The hotel was very quaint. The breakfast buffet was very European and the dining room was beautiful. As other guest stated, there floors are squeaky. It didn't bother us, we expected that in an old hotel.
Central position, clean, tidy. Would use again.
Great location, excellent breakfast, attentive staff (especially the dining staff)
The location Poor room, claustrophobic, poorly equipped misleading description - city view?? 12foot wide street with no view. Not 4 star or 3 star. Quality of breakfast, cheap ingredients
The location is wonderful and our room had an excellent view of the castle and river. The dining room is very attractive and the food was superb.
An exceptionally well presented chocolat chaud chantilly with extras, served in the bar, after a long and tiring journey. Delicious! Called in again for the coffee version on the return trip. Excellent breakfast. No.
location was good the bathroom facilities could do with updating.
Nice hotel. Well situated. Nice room. Staff a bit surly - not many smiles!
We picked the hotel for its location. And it turned out to be a nice room and friendly staff.
The location is excellent, but the rooms are too small and badly shaped, albeit with an excellent view over the river. The mattress was appalling. The Gourmet dinner was below average
Excellent helpful, friendly and welcoming staff. Superb room, facilities and views.Wonderful sun terrace.Beautifully presented food.French speaking but good english spoken and understood.
Everthing - Food was especially good
We had an executive room which overlooked the town of Bouillon and had magnificent views of the castle and river. The room was large, spacious and comfortable although we were expecting a double bed but had 2 twin beds pushed together instead. The staff were very friendly and the buffet breakfast was very satisfying with plenty of choice. The restaurant was excellent and the food delicious. We would definitely stay here again. Nothing
Hotel run by owner who was very friendly. Excellent cuisine. Could not be more helpful when we had any problems.
staff, restaurant, view
Good view and lovely spacious room Parking not too good
hotel was in nice location overlooking river and surrounding countryside, bit a walk to hotel from town due to elevated position but nothing that was a real problem, got the heart going, all in all a nice hotel, lovely room and nice friendly staff
Rooms were quite basic but the restaurant and sitting areas including a fabulous balcony were great. The food was particularly excellent and I would recommend anyone to go half board and experience the exquisite dinner. Breakfast was also very good. Staff were pleasant and helpful and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a peaceful stay. Would prefer a duvet on bed instead of blankets.
The view from our large room was spectacular! The bar was very hip and cozy. You don't know what you don't have, but looking at the other floors, I sensed that we were in the un-remodeled section. The carpet was old and stained, and the room could use a makeover--but the view made up for that! Only other complaint is that I ordered hot chocolate and got hot milk and dry mix envelope. I didn't even bother drinking it.
Excellent service from staff. A lovely room. And a top of the bill restaurant. Really enjoyed the meals. Can't point my finger a anything. Well done !
Good cuisine. Very nice modern room - very clean. Family-run with everyone keen to please. Slightly overcrowded facilities at breakfast.
Location of hotel, quality of room and view from room (room 304) if not on demi pension rate the 3 fixed priced menus did not alter from day to day
good value/efficient/ excellent meals long walk to room!
pleasant location, good food
The hotel had a nice view of the downtown and castle. A few feet down the road there are steps that take you to the main road. The room size was sufficient with a very clean bathroom and toilet. There was enough room for an extra bed for our 6yr-old. The breakfast was great. Alot of options and plenty. Oh, the owners spoke English. It was suppose to have wifi but not during our stay. Broken they said. It was ok. Just would have been nice. The hotel is old, can use updating, but still very clean. Don't let the oldness turn you off. For us this was no problem but if you didn't drive or can't walk up/down stairs this isn't the hotel for you. It's a good walk uphill and the steps are steep.
Nice view from the hotel and price of this hotel is very cheep.
Very nice hotel, lovely breakfast, comfortable bed.
Fantastic view from room. Public rooms and food good and overall good value. Steep stairs to top floor and no lift.
Very good hotel ,food was excellent . we are going back in August , would have being nice to have had a longer stay in the area.
Very passionated service, very good meals, very tasty interior and nice panorama view at the castle and the city of Bouillon
View from and position/location of hotel was fantastic. Room was very nice and hotel very clean with friendly staff. You might want to mention that this hotel is definately not for less able persons. The steps at the front of the hotel are 'very' steep.
charming hotel with spectacular views. fantastic bathroom. we left something behind in the room and the staff very sweetly sent it home to us. great service!
