Pros: Everything was lovely
7.0 Good
Pros: Whole place exceptionally clean, the outside space so well kept. The room and linen spotless. Luv luv the front terrace and honesty Bar. Free parking right outside. Lovely lady owner The view across the bay idyllic Free birthday drink
Cons: A mile from town up a steep hill at the end, felt sure it said it was closer. Our small double was exactly that the smallest room we have ever stayed in we came home with scratches and bruises from the bed tv and table no room for big people like us. The breakfast wasn’t for us we both left it, thick bacon with loads of fat n weird taste n hard sausages never ate next day meaning another meal to buy. Being told to go to bed is jokes whilst silently waiting for Uber Eats outside! As the owner said she’s not used to People like Us........!!!!!This sums up our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best Guesthouse in Southend On Sea BY FAR. Very tasteful decor, great rooms with lots of space and very welcoming on arrival.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was a quite a walk to the center of town but it kept you fit. we went on the pier and played crazy golf all good fun. we were here to see Roy Chubby Brown who was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a gem. Beautiful decor carried out to a very high standard. Thus creating a calm atmosphere. The rooms are well appointed with little extras that only experienced travellers would appreciate and, to top it all, comfy beds and snowy towels. As if that is not enough the sea is just across the road.
Cons: We didn't have the sense to book a room with a sea view!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The husband and wife team who own and manage the place were super-friendly and helpful. We arrived late (after 10 pm) but the greeting was most cheerful and welcoming! The location is prime, right on the seafront yet a comfortable distance from the commercial part of the strip. The property itself is cosy and the ambiance amiable.
Cons: Can’t think of anything to critique. Really.

Pros: The host and staff were very friendly and welcoming The accommodation was comfortable and to a high standard and excellent value for money. The breakfast was amazing; cereals, full English etc and for a ridiculous £5

10.0 Excellent
Pros: First stay in Southend on Sea and Pebbles was chosen for its previous reviews which was exceptional. I had no problem booking and staff and hosts very welcoming. Breakfast was lovely hot from the kitchen. My son and I had a lovely stay and the area was clean and very accessible too. Parked right outside the guest house luckily was not too hard finding a spot although might be busy at certain times as parking is right on the main road and the seaside is a stone throw away on the opposite side of the guest house. There are a lot of places to stay all in the same area the adeventure island is a half hour walk away but easy to get to. Its lovely there would definitely visit again and stay at Pebbles if it's available. Lovely stay would recommend . Thank you so much for your hospitality. The lobby and dining area was lovely and airy to sit and eat. Full english or vegetarian breakfast to order and ready in minutes, son liked the pork sausages which were well done and fresh fruit and yoghurt and cereal on offer too. Got your own keys to go and come freely. Peaceful quiet sleep and free wifi works well too! As it was a short two night stay, no problem at all xx

Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were very impressed that we were warmly greeted by the owner coming out to our car to see if she could help us... The full English breakfast was delicious... So excited to learn that Downham Hall do afternoon teas... I definitely recommend this B&B. It's so much more than you could imagine. Tastefully decorated ..very high spec... A charming wedding venue with delightful views and grounds... This really is a hidden gem....
Cons: Leaving.... I would love to have stayed longer... It is so beautiful and relaxing...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful venue, location great, room fantastic and quiet. My host was very helpful and I would recommend and use again a real find.
Cons: One minor gripe and I was pre-warned that the TV reception was poor. The distribution system obviously had a fault and an external aerial had been plugged in. Well that aerial would have better use as coaster since once I had grabbed hold of it the reception started working though intermittently. My intention was to watch the news etc whilst catching up on some work emails but in the event I had to choose. In the morning I tend to turn on the news early before I get up but this was not practical. So it was the only minor fly in the ointment. I reckon a more conventional looking aerial (Argos!) would temporarily do the job and I reckon neither me or another occupant would have cared even if a steel coat-hangar was sitting on the window sill. I certainly would not have thought any less of the place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fantastic and varied Staff very warm and welcoming Venue was gorgeous Thoughtful touches

