Very good location, staff very friendly, very clean and comfortable and nice balcony. We will come again.
The stuff was always ready to help.
First of all make sure you know the difference between a HOTEL and a GUEST HOUSE and don't make my mistake. Guest Houses usually are cheap but after traveling thru the city we find out that the place was VERY EXPENSIVE. In fact was double the price of our previous HOTEL (we traveled a lot and changed few hotels during our stay in Thailand). The bathroom was very small. The shower wasn't separate from the rest of the bathroom and because the shower drain was located behind the toilet there was always a lot of water on the bathroom floor. There was a useless moldy curtain shower. The AC compressor was located near the window and was very noisy. The wardrobe had no shelves so we had to keep our stuff packed in luggage. There was a safe in the room but not connected to anything, a theft could stole the whole safe with the stuff inside so we decided not to use it although there was a message saying that the place doesn't take responsibility for the stolen stuff. You are not allowed to bring durian fruits in the Guest House or you're going to be fined. I respect and understand the property decision about durian as I respect about smoking but I thing the property have to advertise this kind of rules on Booking.com so we know BEFORE we pay. If I'm not allowed to bring specific food in my room, I need to know. The place was located in a terrible SLAM and after I saw the building location I finally understood why there's only one picture from the building outside and the rooms's curtains are always off in every single picture advertised on Booking.com. The place it is not located near Chinatown. It's IN Chinatown and that's a big minus (later on you'll find why). The WiFi signal was very strong BUT I rarely had internet, something like 5 minutes to show a webpage. Most of the time I had no internet at all.(see attached pic) Please note one important detail: locals are extremely nice people.
The hotel is located at the end of a narrow and dark alley: especially arriving in the night, you may get worried about the atmosphere. You will discover instead a nice and quiet place in the heart of the charming Chinatown, where people live with their genuine habits and smiling children are playing in the street. The location is also really strategic: walking distance from train and underground stations and from the Chinatown pier; hundreds of tuk-tuk and taxi are also available everywhere to easily get to any places not served by public transportation. The staff is helpful and very friendly. The room was just perfect for our needs: large enough, clean, comfortable bed. The bathroom without a separation between shower and toilette may be reason for a bit of discomfort, but you will easily find a way to use it. The breakfast was not included, but complimentary coffee, tea and water were available. Considering my program for visiting Bangkok and my personal idea of accommodation here, I am really satisfied to have been at ZEN room Yaowarat.
Breakfast Changed a Bit every das. Local dishes already available for breakfast. Loved it.
