10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location perfect for travelling back from Spain. Evening meal was good, and the croissants at breakfast were excellent. Will recommend to friends at home.
Cons: Everything was almost perfect as an overnight stop
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a good value for money unpretentious hotel for the TRAVELLER. It is not a holiday hotel. We enjoyed an evening meal and light breakfast during our stay. We enjoy trying to converse with long-distance lorry drivers (on this occasion they were from Ukraine). It helps to speak enough French to get the best out of how the restaurant operates. You might guess this was not our first visit. We come back because it is GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY and it is on our route (use exit for Barbezieux Centre).
Cons: For the price charged, probably nothing.

Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find, ample parking, clean very helpful staff.
Cons: Not 24 hour reception, if arriving after 11pm be sure to call ahead. The staff were very accommodating even though I arrived at 1am without calling them ahead.
4.6 Okay
Cons: Not value for money at all. Only one tiny towel each. No toiletries, only small bar of soap. Room fittings were DIY. Looked more like a student hostel than a hotel. No air-con or fan so had to open window. No reception or security as the owner was running restaurant next door. Could not recommend this hotel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little hotel, nice rooms in a fairly new wooden extension with a patio over looking the garden. The night we stayed the restaurant was closed as they had a special music night with a live band. they could only provide light meal of cooked meats, pate, salad and bread served on a board which we had, with a bottle of wine and was excellent. Good breakfast the following morning. Will go back again.
Cons: Nothing!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Bed
Cons: Dinning area with noise
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were lovely, accommodation was clean and tidy, would have been good to have dinner in restaurant but we arrived late.
7.1 Good
Pros: Staff very helpful and kind. Smiles all the time, good ambiance.
Cons: The bathroom smelled bad and the bath tub had a missing plug. Therefore there was a big hole. Missing products were also missing like shampoo, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste.. No ac and it was a hot night so it wasn't a pleasant sleep. The bar was missing alot of beverages also.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was fine although undertaken by one member of staff who seemed to be doing everything. Calls/Check outs/Table service etc
Cons: The hotel has a down at heel feel. We have stayed here a few times over the years but this was a poor experience seeing a once good little hotel so poorly run
6.3 Good
Cons: Arrived 7 pm, nobody there, rang the tel no which was answered by a lady who said it was her day off. Told me room no 7, key in door, restaurant & bar closed. Why could they not have emailed this information ? We had driven from Cherbourg, no tea or coffee!! At about 10 pm I was woken from my sleep by a lady asking if I wanted breakfast & that I had asked to see her. Yes but a bit late ! The communication was shocking & we are not mind readers, shame because it looked a nice place. Of course people are entitled to time off but they must communicate. Will not be rebooking for our journey home.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not a thing
Cons: Gone down hill rubbish food alfull when booking out a mix up with Bill charge more than a first payment. Do not intend to use you booking.com or them.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room. Comfy bed and clean fresh linen. Patio doors onto a small terraced and fenced in grass area. Wonderful and secure for travel with a dog.
Cons: The lighting between the car park and the annex could be improved.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very nice Place is quiet Rooms Window doors onto the Terrace bring a lot of light Rooms relatively big Conveniently located near Pons Big carpark
Cons: Breakfast way below average (tea or coffee / croissants / bottled juice only) Window doors can be unsafe for those who carry lots of expensive stuff (though the area itself is safe actually) Materials used in the room are old and cheap. A good renovation with higher end doors / handles / shower / bed would be good. Beds are very soft...

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was good, with overlooking of the surrounding fields from the room, Owners were excellent, great conversation, good continental breakfast for which the owners were also very informative of destinations locally and with the Cognac region, would stay again in one of the Gites or larger rooms and will be recommending family to visit and stay in one of the aforementioned accommodations. Many thanks to the owners.
Cons: We did take all of our swimming gear, towels etc, to find that the pool was out of action, not a major problem, but we were expecting the facility and may have appreciated the heads up prior to packing the gear, but overall the room was comfortable, if a bit on the small size for a larger person but the Owners were excellent, possible suggest one of the Gites or larger rooms and check that the pool is available if you are expecting a swim.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very clean and in good order. Good shower and comfortable bed. There was a pleasant outdoor seating area and plenty of parking space and secure cycle parking. The grounds were nicely manicured and the abundant lavender buzzed with bees and smelt lovely
Cons: Hosts did not introduce themselves though they were welcoming enough. There are printed signs all over the place with instructions on what and what not to do to a degree which is over the top. We deliberately left the windows open (first floor) to dry some washing we’d done and came back from town to find them closed. There was a very slim chance of shower but no real reason to be concerned over the weather. Odd and a tad intrusive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly reception from Grant and Janet. We arrived with a broken bicycle gear cable which could of delayed us for several days. Grant very kindly gave us a cable of his from an old bike of his which we managed to fit. Nice spacious clean rooms overlooking the vineyards, and short ride into attractive Jarnac for food.