Pros: Everything was perfect! Gorgeous clean and quiet room, friendly helpful staff, and an unbelievably delicious homemade full English breakfast with all the best locally sourced ingredients! You can eat inside or outside on their lovely tea garden deck. (Seriously, the breakfast is phenomenal and well worth staying just for it!!) The location was easy and convenient—a short walk to the train station as well as the main tourist area with wonderful restaurants and shops all around. It's also right on the cliff overlooking the coast, directly in front of a beautiful statue of Queen Victoria. It's also very close to the longest pleasure pier in the world, which I highly recommend walking down! The owners are so sweet and helpful, and they provide a comprehensive guide for the area in a booklet in your room. I absolutely loved my stay here, and I will definitely come again!!
Cons: Nothing! It was perfect. :-)

Pros: LOCATION. Rooms at the front have a great view of the Thames estuary Southend inc pier Superb sunsets (if sun is shining) see attached photo looking up river towards the sunset.. There is no lift so if that is a problem choose a lower floor. The hotel is just a couple of hundred yards west of Southend High Street with its shops restaurants etc AND Southend On Sea Central railway station (to/from Fenchurch Street) The full English breakfast is superlative - but be there before 9am. If you bring the car you can get all day parking for £2.50 arranged thro the hotel

Pros: Clean and tidy bedrooms
Cons: Shared bathroom with a selection of left over bathroom products. The owner was not on site by the time i arrived. Extremely steep and narrow staircase so i could not carry my bag to my room and had to leave it downstairs
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This was the best value for staying close to Southend airport without breaking the bank. Within walking distance to the airport, and there is a pub/restaurant with a nice outdoor patio across the street. There is a shared bathroom which I usually don’t care for, but I had no problems using it when I wanted. It was also clean and had nice soaps and lotions. The one thing to be aware of is it is super close to one of the runways and it will sound like he plane is taking off in your room. However this can be very cool have a front row seat to the take offs and landings, depending on how early you have to get up in the morning. The planes stopped before I went to sleep and didn’t wake me up before my alarm to catch my flight, so worked out well. They also provide ear plugs. Lastly, because I was leaving before breakfast, they packed a bag with juice and snacks. Very thoughtful ❤️
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great. Host is totally great. Beautiful house and great communication with host.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful place to stay. We lucked out as the White Hart was holding a beer festival 25-27th May so our introduction to the place was one full of great music, drinks and lovely weather! Even without the festival on, it would have been a treat to stay here. We booked both rooms and there are only two bedrooms above the pub so it feels like your own little apartment. Both rooms have ensuites and are decorated tastefully, with plenty of supplies of tea/coffee, milk, bath/shower gel etc. We were very pleasantly surprised by just how nice the rooms were. The staff were great, very friendly. The price was absolutely fantastic for the 4 of us and included breakfast which was proper 'country pub' food, with a selection to choose from. We were in Essex for a wedding and struggling to find accommodation but couldn't have been more pleased with The White Hart. Thank you so much for being such a great venue.
Cons: I can't think of any constructive criticism! Despite there being a festival on and it being a pub, I slept absolutely fine, so not even any complaint with the noise. I guess paying £10 for a double gin made us wince but that's just because we're thrifty Northerners!!!! Haha!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was 1st class - freshly cooked more than ample full English with freshly sourced produce.
Cons: Could have done with some more milk and there where no staff around to ask once my breakfast was served. Very minor 'picky' point!!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The location was nice.
Cons: The service was poor, we had asked in advance to get into room at 12pm & the room was not ready when we arrived due to staff being off sick. Breakfast in the morning was very poor again due to no staff. Nothing was laid out properly had to ask for bowl's for cereal & cooked breakfast came up warm not hot.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, decor, staff everything else was perfect
Cons: We were staying in one of the suites and noticed there was a fly problem which we've never had any other stay or rooms. We suspect the flys were coming in through one of the vents? Maybe the ac? At one point there was over 12 in the room at one time.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness, style, and friendly staff.
Cons: The breakfast was a bit disappointing. Nothing major.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds were great and the overall room was lovely and not to much. Bathroom was great also
Cons: The £20 for each hour of the late checkout could be a little better but nothing else.

