The well preserved old architecture and good service. Fantastic spaces and displays.
The quality of service and accommodation
beautiful and interesting building, with small but comfortable rooms, in a wonderful location. insufficient front desk and dining room staff leading to delays.
We enjoyed the ambience. Last visit in 1974 during the revolution. Staff and surroundings were. excellent. Would definately recommend to others. The food was not as good as we thought it would be. Service excellent, but food fell short.
The hotel is characterful. Our room was small but quaint, it used to be a monks cell. The restaurant was pricey but food was reasonaly good. Location is excellent for exploring within the city walls of Evora. Bar was seemingly open but left unstaffed .
Relaxing. Nice luxury
rooms beautiful, great atmosphere, very clean. Need to mention front desk very helpful and pleasant.
The location of the place, and the atmosphere. Relative small room, but as expected.
Staff became friendlier during the stay. Experience was less than average. Too expensive for what is offered. Maintenance is poor. Service was average. Key chain makes a lot of noise when opening and bothers all neighbors. The place has so much potential. The building itself is amazing, perfect setting to do a great Posada.
location was excellent in Evora room was a standard comfortable hotel room and staff were helpful
The hotel is cheap, very nice and in a strategic position for visiting the city. The principal coach station (buses to/from Lisbon and other major Portugat cities) is nearby. Rooms are clean and staff nice.
Location near to historical town There were no coffee/tea making factilites in room
Small room but with a comfortable large bed. No noise at night. No mini-bar. Maybe the free park is a bit small, but we had luck and got a free parking space.
location to town. the breakfast and staff.Good customer service
Staff friendly. Perfect hotel to use as base for driving and exploring the region. Had a problem one night with plumbing and they immediately provided new room. Could not complain about anything. Great breakfast for only €5.50. Short walk to town centre, which has lots of good restaurants. No hesitation in recommending to anyone. All good.
Excellent location, nice staff. good breakfast. Bar open 24h. Breakfast is not included in the price:(
Very pleasant helpful receptionists, with excellent English.Good position just outside the walls of Evora, therefore parking easy. Obviously this is a chain hotel and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay, but having found many other far more individual/luxurious hotels for much the same price on Priceline during our month-long stay in Spain and Portugal we would only choose Ibis if other choices were not available.
Hotel staff was friendly, free parking in front of the hotel Airco was not very good, and the room was very small
situation and comfortt in the rooms the breakfast room is not isolated so too much noise in our room early in the morning
The hotel is lovely. The staff was great. Wonderful location. Good breakfast. No elevator
Location perfect. Staff helped with our luggage from the car park. Breakfast was excellent. Recommended restaurant, San Antao, was good value for good food. This is not about the hotel but it was a little difficult to find.
Very nice hotel. Great location and atmosphere Problem with the shower. The nozzle would not stay in the wall bracket as it was broken.
The location of this place can't be beat. It was in the old town, on an old cobbled street right above a main square in town. The street was too narrow for our taxi, but the walk was short from the main square. The walls were not thick so there were some street noises heard from our room. Also, shampoo came in little foil containers rather than bottles and there was no conditioner.
Location to historical attractions, friendly and quality service, authenicity of building structure with good updated amenities, quiet at night, extremely well maintained and clean
I found the location of the hotel perfect, very close to both Praca do Giraldo and Se Catedral de Evora. The room was very clean and the hotel staff was helpful. The reasonable rate was an additional point that I liked the hotel. Nothing.
A little gem of a hotel, just off the main square. Gleaming clay-tiled floors, whitewashed walls, crisp white linen - a very traditional feel. Spotlessly clean.
convenient location helpful staff at front desk no elevator so bags had to be carried but front desk staff did assist us
The room was small but comfortable. There was a bed already prepared for our baby, at no extra cost. The staff was nice and helpful. The bathroom was small, and the shower doors weren't properly attached to the walls. It has no lift and the parking is not closer to the hotel.
