Staff was so helpful and friendly. Room was clean and very comfortable. Close to everything .. Walkable downtown .
The hotel was perfect for our needs. We had a group of friends in 3 rooms going to the Casino, Firekeepers. We enjoyed the pool. The staff were friendly and professional. I called to inquired about adding the casino package (valet, shuttle and breakfast) to our reservation , and was told that we could do so at check in. When we checked in, we were not able to do so, but our friends who checked in shortly after us were able to. Confusing... The restaurant in the hotel was very understaffed at breakfast on a Sunday morning. The servers were very polite and were working very hard.
Almost nothing - overpriced. Also, booking.com failed to send our reservations to the proper fax number - so when we got to the hotel, they did not have our reservations (sent in april for a stay in July!!) 1. Breakfast buffet at j Barleycorn's was the worst buffet we have ever had. 2. Our room was not made up the first full day of our stay, even though we were gone most of that day. 3. Could not get cold water out of our bathroom sink. 4. The tv remote did not work. 5. Air conditioner made an ungodly noise all night. 6. No valet parking service on sunday. 7. No sunday paper in the hotel.
Hotel is a bit run down, but I was just staying for one night and could put up with run down so long as clean. The minute we entered the hall way of the 6th floor where we stayed, we couldn't get past the musty chemical smell. We arrived late, and were leaving for another engagement so didn't really have time to change our plans. Room was adequate but had the same smell. If it weren't for the smell wouldn't have been too bad. They also meessed up my reservation, had requested a king bed but got two queen bed room instead. Again, we were in a bit of a hurry so didn't tell front desk as it wasn't a huge deal. On positive note, the staff was very nice, On website of hotel, mentions that they have a shuttle service to the casino. The day we were there, there was no shuttle service so we took a cab to casino. $15 cab ride, so not that big of deal.
Hotel was clean, comfortable, staff was very pleasant and accomidating very poor buffet, eggs and bacon, hashbrowns and juice or coffee
House cleaning staff was awesome!! Access to the Kellogg Arena was exceptional. Did not like the way my family was treated at the restaurant inside the hotel. The staff was unorganized and unfriendly. Also, did not like the security guards in the pool area.
Close walking distance to family members living in area There was a smell every time we came out of the lift and sometimes in the room. There was an oil spill in the area recently so we can only presume some of the guests were working on the clean-up and carried in the oil on their boots/clothes
Our valet named nate was a great help and a great kid. I put in for ajoining rooms over two months ago,the called a couple of days to check on the ajoining rooms was told everything was all set. When we got to our rooms they weren't.I called front desk and they said there was nothing they could do for me.Very poor job.
we were really impressed with our stay. very quiet. we liked the idea of being right down town and so close to everything. any time we are coming to battle creek this will be our first choice to book. thanks for being so nice. no complaints about anything
Comfy and economical No
walking distance to resturants, because they have only one the bottom of the bed was broken, not enough pillows no blankets, had to pay for shuttle to casino
Most everything was fine. I've stayed here many times when visiting family in Battle Creek. The valet parking is fine, the rooms are okay, and I usually have few complaints. BUT - the noise can be really bad during large events at the attached convention center. Idiot midwestern families occupying multiple rooms seem to like to shout down the hallways as if they were in their own home instead of a shared facility. The worst, though, is that the staff apparently don't bother to reprogram the alarm clocks on the nightstands between guests. Cue me getting woken up out of a deep sleep at 5 a.m., having to yank the damn clock out of the wall to get it to shut up, and never getting back to sleep. UNACCEPTABLE.
Location for the event we were attend. Don't think the air conditioning was on in the public areas, after showering I didn't want to set in the warm area to eat breakfast. Had a small problem with a panhandler.
