10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a uniquely beautiful inn/hotel located in rural Basque countryside. The hosts did everything possible to make our stay comfortable, and we would highly recommend Chambres d'Hotes Aire Berria.
Cons: There was absolutely nothing we didn't like. The heating system was being converted to an alternative energy source, which did create some discomfort the first night of our stay, however this was remedied and a hot water bottle that night kept us cozy and warm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, the hotel was great and the rooms are clean and in very good condition. Very nice views on the fields/mountains. The breakfast was also really good. Really excellent location to see both the Basque of France and Spain. Highly recommended
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is very special: antique, where the grandfather of the host lived at the time. The surrounding landscape is very picturesque, and when we were invited to the Apartiv by the hosts in the evening (with their Japanese relatives) we sat on a special terrace overlooking the landscape, and tasted cider (a drink that characterizes the Basque people). We heard the Basque language in a conversation between the owner and his daughter (an interesting experience). The owner has a sense of humor, sociable, and so did his wife, who made us an exceptional and tasty breakfast. We would come back here without hesitation.
Cons: It was a little hard to find the place, but with the help of one of the village residents the problem was solved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious breakfast, lovely kind hosts who went out of their way to welcome us and help secure us a reservation at a local restaurant. Beautiful views from the room of a peaceful lush green valley.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fun place to experience Basque culture and mingle with other guests. It helps to know some French, although one of the hosts speaks good English. Enjoyed the pre-dinner picnic on the back porch, complete with cider served Basque style. Home cooked meal by reservation. Good breakfast. Convenient parking on the grounds. Not far from fascinating prehistoric cave and museum at Isturitz.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, very comfortable stay.
Cons: Nothing!!!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Restoration of the old property was very tastefully done
Cons: Nothing to complain about- what we expected
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great with homemade cake and poached pear along with usual pastries. Classic old French property which was full of character. We stayed in the attic rooms which was great for our purpose and looked in on the first floor rooms which looked amazing.
Cons: Nothing to dislike about the property at all. Bit off the beaten track but we knew this when booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful house in beautiful Basque Countryside. Breakfast was wonderful and our hostess was very kind and helpful in

Pros: The Basque landscape was stunning. The hosts are vibrant, passionate and so proud of their culture and heritage. We booked a traditional dinner and our host fed 12 people easily and professionally, with incredible Basque dishes and wines that fit each dish...the sangria was a stand-out! We would return in a heart-beat.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly hosts, lovely house in a super country location. Excellent breakfast and top quality dinner.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely amazing I wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: The only thing you have to know is that the walls are thin :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful basque-style house from the 19th century in the middle of nature, with a nearby lake. The breakfast was excellent as well as the welcome coffee and cakes. We definitely recommend ! The region around is also fantastic.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Charming owner , full of enthusiasm !
Cons: The local restaurant gave us a poor meal .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful home hosts, a lot of attention to guests, breakfast delightful, thank you for everything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was lovely! A beautiful country location...and a pool for a refreshing dip after a day of sightseeing and driving the back roads in the area. The owner, Andoni was wonderful, full of information on the Basque area and it’s history. The breakfast was very generous and delicious. I highly recommend a stay at ‘Le Domaine Silencia
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This accomodation is the authentic and traditional, beautiful basque house, and the owner, who is kind and friendly person who speaks English very well ,is very knowledgeable about basque tradition and the regione around so it was interesting to listen to him(and useful for sightseeing). The room was spacious, clean, tastefully decorated with beautiful garden view from the window. There is a big garden to stroll, with ducks and a pond with fish, a pool and summer kitchen. I love the location of hotel , it is in the country, of beautiful nature. They serve hand-made jam for breakfast, and the breakfast is included in the room fee. There is a hair dryer, a desk, well working wifi in the room. I world like to note that the owner cooked scramble egg for me in one morning for the breakfast, and it was just perfect. I wonder he has worked as a professional cook...