Spectacular position and good breakfast. BBC1 available on TV Too many steps and no lift. Wifi advertised but not available. Despite marvellous position overlooking castle and city, our room had no appreciable view.
Large room Somewhat cheap look of room and facilities.
Good position in town of Bouillon Dog in adjoining room disturbed us in the night. Group of 10+ young ladies were noisy, visiting each others rooms, banging doors, hairdryer going at 5.30 am. Our table for Breakfast was in the bar although other guests were seated in the 1/2 empty dining room. We asked to move and were refused.
Staff were excellent, food was good, bed was very comfortable. There was no lounge area in which to sit and relax. One either stayed in ones own room or had to sit in the bar area. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There was no mini-bar in the room.
nice friendly staff, very quiet, good location, very nice comfortable bed ok but not worth 4 stars - no wireless in rooms (they said there would be), simple cold breakfast, small room
Comfortable bed, view of the river and the food No
The hotel and its grounds are lovely. The food is wonderful. The bathroom needs a shower or a holder for the hand-held spray and also an enclosure around the tub (glass panel, door, shower curtain). Breakfast is too expensive. We only want coffee and a croissant. A smaller less expensive option would be welcome.
The very friendly atmosphere and wonderful service. A real haven in the middle of a forest - exquisite. A little difficult to find, not signed from main town of Bouillion.
very lovely room, decor beautiful. Very comfortable. Food good but not brilliant
Good Hotel Beautiful location Breakfast commencing at 8.30 was quite late
Nice room with river view, hotel is on a quiet road, outside eating and drinking area. No negative points at all
in the town, close to castle cold in the room
The view and the location excellent. Staff very helpful. The internet could be only accessed through a cable in the lobby. I guess that it is close to impossible to get to it in high season.
Great location, very friendly staff. The room was clean and had a nice view of the river. Quiet location and good breakfast (the warm bread in the morning was wonderful!). The room did not look like the picture (we did not have a four poster bed). The bed was really uncomfortable.
At first, the staff seemed curt, but later the manager was quite helpful. The location was also very good. I've never seen: 1). A hotel in a cold climate with tiles on the floor with no carpeting! Gave it a cold, impersonal feeling. 2.) A TV with a controlled maximum volume! Wasn't very loud!!
Very good location
The chef/owner was very attenti8ve to his guests and provided a very high standard of cuisine. Nothing
Good location, nice village. In need of some improvements - radiator did not work properly (too hot) and hairdryer hose was broken.
Manager Alain was very friendly. Friends said shared bathrooms lacked privacy - I understand there were open cubicles for shower and toilets in same space.
When booking hotel accommodation, our preference is for a smaller hotel preferably with family management. The owners of Hotel la Ferronniere were most welcoming and the accommodation left nothing to be desired.
lovely views and good location in countryside/town great food friendly ambience
Excellent presentation of hotel, high standards throughout, gourmet food. New separate 5 room addition will open late summer 2010, c/w spa and private parking. Good location, ample private parking.
Wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting just at the edge of the forest, with a beautiful view over Bouillon and it's Chateau Fort.
Clean, quiet and cosy hotel with good service and friendly people. Good location, nice view on the valley and town. Marked with three stars but deserves four. Excellent cuisine. Lovely and sweet "guard dog" - Erton (Australian Shepherd) :-)
Very comfortable and well-appointed room. Very good breakfast. Quiet location. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Small but pretty garden. The hotel is situated on th hill above Bouillon so it would be tiring to walk to and from the town. Dinner in the evening, though delicious, did take a very long time to serve.
Beautiful house! We had a great room with a large balcony and excellent view, lovely garden. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant: good, gourmet French food. Also I loved their dog. Unable to get wifi to work, and staff was not helpful in solving the problem. While the restaurant was excellent, it was also expensive.
The view, the atmosphere, the lovely restaurant.
Friendly and efficient staff, excellent location, great atmosphere.
Very nice bedroom and friendly atmosphere The dinner menu was too exotic and elaborate for our taste
Very friendly welcome and drink on arrival. Assistance with moving luggage to room. Breakfast start time of 8.30am is too late for many people. Even at 8.30 the man preparing breakfast was not ready!!