The hotel provided an excellent base for exploring the region, and we would have liked to try the swimming pool but the temperatures had dropped slightly. Would have liked coffee/tea maker in the room.
Peace and quiet of countryside, breaking only with dog's barking and cock's shouting, sunrise in olive trees grove, clear and cool air in the morning (beginning of October) coffee (like in other hotels in Portugal)))) should contain more coffee; old-fashioned bed is a bit high and narrow (afraid to fall down)))); other guest's shouting at 6 o'clock in the Sunday morning (probably after returning from night club)
The room was growing mould, the bed was damp,I cannot remember a worse hotel and it is not a quinta,it is a smallholiday complex,no old house in sight. Zero out of ten
Very new, courteous staff, beautiful location, nice place. Difficult to find but with located with good instructions by reception on the phone.
Wonderful location, fantastic views and spotlessly clean Misled when told that hotel 1.5km from Evora, more like 4 to centre
the location is really beautiful, the building is remarkable, but ... the hotel equipment is old, we booked a superior room but got an old room on the backside with no view at all, and the hotel was far from totally booked, the hotel needs to be renewed for it to be classified as 4****, now it is like 2** or 3***. they have everything for it to be a beautiful hotel, but not as it is now, prices far too high
The tea served at the evening on the bedroom. It is a simple, but very good idea.
Historic aspect, atmosphere, site smeel in room
we are living and feeling the peace and tranquility of Alentejo-we are out of the world war
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Very romantic setting. Good breakfast, exceptional dinner at the restaurant. Very friendly English-speaking staff. Nothing
Place around. The house it self (Convento)
The swimming pool :-)
The location is very good - an easy stroll into the old walled town. Big room, plenty of space. Breakfast buffet very good. Scrambled eggs were made of real eggs (see earlier review). The orange "juice" & "coffee" was not good though. Were able to find free parking spot right outside the hotel door. The hideous lumpy pillows. The management should replace them asap. The fridge in our room likewise needs replacing. It was far too noisy. Very limited tv channel options. No satellite tv channels as advertised. Bathroom a bit tired & tatty - chipped basin & tiles. Tiles need re- grouting. Corridor outside had rather dirty looking floor. Would recommend this hotel for it's location, but it's in need of a really good makeover
Ideal location just outside city walls. Staff wonderful. Room perfect, clean, and spacious. Breakfast best we had anywhere on our month long trip.
Touring the area We felt the hotel although clean, was in need of a facelift. The whole place was very tired.
It was cheap at €35 a night - it was comfortable. A better internet connection would improve the place
The relationship price-quality, the people were very nice and helpful, great location.
cleanliness, welcoming, helpful staff. Log fire in the evening. Good food
swimming pool there is a lot of noises during the night from pipes
Beds were a little too firm
nice building in nice surroundings = beatifull park
a very good location with all that most would require, pleasent and very helpful staff.. nothing
The location was perfect, the staff kindness and the calm
Lack of staff to attend the needs of the guests during breakfast.
Location, room confort Breakfast (not to much choice). Waited 20 minutes to get a table.
excellent location and beautiful garden with swimming pool
The views, the place, breakfast Just think that it was to expensive for the kind of hotel, it is a 4 star hotel i was expecting more!
Beautifully located intramuros, next to the old city walls. Lovely garden with swimmingpool. The interior of the hotel is best described as: "the beauty of simplicity". We stayed in a room overlooking the garden. Simple furniture but well choosen. And very quiet.
Lack of interest in our complaint initially about a poor toilet. The reserved car park space was a nightmare one needed a needle to thread the car in and out of the space, frghtening with a new car.
nice view from the room (if facing the town) would expect more from a 4-star hotel
Central to the area we wanted to explore High drinks prices
Comfortable, nice, good breakfast, free car parking.
Excellent hotel. I recommend it to all the travellers Only the location is a bit far from the city center, but you can use the rented bikes.
everything shut down after midnight
everthing... i recommend it.
