everthing... i recommend it.
everything shut down after midnight
Central to the area we wanted to explore High drinks prices
Breakfast service/ entrance not expedite. Staff not fast enough despite the empty tables in the room.
Comfortable, nice, good breakfast, free car parking.
The overall facilities including the swimming pool. We would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the bedroom.
The helpfulness and friendlyness of the reception staff. The location, close to Evora but with its own private parking. The grounds where you could relax in the afternoon. The dining experience. Better visit restaurants in Evora if you want to experience good Portuguese cooking and hospitality.
Excellent hotel. I recommend it to all the travellers Only the location is a bit far from the city center, but you can use the rented bikes.
Reception staff excellent, dinner buffet good value, location slightly out of town. Car parking on site. Evora is a walled city well worth a look
All staff were very friendy, room was clean and confortable. Long breackfast hours was very nice for a relaxing weekend.
We enjoyed everything. Restaurant Degust'Ar is a must . Good value for the money
A delightful place for a few days. The staff were very helpful. Our bedroom - my wife is disabled - was perfect. One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Half board dinner menu doesn't change. Staying for three nights gives very limited choice.
I have nothing but the very best to say about the hotel. It was an excellenet hotel. It was by far the best of the five hotels we stayed at during our 9 day trip to portugal. The room was superb, the service was great and the food was outstanding. Evora is a fascinating city and it can be used as a base to discover sites like Marvao.
Beautifull hotel with great rooms and relaxing options. Nicely located in Evora. Very modern en beautifull design. Unfortunately not enough beds in swimming area, so had to lie on the grass - for 5 star-hotel not acceptable.
Very enjoyable stay, highly professional staff, wonderful rooms, clean and comfortable, great design touches, convenient location (but not right in the centre) extensive breakfast buffet, handy to access by car, including underground car parking. I thought the gym would be a bit bigger, I didnt use it it but it appeared adequate for cardio exercise.
Service was excellent. Always prompt, informative and welcoming. Buffet Breakfast and Dinner was fantastic! The pool and sauna were very relaxing! We truly enjoyed this "jewel" in the heart of the historic side of Evora. Will definately stay again and will recommend this luxurious hotel to family and friends. Cannot think of anything negative to say about this hotel
The hotel design, general aspect, bathrooms, colour scmemes. gardens/patio. Not enough sun-beds for the no. of guests by the pool, not enough choice of sun or shade for the direction of the sun around the pool. Pool itself relatively small for the no. of families with children using it. The fact that the dining /breakfast room is almost entirely without daylight or view.
fantastic hotel . the room we have was with the garden and aqueduct view . the food at the restaurant was great and good price . it is a 5 stars hotel
I was surprised how nice it was once I got there, forgot what it was liked when I booked it. The rooms were so lovely and was a nice treat for my birthday. Pool was nice, but the spa was a bit more basic than what I thought. It is next to an amazing wall, the garden was beautiful. Very close walk into the main part. Children friendly which is a plus. I Loved Evora and if I got to go again, I would stay here for sure.
The outstanding architecture, the amazing staff, the restaurant and the general atmosphere of the hotel. The pool should be bigger and have more beds.
Room spacious, wonderful view, grounds interesting, excellent dining No
The design room is fantastic. The spa is great. The sauna wasn t working. The breakfast and the food from the room service is average considering the highest remarks i heard.
The setting of the hotel is superb and a great attention to detail in carrying out the refurbishment Service at times was slow
Divinus restaurant is a beautiful setting for a meal. Despite the staff's best efforts, the wireless internet wasn't working during my stay.
simply perfect. Free internet. some shade on the terrace would be more than welcome
The Convent and it's recent renovations the quietness of the surroundings and the Convent
Excelent hotel, great stay, very relaxed enviroment. A perfect mix of modern with the ancient. One of the best hotels in Portugal
Facilities and architecture are excellent. Food is good, well presented but over priced for quality. Sommelier is excellent. Poor service from reception staff at arrival. No porter, no explanation of facilities and no welcome drink.
It's a very quite and relaxing hotel. The spa is very pleasant. The decoration is amazing. The rates are high.
Silence and rest No
good location, clean rooms, excellent breafast the beds were too hard for us
Large balcony, ease of parking, good location to access town
Very plastic, and religious
The front desk check-in person was very helpful..and answered all of our questions
The location. It was near the train station and also by the seaside. It was very convenient to wonder around. In the night, it was noisy. My room was facing to the road and I heard many people passing through sometimes shouting.
Helpful staff, well situated hotel
It's a good location, the hotel and the room are very clean, the staff was very friendly and we had a great breakfast. Very satisfied. The room was small and a little noisy and the parking is not so big.
The beds were very uncomfortable -- hard mattresses.
I liked very much the room ( the colors are warm), the staff (people are kind and they are smiling all the time), it is very clean indead, and I liked the food.
