Pros: Lovely host and wonderful bathtub!
Pros: Beautiful views
Pros: The place is beautifully surrounded by the forest and the view from the window is amazing. The room is big (there is also an extra bed and the space is for 3 people, so for 2 people extra wide) and well equipped. Helen, our host, was very kind and helpful. There are walking opportunities everywhere and a nice pub within walking distance.
Pros: excellent location, with a splendid view, the breakfast room was very good, as was the breakfast, better than many places, the bath was very large and superb.
Cons: On a chilly september evening there was no heating in the room, although it was stated in the information brochure that the heating could be controlled by the radiator valves, this was the same in the morning, unfortunately not very comfortable.
Pros: The host was lovely, the location brilliant and the breakfast excellent
Pros: Immaculately clean and very well presented. Excellent view. Quality breakfast. Very nice owner.
Cons: Having to leave
Pros: Staff very friendly and accommodating, breakfast was lovely! Will stay again
Pros: Practically everything! The room was very comfortable, the location was absolutely superb i.e. some of the best views I have seen in some time. The host is very pleasant and helpful. If you are planning to see the Forest of Dean or the Wye Valley, this is the place to stay.
Cons: Only suggestion would be to add a breakdown of what is available for breakfast as it was a little unclear on what could be had in the morning. Not really a negative, just a suggestion.

Pros: The location was perfect for us and the accommodation was excellent and comfortable with friendly and welcoming hosts - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was the best we have had in a bed and breakfast in this country.
Cons: There is nothing we can say that we did not like as everything was as we would have wanted. Bed was comfortable and room clean and as I say all was good.
Pros: There were a few areas outside where you could sit outside and got sun in the morning and for most of day until late afternoon (September ). The hosts were great and welcoming. Room and ensuite well finished and tastefully decorated . Refreshments and toiletries provided of good quality.

Cons: The poached egg at breakfast was snotty
Pros: Amazing place, cleaned to the highest standards, lovely owners.
Cons: The only complain is about the location in general - it's in the middle of the forest, so you don't have many options to eat out.
Pros: Great location. Close to symonds yat and wye valley river in addition to the forest of dean which surrounds the property. Room and service was great. Really happy with my stay.
Pros: Accommodation was very clean. Bed very comfortable. Had a lovely nights sleep as the room quiet even being at the front of the property on the side of the road.

Pros: Comfortable bed. Excellent food. Good breakfast.
Cons: No bath towels - difficult to dry off with just a hand towel.
Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Good choice and well cooked.
Cons: The last few steps to reach the bedroom corridor was dangerous for elderly persons. There was no handrail or anything else to grip. My wife felt very insecure when going up or down. The bathroom for Room 7 had no shelves!!
Pros: The setting is lovely, with outside seating and a play area at the back, leading to a little bridge across the stream and woods full of birdsong - exactly what you need after 2-3 hours in the car.

Pros: The breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly, locals very friendly, the room was at the front overlooking the main road and was a bit noisy, but not a problem, it would have been nice to have had a evening meal in the restaurant as it looked good, but we booked late and they were full, not a problem and the management were very apologetic very nice people, It was well worth the cost and would stay there again.

