9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet. We had 2 large bedrooms that would have accommodated 4 people (There were 2 of us). Very tastefully decorated and comfortable. We had a private breakfast room where breakfast quietly and magically appeared every morning.
Cons: A bit isolated. We had a big, private breakfast room but house rules did not permit us to use it for "picnic". In fairness, there are 2 outdoor tables available, but the weather was not great while we were there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: SUPERB in every detail. The Welcome, the location, the accommodation, the breakfast - all absolutely delightful. Fastidious attention to detail makes this unsurpassable if you are looking for a quiet relaxing stay, and with excellent access to Angers (only minutes away) offers everything one could want.
Cons: Nothing could have been better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms, pleaceful and quiet, well situated for Angers and the loire valley. Lovely breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was lovely. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the décor was lovely. The breakfast was fantastic. The hosts were helpful and very friendly and gave us somewhere to keep our bikes safe. We took a scenic bike ride to the local creperie. Highly recommended.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was just OTT, we had more choices than I needed, with nuts, cereal, croissants, bread, cheese and fruit. We booked here because it was on the way elsewhere, it is a little out of the way, but makes up for it with great facilities and a fantastic breakfast.
Cons: We were here during a heat wave and it was hot, AC is probably going to be required next year as the world heats more
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely accommodation, very comfortable, very amiable host
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable. We had plenty of rooms to put our bags and there would have been the possibility to have a family of 4 with separate bedrooms. The bathroom had a superb bath. It was great, the breakfast was amazing and different every day we stay. Such a quiet place!
Cons: Nothing

Great room, quiet, clean, in a great location just 2 minutes walking from the train station, and 15 from the city center. Also 2 minutes from a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays on Place Lafayette. Thomas gave us all the info that we wanted, and prepared a delicious breakfast every morning. We were lucky to meet him!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Thomas was very friendly and helpful and went out of his way to make us welcome. His recommendation for restaurant was spot on - Bistrot des Ducs - in the centre of the city, booking necessary. The room was very clean with great attention to detail, and decorated to a high standard. breakfast was good.
Cons: No parking. We had to leave our heavily-laden car in a side street, surrounded by a large number of people who were permanently drunk and very rowdy and noisy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room with a view of the garden and very comfortable bed. Great breakfast selection and very helpful host. We borrowed bikes and had a lovely ride along the banks of the river.
Cons: Nothing, everything excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old town house with only two rooms being let. The host was very friendly and took excellent care of us, and the location so close to the train station could not have been better. Nowadays it's difficult to find breakfast included but he really set up a feast for us in a charming breakfast room with big old cabinets filled with travel memories from Kenya and the south of France. Big and spacious bed and all amenities.

Pros: A charming rustic oasis in the middle of the modern neighborhood, a farm house with a green yard with trees, surrounded by a city life. Very nice breakfast and an upstairs room; very hospitable host eager to help, who gave us tips on local restaurants and attractions. Just a few tram stops from the city center.
Cons: Cannot think of anything. Room is pretty small but has everything needed. Toilet separate from the bathroom, which is nice! Older furnishings add character to the room.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast excellent. Location out of the way but not too difficult to find.Unusual venue but very interesting as it was part of an old Chateau.
Cons: We liked it although it was not the usual accommodation and it was not completely restored but it was a charming experience and our host was very helpful and welcoming.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The property is in a quiet position, accessable by a narrow road over a dike along the floodplains of Loire, but certainly not within walking distance of Les Ponts-de-Cé . It is very safe with access and egress by a lockable gate. It has nice gardens with comfortable furniture. The hardworking landlady is absolutely lovely and made us feel very welcome. She told us about all the work they had done since buying the chateau and their plans for future development of the various outbuildings. Our bedroom was beautiful and the aircon worked a treat. The breakfasts and the evening meals were lovely and so was the choice of wines on offer.
Cons: Only a small point, but I didn't like the peacocks freely roaming about the place and the noise they made.

Pros: This retirement complex just outside Angers is only a couple of years old and offers superb accommodation and facilities. The place was immaculately clean and very welcoming. Our apartment was on the ground floor and had a private terrace with seating. We had a large double bedroom and a lovely sitting room with a kitchenette and dining area. The place is very quiet and well run. We had breakfast one morning in the cafe and it was good. You can book in for lunch and/or dinner but we preferred to make our own meals. The small gym is free and has a treadmill running machine, a static bike and another bike-like machine. All very clean. The pool is good too and available 8am to 8pm. There is free underground parking. We walked to Terra Botanica and had a fantastic day there - highly recommended a visit.

