We only atayed 1 night but very comfortable
Convienent location, secure parking, value for money Did not serve dinner
we liked the tidiness of the room and the sanitaire. The personal was very friendly. It's a calm hotel. the bed was a bit narrow
Convenient location, very clean hotel and friendly staff
Pleasant hotel in centre of the small town of Bailleul. Rooms comfortable and quiet.
Charming hotel and room close to an interesting town center.
Near town centre, friendly staff. Secure parking at no extra cost.
Excellent room and friendly staff. Convenient for travel back to UK. Good secure car park.
Comfortable, good breakfast and proximity to the motorway. Price for an evening meal.We ate at a nearby shopping centre.
A nice hotel with easy access to the motorways and shopping No air conditioning. We had to go and buy an electric fan. Some guests had their room window open and the room door to try and gain some air.
unfortunately not much No AC, no lift, old instalations, service at Restaurante was poor. The pool looked also pretty scrapted. Urgent need for general renovation. 100 EUR is it not worth at all. Not easy to find through GPS neither.
Compared to other Novotels this hotel is getting a bit old. Otherwise comfort and location is good and provides the usual Novotel experience.
The Free WIfi & the service from the staff
It is on good location near motorway
Restaurant was excellent and price reasonable. Staff very helpful and friendly. drinks at bar very overpriced.
Typical business class hotel, comfortable room and good location.
Press for the breakfast Old novotel type hotel, overpriced for the old rooms
The hotel was excellently situated near the Motorway for arrival. It was close to Fromelles and other Great War British Cemeteries that we wished to visit. The room was spacious and the restaurant excellent. The closeness to the Motorway was convenient when after our stay we moved on for a weeks holiday near Mauberge.
Room was clean and adequate for an overnight stop with tea & coffee making facility. Much better than the premier classe next door. It is also convenient to have a restaurant on site. The hotel is not that easy to find mainly because it is not well signposted. Those signs that are in place are too small or only partially visible in the bushes once you have passed the entrance road. The check in desk is the bar in the restaurant but again is not clearly marked.
Conveniecene, location, freindly staff on arrival. updated restaraunt and dinner menu. Good security with outside ground floor metal window shutters added, broken cistern in toliet which dripped and ran continually all night, in fact hardly slept at all due to this. ( Room 2. ) We use Campanile a lot and this is the key reason for negative review. I mentioned this to reception in morning and this had been reported by another guest. Please attend to this problem as you only really notice it when trying to sleep .We had a long journey to Calais and then to North of uk the following day and very little sleep! We do use campanile and would stay again if this is put right as it is ideal location for me on business and holidays.
Good air-conditioning. Dreadful service in restaurant, very slow and they were not even busy. Very offhand reception staff. Patrick was rude, speaking to colleagues the whole time that we were checking out. No acknowledgement, no thank you. Will never stay here again.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Ideally located for the purpose of our trip (Rugby World Cup England match in Lens). minor point only: don't like plastic tea cups provided for use in the bedroom.
Clean, good choice at breakfast. No hairdryer in room
Room was cold. Two days before room heating worked.
The room was very quiet and the food was good . I did not like the non smoking room in the restaurant it is far to small and not as nice as the smoking side.
simple and easy to book and staff were helpful. Meal well priced
Location excellent, very easy to find. Bed a bit hard, as usual, and Campanile should provide more pillows (best to bring your own). Food in the restaurant very good, above average for Campaniles. Would stay again. Toilet needs replacing.
Friendly staff who made us feel welcome & did thier best to talk English to us. Very convenient place to stay when using the A26 south from Calais. Our visit was spoilt by the noise from motorbikes that were racing back & forth near the hotel into the early hours of the next day, but this might not happen every night.
Location close to highway, parking, free WiFi. Very noisy corridors (door slamming, people talking late at night), WiFi very slow, food basic.
Bed very comfortable, breakfast was good, tea making facilities in room, location not too far from metro about 10mins slow walk, easy to get to from motorway, staff very good and helpful. Would stay there again Comedy Bath a bit small ;-) but caused much amusement.
Restaurant good and staff helpful. Was not aware that restaurant is closed on Sundays. Difficult entrance off a busy road and difficult to find.
The food was good and reasonably priced. Found staff friendly and helpful. bedding and towels were 'tired' and would have benefitted from replacement. The hotel lacked a guests' lounge and would benefit from refurbishment.
Good breakfast buffet. Good secure parking. Rooms was very small and basic, just a bed and a bathroom. Tiles in shower needed regrouting to remove black stains. Shower curtain fitted poorly resulting in overspray on bathroom floor.
Breakfast buffet had good selection of food and drinks. Parking was good and secure with electric gates. Room was clean but felt well used and "tired". No room to move in room when 3rd bed was pulled out. Access to bathroom was difficult during the night. Bathroom was clean but shower was in need of re-tiling.
hotel was ideal for our holiday as our trip was to search for information about my grandfather was killed in houplines in ww1 so your hotel was perfect for us your staff were most helpfull
Close to transport (Metro and Autoroute)Safe parking Clean room and bed Stairs and tobacco smoke
the staff were excellent the bed was broken
Bed was quite comfortable and shower worked ok. The area was quite quiet at night and we had a nice meal at the restaurant next door. Room too small for 2 people, especially the bathroom. We had to ask for tea and coffee making facilities, but the only electric kettle they had leaked water into the electrical connections, so we had to buy our own. The shower curtain was broken at one end, so it was difficult to prevent water from going everywhere. There were only 2 hangers on a rail and no shelves for clothes. Also the door closer was broken.
Convenience, small but comfortable room, great price. Shower and toilet were small, but everything we needed was there, including soap and towels. A horrible smell when we entered the room. The staff cleared it with air-freshener, but it was a worry. The bedspread was not very clean, although the sheets, towel and the rest of the room were spotless.