Pros: Quite and secluded beautiful location
Pros: It was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and completely independent.
Cons: Little interaction with owner.
Pros: The stunning location. The cosy atmosphere.
Cons: A few hooks behind the door for coats. Two arm chairs instead of the small sofa would have made the sitting room a lot more comfortable, however this is only a small detail!
Pros: Lovely peaceful place to stay which was just what we came for.
Cons: All that we would have changed would have been for there to have been a mini kitchen/sink facility as our plan was to eat in and this would have made such a difference to us
Pros: Beautiful rooms. Very clean. New looking bathroom Very homely feel. Mini fridge, microwave, tea, coffee supplied Lots of extras especially if a family Toy box, family games, high chair, travel cot bed, books, DVD’s on the shelf to watch. Just lovely. Very quiet. Drive gets very narrow so large 4x4 might struggle down. Off the beaten track. No breakfast served but we took our own in a cool bag and put it in the fridge.
Cons: Narrow drive. Glad we found it before going to pub in evening otherwise could be tricky to find if arrive in the dark.
Pros: Brilliant place relaxing comfortable quite area
Cons: Wi-fi was very poor
Pros: Loved the amazing views the tranquillity and the lovely homely cottage feel. Would highly recommend if you want to get away from it all,
Cons: Everything was perfect
Pros: Everything went exceptionally well. Beautiful renovated rooms. Quiet, spotlessly clean. Feels remote but actually still very close to main road. Internet worked ok but no phone signal to speak of but that suited us just fine. Signal was available a short distance up the road. All the basics provided by host.
Cons: We liked everything.
Located in Lydney, George Inn & Millingbrook Lodge is a 4-minute drive from Forest of Dean and 9 minutes from Wye Valley. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely rooms.
Cons: Walls were a little thin, or the occupants in the adjacent room listened to their TV exceptionally loudly.
Pros: Everything was perfect, great food, great staff
Pros: Excellent Restaurant - and helpful staff.
Cons: wifi - in the 'Lodge' wasn't too good - not such a major issue as the wifi in the Pub itself - The George is fine!
Cons: Nothing, very pleasant stay.
Pros: Excellent evening meal and breakfast, comfortable room.
Pros: Location was good as wanted to visit Forest of Dean. The food was excellent. The staff all polite and friendly. This was a second visit as enjoyed it so much first time.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
With a stay at The Woolaston Inn in Lydney, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The stuff was very polite and very very friendly, i felt great . I liked the room and the food was excellent. On top of it the location is brilliant, nice , not far from the road and easy to find. I definitely will come back!
Pros: Very comfortable bed and good shower. Staff at check-in and restaurant were helpful and polite.
Cons: Decor in the room was dated and there was slightly worrying plug in ceiling socket for the TV! Also, impossible to work at the desk due to very poor lighting in that part of the room.
Pros: Exactly what a low budget hotel should be, with the interesting mix of Ghurka end western life and cuisine.
Cons: Clean room but one of the windows seals was letting in road noise.
Pros: Comfortable room. Although situated close to the main road I was not really kept awake by traffic as it wasn't particularly busy through the night. Enjoyed a good evening meal in the Gurkha restaurant which is part of the hotel complex.
Cons: The bathroom smelled a bit musty. Not very close to anything else so need have a car to get to the nearest towns (Lydney or Chepstow).
Situated in Alvington, The Globe Inn Alvington has a restaurant, bar, garden, and free WiFi. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. Bristol is 40 km from the accommodation, while Cheltenham is 49 km from the property. The nearest airport is Gloucestershire Airport, 42 km from The Globe Inn Alvington.
Pros: The restaurant serves delicious, reasonably priced meals and wine, in a friendly and informal atmosphere. The Globe is actually on the main road from Chepstow, so it was really easy to find, and perfect for reaching other locations within the Forest of Dean. The rooms have been recently renovated, so I understand, and the quality of furnishing was excellent.
Cons: The noise of the fan from the kitchen below carried up into the bedrooms. Not so good if you are a light sleeper.
Pros: Festival event on but Emily looked after us very well
Cons: We were offered only a continental breakfast in the room which was ok but no chair provided in the room
Pros: Room and bathroom was lovely, good location.
Cons: Live music in the pub below made it rather noisy. Hard to know where to checkin as it was very busy.
Pros: Friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodation.
Pros: This was an excellent place to stay - the staff were super friendly and helpful, the room was lovely - very comfortable, the food was delicious. Highly recommend.
Cons: To be absolutely fair, we were warned twice after we'd booked that there was live music and it would be noisy - but we needed to be near Lydney so kept the booking- we wouldn't stay here again at a weekend if there was live music - it was just too much noise right under our rooms and too late.
Pros: Friendly welcome, excellent dinner, clean and comfortable room.
Cons: Noise from extractor fan from the kitchen audible in the room throughout the night.
Pros: The room was modern and very comfortable

