The young owners were enthusiastic and worked hard to please. The hotel had recently been refurbed and was modern and spotless. The food was excellent freshly prepared basic fayre, generous portions and good value. There was a large english group celebrating a 60th birthday, they were treated excellently and made to feel special. The 5 minute walk to maries cafe for a beer or coffee and a game of the most unusual blow football was a super experience. All within a 5 minute drive of the A26 motorway. Definitely re-book.
Polite, helpful staff, beautifully refurbished hotel, peaceful location.
Good ensuite with hairdryer. Quiet location. Easy access from motorway. Flat screen tv with a couple of English channels (volume was limited - a little too low for us but used subtitles.) Would have liked a telephone, kettle and fridge.
Great location. Just off motorway & only 30mins from ferry port. Food excellent & very good value.
Restaurant very good Room smelt musty
the food unable to find a member of staff to get a drink after dinner
The building was beautiful Slow staff and very dated, tatty and cheaply furnished
It's setting and location. The poor quality of the expensive dinner and their inflexibility when I asked to cancel breakfast, which turned out to be poor for 20euros
great location, beautiful buildings and grounds Needed more lounge areas downstairs
Ideal location for us breakfast a bit too basic
Convenient location relative to Calais but in more attractive ambience. Had stayed once before. They offered a special price Mersault wine to guests at Euro 17.50 and so when I ordered that in the Bar it was charged at Euro 61.00!! That was a shocker...
Food was excellent
The atmosphere in the Chateau There was no air conditioning in the room and the toilet in the bathroom had not been cleaned properly as it was soiled.
nice old building lots of character peaceful location rooms spacious and beds comfortable bathroom could do with an upgrade dinner expensive for disappointing food service was painfully slow.would still return for the experience of staying in such a beautiful old place
Clean, very friendly and convinient restaurant X
Nice location, lovely room There are no facilities to eat at the hotel. We stayed on a Monday, and the restaurant was closed, as was all the eating places in the village.
The rooms were clean and spacious. Convenient location for the channel tunnel. Excellent welcome and good restaurant on site. Decor outdated but notice to say that planning permission was being sought to update.
Very friendly staff and good service. Clean and tidy room. No tea/coffee facility in the room.
It was convenient for our needs, quiet and safe with good car parking. Restaurant was not open on a Sunday evening.
Great food and friendly service would have no hesitation in using the hotel again Rooms need updating but are very clean
Typical french farmhouse setting
Ease of booking on the internet. Quiet at night and comfortable bed.Warm room. French postcode reference only identified Guines and not precise location of hotel. a map would have made things easier. Not told without asking where breakfast was to be served. Breakfast overpriced as everything was self service. Food and service in restaurant excellent, but wine expensive in comparison to cost of food. The cheapest wine was the same cost as the whole meal, 19.00 Euros.
Good pool, free wifi. None
Excellent Restaurant for an evening meal.
Quiet relaxing stay with excellent food and wine at reasonable prices. The central heating was on and topped up with heaters, so although the weather was cold the hotel was warm. The lounge was a bit dark , Iit was a pity that their was no log fire
Beautiful location, very comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. Arrived at check-in time - room was freezing cold. Heater was provided though.
The food was excellent in the restaurant. We were the only English people staying there.
Friendly staff and lovely food. Cold, but it was snowing outside!
Although it wasn't a "smart" hotel, its rooms were slightly dated, it had a certain charm and the friendly staff were excellent and welcoming.
Very friendly staff who, although do not speak very good english, will go to great pains to accomodate your every wish. Lovely food. Rooms are a little basic (although great for the price) and the bathroom had no shower, only a bath with attachment. We have stayed in the autumn and the room had no heating.
The position of the hotel is in a quiet, rural location good for walking. The building is old and full of character. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom a good size. It was good to have a bathr rather than a shower although this may not suit everyone. Ideal distance from Calais for an overnight stay. The rooms are rather basic. The towels and linen are quite old and worn. The food was of a very low standard. There was a power cut to the bedrooms in the morning so we had no light or hot water.
Fast check in very polite and efficent. Excellent food and brilliant waiting staff Some rooms above restraunt can be noisy if people still using and again in the morning drinks are quite expensive but this seems the norm in france.
This is a charming place to stay, perfect if you are looking for somewhere far from the attractions of the city with a rustic atmosphere. It is set in beautiful countryside and the one dinner I had there was excellent. I found the breakfast perfectly adequate. The dining room has a marvellous tiled floor.
