Convenience, next to the train station. We were confirmed for a higher floor and was given the lowest floor with the rooms.
Very spacious room, with good bathroom products, including robes and slippers, excellent tea/coffee tray with many varieties of tea, attractively decorated room with good external blind system. Very good breakfast table, including prosecco! There was some noise from the tram station outside but this did not trouble us overnight.
Very close to train and tram station The beds are small
Considerable service to guests. No.
Everything was ok, excellent location (100 m. from cental railway station in Basel) , friendly staff, good and tasty breakfast, easy-to-use internet access.
We were expecting to check our bags and wait until check in time however your staff said we could use the room immediatly and we really appreciated this courtesy. We also had dinner with another couple and really enjoyed the dining room. Good experiance. All of our comments were positive
next to station dinner/breakfast very expensive; kingsize bed not of good quality
The location was great, the room was nice and quiet. I would definitely return here.
Breakfast Tram noise
Good value for money, the location was great, across the street from the train station and Bern is nice to see as well. Nothing, all was well
Very helpful reception staff
proximity to the station
Competent staff. Own car park. Valet parking. Very talented (lady) piano player in the lounge. Excellent central location.
It was very loud, bed was uncomfortable, food was not available and heating was not controllable
Proximity to railway station Tram noise
very comfortable hotel for both business and pleasure poor choice in breakfest buffet
nice rooms very noisy
Superb bathroom, excellent location. Walls are too thin, neighbouring rooms can easily be heard.
Lovely bathroom and extremely comfortable bed. Liked the 2 room concept.
It was convenient to the railroad station, the staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were good. The drain in the shower was very very slow. It took 1/2 hour to empty.
Location in centre and close to railroad and airport access bus.
Great experience. I liked the design in the rooms. The internet connection was good. Central location near the main train station. It was more than i expected for a hotel near the trains.
Very close to the station, gifts of ice candy coupon and tram ticket.
Nice rooms, ice and water/coke on the floor, LCD TV, Location is excellent @ Train Station, good breakfast with fried eggs available.
Staff were very helpful, breakfast was delicious, free mini bar with milk, soft drink, water and juice, free ticket for local transport, location next to Basel Station very convenient and room was very comfortable - what more can we ask for.
Close to main points of interest in the city, very friendly service, comfortable rooms
The welcome , the staff, the very well equiped rooms with quality furnishings and bedding, the little touches ( sugus on pillow, water and soda in ice cupboard }. And of course breakfast ! The WIFI should have been free. It is now a service that most hotels provide as part of room cost.
Modern, clean and in an excellent position.
Next to sbb train station.Four tram stops to the center of Basel(Marktplatz).Clean.quiet,recently renovated.Plus the free water and refreshments in the hall fridge.Good bathroom and shower.Good size of room Rather expensive. Average to poor breakfast.Average, monotonous room.Shortage of inspiration and fantasy.
good all round hotel
Everything worked well, and the pool was nice
Pool, sauna, gym.
Convenient for city centre and the business quarter. The front of the hotel was shrouded in scaffolding in early September 2010. The entry to the underground car park is narrow, and parking requires restricted manoeuvring of the car.
The Hotel was centrally located and the staff were very friendly and helpfull. N/A
location Pool The rooms are a bit small bad smell in room
Large quiet room.Large TV screen. Good airconditioning. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Presence of Spa en fittness center. No
Excellent, very helpful staff, very convenient location. A very pleasant stay overall.
the resturant was ok the size of the rooms to small with that kind of prices almost 900swis franc for two night
The staff and service were excellent. The hotel restaurant and breakfast were very good.
The room was clean and the linen did not have any holes or stains. The staff was friendly. The double rooms might be ideal for single business travellers. Under the heading "share a fart" the door to the bathroom was not only transparent but also sufficiently open so that sounds and smells could spread freely. - The heating/air-conditioning system was difficult to control and even the staff did not know how. There was no shampoo in the room, but only hair conditioner and no shoe cleaning service at all.
We liked the bath anemities, the extra line in the shower to hang towels & swimsuits to dry, and the staff were all friendly.
The friendliness of the staff from the front desk to the restaurant. Also the location was very good and handy for the city. The noise starting very early in the morning from deliveries being made and waking us up!
staff are very friendly. one of the few hotels inthe world where minibar is inlcluded in the hotel rate. very rich breakfast
cleanliness and customer service
This hotel was beautiful. The room was very comfortable, clean and, although very well priced, had lots of extra touches not found in other hotels. The hotel was extremely well located almost next to the main train station but there was no noise at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to assist us. The final touch was the exceptionally good breakfast. We recommend this hotel highly. Nothing.