Breakfast service/ entrance not expedite. Staff not fast enough despite the empty tables in the room.
All staff were very friendy, room was clean and confortable. Long breackfast hours was very nice for a relaxing weekend.
The helpfulness and friendlyness of the reception staff. The location, close to Evora but with its own private parking. The grounds where you could relax in the afternoon. The dining experience. Better visit restaurants in Evora if you want to experience good Portuguese cooking and hospitality.
The overall facilities including the swimming pool. We would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the bedroom.
Reception staff excellent, dinner buffet good value, location slightly out of town. Car parking on site. Evora is a walled city well worth a look
Good location, very nice combination of old and modern, friendly staff, large common spaces Some details can be improved (for instance, cleanliness of the window of the room, damaged room lamp that was not substituted after request)
We were very impressed with the history of the building and the tranquility of the location. The interior had been very sympathetically moderised to a very good standard without compromising the authenticity of the buildings.
Our second visit (the first in 1999) We returned for the ambiance, the tranquil, scenic setting, the successful conversion of an historic, attractive building into a stunning, modern guest hotel. The breakfasts were bountiful and excellent, as before.. the weather was perfect The dining food service was disastrous, inattentive, over-priced. During lunch on the day of our arrival we were the only four guests. We waited 90 minutes for our food. Two entrees (pasta) were inedible (probably forgotten in the kitchen). We were given credit on our bill. a third entree: four spears of (burned)asparagus and three filled mushrooms was over-priced at Euro 13.50 Likewise a couvert charge of Euro 4.90 each was excessive. We canceled previously made dinner reservations, and went to the village.
Highly recommended. This converted convent is lovely and the staff was extremely generous and helpful. They spoke English and the hotel is a great base to see Evora (15 minutes away by car) as well as the many prehistoric sites in the area west of Evora. The deconsecrated chapel is completely lined with azulejos and the modern art hanging throughout the hotel makes a nice contrast. No.
The hotel itself and the rooms were beautiful and quite comfortable. Lovely views. Delicious buffet breakfast. The prices at the bar were very high (7.50 euros for a non-alcoholic juice mix).
Excellent staff, good swimming pool, great grounds to walk arround, fantastic breakfast. Dinner at night too expensive for the quality with cold plates and cold vegatables, the carpet in our room had curled up and we tripped over it a couple of times
Basic hotel, but very clean, modern design and great location.
This hotel is the perfect choice in Evora. Great location near the main square, super clean and modern. As a boutique hotel, rooms are small, but quite fine. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. Ample garage parking for 5 euros per day. Location, parking, service, comfy beds.
We booked this hotel on a whim after deciding to leave Faro a day early. It was perfect. Easy to find, the front desk attendant was really helpful, the room was simple and clean. All in all a great value for the money.
Clean and new with free wifi Nothing
convenience of parking car even though we had to pay more money. We loved the atmosphere and the beautiful buidling and the convenience of the situation. The beds, of course, are Portuguese therefore unsuitable for larger and taller people... just not big enough for two people really. THis would have put me off staying longer there although I loved it.
The decor is delightful and this conveniently located hotel provided excellent ambience, value, location and facilities for our stay in the wonderful town of Evora. Having reception upstairs meant no 'welcome mat' on entry. But it is a lovely old building and no doubt the structure dictates its functionality.
A lovely old buiding in a great situation. Evora is amazing. Plain but comfortable rooms. Decent breakfast. Great staff.
The hotel has perfect location, easy was to park a car, the building was very old and interesting and special. The staff was extreamly helpful and nice The room was too small, the door and lock on the door didn´t look very safe. The safe in the room was too small for the laptop. Breakfast was usual continental breakfast but was advertised as homemade breakfast and I expected something more taste.
Great location with available car parking right in front of hotel, very friendly people, Evora is an historic old town and the hotel is right in the old town but easy to get to. not applicable
wonderful position in an old fashion palace
Quiet, comfortable, good location, plenty of character for the price. Initially wifi wasn't working and girl at reception insisted it was. Next morning I noticed there were no lights flashing on the router and the morning receptionist gave the plug a smack and it all came to life.
