Good basic hotel and service with helpful staff meagre supply of tea & coffee, suger, milk in a double room, adequate only for single occupancy. Breakfast toaster was virtually useless.
Convenience for city centre Possibly a little expensive
Modern, no nonsense, close to centre of town. The TV in our friends' room did not work.
the location was great, the room was spacious, modern and clean, food was good, and all staff were friendly,
Spotlessly clean, central Easy to find but difficult to access by car. We booked a twin-bed room but it was a double. However, nobody took us to our room, and we were too tired after a long drive to drag our luggage back to reception and ask for a change of room.
Staff were very helpful and provided useful information and guidance in English which was a plus as our French was limited.
Hotel reception staff very efficient. Had a small query regarding booking and they resolved it promptly before travelling. Managed to get a promotional deal which reduced the cost from what was originally quoted. Look out for them! One of our party lost a coat in one of the local hostelries, and the reception staff offered to retrieve it for us and post it on. Has now been recieved within two days. Noothing of note, although would suggest you check the cost of breakfast carefully. It cost us a lot more than we anticipated, and the costing was not clear before travelling. Parking to unload in front of hotel could be awkward.
Overall I thought the staff were great, really helpful and the cleaner did her best. I felt the rooms were a little run down and poorly maintained. Fittings were loose and windowsill coming away from the wall. Bathroom fittings were worn and shoddy. The car park below was appalling and very badly lit a nightmare to park in.
Comfortable modern hotel near 'old town' Whilst there was a charge for parking it was very convenient and ticket was verified at reception.
Good location although parking was a pain Inadequate coffee in the room; shower screen was useless;
Good substantial breakfast I chose this hotel to see visit the underground bar - sadly it was not open to the public????
everything especially restaurant
Excellent restaurant and friendly staff
Very good location in the centre of Arras. Parking was not a problem at all. No
Courteous Staff and comort and cleanliness n/a
We did not stay there - our room was fooded so we were rebooked into the Hotel du Golf
The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast good. We selected the hotel as we had stayed before and it is most convenient to the town centre of Arras and also has parking. We, could, thus, arrive by car, park it, and then walk to the town centre from there. Nothing to say here.
The hotel is very nice and the restaurant is excellant
A bijou hotel, with well appointed rooms. Close to the town centre with safe parking. The restaurant was expensive but absolutely excellent. I have not eaten such a good meal since I was at Le Manoir in Oxfordshire. A real delight. The room was rather smalll. Also the lighting onto the courtyard was on all night and it was rather like daylight in our room all night.
The hotel has been modernised since I last stayed there and is very convenient for the city centre. The staff are not very impressive. The receptionist was pleasant but didn't really know what she was doing and failed to pass on our request for a table booking to the restaurant. The restaurant staff were reasonablty efficient but lacking in any charm.
The hotel was clean and the staff were lovely and friendly. Location was easy to find (albeit quite a way out of town) but plenty of parking available and a restaurant and bar downstairs.
shower was awesome! more english channels on tv would help - but this is very minorgood but a hair dryer would be useful - apart from that perfect
The staff were all extremely friendly - an essential ingredient to a successful hotel - bar/restaurant clean and more than adequate (plus free wi-fi another 'essential'.
Location Food in the cafe was cold and staff were under pressure. All of which was well below that expected at an hotel of that star rating
Hotel was excellent value and ideal location to explore WW1 Thiepval sites. Also close to Albert town with its museums.
Nice staff, decent breakfast
Staff were attentive and spoke English which is good for those of us with a spattering of Franglaise. As it was a relatively new hotel it was modern and clean with all new fittings. Rooms good and bathroom modules a good idea. Enjoyed the food (dinner and Breakfast). Location good for battlefield touring (reason for visit). Good access. From the outside it looks fairly basic but inside all was to our liking. Would recommend this as a place to stay for anyone wanting a similar base for battlefield touring. No dislikes
Perfect location for our needs and very well laid out. I would have liked more armchairs to sit relax after meal - a lounge area.
Good sized room with excellent view Lift cramped.Toilet/drain smelly
great location & friendly staff! i would certainly stay at this hotel again!
it was a one night stay over so not much to say but it done the job ok bit noisy as to location, but not a major problem,
The staff was incredibly friendly and the location was just across the street from the train station. This made getting around really easy to and from the hotel. Not as nice as I'd hoped for the price, but it was still definitely a clean room. Otherwise everything else was great.
Location Location location, Good Service, Rooms temp. too hot
central position; easy access to town; polite and helpful english-speaking reception; car parking (though not cheap) have used this hotel for the third or fourth time now and the continental breakfast choices have clearly deteriorated eg one morning no fruit, second morning no toasting bread, etc. One morning nowhere to sit as every table messy tho' the one girl present was doing her best. Campanile continental breakfasts much superior ( and less cost?)