Pros: Great renovation job on this old property. Beds very comfortable.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, great views and comfortable rooms.
Cons: Everything was great.
7.0 Good
Pros: Fantastic location, great views, very modern room.
Cons: The shower head fixing was broken which meant that it was almost impossible to get a shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful owners. Easy to check in and check out. Excellent location. Very spacious, tidy and comfortable room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was very good. The room spotless. The staff very helpful. Room had good A/C which was quiet in operation. The room had a kettle with tea and coffee.
Cons: It was disappointing to discover that the restaurant was closed on a Monday (which was the night I stayed), I only spotted this after the confirmation email. However, there was a very good restaurant (Le Bosquet) which was around 25 minutes walk away - the walk was very pleasant. Breakfast at EUR14.50 each was over priced with the usual minimal continental offerings.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything was mostly grate, the staff at the reception was extremely kind and welcoming. The place is stunning and we had a great stay. Clean and comfortable, hight security system.
Cons: The staff serving breakfast wasn’t the kindest, it didn’t seemed they had their best morning... one of the girl was pretty rude to the guests.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice location on a quiet island outside of Angers. Great for the price.
6.8 Good
Pros: OK for overnight stay.
Cons: Don't be fooled by the photo of the lovely building in the advert. That is just the restaurant. You will be staying in an annex that is more like a motor lodge and the secure parking is a fenced off piece of land with an electric gate.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The view from both windows over the Loire River. The room was fantastic and the restaurant top class.
Cons: The parking cost 10€ but our booking suggested it would be free.
6.3 Good
Pros: The setting is perfect. The hotel is just on the Loire bank.
Cons: The rooms we were given were not in the main building, but in a new building. The view from the room was not as mentioned in the room description. However, the rooms in the ground floor have a small but nice terrace. Moreover, one of the rooms was for disabled people which I don't think it is fair since we did not need the facilities. I also think they are a little bit sarcastic since the disabled room was no.13... We asked to be moved but they were not very friendly..
Hôtel 21 Foch - Angers - Bedroom

9.0 Excellent (252 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hôtel 21 Foch places you in the heart of Angers, within a 10-minute walk of Musee des Beaux-Arts and Angers Cathedral. Featured amenities include express check-in, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super comfortable bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The gentlemen managing and servicing us was fantastic and super helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Laid back, well located, great breakfast, quiet, well appointed room.
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: The exterior is a traditional townhouse, the interior modern in a slightly eccentric style, with lots of interesting art. The room was simply furnished with a very comfortable bed and a clean modern shower room. Our room was on the back and extremely quiet -- it may be different on the street side.
Cons: It was rather odd that as a hotel there was no access without a key, and no public areas. For instance, we had arranged in advance to meet friends 'at our hotel', so we had to sit at a bar on the street to look out for them as they could not even have come into the lobby. I would say it is more B and B than hotel. But the main problem was the lack of parking. ' public parking nearby, no reservation required' is not helpful. The nearest car park, several minutes walk away, is not signposted, even at its entrance if you are able to find it. From the hotel it is the wrong way down a one way street, and is quite likely to be full. We managed to park a tram ride away, but the experience was almost enough to spoil our visit.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff consists of one person front of house, who also does the breakfast service. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Breakfast was very good. Superb bread and pastries and local cheeses. Parking is 100m away in Rue Bressigny and cost us less than 6 Euros for 2 nights. The Hotel has restaurant that looked very good, but seems a bit pricey for what we wanted at that point. Weather very hot when we were there, but the air conditioning coped very effectively and quietly.
Cons: Room Window full height directly onto street, and without nets, is a bit of a goldfish bowl. So remember before you wander out of the bathroom au naturel. Cold tap, tended to be hot. Aside from the hotel's own restaurant there did not seem to be any decent restaurants in the area. Plan ahead.
7.0 Good
Pros: The rooms are newly renovated and decorated in an attractive, eclectic way and are very clean.
Cons: Future guests beware of the following: 1) no one at reception except between 8 and 11am and 3 and 8pm--make sure you email or call the hotel if you're checking in outside this window 2) a very busy person attending to breakfast and reception at the same time, likely to lead to very slow service in both places 3) non-air conditioned hallways 4) no soap on the sink 5) bedside tables that resemble stools rather than bedside tables 6) no place to unload a vehicle in front of the hotel 7) no guarantee that there will be anyone at reception to help you even during the reception hours 8) noise coming from the restaurant below until at least midnight 9) no dedicated concierge service This hotel has the potential to be truly excellent as many other reviews contend, but the lack of staff for 24/7 desk service and the restaurant make it sure to experience disgruntled guests in the future. Even 2-star hotels have someone at reception for 24 hours. If not, staff make sure that they establish contact with guests beforehand, something that did not happen for our stay. If you elect to stay at this hotel, MAKE SURE TO EMAIL OR PHONE THE HOTEL TO ARRANGE YOUR ARRIVAL IN CASE YOU ARE UNABLE TO ARRIVE DURING THE RECEPTION HOURS .

