9.6 Excellent
Pros: Another outstanding stay with Bridget and Sean at Abbeyside ! Abundant breakfast choiuces (and delicious home-baked scones ! ) 5-minute walk to Ballintubber Abbey and local pub (across the street), with 2 outstanding restaurants just a 10-15 minute drive away in the next village. Location is blissfully removed from traffic and farm lane walks are close at hand. Rooms are large and bright, with spacious modern en-suite facilities and indulgent bedding. I couldn't ask for a better stay !
Cons: Location may be too quiet if you like city life.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was warm, the room was fantastic and the beds and pillows were exceptional. The breakfast in the morning was fabulous, like a banquet! Our 15, 12 and 11 year old loved everything about our stay. The hostess homemade scones were delicious and she even allowed us to take some with us when we checked out.. would strongly recommend this B&B to other guests.
Cons: Loved it all !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very quiet property. Perfect for our needs. It had ample parking and was easy to find. The bedrooms were large, comfortable and warm. Hosts were models of the legendary Irish hospitality and made us feel very welcome. The amazing breakfast served included homemade and local ingredients. Probably the best Irish breakfast I had in years in Ireland! Delighted to have stayed there.

Pros: The Proximity to Ballintubbet Abbey is a Godsend. The sight of cattle, sheep and cute little horses makes it a true change from city life.

Cons: Could not fault anything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast VG. Apart from the prevailing all-welcoming ambience, what distinguishes this guesthouse is the unique, period quality of the the house appointments so much in keeping with the tenor of the (history evoking) address.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This place has been tended to with love and care. Before even setting foot into the B&B, be prepared to be amazed by the garden, which has little chairs and nooks you can wander through during the stay. The house itself was beautiful. You can tell it's old but impeccably maintained. I felt privileged to be a guest here and share in the love of the hosts for their big old house. We stayed in a room upstairs that had a view of the garden and the front. Be warned...no lifts and I didn't want to damage the walls wrestling our suitcases upstairs so that meant several trips up and down the stairs. Good thigh workout! This might be an old house but they have done some excellent upgrades. The bathroom was no exception! Insta-hot water in the showers! Breakfast was amazing. Hello Victorian Tea room! Great ambiance! Great decor! Loved the antiques!
Cons: NOTHING!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful, really nice. It had comfortable beds and linens. The house is gorgeous as well as the grounds. We had water and tea in our room which was nice as well. Nicest B&B I have been to. Staff were also very accommodating. It was managed very well:) I was impressed by my stay.
Cons: All was very good to be honest. If I had to say anything she shower tray drained slow while taking a shower. But this was obviously minor and had no effect on our stay.

Pros: We liked that we were within walking distance of restaurants, shops, etc. We chose this facility because it is located near where my cousins live and easy for them to pick us up. After we were moved to the first floor, we liked not having to climb stairs. The breakfasts were good and we appreciated being able to stop in for tea during the day as well as for breakfast.
Cons: We would have liked an area to sit and relax other than our room where there was only one chair. There is a sofa in a dark corner of the entryway that we didn't use that may have been for guests but we weren't sure.

Pros: Mary is a wonderful host. We indicated we would arrive between 4-5pm but rang Mary at 7.30pm to say we had been held up. She had waited for us and was relieved that we were ok and then ensured there would be a family member available to meet and greet us as she had to go out. We enjoyed the full Irish breakfast provided as well as cereal and toast. Mary gave us local knowledge which was an added bonus. We would definitely stay here again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mary gave us tea, coffee and cake when we arrived after a long drive. She suggested places to see and where to find the music scene where my husband could play his accordion. The Irish breakfast was so enormous that we didn’t need lunch. We had the family room which was large and very comfortable with a tv, arm chairs, table, kettle and tea and coffee. The house is on a quiet road out of Cong, surrounded by fields but within easy walking distance of the Quiet Man tourist spots.