Location & homely feel Parking fee
The staff was friendly and helpful The beds were too hard and no tourist literature in English
Staff very friendly smell of mildew in the bathroom ,shower and bath was in disrepair
Everything.staff w ere very helpfull and very good value for money .food was excellent A bit far from evora town
Excellent hotel for the price with first class WiFi, shame we only stayed overnight. The breakfast was well thought out and presented. The receptionist spoke English like a native and was very helpful. Minor points only:- There is no lift to the rooms which are all on the first floor, but the staff offered to help us with the luggage. The shower was only warm unless you let it run for a good while which then ran lovely and hot.
Everything was perfect. Just few km from Evora. Nice room, nice restaurant, nice staff.
Nice hotel, freindly very helpful staff, excellent brekfrest with a lot of choices, perfect cleaning of the rooms, if you stay there for more than day, don't miss to try the evening buffet.
Hotel is quite new - clean bright & airy. The bathroom had a large cubicle with a powerful & versatile shower and a very generous vanity shelf around the hand-basin gave plenty of space for toiletries, wash-bags etc. The outdoor pool & terrace had plenty of seating with pleasant views. There was ample parking to the front of the Hotel. Food & wine were good and not expensive. The staff were very helpful with hints and directions. We struggled to understand the Menu without an English version
Hotel staff were effficient and spoke good English. Good breakfast. Big room with balcony and comfortable bed. You need a car to stay here as the hotel is out of town and on the highway, but noise was not a problem.
Clean, modern, good breakfast. This is a simple hotel, close to the high way, but for what it offers it is excellent.
Service was excellent. Always prompt, informative and welcoming. Buffet Breakfast and Dinner was fantastic! The pool and sauna were very relaxing! We truly enjoyed this "jewel" in the heart of the historic side of Evora. Will definately stay again and will recommend this luxurious hotel to family and friends. Cannot think of anything negative to say about this hotel
A delightful place for a few days. The staff were very helpful. Our bedroom - my wife is disabled - was perfect. One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Half board dinner menu doesn't change. Staying for three nights gives very limited choice.
I was surprised how nice it was once I got there, forgot what it was liked when I booked it. The rooms were so lovely and was a nice treat for my birthday. Pool was nice, but the spa was a bit more basic than what I thought. It is next to an amazing wall, the garden was beautiful. Very close walk into the main part. Children friendly which is a plus. I Loved Evora and if I got to go again, I would stay here for sure.
The outstanding architecture, the amazing staff, the restaurant and the general atmosphere of the hotel. The pool should be bigger and have more beds.
Very enjoyable stay, highly professional staff, wonderful rooms, clean and comfortable, great design touches, convenient location (but not right in the centre) extensive breakfast buffet, handy to access by car, including underground car parking. I thought the gym would be a bit bigger, I didnt use it it but it appeared adequate for cardio exercise.
Beautifull hotel with great rooms and relaxing options. Nicely located in Evora. Very modern en beautifull design. Unfortunately not enough beds in swimming area, so had to lie on the grass - for 5 star-hotel not acceptable.
The hotel design, general aspect, bathrooms, colour scmemes. gardens/patio. Not enough sun-beds for the no. of guests by the pool, not enough choice of sun or shade for the direction of the sun around the pool. Pool itself relatively small for the no. of families with children using it. The fact that the dining /breakfast room is almost entirely without daylight or view.
fantastic hotel . the room we have was with the garden and aqueduct view . the food at the restaurant was great and good price . it is a 5 stars hotel
We enjoyed everything. Restaurant Degust'Ar is a must . Good value for the money
I have nothing but the very best to say about the hotel. It was an excellenet hotel. It was by far the best of the five hotels we stayed at during our 9 day trip to portugal. The room was superb, the service was great and the food was outstanding. Evora is a fascinating city and it can be used as a base to discover sites like Marvao.
