9.5 Excellent
Pros: Olivenfontein is a fantastic private game reserve. The managing couple, Jennifer & Johan, and their stuff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The rented house was spacious, clean and with direct view of the reserve incl. the watering hole. We had excellent bush drives with Johan who knows the reserve very well, as well as a bush walk on our own. In the evening we did enjoy a fire in the central braai place under a stunning sky full of stars. Please note: the reserve is self-catering, so bring your own food, drinks, everything. There are shops in Vaalwater and Modimolle. Firewood to braai can be bought from the reserve. YOu'll have two different roads to drive to the reserve. The one recommended by the hosts should be doable with a normal sedan. For the one Google Maps suggests, a SUV-type car with high clearance is the better option.
