at the convenience store next door. The staff should obviously know this stuff. Also, it was noticeable how sloppily some of the basic maintenance was there: fixtures that weren't properly mounted to the walls, sloppy painting of walls and doorways. It doesn't cost a motel owner a penny more to do this stuff right, but it makes a huge difference in how nice a place is.
The staff was not very friendly. The whole place was very dated and over all not very clean.