Pros: Good convenient location. Comfortable hotel. Fine breakfast.
With a stay at Wild Goose Lodge in Gloucester, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Berkeley Castle and Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and lockers. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Room was nicely decorated and homely!
Cons: Too expensive for very basic facilities, no breakfast.
With a stay at Dean Valley Manor in Lydney, you'll be a 1-minute drive from Wye Valley and 9 minutes from Forest of Dean. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff were very friendly, the swimming pool was reasonable, although showers not good, the history of the manor was interesting and the setting was amazing, deep in Wye Valley
Cons: The room was not cleaned properly, the tv was tiny and hard to see if sat in bed. The breakfast cereal options were poor, they ran out of items too easily and items not replaced next day Shower was poor and standing in a round bottomed bath was dangerous. WiFi only worked in the lounge next to reception but kept dropping out. The fire escape was dangerous - bushes growing through sides, slippery rungs, insufficient lighting at night - had to use it because of a fire in the kitchen at 11pm Restaurant was expensive and menu options poor, soup was lovely but main courses were not great. Bar was limited and not very attractive.
Pros: Location brill, breakfast good, evening meal good.
Cons: Heating was poor, bathroom towel rail did not work
Cons: lack of heating,no action by staff to provide adequate heating in all areas. breakfast was self service ..water for tea was from a hot jug ,tea requires boiling water.mrmalade was in alarge jar with one serving spoon meaning anyone who was not hygenic could spread infection.and no side dish to place serving spoon when finished. lack o variety, i.e. yohurts, fresh fruit, scrambled e or poached eggs etc.
Pros: Great location, which is why we have visited many times.
Cons: Sadly their head gardener had left six weeks earlier, you could tell.
Pros: Beautiful grounds. Huge room (Room 4 - Superior Double) which includes a table and 2 comfy chairs. Helpful staff.
Cons: Our room was cold on the first night, but staff looked into it and it was fine on 2nd night. Shower was hard to control (temp). I'm being picky as it is great value for money.
Pros: Beautiful setting absolutely lovely staff very quirky hotel good value for money food very good
Cons: It’s in need of a lot of tlc things are very very tired which does not do the location or the staff any justice There is zero phone signal and zero WiFi save for a small area in reception whilst this is not an issue it does need to be more explicit on the marketing material
Pros: We loved the character
Pros: Location and building did not disappoint. Nice grounds. Room comfortable enough. Staff willing and pleasant enough but looked like they had only minimal training, particularly in the restaurant.
Cons: Everywhere looked a little unloved and there was a lack of attention to detail (I saw some paper on the floor of the restaurant on our first day that was still there when we left). Breakfast was pretty disappointing, with a limited range and not very appetising hot items. We ate in the restaurant - food was OK but menu more for an American diner than an English country house. Advertised beer not available (no beer at all, despite being bottled).
Pros: The grounds are really nice and the staff are all very helpful and hardworking. We had steaks for dinner and they were perfect. The breakfast was really good, well cooked. We have stayed there twice now and would go back.
Cons: There is a limited range of drinks at the bar, but still fine.
Pros: The setting, property and grounds are lovely.
Cons: It’s a shame the attention to detail is missing. No towels in bedroom or ensuite. Toothpaste marks on glass bathroom shelf. Only 1 tea bag. Very small and dated wall mounted TV.
Pros: Fantastic leisure pool. Amazing grounds - a haven of tranquility.
Cons: Food was a little disappointing.
Pros: What was there not to like! The lodge we were in was perfectly clean with everything we needed. We only paid £75.00 for the evening for 2 adults and 2 children which was a lot cheaper than any of the hotels in the area. We had attended a very close family members funeral that day and it was so wonderful to go back to our lodge and properly relax in comfort and peace and quiet.
Located in Lydney, DeanGate Motel is a 2-minute drive from Forest of Dean and 10 minutes from Wye Valley. Featured amenities include express check-out and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location Bed comfortable
Cons: Fridge not working and dirty Cracked tiles on bathroom floor.
Pros: Hotel is very secluded and quiet
Cons: No booking when i turned up. Not alot of seating for groups and bar was small and not manned
Pros: The rooms were spacious and well Equipped for a Motel.
Cons: The Reception Closed at 8pm and we barely made check in.
Pros: Breakfast was very good and the bedroom was very comfortable. It was a quiet location.
Cons: The WiFi was poor and dropped out constantly. The bathroom needed some attention as the lid of the toilet was broken.
Pros: Was just a one nighter so was looking for affordability and somewhere away from the larger places.
Cons: All was good.
Pros: Staff were great. Very friendly and helped me with my issues. Handy location for my workplace. The building had a modern and well kept look about it. The room decor was smart and there was a desk area for me to work in.
Cons: My first problem was the bin had not been emptied from the previous guest. The bed was worn out and gave me a bad back. The internet was not good in certain areas and would not work at all on occasions. There was a problem with the television reception and one evening I could not get any reception in one room and after moving was unable to receive BBC1 or 2 and the other stations were very poor.