Good staff, positive action when inoperative aircon reported. Good location with safe car park No cooling in lobby on top floors
This room was very comfortable and clean, staff were helpful, the location was fabulous and breakfast was very good.
nice location breakfast not very good, bread and vienoiseries not good
It's location , easy to find and secure parking Nothing
the breakfast room entry card - difficult to get it to work also two false fire alarms
Quality of the room for the price... very nice
Holiday Inn Express provides a great stay at good value. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. We had our own controls for air con/heating along with tea and coffee making facilities. The design of the bathroom was ingenious with a door that allowed the toilet to be used separately. The hairdryer was in the room - all designed to allow two people to get ready at the same time. Close to Place de Heroes and Grand Place. Buffet breakfast good for the price Paying for parking was a minor inconvenience but really didn't detract from our stay
It was near to the countryside for cycling to visit the WWI battlegrounds and cemetaries that was the goal of our stay.
Quick service. Polite staff. Good choice at breakfast. Hair dryer in room. Although the room was non smoking previous guests had obvoiusly abused this rule. The towels were very worn and discoloured. No teamaking facility in the room
rooms were clean food was plenty and that is it the lady that checked us in was nice and polite she help me out as i only had 6 rooms and did not book mine, but after she went the staff was poor and that let her good work down. when you ask for anything it was though it was an effort to get it. they shut the hotel up at 2115hrs on saturday night with out letting us know the bar would not open saturday night. it was though they did not want the custom
Cleanliness and basic comfort, good restaurant
The breakfast Did not have internet access. It was not well insulated for noise
close to Arras centre, only a short bus ide away. Easy access from the motorway and only an hour from Calais One of the rooms smelt of stale smoke despite being a non-smoking hotel
Staff very helpful and approachable; very comfortable double bed; good food Floor in the room was dirty - had been hoovered but not washed, so we ended up with dirty feet
It was clean nothing around the hotel, had to drive a significant distance just to find a decent meal.
the location was convenient
Access to main roads and ease of getting into town centre, value for money for buffet breakfast, good short stop over while travelling around country
Large room, comfortable beds, clean..
convenience to the motorway decor a little tired, noise from nearby road
The staff were courteous and helpful the restaurant was fine with a friendly atmosphere. The Hotel location was difficult to find,But it was the first time we had been to Arres France
Bed was extremely comfortable; food in the bar/restauramt was surprisingly good. Staff helpful. We struggled to find the hotel, even with the directions supplied.
The usual standard campanile facilities. You generally know what you are going to get. A little tricky to find as sigposting ran out after first turn off main road.
Easy access. The restaurant buffet.
The host is delightful and very helpful. The bathrooms are spacious and clean
Excellent position and very helpful owner. Rooms are on the small side and there are many stairs!
Excellent location to enjoy the city and landmarks. Well maintained. The clerk that was on duty when we registered could have been more helpful re. parking options.
Free and easy access to wifi. Central location. Free access to local history books inc guide books and WW1 books. Easy to locate. The room was a bit on the small side for a long stay but for a couple of nights it was fine.
Location. Very small rooms.
We liked the fact that hotel was on the beautiful square and the close proximity to Vimy which was the purupose of our visit. The owner/1 man show who runs the place was very efficient, helpful and saw to our every need. The buffet breakfast was adequate and worth 8 Euros. We would stay again but ask for a front room. The books in reception that were available to read about the first world war were and added plus. There was no where to sit in the room to enjoy a glass of wine. There was no place for two large pieces of luggage + carry on without falling over the bags. The room was a little small. We faced on to the back and if we were to go again, we would ask for a front room facing the amazing square. The room heaters did not work.
Friendly helpful service. The breakfast is superb all local produce. Stay at this hotel.
Great Hotel, nice view from the room
The central position in the town and very good breakfast (ham, cheese, eggs, orange juice, tea, pancakes, jams, croissants, fruits...). There is also free tea and coffee at the reception from 2 PM to 10 PM. The stuff is very polite and they speak English. When we arrived, they gave us maps of Arras and advised us what to visit in the city. The room is a little bit too small.
Manager was very helpful and welcoming , cleanliness of rooms good and excellant breakfast. Rooms were very small
Very close to the main square, for local food and drinks. The museum is 30 feet away. You can buy private parking for 5 Euro, but the parking is free on the street.
Good service. breakfast & dinner. Comfortable room. No problems.
Great location, helpful staff Hotel is a bit tired. Bathroom, not shower.
Location only The hotel was practically empty and restaurant was closed
The friendly helpful welcome the shower was very complicated. I am 78 kgs only 1m65 tall almost impossible to sit o0n the toilet - room 208
Very central location and cleanliness no shower curtain, no towels in the room on arrival, very 70's feel despite the recent renovation,
convenient location.staff friendly.parking convenient.cleanliness of room food -.recommend to eat out. no shower curtain.room rather dingy although refurbished.dining room shabby and dusty
Friendly staff & convenient location. We were told within 30 mins of booking in that it was not possible to eat at Hotel as restaurant was full. Told the following day thah it was a mistake ! Also info. on your web site says 2 restaurants - a bit misleading as far as we were concerned. Others in our party in another double room had cause to complain about functioning of shower taps, unclean pillows, lack of towels (only one small and one shower size for 2 people.