Shower room had everything you needed, was well designed but was extremely small. Good powerful shower. Hotel was quiet, clean and secure. Nice firm matress. Breakfast generous. Friendly staff. Pillows weren't great. Mind you don't bump your head on the tv!
Used as a base for sightseeing
The staff were very friendly and welcoming i had no problem communicating with them they were english speaking. There is free parking with free Wifi. The hotel is walking distance from The shopping centre there is also an ikea, buffalo grill and 24 screen cinema apparently the largest in france and the metro to eurolille takes less then 20 minutes from the hotel. The room was very basic a double bed a desk a TV. No kettle or iron not really any real space to move around. The Shower and toilet was really small for an en suite but there is soap in there with towels.
Easy, small but efficient facilities. I was promised a non smoking room but the room was heavily smelling smoke.
Unique decor and history of hotel, located in a spectacular French small town.
Excellent room, service, breakfast. Theme rooms were great fun. Travelled with parents and other family member they had great rooms and enjoyable stay. No bad points.
Absolutely lovely Hotel. Fantastic setting on top of a hill, with amazing views. Peaceful, comfortable rooms, very imaginatively decorated. Very friendly staff and generally lovely ambiance
Plenty of space, large bedroom with comfortable bed. Lovely view from breakfast room & balcony. Smell of air freshener / incense(?) when first arrived in room.
Layout of cottage was excellent, especially as we had dogs. No staff spoke any English. No restaurant. Unable to work tv system correctly - only 4 channels available and all were French. Roof had leaked onto bed so bedclothes were wet and stained - it appeared that the room had not been checked prior to occupation (other than to turn on some heating) and had not been used for some time. Glass door on single toilet, which was right next to kitchen, was not appropriate. Access to main hotel from the cottage was difficult due to lack of lighting and no directions so had to access by walking back round from main road. Information in room suggested that breakfast was available in the room but this was not the case (having called a french speaking friend to translate for us).
The tranquillity and view were superb would have to be very lucky to find another as good. At the time we stayed it lacked atmosphere as it was very very quiet, think only one other couple were staying.
We liked the location, the amazing views from the room and the building's character.
Superb! We had a 7 hour drive from Switzerland to UK and wanted to stay somewhere en route near Calais. There are not many hotels near Calais like this one. Off the beaten track, but only 40 minutes drive to the ports in the morning. Fantastic room (Moulin Rouge suite) and just a generally high quality feel to the whole place. Only continental breakfast available and we thought the bread/croissants/jam already on our table was it, however more followed including hot crepes, fruit, cheese, ham etc. Nothing to complain about, but 2 observations: 1) There is only a small car park which has quite a tight entrance. Max 4 cars which might be a problem in high season. However, it does feel very secure as you are parked literally at the front door and overlooked by reception. At busier times, there is parking at the rear of the hotel. 2) The hotel did not offer evening meals when we stayed (end Sept). Initially we thought this a poor situation, but the staff were able to provide a list of recommended local restaurants many of which were only a short walk away. Our trip to the Kasteelhof Restaurant proved memorable as it was very rustic and full of local charm and surprisingly inexpensive.
The hotel was in a good location, the room was really nice with a huge bathroom and lots of space. The breakfast is very overpriced at 12.50 euros per person and the room had an overpowering smell of perfumed cleaner so we had to open all the windows to clear the smell a bit.
Peaceful. Lovely swimming pool. Although no restaurant was easy walking distance of several good restaurants. Interesting history from 1st world war. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times but when we had an accident in our car they transported us to the ferry for our return journey home. Over and above the call of duty. With many thanks to Justine and all the lovely staff on duty day and night.
The owner and his wife made us most welcome and were very friendly and helpful. Both spoke perfect English so were able to answer all our tourist queries. Excellent continental breakfast - between 0700 and 10am, not like some uk BandB's where it is 0830-0900! This is good for those going to work and also for those wanting a holiday lie in. Unfortunately, as we were there for only two nights and we went into the Lille Christmas market one night and the Ypres 8pm ceremony at the Menin Gate the second night, we didn't eat dinner at the hotel. However, the cooking smelled delicious and the menu looked good value. Our room and the bathroom were spotless with tea and coffee making facilities and a large flat screen T.V. Free wifi also. The hotel is about ten minute's drive from Lille City Centre so a car is essential. We believe there is a metro not too far away but transport is needed to get to it.
Chosen for location only as I was unaware of surroundings and it was close to rail and bus links which worked well. I was disappointed that this was a room only price and breakfast was extra. Location did mean that it was often noisy with trains going thro the station until late.
Very reasonable price, good breakfast, had a telly. Had some very noisy neighbours especially the ones banging on the door and in the room next door!?!?!?! May stay again without kids
clean and tidy, next to bethune, near calais and autoroute
Simple late access
Free wifi was great. The service in the restaurant at the attached Campanile was bad.
The day-after checkout. No receptionist during night. Rooms too small. Bathroom same as a Ferryboat. Bed sheet dirty of hair and body hair.
Very helpful reception staff. Proximity of Campanile for dinner although not keen on the generalm buffet that was on offer there. Pod toilet and shower very small.
combination of good location for world cup rugby, reasonable price, good centre for lille, somme battlefields and memorial sites, arras.
The staff were very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Because of my health, they gave us a ground floor room. Added to which they pointed out that there was a restaurant next door, with a discount for Premier Classe guests. The bed although large, was rather well used, and had a fair sized depression, causing one to roll into the middle
Booking in with more than one room was time consuming - it took us nearly 15 minutes - that could be made easier.
convenience to motorway very uncomfortable mattress, breakfast not worth the money