Pros: Beautiful furnishings , creates a boutique atmosphere, and very friendly staff.
Cons: The room was too small for the price and considering we booked a king deluxe room, which didn't even have a bath in the bathroom.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, nice breakfast, room met our expectations staff were friendly.
Cons: Our room door handle broke one evening and had to get staff to come and open the door for us. They were aware that this room had issues, but the door handle needs to be replaced to prevent this happening again.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel decor was stunning. Bedroom and bathroom was lovely. Location was fabulous.
Cons: Staff were lovely, we ordered a taxi which took well over an hour to arrive, updates were not forthcoming, we had to keep asking where our cab was?

Pros: Breakfast was great, especially the bacon! The room was enormous, much bigger than expected. Will stay there again
Cons: Could not get the tv to work.
7.7 Good
Pros: Comfortable room in a character building. The room was moderately furnished with an excellent modern shower. Went during a cold spell and the heating worked well. Tea and coffee making facilities provided as well as an excellent cooked to order breakfast.
Cons: Some minor issues with room 12. Shower has nowhere to put soap and shampoo. Television is very small for the room.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely clean rooms.
Cons: The only slight mark against was that the room was really hot and although we had a fan in there it was still very hot and too warm for our baby. Openning the window helped but because we were on the corner next to the road it was a little noisy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice place great value for money
Cons: should do and breakfast buffet would be some much better to help cure hangovers lol
6.8 Good
Pros: It was perfectly placed for a wedding we were attending and the breakfast was fantastic. We didn’t spend too much time at this hotel but the rooms were large and spacious and clean.
Cons: As a group we arrived at the property at 2.15ish to check in, after the church service and before the reception which was being held in close proximity to the Inn. When the receptionist finally arrived to check us in she was very short and curt with us, acting as if we were an inconvenience. I checked in and took my bags to the room which was not cleaned from the previous guests. Went back to advise the receptionist and we were met with ‘check in isn’t until 3’. We didn’t realise this but she said we could leave our bags in the wardrobe. The same happened to my sister who was met with ‘have you paid for an early check in?’. I fully appreciate this was missed on our part however if she has communicated this with us prior to check in we would have apologised and asked to leave our bags somewhere as we were due at the reception. We believed check in to be at 2, easy mistake to make. Either way the manner and attitude of the individual checking us in is not what I expect from any customer facing establishment and these initial encounters set the tone for your stay.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was really good!
Cons: Don’t like that only filter coffee was free there was a charge for cappuccino
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved it from the moment we walked through the door from the friendly greeting on reception to the beautiful rooms to the most amazing eggs benedict for breakfast to the perfect village location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable and the staff were amazingly helpful Fantastic home made biscuits too
Cons: I would have like a shower cap!!