Cons: Maybe check in-time. It is 17.00 and I find it a little late although it seems to be standard for chambre d'hotes

Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: First night good room service at the room next day no arrangement . So there is no regularity and no service arrangement for such high value .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We did an overnight quick break and certainly were not disappointed. Wonderful setting, fabulous suite. Huge bathroom, no shortage of hot water and lovely toiletries. Getting around on the golf buggy was fun. Excellent staff, very friendly & efficient. Dinner was amazing - michelin standard, very impressive and very reasonably priced, we thoroughly enjoyed our short time and look forward to returning. We didn't use the pool however it looked lovely. Both myself and my husband had a massage....a very different and amazing experience and my advice to other travellers - you must do! Breakfast was very nice, lots of choice. Never have I rated 10 to any hotel anywhere! Simply, there was nothing to not like !
Cons: Absolutely Nothing !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and a beautiful room. Was a real treat!
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location and building were beautiful.
Cons: The property looked tired and landscaping needed attention. Also, we had asked about hiking options and there was no information available even though we were in beautiful hiking country with many trails. The pool setting was beautiful but all the beds were full of weeds and much of the furniture was broken.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Internet connection did not work!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Situated on a beautiful hillside with panoramic views this hotel is made up of 5 houses connected by small lanes which are navigated by electric golf carts; great fun to drive. Breakfast is superb and in the evening the restaurant is certainly world class, with an amazing attention to detail. The wine list is equally exhaustive and there is advice on hand if required. For Porsche 'nut's' the private museum on site is a 'must see'.
Cons: We feel that to sustain the 5 star rating the hotel needs to refurbish the rooms, specifically the bathrooms which are looking dated. It would also be great if there was a 'bistro' menu option that could provide a simpler range of food for those staying a number of nights.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Great views. Nice pool. Golf carts for everyone. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. I would have loved to stay longer.
Cons: The menu of the restaurant is too limited to stay longer than 2 nights. The staff did not speak well English which lead to a misunderstanding of the half board price. It is hard to get a fried egg for breakfast.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was great with wonderful views over the countryside from our room, the restaurant and the pool. We were in the highest building, which probably had the best views. Golf carts are provided for getting around the property as the hillside is quite steep. Everyone was very accommodating, including the staff in the restaurant, where the meals were excellent. Turn down service included replacing towels and freshening up the bath, which was nice. Anything we requested, like a bucket of ice or extra hangers were brought to the room quickly and with a smile. They made an effort to congratulate us on our wedding anniversary, which as a same-sex couple, is very appreciated.
Cons: The bed was a bit too firm for my taste and could benefit from a mattress topper. No stand up shower in the bath, just a tub with hand shower attachment, which is not my preference. Our pool lounger fell apart and needs to be replaced. Despite these minor issues, I’d stay again.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful hotel in beautiful basque country side. The hotel consist in 5 big houses in nature and each guest has your own golf cart to move around. 1 staff take care of you from arrival to departure and the gentleman who was in charge of us was a lovely and professional person (you wait at the parking and a staff comes to pick you up). The room was the best ever. It was like your own country house, in the ground floor was living room with nespresso machine, sofa, TV, WC, wardrobe, a desk and a nice a terrasse with view. In 1st floor(2nd floor for USA) there are a bed, again TV and wardrobe and bathroom. Its Interior design was just beautiful. There is a heated pool and the restaurant, and the service of restaurant and hotel was perfect for my taste( elegant but at the same time casual, not snobbish ). The location was lovely. It was in exceptional setting in nature.
