Good reception staff.
Poor bar and poor value breakfast. Difficult tto find because name change from Mercure not at Front entrance but in Plaza at rear only. On third day we left rom at 9.30 am and returned at t5.30 to find no servicing had been done. Staff truculent and rushed the job leaving no soap, a mini bar error and dirty water glasses. Following a complaint the Hotel reduced our extras bill by 50%
I suggest the reception staff are trained to help customers with information regarding the city. Unlike most hotels, the hotel doesn't have a concierge desk, therefore it is important that the reception staff have the ability provide simple guidance to visitors.
The hotel was just an average *** hotel. Nothing great, but nothing terrible. Although outside the average tourist area, the proximity to public transportation made it very convenient.
This is not the hotel's fault, but any room with a view onto the cobblestone road also got the pleasure of hearing it whenever cars drove over it (which was rather frequent during normal hours 7am - 10pm). In cooler months this really would not be a problem as the rooms are well insulated and in the summer the hotel provides AC. Unfortunately for us, we wanted the fresh air and got with it the loud sound that goes with cars and cobblestones.
Excellently run hotel
Near the ring S-bahn station ("Frankfurter Allee", 3 blocks from hotel = 5-10 min) and line 5 U-bahn station ("Samariter Strasse", 1-2 blocks from hotel = 2-3 min).
Some tobacco smell got trough ventilation somehow to our room, but not much, just enough it was noticeable.