I liked very much the room ( the colors are warm), the staff (people are kind and they are smiling all the time), it is very clean indead, and I liked the food.
Silence and rest No
Very plastic, and religious
Helpful staff, well situated hotel
The front desk check-in person was very helpful..and answered all of our questions
It's a good location, the hotel and the room are very clean, the staff was very friendly and we had a great breakfast. Very satisfied. The room was small and a little noisy and the parking is not so big.
Large balcony, ease of parking, good location to access town
The beds were very uncomfortable -- hard mattresses.
good location, clean rooms, excellent breafast the beds were too hard for us
The location. It was near the train station and also by the seaside. It was very convenient to wonder around. In the night, it was noisy. My room was facing to the road and I heard many people passing through sometimes shouting.
It is a wonderful place, clean, classy and near everything no, everything was fine.
Its central location
It was a very pleasant stay. The owner was very welcoming and made us feel at home. The hotel was a beautiful old home, but had wonderful bathroom amenities, good lighting, and a good breakfast
Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Place was beautiful - lots of very old things to look at.
The house was in the center of the historic district, and itself was very atmospheric. There was an actual suit of armour in the hall and a sedan chair. Our suite was very interesting and the old fashioned bed comfortable. The breakfast was good. Was difficult to find, as I had not printed out the map.
it was a sort of a time travel experience
This hotel is has an excellent location and a very friendly and helpful staff. The owner went far out of his way to assist us. The facility is an old building full of amazing antiques. It has modern conveniences, spacious rooms, and is exceptionally well maintained. There is no elevator.
Wonderful 19th century atmosphere
An interesting setting and atmosphere. Staff/owner friendly and helpful (at short notice he put up a friend of mine).
Liked the personal service of the owner of this mansion. In fact, he was the only person running the place. However, the best thing was the location, It was smack in the centre of Evora. Undercover, security parking for an additional cost was good. The suite was spacious and quiet. Bright and sunny rooms. Starting to be a bit run down but made up for it with its ambience of a very old mansion seeped in history. Bed was too short in spite of one person only being 1.8 metres tall. Stairs steep and would be difficult for a non-agile person to negotiate especially if carrying heavy suitcases. There is no lift and the owner was unable to assist in carrying the suitcases.
We were surprised that an hotel could perform at all with the small level of activity that we encountered during our stay. It may be that the Hotel lives off tours and that the guests were out for the evening that we spent there. Service is helpful but a stay in an apparently empty hotel is not exciting. Thanks for your interest. J.E.Triay
Nice pool outside. As well I liked the old furnitures and decorations in the alleys. Bathroom was with marble and was not so comfortable as modern bathrooms.
Staff helpful Not easy to get to by Car as signs to Pousada are incorrect unless walking. Large car trapped in narrow streets when there is a much safer and better route not identified at Estremoz or on the Sat Nav
Special experience to stay in an old castle. The value you get for the money paid was not what you can expect for the same price somewhere else. The bathrooms were pretty old and there was mildew on the walls. However the experience to stay in an old castle was special, but expensive compared to the other hotels we stayed in during our holiday in Portugal.
Our only stay at a Castle-Pousada, on our 21 day trip. If we could've afforded it, we would have stayed at more. Because we felt almost like a king and queen... Service superb! No
historic value and history
Architecture of the hotel, room, pool, breakfast Ambient in the dining room (musique like in the church)
The decor, the service, the food and the room comfort.
nice setting, helpful staff. it needs a face lift. rooms small, furniture worn and the a/c wasn't effective ( working at all) in the 97 degree temperature. Dinner was ok but nothing to write home about.
i have a query regarding payment of booking please(contact me on 00447775724880
Very quiet Unable to have food at lunch time. Quality of dinner was disappointing
The peace and quiet, the quality of the establishment and attention to detail all made for a perfect short stay, the next visit will be for a longer period.
The place, a small alentejo rural museum
It was a lovely relaxing place.