This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed! Pete, Nina and their staff were so helpful and attentive. If you enjoy a really relaxed place to stay with big comfy sofas, and locally sourced products with a central location you need to stay here. In the year they have been in business Pete&Nina have made great stridescan't praise them enough We shall be returning!!! The place is a little hard to find due to Portuguese signs but thats all. Oh Peter needs to get some teapots for the English, you know how we love our tea!!
Phenomenal hotel tucked inside the old walled city of Evora. Everything within the walled part of the city is easily accessible by foot and the hotel staff is incredibly helpful with recommendations and making reservations to delicious local restaurants. The breakfast provided at the hotel is the best we've ever indulged in while on vacation in Europe. The room was first class and the price was very reasonable. Evora is an amazing place but this hotel in and of itself is worth the trip!
Hotel with great style, in the old town. The first night was double booked but the hotel found us an alternative prior to our arrival. Furthermore we were given a discount and the best room in the hotel. So in the end a good experience from a bad start.
The owners and staff were absolutely fantastic - very helpful and kind!
Interesting building full of character with friendly and helpful staff. Well presented breakfast. On site carparking and close to city centre. Very basic large suite but interesting! Heating is limited (we were there end of Dec). We asked for extra heating which was quickly provided.
Warm welcome, comfortable rooms/bed, wonderful conversion of 16C Olive Mill with lovely spaces to relax, fabulous organic breakfast, helpful staff, safe car park, free Internet.
Hospitality of staff, design and theme of hotel, local knowledge of staff, WiFi internet connection which is free
Location was central to main attractions, staff were extremely friendly and helpful and common areas of the hotel are comfortable and attractive.
I loved the breakfast. For the first time I got hot eggs for breakfast which was a lovely surprise. The hotel is designed very well and rooms are nice, a bit cold, but very clean. The lovely little lawn in front of the hotel is perfect for reading and chilling in the sun. The staff is very warm and beautiful and I found a special brown friend forever.
This is a wonderful place, a 16th century olive oil mill turned into a hotel. Rustic but in good taste, extremely comfortable, spotless, and with a warm, helpful staff. Frankly, my stay in Evora was made even more pleasant on account of my staying at the Albergaria do Calvario.
Location, room confort Breakfast (not to much choice). Waited 20 minutes to get a table.
nice building in nice surroundings = beatifull park
Lack of staff to attend the needs of the guests during breakfast.
Lack of interest in our complaint initially about a poor toilet. The reserved car park space was a nightmare one needed a needle to thread the car in and out of the space, frghtening with a new car.
nice view from the room (if facing the town) would expect more from a 4-star hotel
The views, the place, breakfast Just think that it was to expensive for the kind of hotel, it is a 4 star hotel i was expecting more!
Beautifully located intramuros, next to the old city walls. Lovely garden with swimmingpool. The interior of the hotel is best described as: "the beauty of simplicity". We stayed in a room overlooking the garden. Simple furniture but well choosen. And very quiet.
excellent location and beautiful garden with swimming pool
a very good location with all that most would require, pleasent and very helpful staff.. nothing
The location was perfect, the staff kindness and the calm
We booked this hotel on a whim after deciding to leave Faro a day early. It was perfect. Easy to find, the front desk attendant was really helpful, the room was simple and clean. All in all a great value for the money.
Basic hotel, but very clean, modern design and great location.
This hotel is the perfect choice in Evora. Great location near the main square, super clean and modern. As a boutique hotel, rooms are small, but quite fine. The beds are ridiculously comfortable. Ample garage parking for 5 euros per day. Location, parking, service, comfy beds.
Clean and new with free wifi Nothing
The tea served at the evening on the bedroom. It is a simple, but very good idea.
Place around. The house it self (Convento)
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Very romantic setting. Good breakfast, exceptional dinner at the restaurant. Very friendly English-speaking staff. Nothing
Historic aspect, atmosphere, site smeel in room
we are living and feeling the peace and tranquility of Alentejo-we are out of the world war
the location is really beautiful, the building is remarkable, but ... the hotel equipment is old, we booked a superior room but got an old room on the backside with no view at all, and the hotel was far from totally booked, the hotel needs to be renewed for it to be classified as 4****, now it is like 2** or 3***. they have everything for it to be a beautiful hotel, but not as it is now, prices far too high
We enjoyed the ambience. Last visit in 1974 during the revolution. Staff and surroundings were. excellent. Would definately recommend to others. The food was not as good as we thought it would be. Service excellent, but food fell short.
beautiful and interesting building, with small but comfortable rooms, in a wonderful location. insufficient front desk and dining room staff leading to delays.
The location of the place, and the atmosphere. Relative small room, but as expected.
The quality of service and accommodation
The hotel is characterful. Our room was small but quaint, it used to be a monks cell. The restaurant was pricey but food was reasonaly good. Location is excellent for exploring within the city walls of Evora. Bar was seemingly open but left unstaffed .
rooms beautiful, great atmosphere, very clean. Need to mention front desk very helpful and pleasant.
Staff became friendlier during the stay. Experience was less than average. Too expensive for what is offered. Maintenance is poor. Service was average. Key chain makes a lot of noise when opening and bothers all neighbors. The place has so much potential. The building itself is amazing, perfect setting to do a great Posada.