4.0 Okay
Pros: Accommodation was clean if a little 'tired'. It was quiet and very convenient for our route with semi secure parking for car and caravan. Decent restaurant around the corner which was open. Continental breakfast was good.
Cons: The room was okay with space for our dog in a little corner however..... The mattress on the bed was at the end of its life and we hardly slept it was so uncomfortable with the result that we started our long drive home the next day feeling very tired. So, value for money this place was not in room 18.
7.1 Good
Pros: Big rooms.
Cons: We had a lot of internal noise late at night.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Only good thing about it is location beside motorway
Cons: Room was smelly and damp, everything was so antiquated even the chrome had worn off the taps! There was no internet. Breakfast, take what you are given at a pre-arranged time. NO choice in either.

Cons: Breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location in a charming village, not too far from the motorway for a stop off. Very pleasant owners and a good restaurant. We had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the square and the castle.
7.5 Good
Pros: Interior
Cons: No lift
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, immediately opposite the castle in Jonzac, the family owned hotel offers you everything that you would want from a French hotel, Alex and the whole team are extremely friendly and accommodating and Alex speaks excellent English too. The hotel rooms are spacious and luxurious and the whole place is spotlessly clean throughout. The continental breakfast are really good with the pastries still warm from the bakery. The food is also excellent so even if you are not staying at the hotel, you must eat here but you need to book to avoid disappointment and the service is only 8pm to 9.30pm in the evening, although obviously it doesn't close that early. Would definitely recommend and we will stay there again if we are in the region
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very pretty, clean and comfortable.
Cons: A/c in our room was ineffective
9.2 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: warm welcome in a very nice cambre d'hotes. Very nice room overlooking the beautiful garden, good bathroom. We had a really lovely and memorable stay. Fond memories of talking to Jean and the other guests, the lovely (homemade) apperatives we had, the good diner and wine, the good breakfast, Jean showing us round the old distillery and garden with gorgeous over two hundred years old walnut tree. Jean speaks English and does his utmost best to explain everything. We had a great time and highly recommend Le Vieux Noyer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Although it was late at night when I got to the hotel the owner was at the door to welcome me and show me to my room which was very clean and spacious as was the bathroom and shower. I was given the option of what time I would like breakfast which was very good and there was more than enough. I stayed for two nights and could not fault anything a very comfortable and pleasant stay and the owner spoke good English and was very helpful. I would definitely stay again if in that area again. Peter
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Easy to find and spacious room.
Cons: The breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner of the property was extremely welcoming, helpful and very pleasant to talk to. We had a wonderful, unforgettable evening meal cooked by him and learned a lot about the area and the history of cognac and wine making- this added to the whole experience of our stay. We would love to make a return visit and would stay longer next time!
Cons: I wouldn't have changed anything - except that I hadn't fully appreciated that the owner only accepts cash or cheques. This was not a problem at all - I just wish I had been more organised!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jean, gave us a personel service, cooking dinner (as he is a fully qualifed chef) and joining as us at the table. Told us about the area, his family are 3rd generation, although now they don't produce Cognac any more, they still own the vast fields of vines, now least out. Great stay, with person touch.
Cons: We could'nt stay longer.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hôtel les Pins in Le Tatre, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of St. Mathias Church and Barbezieux Castle. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Place was clean and nicely decorated. And had everything we needed (apart from a hairdryer) The lady manning the place (assume owner?) was very helpful and we think possibly cooked us a meal when the restaurant was supposed to be closed. The location right next to a main road was ideal for travellers passing through (as we were). We chose this place as it was dog friendly and it was fine for us and our 3 dogs. Would definitely recommend for similar users.
Cons: No real issues. Room was fairly compact but adequate. Likewise for the shower. Otherwise everything was fine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Convenient. Easy to find. Dogs weclome. Very clean.
Cons: Dinner average. But only to be expected in a small fairly quiet motel. Left early, before breakfast
7.0 Good
Pros: all ok - nice owners
Cons: The directions/sat nav need updating. A new part of the RN10 passes the hotel with junction 72 beside it which is easier than old directions. A large earth bank in front of the hotel keeps road noise down. Le Tatre and old postcode take you to a farm some distance away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All very good ( location.)
Cons: Internet very poor TV to small
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, went the extra mile. Good breakfast. Clean rooms
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were made feel very welcome, there was safe parking provided and the dinner was excellent.
Cons: A walk in shower.
7.1 Good
Pros: For 130 euros it was a very very basic clean though
Cons: Just to basic for the money
6.5 Good
Pros: The character of the former mill with surrounding garden convenient location to explore Cognac area.
Cons: Too much noise during the night from passing traffic and from early hours from the staff quarters above iur room.Wines were expensive for not particularly good quality.
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: Restaurant, however, was excellent, you wouldn't think it could be the same business.
Cons: The room and general condition of the hotel was extremely poor, decor was well beyond repair - shower room had three different layers of wallpaper all falling off. You wouldn't think you could open the doors to the public

