Pros: The location was perfect., and the hosts (Gabriella, her husband, and the cooks and guide, Nydia, Doris, and Alejandro) couldn't have been nicer. Such wonderful service,, and the perfect spot from which to explore San Carlos. This might be my new favorite location in Colombia. And not touristy at all.
Cons: Everything was great. The beds were not the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on, but everything else was perfect. The place looks way better in person than in the pictures.
Pros: The hotel is run by the family. We loved that it is isolated, hidden in the beautiful green region, had no music (usually it is very loud in Colombian hotels). We appreciated great service (we needed lactose-free milk for kids and other items and they went to town to get us some), family like atmosphere, interesting conversation with the owners. There are few safe areas just 2-3 minutes walking distance for bathing in the mountain river. The waterfall are literally 5 minuted walking up the stairs from the hotel. The facilities are old, but function well. Felt like we were hosted by family :)
Cons: Signage to get to the hotel from the road. We got a bit lost on our way there, so signage could be better. No hot water in the shower, so be prepared :)
Pros: The breakfast and lunch were excellent and the service outstanding. The hosts are some of the kindest people I have ever met.
Cons: I would like internet, but I understand and appreciate why it isn't available.
Pros: Thank you to Gabriela and all the team there, so nice and helpful in anything you need. Food was really good, only fresh product. Room was nice, with a balcony and hamacs. Well located for some Hikes around.
Pros: The location was perfect and the included food was nice. It is a very quiet place surrounded by nature and clean air, perfect if you want to rest peacefully.
Cons: The rooms could be a little more spacious. It's important to have hot water available.
Pros: A beautiful property, lovely birds ,waterfalls, flowers and a great place to stay very very relaxing also two pool tables and an open house to walk through as if it’s your own place, the owners make you feel like you are family and the food is superb ,they even made us supper after getting in late unbelievable! Muy bien Casa
Cons: Nothing was bad about it but you will enjoy a cold shower after a hot day of hiking

Pros: The location is amazing! The swimming holes nearby are really beautiful and great to swim in. We had breakfast and dinner at the hostel and Nestor is an amazing cook!
Cons: The building could do with some small repair jobs inside.
Pros: Don Nestor and his family are just excellent. And the Hostal, super economic, is just 1 minute away from the river, really a nice place to have a great time in san Rafael, enjoy the nature, the river, the silence, and more than everything, enjoy the food from Nestor. He's excellent to cook italian pastas !!!! (and much more nice food)
Pros: San Rafael is such a beautiful place that should be on every travellers plan and this hostel is where everyone should stay. The owner is one of the kindest, most generous people you could meet. He was kind enough to show us a hidden waterfall just before we left which was one of the most beautiful we've ever seen. The food at the hostel is absolutely delicious and the neighbours are all so friendly. Definitely one of the best places I've ever been lucky enough to stay.
Pros: The area is paradise, the hosts are incredibly warm, nice and very interesting minds (best discussions), the food is wonderful, the dogs lovely. I really felt like I was “adopted” and well cared for :) hope to back one day! Don’t miss the yoga temple near by!
Pros: Nestor is an awesome host who likes to teach you Spanish. He took us to his house in the village and on a hike to a very nice waterfall, which was amazing :) The hostel is next to a river where you can go swimming
Pros: The family running this hostel is lovely. The children show how to play in the nature like in childhood. The father is lovely person and cares about you all the time. He asks what you like to eat and prepares the best food. The mother is also so kind and you feel home. Stay more than two nights and enjoy a real family life. There's a laguna one minute from the hostel. You can't get closer to the nature. Go and enjoy a break from the speed of life and the hectic travelling.
Cons: WiFi was a bit weak, but the nature around makes WiFi unnecessary.
Pros: Amazing stay! The dorm was big with many beds but when we went it was just us so we had the whole room to ourselves. Short walk to rivers and waterfalls. Very tranquil place. The owner is very talkative and you'll sure have something to talk about with him! We shared some meals together despite only staying for one night. Like everyone else said, shame we couldn't stay longer!
Pros: I honestly did not want to leave this place. The location is just amazing, with 2min down from the river where you can go for a morning swim. Lots of hikes, cascades and swimming places closeby. And the host, Nestor, made sure I had an unforgettable stay!
Pros: Best hostel you can find in colombia. Nestor the host is just too awesome. He made us discover a lot of thing of the colombian culture in is super spacious and great hostel. With him, we went to discover the waterfall nearby and the cocoa field. I think I will remember this experience all my life !