Cons: Wifi was very intermittent. If you just want to check email from family, it would be Ok but if you have any business to deal with or want to do serious research on PC, you would feel a big frustration (so slow and cut off all the time at least during my stay). My husband found the bath and shower without shower curtain was a pain in a neck. It was esthetically very beautiful old fashion bath but without shower curtain, you can't help sprashing water everywhere.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mid October across the Pyrenees foothills...descended through the turning leaves of Fall,...and into the pastoral rolling green Basque valleys and upon this gem. No welcome could be warmer. Fifth generation, family run, traditional Basque inn, dating from 1745, perfectly updated and modernized. Just as warmly welcoming are the surrounding outdoor and indoor dining, lounge, pool, and bar areas, all privately encompassed by beautifully maintained hedgery and garden. Kitchen and dining services, well attended and appealing. More than adequate attached private and safe public parking set in its small residential farming commune. Excellent.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Family run hotel in a stunning location. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Clean, comfortable bedroom. Bathroom small but adequate - good shower with lots of hot water. Dinner was exceptional, the best meal we had had for a long time!
Cons: Breakfast is a bit basic, but is free with room. Would have appreciated some fresh bread other than the small, white rolls - perhaps some cereal bread?
6.3 Good
Pros: The food was good but not like other people have raved about it - bit of a captured market as there weren't really any other options in walking distance. Staff amazing and friendly. Pool also very nice.
Cons: The room was depressingly basic, we didn't want to spend any time in it. It really could do with an update. The bathroom also had a very unpleasant odour.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the staff were excellent and could not do enough for you. Hotel was very clean and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Very pleasant atmosphere and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Pros: The view is absolutely amazing! The building seems to be new, with current decor and yet appropriately decorated for the region. The room and bathroom are spacious, with lots of storage. The owners paid attention to every detail - when you walk into the hallway (which is secure), you immediately smell freshness thanks to a diffuser. The balcony is the show-stopper - you can sit out on a large balcony and have a glass of wine while you watch the sunset and listen to the sheep bells in the distance. The restaurant serves local specialities that were absolutely delicious! The staff helped us make our choices, as we don't know the local cuisine, and we loved it all! I highly recommend it!

Pros: This a lovely little hotel in the village of Itxassou. Upon arrival in the afternoon and shown to our room it had a lovely view but was facing the west with the sun shining brightly which made the room quite hot - and the air conditioning was not working. We were going to be staying for two nights. The proprietor kindly moved us to another room which was actually larger - thank you. Dinner that evening was very good - the chef is quite creative. The next day we went on a four hour hike on one of the local trails - it was a beautiful day and the views were gorgeous. That evening we ate dinner down the road at Haize Hegoa - it was delicious. Breakfast at the hotel had a lot of variety and was very tasty. The bed was very comfortable. We would love to return some day.

7.0 Good
Pros: Convenient central location for several nearby towns & villages. Excellent large parking area. Friendly staff. Dinner was slightly better than average and breakfast superb (home-made conserves).
Cons: Room was small and poorly furnished. Shower would only be accessible by small children due to very narrow access "slot" (see photo). Some early morning traffic noise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of Basque country is unsurpassed. Le Trinquet is a family run hotel in a traditional Basque village - Trinquet is a form of Pelota and the hotel has a court (ask). We were given Room 8 because we were travelling with 2 large dogs. It is tastefully decorated and has a beautiful balcony which catches the setting sun. Large car park onsite. Boulangerie (sells beer too) and Biscuiterie nearby. Restaurant closed during winter on Sunday and Wednesday and no other restaurants in the village, Biarritz is 30 mins in a car. Breakfast was an extra charge but was all locally produced. Dogs were no problem but advise contacting the property beforehand to get the best room for your needs.
Cons: Nothing - small family run hotel so don't expect too many facilities.
7.0 Good
Pros: The village in which the hotel is placed is beautiful. Perfect if you are traveling with dogs. Very clean.
Cons: The bed was not comfortable and it was imposible to sleep, since 7 am there was a lot of noise, from the outside (hotel is next to a highway) and from the inside, it seems like the cleaning team started to clean at 8 am and were doing way to much noise. WIFI wasnt working. Breakfast is not included.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: In the morning the staff were friendly and helpful and provided an excellent breakfast.
Cons: We arrived a bit late (8pm) so it was a bit disappointing that no-one was there to greet us. However we were able to access our rooms once we worked out how.