Rented a Jacuzzi suite with king bed. Front desk people were very kind. Room was nice and clean. There was no trouble at all getting service during the day. Room was quite spacious, had a microwave, a very large refrigerator with separate freezer compartment. The breakfast area is very small but has all the basics. The beds in this hotel are very soft and comfortable, and the sheets nice and warm even when I turn the A/C on to 68 with constant fan. Service ground to a halt at night with only one person on staff. Any extra pillows or towels needed to be picked up and could not be delivered due to lack of personnel. The Jacuzzi in the suite was small and only could really fit one person, and it leaked. After use, the carpet around the jacuzzi was drenched and sopping wet for about two feet. The fitness room was very small and only had three machines crammed in without much room to get between them, the hotel pool was murky/cloudy. The iron in the room did not work when I attempted to iron a shirt. The power light simply didn't even go on when plugged in. The coffee pot was dirty in the water reservoir area. There were plenty of loud noises at 1:30am during the week (I rented from Tues-Sat) including banging, running up and down the hall, and what sounded like jumping off the bed on the second floor above me. The environment that the hotel is in can be described as 'shady'. Not a bad neighborhood, but not a very nice one either. Someone in a white car parked next to mine at some point during the night attempted to back out and took out my left rear quarter panel, taking a gouge out of it and leaving a nice foot and a half long white scrape. There are no cameras on the parking lot, just the entry door. If you have a nice car, beware here. I wouldn't leave anything of value in the car. Definitely feels "downtown" in the hood. All in all though, with considering the price for the amenities, it was a good value.
Dont be fooled by the cheap price, nothing was included that was advertised (hair dryer, coffee pot, free HBO, etc). Doesnt look like the pictures. There was no screens in the windows, so couldnt open them (abundant amount of bugs) even though our AC was broke and only the heater worked and wouldnt shut off. There was nobody at the desk from 6/7pm on through the night. There was no one to call when the entire floor was woken by someone pounding on a door from 12am to 1:30am. Shower was gross, didnt use it. We brushed our teeth with bottled water. This place completely grossed me out. Carpet was ripped up and we had a tiny 15 inch tv, in which half of the channels (the ones we were supposed to receive, the basic ones) actually worked. They workers that checked me in, never asked for my drivers license or credit card to verify who I was. I am never going to stay in this place ever again.
The pricing was the only positive for this facility Entering the lobby your nose is insulted by unpleasant odors. There is a strong physical need for cleaning and maintenance in all public spaces, due to the lack of cleanliness, I refused to have the continental breakfast supplied. Place needs work.
this hotel is now under new management since last june , so everything has changed , i stayed there this year compare to last year , i couldnt even tell thats it was the same hotel , because the whole hotel is newly renovated and rooms and the new carpets and friendly staff, i mean everything has changed in this hotel , i really recommed staying at this hotel, dont bother reading the other people comments because its from last year and that was when the previous owner had the hotel but not its completly different , the looks and everything , i enjoyed my stay , t
Nothing Everything. The room was not what I reserved. I found a dead flea on a towel that was still hanging in our room. They were not pet friendly we ended up being charged for our tiny dog. There was hair under our sheets. It was really disgusting.
\nWe arrived late in the evening. The staff was asleep. Fair enough. However, they had nothing prepared either. It was as if we'd just showed up without notice. You can feel the coils in the bed. The lights didn't all work. The heating is awful. As a FINAL kicker our morning wake up call wasn't. It was however relatively inexpensive. Having said that I'd have rather saved the $10 and stayed at one of the other badly rated hotels in town.
Nothing No breakfast like stated when I reserved the room, hotel was falling apart due to poor maintence
Large size room, bed really comfy and lots of pillows. It was very close to the Amtrak Station and the price was good. The heater wasn't turned on when I arrived in the room, there wasn't any place to hang clothing.
It wasn't the hotel I'd stayed in the night prior...it's likely that this is skewing my perception a little No, it was just what the doctor ordered.
We didn't like the poor staff cooperation and service. As well as the bed bug bites!
The staff was nice Suppose to be a continental breakfast but, at 6:30 am that staff was sleeping and no breakfast was available. The bed was leaning and sagged in the middle and struggled all night to stay on the bed and not fall off.
Nothing. The bed sheets were not cleaned from the person who was in the room prior to me.
The staff was curteous. No internet at the hotel. My truck was vandalized and some one stole a suitcase I had in the back.