Perfectly situated in the heart of Peronne, Hotel Saint Claude provides both comfortable value for money accomodation with excellant staff.
We have been staying Albert for the past 10 years, and this was our first time staying at the Hotel De La Paix. It has a nice intimate feel that you do not get from the bigger chain hotels. However it is a ilttle dated but this does not overcome the fact it was a very pleasent place to stay. The Chap in charge is also the chef, en eventhough we spoke different langauges, we were able to still chat and he was very friendly as were the rest of the staff. Food was good, location was good, beds were comfortable. will stay there again. A great base for visiting the Great War Battlefields on the Somme. The only thing I was not happy about was the actual toilet which appeared to be an electronic thingy that made a lot of noise when you flushed it. Also when you had a shower water tended to collect under the sink that youneeded to put a towel under in order to soak it up. These are minor things that do not take away from the fact that we enjoyed our stay and will stay there again.
friendly + helpful staff. Breakfast basic but good. rooms are a bit tatty and in need of renovation.
Friendliness of owner and staff. Cleanliness of the rooms and situation of hotel excellent. Decoration of bedrooms interesting, wardrobe very floppy didn't risk putting anything in it. Could do with checkin being earlier we were lucky to get see the owner and get in before 6pm which appeared to be when the hotel opened its doors. It was a very cold and wet day which if we had had to wait 2 hours in a car, nothing open in February, it would not have been very comfortable. However we didn't because we saw the owner through the locked door of the hotel and he happily opened up for us.
The location was central and the hotel had it's own unique individuality, a typical French provincial hotel. Would have liked tea/coffee making facility. Our room although clean looked a bit tired in decoration.
We had a warm welcome. The hotel is perfectly placed for visits to the area of the First World War battlefields and the beautiful countryside of the Somme. Good size bedroom, and good dinner in nice traditional restaurant.
Good, well maintained, friendly, older property. Located within walking distance of city centre and on main access through Albert. Noise no problem. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent in house restaurant.
The staff were generally friendly. Bar was pleasant and open for children to play billiards. The room for 4 was a triple room with one bed a sofa that had been made up as a bed. A matress on the floor. We didnt eat, but the food looked very good, but too expensive for me and the children
very nice hotel, staff very nice & food outstanding
Excellent dinner menu. Noise from main road. Very small bathroom.
The meal was the highlight, fine dining, good service The room was a little small and stuffy, we opened the window, but the traffic noise meant we eventually had to shut it
Needs to be cleaner, workman on flat roof outside window, very disconcerting as he was on the same level as us, no privacy.
The peace and quiet of the hotel in general and the comfortable dining room and bar area
Excellent Hotel for touring the Battlefields. Easy parking and good attention by staff Whilst Hotel room was good value, meals and drinks were expensive and put the bill up rather. Nothing nearby as an altrnative Dining venue.
Very nice furnishings, free parking, good location, quiet. Restaurant very expensive, no lifts to handle luggage to room
Excellent food and service. The first room we were allocated overlooked the noisy kitchen air conditioning unit and the factory next door. However we requested a change a were given a very pleasant room at the front of the hotel.
arrived later than announced, but still got access rooms were located at the back, not possible to leave windows open due to noisy ventilation system at the outside of building
Location of Hotel beside a motorway
Convenient location for a visit to the WW1 battlefields. Difficult to find. There is no given address that can be pinpointed with a GPS. It was only after we passed the hotel and turned off the autoroute some 10 km further on and found our way back on country roads, that we discovered that the hotel is part of a rest stop on the autoroute.
Location, room facilities, decor Not enough pillows per room. No kettle/ drinks making facilities in rooms
Good sized room. Friendly and helpful staff. Well placed on the Autoroute. Pillows - too hot. Air conditioning not sure if it was available (old climate controls). Needed to cool the room a little, but it was a hot day. Don't like paying for Wi-Fi generally, think it should be free/included in hotels, so probably hesitate recommending to business colleagues.
A perfect motorway stop-over for someone journeying from England to almost anywhere in France. (I left work at 4.00pm, caught the 6.30 Eurotunnel and was eating my - imited, but perfectly acceptable - French dinner at 9.40pm (their time). Ready to go, refreshed, the following morning. Breakfast over-priced at 13 Euros.
Bed was like a rock!
Easy stop after arriving Paris and heading north, but is on other side of expressway. A bit noisy as close to expressway but convenient
This was our 4th stay, and as always the staff were polite. Plus the ease off the A-1.
The food was good and the parking secure My room smelt of smoke and there was no proper bar area. Its looking a bit tired.
In room 207, the heating did not work. They gave us room 210, and the shower head is leaking, and does not stay up.