Pros: Very very good
Cons: 8
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I usually don't bother to review unless a property either falls short of its prior reviews or exceeds my expectations. Westbrook Country House exceeded expectations. It's a recently constructed home with modern amenities but Victorian-era detailing (e.g., etched glass in the front hall, carved balusters on a formal stairway, curved (yes, curved) doors, all done by local craftsmen. Large rooms, very comfortable bed, well appointed bath, breakfast served on porcelain, and the plushest and largest bath towels on our entire trip. Special thanks to a gracious and very helpful owner. Our rental car had a flat in the morning, and as we waited for the repair truck to arrive, we were offered tea or coffee and, more importantly, were not hurried out of our room. The owner also took over on the phone with the repair truck driver, guiding him to our location. All in all, the courtesy shown eliminated any stress. Westbrook Country House is a bit of a drive from Westport, where we went for dinner, but the drive was hardly a chore.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very luxurious. Mary was wonderful. Great breakfast. Second time was even better than our first. Will definitely return.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Staying with this family was the highlight of our trip. We had been planning on visiting the shrine for a longer time but were not sure if my grandmother’s health was up to it. Having this BnB made this trip possible. They gave us a downstairs room. Offered us transport to and from the airport and when ours cancelled one of family members dropped us off and refused to take our money! The brekfast is a full english, the beds are cosy and the security is top notch. The host is a lovely lovely lady who has regained my faith in god. This is the best BnB in knock and we aspire to stay in touch with the owners. As for the Shrine , be weary of the Irish weather as this may ruin the atmosphere with everyone always wanted to be indoors. However the lreist have inspired accents and deliver relevant sermons that are different every day. Remember to do the various things at the shrine. Visit every church and go to confession and counselling. The museum isn’t amazing but the cafee is.
Cons: Nothing substantial, just don’t stay in knock too long because it can get boring after you’ve seen the shrine!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was amazing with beautiful views of the tidal bays and mountains. The house is very nice and well maintained. The owner was wonderful to talk with and was very helpful. She called and made a dinner reservation for us at a local restaurant which turned out to be one of our best meals on our vacation.
Cons: We had two rooms. In one room the mattresses seemed new but in the other room the mattress is close to needing replacement. In both rooms new pillows are needed. Advice: Don’t open the room windows in the evening with the lights on. We had the windows open and the room and bathroom became filled with flying insects. This interfered with our sleep. There are no screens on the windows. We did not have this problem at other locations that we stayed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Perfectly situated between Westport & Newport. Our room was actually a lpt bigger than even the picture conveyed. We were pleasantly surprised. Very close to Greenway Cycling track & the amazing Burrishoole loop walks.

Pros: We had a great time, every member of staff made us feel welcomed - it felt like home from home. We will stay there again!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole stay was excellent from start to finish
Cons: The fact that you could not go into the hotel for a drink or look around or to book something. You had to book something that you had not seen or could rate prior to being allowed into the hotel. Felt like a second class citizen at the door when I was refused entry to even look around !!!
6.3 Good
Pros: The location
Cons: Unfortunately we arrived at 4pm and had to put up with drilling until 6pm. We had a long journey and really need rest. We used the bicycles available one was ok but the other had no rear brakes and gears were not working. The main reason for our stay was to take the boat ride which when we got to Ferry we were told it was broken. The shower in the bathroom looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or descaled in months. I was rather disappointed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The irish hospitality was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble . The locatation at Ashford lodge was wonderful. Would like to say that the breakfast buffet was excellent and catered for everyones needs.
Cons: We found that the menu was a bit lacking In variation of choice of meals. Lack of garnish and side salads with things like burger to make the plate look more colourful and appetising. Also not a lot of vegetarian choice such as vegetable chilli and rice or lasagna with salad and garlic bread. Jacket potatoes with various fillings. All quick and easy meals to prepare. But sadly lacking on your menu. Fair to say that the meals we had were nicely cooked .And staff were very helpful and curtious.