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: All
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owner (and the whole family), excellent dinners. A very quiet location, yet accessible on foot from the university campus. A very nice garden.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet, peaceful clean. Very nice owner, kind and hospotable. Breakfast needs a little improvment.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast and memorable supper with produce freshly picked from the garden.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were INCREDIBLE!!! Simple, but just-baked croissants paired with homemade jams and homegrown fruit and great coffee - could not be better! Staff incredibly nice, accomodating and helpful, too - I will not hesitate to recommend La Haye to friends, and if I am ever in that part of France again, I will stay there again!
Cons: There were no restaurants that were easy to find for dinner! Also, we had a very hard time finding the property - maybe that was because we were Americans in France, but the driveway and signage could certainly be improved. Once we got there, it was awesome, though, and worth the hassle.

Pros: Comfortable room. Great location.

Pros: I liked the decor!
Cons: It was a bit further from the train station than we originally thought. We had to walk there at 5:40 AM when it was still dark out. There are no Uber’s or cabs in Angers so just a major heads up there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are to a high standard. Location is excellent... just a few steps away from Ralliement, the central hub of the city.. large selection of cafes and restaurants catering to the size of your wallet. Staff at the hotel is excellent and will go overboard to make you feel welcome! Beds are very comfy and breakfast is fantastic! Continental but high quality... coffee is excellent! Cannot think of a better place! Will be back...!!!!
Cons: NA
7.5 Good
Pros: Great Location
Cons: BEWARE if you have a car with low ground clearance. The entrance has a dip as you enter with a raised metal locating plate for the gate in the center of the entrance. OF YOU HAVE A SPORTS CAR YOU WILL HIT IT. One of our party broke the lower front panel front trying into the secure parking. They couldn't access the car park and had to leave the car on the street where overnight it got keyed all the way round. Hotel needs to provide a solution (e.g. simple temporary wooden ramp to avoid dip in road would work)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful friendly welcome
Cons: Absolutely nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Modern, nice room with all amenities. Location in the heart of Angers. 3 Min. walking distance to central pace and old city. 10 min. walking distance to Castle. Quite location. Secure private parking. Friendly, helpful staff. Would come again if in Angers.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish room / bathroom / hotel. Central location and parking availability at reasonable cost. Free WiFi. Super quiet neighbourhood. Very clean
Cons: Breakfast was ok but not amazing. Suggestion to get rid of small packaging - not ecological. Same goes for bathroom soaps. Ok to have no airco but a fan would help during these hot days...
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great - quiet but in the middle of things. Beautiful building, good breakfast and very helpful staff.
Cons: No facilities for tea/ coffee in room and no bar / room service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff Speaking English for us was so appreciated. Breakfast was very good. Gracious staff held a phone charger we forgot on a previous stay and we were grateful we could retrieve it!

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room is one of the best. Clean, tidy, well equipped. Cannot fault it at all. Lovely clean bedding. Warm. Modern.
Cons: We got the manager to phone us a taxi. He did and we where charged 20 euros for a 4 minute trip. The driver got aggressive in his dirty taxi when we refused to pay but we ended up paying to avoid trouble. The same company took us back later and charged 7.90. We told the manager of the hotel. He rang the company but was a half hearted call and nothing came of it. Avoid asking for a taxi. It's also a 50 euro return trip to the centre. Also if you arrive late and want a drink the bar is poor and expensive. No snack machine either. Also the breakfast was annihilated when we went down. We had to make do with scraps. Dont go down late.