The room was small, but clean. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was also good. Hotel was located the central station, so easy access to public transport For the price that we paid, I expected a bit more. But then again, Switzerland is very expensive in general. However, if I compare it to a hotel in Germany in which I have paid half of the amount for one night, the German hotel was a lot nicer. So, in my opinion no good value for the money.
Wifi LAN, shower, staff welcome
Outstanding service at reception, room & at breakfast. The best breakfast of the year plus free room drinks. Super. Ask for a back side comfort room. Front is noisy due to tram
Hotel Gotthard is a quiet and small hotel, steps from the SBB station. Breakfast is first rate. Rooms are tasteful and spotless. Price is what I expect to pay for the convenience and quality offered.
The Hotel is stainless. Everything tidy & clean....nice decor & furniture. The breakfast room was very stylish.
easy accessible only breakfast served. no possibility for Coffee / sandwish etc.
The location was great, just round the corner from the train station. The hotel was very nice. My bedroom was decorated very nicely, modern and comfortable. The breakfast room on the 8th floor had great views of the city, and I was very satisfied with the breakfast selection. The mobility ticket (included in the cost of the stay) was very useful. It would have been nice if the hotel had a restaurant, but as the hotel is quite small I suppose there is no space for this. The hotel was also quite expensive, though the rate was probably normal for a city centre hotel in Switzerland.
Convenient for the centre of Basel
Very easy access from the main train station and to the city center, quiet, nice view from the 8th floor during the breakfast. Disappointed by the fact that TV did not have dual language fonctionality. Increased fare due to congress taking place during that week so it didn't come to a great value for money for that matter.
Friendly reception. Possibility of smoking
it is in the central of the city nothing
Very convenient, clean, friendly and quiet. Breakfast overlooking the city a good start to the day. Lovely decor. Good TV choice.
good access to the train station and the tram stop; very clean and with nice interiors; courteous staff rates are steep compared to hotels with the same proximity to the train station, say, in geneva
Location, service and cleanliness of the room The centralised air conditioning did not appear to be working and when we asked Reception, they said there was no air conditioning and that we should open our windows.
The staff were brilliant, very helpful and always welcoming. The hotel was surprisingly quiet and the staff knew all the guests. You get a free pass for all the trams/buses in all the city zones and this is an unbelievable saving! Although this isn't in the middle of the old town, it's very close to the station and very very convienient. The trams are all maybe 100m away and you end up taking the tram everywhere! Cannot rate the staff highly enough. Only complaint was that I asked about breakfast and was told that they serve it, but no mention of cost. I thought it was included, but it wasn't, so the bill was higher than I expected, however, I partially blame myself for this!
Good central location, quiet (with the windows closed). One of the glasses in the bathroom had a white deposit in it, It had not been cleaned, although it was in a plastic bag. I was charged for breakfast for two persons for two mornings, whereas, in fact we only had breakfast on one morning, (the 7th April).
I liked the opportunity to use the bar in the sister Hotel Euler - a very nice glass of Furstenburg Wheat Beer!
It was close to the train station Hard to get into, you have to go throught the service area of another hotel to get in and out. Smoking rooms nearby vented into the room so it was like you were smoking yourself, not pleasant since we were non smoking guests. Very pricey for very basic accomodation
Location It should have been disclosed that there is no lift from 1st to 3rd floor and the stairs are steep
Most of the hotel staff were nice. When I had a complaint the manager was polite and listened. I was offered a room upgrade. The hotel is very convenient to the central railway station. Breakfast was good. The receptionist was rude and arrogant but changed her attitude after I complained. The room at the Hotel Central was very small and at 120 CHF per night seems overpriced to me.
Location, good breakfast. No lift available to the 2ed floor rooms where my room was.
Comfortable, near the main train station. Transportation is easy. Suitable for private stays.
The room was comfortable and decorated nicely. Yes! The non-smoking floor is above the smoking floor so all of the smoke from the floor below comes up through the bathroom on the the 3rd floor. All of the towels smelled like smoke. It was really disgusting.
