This is a nice small hotel, stylishly decorated, with imaginative cooking at dinner, and excellent breakfast. Our small bedroom was comfortable and very clean. The owners and staff were pleasant.
Great weekend retreat, location and ambiance perfect. Very friendly and helpful owners
The owners were really friendly and spoke good English. The building is about 400 years old, small and rustic. They have a huge fireplace with a big fire burning. Very atmospheric. The meal in their restaurant was a bit overpriced.
We were made to feel very welcome and was given very good information about the area and sight seeing possibilities.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel had nice decor and was very relaxing with a cosy fireplace and bar area. The food was excellent and cooked by the owner himself. The forest & countryside surrounding the hotel was stunning, ideal for walking or cycling.
We liked the nice and large fireplace, cousy atmosphere and ambiance in general. Moreover the bed was very comfortable. We wish the room and the bathroom were bigger. The food, eventhough well done and tasty did resemble the flemish rather than valonian dishes, so maybe some consideration should be given to that.
The room was cozy and comfortable. The bed was especially comfy. The hotel food was very good, and the beer and wine selection was also excellent. The staff were friendly, and spoke English very well. They provided a wealth of local knowledge, recommending things to do, as well as restaurants to visit. An overall excellent experience. The weather was bad. Not that the hotel could have done anything about this. I just felt a need to whine. That being said, the weather forced my girlfriend and I to spend more time in the room, so it all worked out.
Very nice ambience in restaurant and bars When we checked in even though we had booked and confirmed 2 rooms they tried to make us share 1 room. Eventually they gave us 2 rooms. My room was on the ground floor and extremely noisy with the river beside as well as the owners dogs running backwards and forwards
I liked that I could take my dog. My shower was terribly moldy. Hotel in need of renovations.
The cleaninglady found my earring and left it with a nice note. TV didn't work, no telephone, the temperature of the water in the shower changes depending on other people's use of water in the bathroom or other rooms, there were no bonbons after dinner as promised in the folder, there wasn't told on forehand that you had to pay in cash otherwise you would be charged 5% extra.
The restaurant is not bad, though a little overpriced...The bed was good.Nice hiking area. The bathroom was not in the best state. There was a lot of mold just above the shower which didn't look appealing. The breakfast was ok but there was a lot missing and the staff was too slow in filling up.
Peferct location for our purposes. Not so far from centre of the village. Very good restaurant. Nice breakfast. Pleasant staff. The room furniture was correct but looks a little bit poor for a 3 stars hotel. Parquet flooring too much noisy. Room not quite soundproof.
Excellent rural location. Very good food. A warm welcome. Nothing
Dinner was very poor for the price. Vegetables were not cooked properly and not preserved in the right way. For example ice cold tomatoes in a salad. Early breakfast was not possible. No solutions were given for the breakfast problem, though the manager wanted to arrange the pay part immediatly: not customer friendly. Result: we still didn't had breakfast at sunday 7:30. Thereby, when we wanted to leave at 7:30 (which we told the manager the evening before), no staff was available and all the doors were locked. We had to leave the hotel through the windows.
nothing After a 500 mile trip, an all night party
Booked 2 X 3-bed rooms - on arrival only one available. Hade to have single, double and triple for 4 adults and 2 small children.
Evening meal. The location, it was a bit remote from the village.
The proprietor, aware that we had not stayed at a fortunate time, provided us with transbaggage service to our next destination at no extra charge. We were disappointed to find the restaurant closed. The hotel's website advertises a gourmet restaurant, making no mention of days on which it will be closed and accepted our booking without informing us that the restaurant would be closed for our visit. It is at some distance from the center of Paliseul and we were on foot. Facilities expected of a hotel such as a reception desk and staff are lacking. Access to our room required us to enter the restaurant building through its kitchens, having first secured a key from the proprietor's home across the street. Next to the entry door was a large, stinking garbage bin awaiting collection. At breakfast we were initially served curdled milk for our coffee.
wonderful restaurant, very good food - tres grande cuisine... Accueil tres attentif
The comfort and helpfullness of staff.
Food good quality, if a little expensive. Owners very friendly and helpful and the garden area good for the children, although the swing / climbing frame may not survive much longer. Somewhat dated fixtures & fittings. No shower curtain.
The hotel is a lovely building in a really scenic area, the decor is a little dated inside. Great breakfast, nice selection. The staff were bit grumpy but perhaps that was because our French was not very good.
situated in a very pretty area in a small village with good local bars dinner menu was very exspensive
The family atmosphere
good breakfast, friendly staff, our booked room was no more available and we got an excellent apartment not far away with superb view for the same rate samll rooms, must be renovated
diner our room was old en to warm not airco
There was a very warm welcome on arrival, and throughout our stay. nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were excellent and substantial, and were willingly served at 0645 to enable us to get to Gedinne race circuit in time. The quality of the food in the restaurant was top notch, not cheap, but good value.
Very good and tranquil location. Very good meals, good choice, excellent seasonal game. generous portions, good wine list. Family owned and friendly reception. Smell of cooking on arrival.
Friendly staff. Informal attitude. Central location for the Vallees Entrance stairs make it difficult for elderly people with luggage
nice building nice erea lovely walks nice villiges close by. hotel food too expenseve
Very beautiful, in the middle of the forrest. No shower, only bathtub.
Scenic location, excellent facilities, good free off road parking, excellent food and drink, friendly helpful staff. I would have preferred a safety deposit box/safe in the room.
the pleasant atmosfere and good food made for an enjoyable week-end in a beautiful forested area poor sound insulation made it too noisy for peacefull sleep
Excelent forest location
Staff is very friendly and the restaurant is a michelin restaurant with a wonderful wine selection. ask the owner to visit the cellar!
Excellent position and service. Best hotel I have stayed at in France/Belgium. Staff are first class and hotel food and cleanliness could not be bettered. Everything the hotel claims is correct. No
Excellent food and drinks. A bit pricy, though. The peaceful surroundings of the hotel was as mentioned on the website. There stayed too many older people.
The location was superb and the food was very good
Peace and solitude amidst the Belgian woods. A lot of money has obviously been spent bringing this hotel to very high standards.