Pros: No comments
Cons: The receptionist who we asked to book an extra night which he assured us for the same price. The next day he phoned us up mid day and asked us why our luggage was still in room and told us to get back to vacate our rooms. When we got back he admitted he made a mistake and told us we couldn’t stay which totally messed up our stay and booked us into a cheap triple room down the road which we would have never even looked at which he didn’t even offer to pay for , his mistake

Cons: Not well signposted

Pros: The breakfasts were superb, and free wine with the evening meal, which I would add is not like a normal hotel. Sisters of the church everywhere.
Cons: Fabulous place with a lot of history well worth the Euros spent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hostellerie Bon Pasteur is in an ideal location in Angers, just over the bridge from the chateau. It is easy to find and there is plenty of free parking. Both receptionists we saw spoke English and were polite and efficient. Our room was light and spacious with a big shuttered window. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom also had a large window and a good shower. Our room was spotlessly clean and maintained to a high standard. The breakfast was simple but very good. We enjoyed being 'directed' by a lady who is a member of the community there. There is a lovely feeling of absolute peace and tranquillity at the hostellerie.

Cons: It was very hot when we arrived, 38 oC outside and just as much inside the room. No aircon or fans. Fortunately it cooled down overnight and we could sleep with the windows open. We feel they need to adjust the heat coming up the corridor to reduce the overall temperature in summer.

Pros: A beautiful setting and house. A traditional French Château furnished with antiques. Very welcoming friendly hosts. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: We liked everything but thought it was a bit overpriced for B&B. The downside is the nearest restaurants are quite a drive away. They would do well to provide a simple evening meal.

Pros: The 800 year old cluster of farm and chapel buildings brings you on a wonderful journey through time. The rooms are spacious and meticulously decorated in period style. The owner’s hospitality is warm, welcoming and friendly, taking great pride in their fireside breakfast, and amazing herbaceous gardens, and cobbled courtyards. Manoir du Bois de Grez provided the exceptional rural french experience we were seeking - highly recommended for a weekend escape.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning property in a charming little French village. The gardens are beautiful and extensive with a small lake and surrounded by fields. We stayed with our dog so it was ideal. The owners, Marie Laure and Gael are very friendly and welcoming. We had a very spacious room with French doors that opened directly out on to the garden. The bed was very comfortable and the room had lots of thoughtful touches including fresh fruit, water, fluffy bathrobes and tea and coffee making facilities. Continental breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, muesli, cheese and fresh bread and croissants. There are several restaurants nearby where you can eat by the river, including L’Ecluse, a former lock keepers cottage which sadly was closed the evening we stayed but looked fab
Cons: Nothing

7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful rural location. Stylish chateau style large country mansion. Potentionally a smart accommodation. The view from our bedroom was magnificent. Madame the proprietor was welcoming.
Cons: This property has been neglected. It is in the process of being smartened up, but we felt we were in the middle of the owners' renovations. The only public area (hallway) had curtain samples and plans strewn about and the decorations throughout were tired or vestigial one coat painted. Unfortunately more shabby than chique. The bedroom had a kettle with too short a lead, elderly tea bags and no coffee at all. Better not to have had anything. The curtains joined up extensions to make them fit. The owner whilst charming , was seemingly under pressure and at our visit, distracted by other matters.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hospitality from the owner. Nice remote location with horses.
Cons: The outside of the building needs a bit of maintenance and the breakfast was very much European; (coffee with croissant)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the fact that this property was off the beaten track and so peaceful and quiet. With the roadworks going on in the village it was rather challenging to find the location though. Great hospitality and the hostess went out of her way to recommend noteworthy sites to visit. I would recommend this accommodation
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Unique experience of the truly old and big house, and location. Nice owner.
Cons: The bed was really uncomfortable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, friendly host , but spoke no English, which made everything a bit difficult Simple but heathy breakfast
Cons: Nothing we didn’t like but having been to a much grander chateau a week before, it was still lovely to be surrounded by such history No coffee facilities in your room is unusual today but our host kindly refrigerated our perishable food
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place, absolute silence, wonderful nature, great service, delicious breakfast, a place full of history. I highly recommend.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The lovely welcome and interesting chats with Mme Therese - all in French! - made this an exceptional couple of days. The chateau was charming, very relaxed and in lovely quiet countryside, but with interesting places nearby to visit. Typical French breakfast was a pleasure.
Cons: Restaurant for dinner was a little far away at 12 km and with so many new roads, be careful if (like us) you have an aging sat nav!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was most friendly and laid on a lovely breakfast!