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Small and closed in
Cons: Room tiny
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds with nice clean white crisp bedding. The relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff and great breakfast.
Cons: The only thing that I could fault was on arriving that it was not clear were you had to book in as all the staff were so busy in the tea room serving tea and cakes that we had to wait a while not knowing if we were in the right place for booking in. We're as if they had a notice on the desk telling you that it was for booking in for the guest side of tbe business and a bell tfor you to let a member of staff know you were waiting to book in would of been much better.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hole experienced
Cons: Carpark to expensive
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and super helpful and friendly staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: rooftop bar & Restaurant
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Restaurant
Cons: Expensive Had to pay to park our car on top of £150 bill for one night b&b.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Pretty much everything was great. It was a bonus that we had a room looking over the airport, as I am an aviation enthusiast (not the reason for the visit). Breakfast was very good indeed. The staff were excellent.
Cons: I am over six feet tall, and even for me, it was not easy to get into the bath/shower. The small pedal bin in the bathroom was annoying; fiddly to use and noisy, why not just an open bin? A fridge in the room would have been handy. The packed breakfast was poor. The fruit was rotten. No water bottle, though requested. Fruit platter at breakfast had few bananas. If you didn't get in very early, you would miss them. We never saw any. Paying for parking!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was right at the airport and the train station. No rush in the morning worrying about traffic/ transport in time. Only restaurant we saw outside was McDonalds and the rooftop one at the hotel was very busy, however, we took the train into Southend for more choice
Cons: The airport itself had limited landslide facilities. Not a fan of the McDonald’s and the rooftop bar was very busy - although you can reserve tables. In h8ndsight wish we had done this
6.8 Good
Pros: Everything's good accept that there was no option to watch a good movie on Tele... That option should be available for people who wants a movie night in. I also expected a bigger bed in the executive room, they only gave a standard double bed in a executive room. However the room size was big
Cons: The thing I didn't like was that the T.V. didn't have an option to buy movies. Atleast they should have internet available on the smart TV's so people have options.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was so handy. 3 mins to the airport and the train station. I’ve been coming back!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic breakfast,comfy beds
Cons: Windows , didn't like them . Didn't let much light in and was placed at corner of room..should have been in centre
6.3 Good
Pros: It’s conveniently placed next to the airport. The bedrooms are clean and spacious. The reception staff were very nice. The bar staff were friendly but weren’t on top of the game .
Cons: The rooftop bar was very dirty. There were no tables to sit at without large collections of used glasses and plates taking up the space. Having ordered food and bought a drink I asked to sit in the restaurant section where it was quieter and cleaner, but i was told I couldn’t as it was being set up for breakfast (it was 22.00). I found a table in the corner covered in glasses and sat down . My food was served in amongst the used glasses and plates and the waiter didn’t clean my table before placing my meal down. When I left the dirties were still there. The whole bar was a mess and not the nice start to my holiday that I expected.

Cons: Shower just trickled water
7.0 Good
Cons: Could do with freshing up.
6.8 Good
Pros: I got married nearby and we used the room For the bride and bridesmaids to do hair and make up, roomy! Loved the Tudor decor in the outdoor area, unfortunately English weather meant we were unable to enjoy.
Cons: Early check in for guests travelling was not made easy, so made the pre wedding hour a lot More hectic than required.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything about this property was good
Cons: The Indian food could taste better
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was delicious, the staff very helpful and willing to help. Everything was clearly laid out, and our room was very spacious. Even being on a main road you could not hear any traffic noise. Would definitely recommend it.
Cons: The only slight mistake was the fact I had the wrong desert due to allergy. Once the error was spotted, the correct item was brought out at no extra charge and the issue was resolved quickly and efficiently.
6.8 Good
Pros: very nice looking building inside and out.
Cons: Anex room were very dark
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Tranquil setting, very relaxing stay.
Cons: Little disappointed with breakfast. The service was abrupt from the staff who took our order, she didn’t give us a menu with time to choose from the hot menu or explain we could select from the cold buffet and the food didn’t really represent the cost of breakfast.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was perfectly placed for Town. Breakfast perfect!
Cons: Nothing really that we didn't like about it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good size room & very clean. Value for money.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was just fine. I only had cereal, tea and toast but I know that everything about a more substantial breakfast would have been excellent, it's the way Brentwood G.H. does things. The attention to serving my breakfast was A1. I have dysphonia, a voice problem, but managed perfectly as the staff were understanding and patient. It is worth adding this disability and how to cope with it on your training. A paper and pen at reception would help me but perhaps other people would find this intrusive. Next time I will ask for this, if I haven't brought my own with me. This condition varies so can't rely on it being understandable.
Cons: How can excellence be added to? The noise from outside at night was a bit much on Saturday night, perhaps next time I would request a room at the back, especially if I stay on a Sat. night.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The room was very clean
Cons: We were refused our deposit back even though we stuck to all the rules we signed for when we signed in.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly, breakfast was good and not overpriced, rooms were clean and service was overall good
Cons: For some reason my room was on the edge of the free WiFi, so signal was very iffy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Tiny room