Relaxing. Nice luxury
The well preserved old architecture and good service. Fantastic spaces and displays.
The decor, the service, the food and the room comfort.
Staff helpful Not easy to get to by Car as signs to Pousada are incorrect unless walking. Large car trapped in narrow streets when there is a much safer and better route not identified at Estremoz or on the Sat Nav
Our only stay at a Castle-Pousada, on our 21 day trip. If we could've afforded it, we would have stayed at more. Because we felt almost like a king and queen... Service superb! No
We were surprised that an hotel could perform at all with the small level of activity that we encountered during our stay. It may be that the Hotel lives off tours and that the guests were out for the evening that we spent there. Service is helpful but a stay in an apparently empty hotel is not exciting. Thanks for your interest. J.E.Triay
nice setting, helpful staff. it needs a face lift. rooms small, furniture worn and the a/c wasn't effective ( working at all) in the 97 degree temperature. Dinner was ok but nothing to write home about.
Special experience to stay in an old castle. The value you get for the money paid was not what you can expect for the same price somewhere else. The bathrooms were pretty old and there was mildew on the walls. However the experience to stay in an old castle was special, but expensive compared to the other hotels we stayed in during our holiday in Portugal.
historic value and history
Architecture of the hotel, room, pool, breakfast Ambient in the dining room (musique like in the church)
Nice pool outside. As well I liked the old furnitures and decorations in the alleys. Bathroom was with marble and was not so comfortable as modern bathrooms.
Best thing, the situation, within the city walls, nice views, nicely kept garden. The 5 stars rating is misleading as one expects 5 stars facilities and service. The room was too small, without a single chair to seat down, and only a tiny window, placed too high to allow to see the beautiful view. Tasteless decoration.
Our second visit (the first in 1999) We returned for the ambiance, the tranquil, scenic setting, the successful conversion of an historic, attractive building into a stunning, modern guest hotel. The breakfasts were bountiful and excellent, as before.. the weather was perfect The dining food service was disastrous, inattentive, over-priced. During lunch on the day of our arrival we were the only four guests. We waited 90 minutes for our food. Two entrees (pasta) were inedible (probably forgotten in the kitchen). We were given credit on our bill. a third entree: four spears of (burned)asparagus and three filled mushrooms was over-priced at Euro 13.50 Likewise a couvert charge of Euro 4.90 each was excessive. We canceled previously made dinner reservations, and went to the village.
Good location, very nice combination of old and modern, friendly staff, large common spaces Some details can be improved (for instance, cleanliness of the window of the room, damaged room lamp that was not substituted after request)
The hotel itself and the rooms were beautiful and quite comfortable. Lovely views. Delicious buffet breakfast. The prices at the bar were very high (7.50 euros for a non-alcoholic juice mix).
Highly recommended. This converted convent is lovely and the staff was extremely generous and helpful. They spoke English and the hotel is a great base to see Evora (15 minutes away by car) as well as the many prehistoric sites in the area west of Evora. The deconsecrated chapel is completely lined with azulejos and the modern art hanging throughout the hotel makes a nice contrast. No.
Excellent staff, good swimming pool, great grounds to walk arround, fantastic breakfast. Dinner at night too expensive for the quality with cold plates and cold vegatables, the carpet in our room had curled up and we tripped over it a couple of times
We were very impressed with the history of the building and the tranquility of the location. The interior had been very sympathetically moderised to a very good standard without compromising the authenticity of the buildings.
location near the center difficil acces
the room too small even for a single person.nice staff
Comfortable very conveient for all of the places of interest in the city and restaurants. Scrambled egg for breakfast too long in heater.
The location and the staff was very warm, very helpful. The room was very clean. The breakfasts were excellent & a good variety of food.We really enjoyed to make our fresh orange juice every morning. We should be able to put certain ligths at different times. There is only one switch, so all lights come on.
central location, clean, good value for money with friendly and helpful hotel staff mattresses on our bed and on the baby bed were probably a bit old and so the most comfortable.
Central, within the city walls and close to the main turistic attractions. Breakfast could be better.
very good location, friendly staff, excellent room i have no complaints
Great full breakfast, very clean, free internet Very central for walking within the walls
The location is a little difficult to reach because it's in the heart of the old quarter, but it is fabulous for walking around the tourist sights once you are there. We went to a nearby restaurant to hear Fado and it was amazing! Just across the main street from the hotel, an authentic experience, not a 'show'. The food was excellent as well. We were not able to access the wireless with our Apple devices and the staff didn't seem too concerned about it. I suspect that they need a different type of router that deals with all kinds of devices. However, there was a PC in the lounge that we were able to use.
A well-balanced, comfortable hotel. Convenient location within the town. Easy and safe on-street parking, but be sure to get there early in the day. It's hard to find. Located on an outbound one-way street, you have to go right through the center of town to get there. And as others have said, the access street is not the same as the hotel's address.