Pros: Location was good. Room spacious with plenty of storage. Bed comfortable but pillows a little lumpy.

7.5 Good
Pros: Staff excellent. All were friendly. But one in particular helped us by phoning a vet in Quimper to make an appointment for our dog’s tapeworm tablet for his PetPassport. Pet friendly hotel. Good location. Felt safe walking back to the hotel at night.
Cons: Air-con kept going off during the night. I had to get up 3 times to turn it back on. Breakfast was expensive for a vegetarian.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a four night stay in which we dined in three evenings. We are not meat eaters but will eat fish but as the weekly menu choice was very limited the waitress (Jade) suggested some alternatives that she could offer to the chef, who was happy to oblige. So please pass our thanks to both for a splendid service. Bedroom was very comfortable. Breakfasts very good and plentiful. The hot water flow to the wash basin was very slow wasting a lot of water before the hot came through!! Superb Hotel very central and within easy reach of the rail station and shops.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location near all attractions and main shopping areas. Very comfy room (upgraded to a deluxe one for a very little extra, but it worths it). Great staff, very friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great to get straight to the heart of Angers, right across the road from the hotel. To the right was a lovely park and restaurant/bar/fountain. Only 10 min walk from the train station. Bars, cafes and bakeries all along the boulevard. We were not aware that the French shops close on Sundays, so it was very quiet in town that day, but a local antiques market was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The room was very nice. We could have done with a little fridge in the room to keep cold water. But no complaints generally. We could also use the garage to store our bikes for a couple of days. Easy access to the Velo a Loire bike trail - there is a turning near the solar panel farm on the left off the D952 once out of Angers, pull the little barge to the other side of the river to get back onto the trail towards Saumur. Very good hotel!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel, convenient location to the train station, and they offer a wonderful breakfast.
Cons: Nothing

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Nice rooms. Clean.
Cons: Staff could have been more helpful. Despite what is announced, there is no parking near. We got there by car and there isn't a bay to unload pax or baggage., had to do it in the curb or sidewalk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The best breakfast, included in our very reasonable room rate, we’ve experienced at a four-star chain. A variety of fresh bread Ioaves including quinoa bread (never tried that before) several kinds of sweet loaves like lemon cake and marble cake, mini-croissants and pain at chocolat, and large Madeleines sitting in their baking pan. Now for the fruit and protein: scrambled eggs, sausages and an odd-looking bacon we didn’t try, three kinds of cheeses and interesting cold cuts, whole kiwis, a variety of apples and oranges with an available, electric juicer. Good coffee machines with lots of choices and separate pots of coffee and warm milk on hot plates, a variety of good teas, and flat and sparkling bottled water. My favorite item: the individual containers you fill with your choice of jams or jellies. Why? They’re edible! Seriously. Think ice cream cone (the cone part)—very clever. Their restaurant serves excellent food with a nice variety of wines at good prices, and by the small and half-liter carafes. We liked the red Coustieres de Nimes.
Cons: The tiny shower you could barely move in. Also, quite oddly, the hotel’s own description on trip advisor, presumably written or approved by the hotel, says it’s opposite Jardin des Plantes. It’s not. That’s the OTHER Mercure hotel. You want the more centrally located hotel near the train station—Mercure Angers Centre Gare where we stayed on Boulevard Foch. It’s a great walk to the chateau aka fortress and cathedral and museums. (No doubt the other hotel is fine and being close to the beautiful garden is a plus.)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location in the old city. Not as close to the station as the name suggested, but the frequent trams stops right outside and it is only two stops from/to the train station.
6.8 Good
Pros: Average room, clean,on a main street, very, very noisy when opening the windows, ok with closed windows.Black out curtains, above average breakfast with good bread and cheeses, very average pastries, fresh orange juice but machine broke down on second day.A tram station is just in front of the hotel, lots of restaurants, museum, cathedral and castle within walking distance, lots of shops nearby.Wi fi working fine.A nice restaurant (Joe Carpa) adjacent to the hotel is open also Sat/Sun.
Cons: very basic amenities in the bathroom (only soap), no minibar in the room, impossible to sleep with open windows because of the noise, should replace towels, carpets stained both in the room and very much so on the halls, thin walls.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: rooms clean, location good, staff nice.
Cons: no parking facilities. Breakfast surcharge.
9.3 Excellent