9.2 Excellent
Pros: It was in a beautiful environment! We loved the hotel!! A pool and the lake was just wonderful! Very good value for money! We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice family room and good breakfast. Beautiful countryside and an outdoor pool.
Cons: Pool had broken tiles around the edges that was a real concern for the children - it would be relatively easy to get a nasty cut - all the edges of the pool need re-doing. Hotel is well off the beaten track and neighbouring town was completely closed at 9-10pm when we walked in.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Really nice location of the beaten track easy parking
Cons: The property itself was nicely decorated and clean, the issue was at check out. I booked on this website for €230 euros for 1 night family of 4 suite, imagine my surprise when I was presented a bill of €390 ! We had been charged for breakfast which we didn’t have, drinks at the bar we didn’t drink, room taxes (even though this was included in the room rate confirmed in my booking, then an additional €40 euros because the suite was only for 2 people not 4 apparently, like I had booked! After a heated conversation this was eventually reduced to €280, I admit at this point I just admitted defeat at the complete rip off this place is. As we needed to get on the road Avoid
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Easy parking .
Cons: The unhelpful attitude of the staff. Spoke in French all of the time purporting not to understand our attempts at the language, except when we came to pay the bill , suddenly they could speak and understand perfectly well. No information anywhere about the hotel or places to visit. Ignored by staff at breakfast time, helpful to the french visitors. The food in restaurant very expensive and quite poor quality.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good - but then it should be for 15€. Being in the annex meant I could park right outside the room.
Cons: Restaurant was closed for renovation. This was not mentioned at time of booking and should have been. Shower ridiculously small. Room basic.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the bed was very comfortable.
Cons: The bedside lights, the desk light and most sockets didn't work. It was very difficult to plug in the hairdryer to the socket located horizontally above your head. The mixer tap for the shower didn't work. Breakfast was good but a financial 'ripoff' at 15€ each. Worst of all we selected this hotel as it had a restaurant and we wanted an easy night after a long day driving. On arrival we were told the restaurant was closed as there weren't any other guests!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Rooms extremely comfortable and warm on a chilly evening. Breakfast was very good. Only problem was the restaurant was closed for renovation; but the owners recommended a restaurant in a nearby village which was adequate for our needs.
Cons: As stated above the restaurant was closed and is not due to reopen until Spring. It would have been nice to know this before we arrived.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The setting and surrounds
Cons: Nothing of concern.
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff were lovely and the breakfast was fine, Dinner was nice but not brilliant. The room was very clean.
Cons: The whole hotel needs to be refreshed - it is very old fashioned and shabby. I tried to use the pool but it was dirty.

Pros: Owner recommended a good restaurant nearby.
Cons: A very disappointing experience. Owner didn't know we were coming despite booking over 2 hours earlier. Welcome non existent. All public areas and our room were tired and dirty. Barking neighbours dogs for most of the night. Breakfast very poor. No fresh orange juice, croissants arrived when we'd nearly finished. Owner wore the same dirty tee shirt that she wore the day before and couldn't even cook a decent poached egg!