The staff was very helpful and spoke excellent English. The bus to the airport was very convenient and they gave us a free bus pass. The hotel is only steps from the central train station. There was no elevator to the floor we stayed on and we had very heavy suitcases. We were also a bit concerned about egress in the event of a fire in the hotel.
the location is superb - 1 min walking from the sbb central station; 5 walking mins from the city center (=1 tram ride); the hotel provided a free transportation ticket, which includes all the transportation within the city - very useful! the breakfast was absolutely superb, taking into consideration that this is a 2 star hotel - the variety, the quality of products, the quantity. (but perhaps this is simply due to the breakfast being served at Euler, which is a 5 star hotel..); the shower was excellent and the room in general, for a one person, was big and comfy - as much as it can be. the lift only goes to 1st floor, and if your rooms are higher up, you'll have to use the stairs. generally, not a big deal - but when you have a huge luggage, like i did, and noone to help you, it's not a pleasant experience. in addition, the window opened only slightly. for me it wasn't a problem, as i traveled in cold weather (~15 celcius outside), but i imagine that in the summer this might present a problem..
The staff was professional, curteous, multi-lingual, and the front desk was always staffed. The hotel was amazingly generous with coffee, wine and snacks available throughout the day and evening. I also had free access to a computer and internet and a quiet place to settle in and work near the coffee, wine and snacks. A variety of international newspapers and magazines were available as well. Within just a few hundred yards I found the Marketplace, filled with shops, restaurants, and an art museum with an impressive collection of impressionist paintings (my favorite) was also just a 10 minute walk away. Did I mention there was free coffee, wine and snacks?
very central no tea or coffee facties, walking instrustion not very good take the 30 bus one stop
Well appointed, comfortable, quiet in the middle of the city, easy access to public transport, super friendly and helpful staff. A very relaxing, comfortably appointed garden for a complimentary drink and snack in the afternoon /early evening. I was not unhappy with anything. Great location, great staff!
it is in a convenient position, is clean & comfortable
Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and very clean, the location was very central, though walking back late at night alone is the only downside as it is not on a main and well lit road.
Very friendly staff, room was comfortable and clean with flatscreen tv and nespresso coffee machine. Free Wifi worked well, even in our room on the top floor. Breakfast was a nice buffet with lots of choice. There are free drinks in the lounge every day from 3pm. Great location as well, only 5 minutes walk from the lively town centre. Nothing really, we were very pleased.
it was clean and well positioned for both the town centre and the train station.
excellent staff the tv - it was set for all the chaneles (including Kosovo television) but not for any Romanian chanel. I just wondering how many inhabitants are in the small Kosovo?! In Romania there are >22.000.000
We will stay there again next next month.
friendly atmosphere good service
good staff, nice location, very comfortable hotel
we all were plesantly suprised very good indeed value for money staff could not do more for us people smoke in rooms although not allowed, breakfast could be more varied on the swiww theme
I found the staff very helpful and location of the hotel exelent. I was overall happy with having stayed,it was also value for money
the rooms were too small and least accessories
Comfortable, well located, clean and good value
Very clean and new Hotel Big room and excellent bedding I couldn't find fault wit it - I would highly recommend it Excellent value for money
Staff was very helpful. We had a reservation for a double. The hotel has no separate beds. My son and I had to sleep in the same bed. Outrageous.
We enjoyed that the hotel is located very close to the train station, and the tram network which runs every 10 or so minutes.
New hotel. Very good Ibis accommodation. Tram to an from the centre of Basle just outside the hotel. Free transport pass including the airport bus. No restaurant but snacks available.
Everythings' great, new hotel, clean room and bathroom, helpful staff, close to train station and city centre, good price. Happy to stay at Ibis
Location is convenient and close to the main train station. Very cramped up bathroom. It was more of a cubicle than a bathroom. Hotel could not provide parking as it was all occupied. We had trouble finding one which was away.
Good restaurant Nice staff Small rooms Felt cheap
Friendly manager. Responded well to little issues with room A couple of little issues with the room e.g. lamps not working, but otherwise very good
Location very convenient near the main station No wifi in the room, no staff to check-in at 8pm, I have been checked in by the bar waiter.
The staff at Hotel Helvetia were excellent. They were incredibly friendly and very accommodating to all of our requests.
Hotel staff was really excellent, I enjoyed the restaurant and it was easy to go everywhere in the city from there. Everything was great.
very good location (just few minutes from the main train station). We received two unlimited daily bus/tram tickets which were wonderful and helped us a lot to explore the whole city very quickly. the room was big and clean. We could not sleep because of too much noise from station, a huge drill which was working continuously the whole night in the neighbourhood, and young people passing the street next to the hotel. We paid 10 EUR for the (cable) internet which finally did not work. All the electricity cables were of another shape and we could only charge our laptop for 2 hours in the morning when finally the reception desk could find a convertor that fitted the internatinal systems. The breakfast was very limitted in variety.