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Price was very affordable. Beautiful countryside in surrounding area. Overall a good stay. Rooms were quite small, and had problems with tv (although tv was not a big deal to me). Not much to do in the little town this hotel is in, but it is a 5-10 minute drive to Bouillon, making it a good location. I had no problems, but it was expected to leave your room key by the office whenever you left the hotel. This made me feel a bit uneasy, as I am not used to this. But still a good stay.
Friendly staff, excellent food in restaurant, good cold buffet breakfast, good beer selection, very clean room & bathroom, pleasant village setting. Tiny bathroom - but spotlessly clean. Nothing to dislike
relaxed atmosphere, excellent food. Owners Anne & Jean were very helpfull. We would certainly return again
Very pretty village and good location for touring the Ardenne region. If you are used to a 5ft bed make sure you request one. Most rooms have small doubles. There will be an extra cost. Overpriced in my opinion for the standard of accommodation.
Warm and friendly reception. Excellent dinner. Good bed. Excellent breakfast.
The extremely pleasant staff who made us feel very welcome & the food was good.
Friendly staff - warm welcome and nice restaurant.
The kindness of the owners, the good service and meals and last but not least the atmosphere in the drawing room (open fire and good background music!). No
Very clean, nice location Since we flew in from los angeles the day before we overslept and were 45 minutes too late for breakfast. we did not get anything and when we asked for tea and a cheese sandwich we had to pay 18 euro on top of our all included booking price. very inflexible and bad business practice !
wonderful restaurant, very good food - tres grande cuisine... Accueil tres attentif
Food good quality, if a little expensive. Owners very friendly and helpful and the garden area good for the children, although the swing / climbing frame may not survive much longer. Somewhat dated fixtures & fittings. No shower curtain.
Evening meal. The location, it was a bit remote from the village.
Booked 2 X 3-bed rooms - on arrival only one available. Hade to have single, double and triple for 4 adults and 2 small children.
Peferct location for our purposes. Not so far from centre of the village. Very good restaurant. Nice breakfast. Pleasant staff. The room furniture was correct but looks a little bit poor for a 3 stars hotel. Parquet flooring too much noisy. Room not quite soundproof.
Dinner was very poor for the price. Vegetables were not cooked properly and not preserved in the right way. For example ice cold tomatoes in a salad. Early breakfast was not possible. No solutions were given for the breakfast problem, though the manager wanted to arrange the pay part immediatly: not customer friendly. Result: we still didn't had breakfast at sunday 7:30. Thereby, when we wanted to leave at 7:30 (which we told the manager the evening before), no staff was available and all the doors were locked. We had to leave the hotel through the windows.
nothing After a 500 mile trip, an all night party
The comfort and helpfullness of staff.
Excellent rural location. Very good food. A warm welcome. Nothing
The proprietor, aware that we had not stayed at a fortunate time, provided us with transbaggage service to our next destination at no extra charge. We were disappointed to find the restaurant closed. The hotel's website advertises a gourmet restaurant, making no mention of days on which it will be closed and accepted our booking without informing us that the restaurant would be closed for our visit. It is at some distance from the center of Paliseul and we were on foot. Facilities expected of a hotel such as a reception desk and staff are lacking. Access to our room required us to enter the restaurant building through its kitchens, having first secured a key from the proprietor's home across the street. Next to the entry door was a large, stinking garbage bin awaiting collection. At breakfast we were initially served curdled milk for our coffee.
Attentive multilingual hostess and really outstanding food at a quiet country location near Bouillon.
A very friendly and welcoming hotel packed with rustic charm. Room was a decent size and very quiet with comfortable beds. The Food was excellent. A fair distance from Bouillon (about 5 minutes by car)
the hotel staff, the beatiful area was breath taking.the quiet.the smell of the air. no aplicable
The friendliness of the owner and the overall atmosphere. The beds could do with an update. Never had such a noisy bed in a hotel.
nice rooms, great dinner, middle of nowhere not accesible by public transport, a bit far from boullion . next to a truck road that wakes you up when driving by.
friendly top stay
Great welcome , especially from the owners 2 Lovable Labradors. Really friendly place, and service. Good Restaurant. You do need a car to go off into Bouillon or Florenville.
The food was amazing! Bart is a great chef.
The rooms were clean and serviced everyday. The staff were fantastic and so helpful
The owners were very welcoming and very helpful. The brilliant food was a lovely bonus.
