I booked this as a romantic night for my daughter and her partner. Due to it being Valentine's Day there wasn't any exceptions made for extended use of the pool area or common room. This was very disappointing for them. Air conditioning was substandard.
Shane and Pascaline, have been most welcoming and friendly. They clearly have an interest for their guests. We booked only minutes before we arrived at Zen Beach Retreat with not all our plans mapped out for what to do in Bargara/Bundaberg. Very quickly this was sorted by our hosts. We had a true Zen 3 days in the area and the retreat. Thank you family Emms.
I stayed here to get away from hustle of where I’m from. I’m writing a book and I was able to make much headway due to the serenity of this place . The hosts are fantastic people and we were able to form a really strong connection discussing all things art and life . This place is at is says a place to Zen ! This is the place to be if you have time To spend in Bundaberg .
I booked this for two nights of a larger trip, and given it was on the more expensive side, it supposed to be our treat. However, the accommodation was so different to what I had expected based on what’s published online. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed about any accommodation I have booked. The owners live on-site in a house that is beach front but the accommodation is NOT beachfront and actually backs onto a fairly well used road. You are encouraged to use the communal areas to relax, which do offer nice views, but if you are like us and like to relax in relative privacy then this fails to hit the spot. The unit had no couch to sit on and pretty poor and noisy air con in just the bedroom. We had hoped to spend two nights here just relaxing at the property and by the pool, but it was not the sort of place you could relax at all. There was a cockroach in the kitchen and a used razor in the bathroom. No explanation was given on what ‘retreat’ offerings were available at all, other than the magnesium pool, that also had no comfortable seating by it. It was more like an uncomfortable motel room and far from the quality retreat as marketed online. It was so over priced and we were so disappointed, we left a night early and moved on to our next location. The owner did refund us for the night we didn’t stay.
