Pros: Friendly host and cute room
Cons: No private parking and nothing warm to eat for breakfast.
Pros: We liked the kitchen with all food and facilities
Pros: Cozy room. Let us do a load of laundry. Friendly owner.
Pros: great location, very helpful and kind host, super comfortable beds with linen sheets, quiet, nice breakfast-- excellent experience and visit!
Pros: Lovely family-run bed and breakfast in the centre of Falun. It takes around 5 minutes to walk into the town where you can find restaurants etc. in the evening. There is ample parking outside the accommodation and it is easy access onto the main roads in/out of the town. Andreas & Kerstin emailed ahead of time with info about the accommodation and Andreas called on the day we were due to arrive to explain where the keys would be as we were arriving when he was not home. Everything went very smoothly! Andreas is a friendly and knowledgeable host who was happy to talk to us about the local area and give us ideas for things to do (although we were mostly there for the proximity to a ski resort!). He made us all feel really welcome and really boosted our stay. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection, and it was nice to chat to some of the other guests over breakfast time too. The shower is AMAZING (good temperature and a strong flow of water) and just what was needed after a long day every day! The rooms all have their own distinct charm, with enough plug sockets/hooks/cupboard space etc. for what you need. The beds are super comfy and there are extra blankets available should you need them.
Cons: I genuinely loved everything about our stay - the only thing I would say is that the walls of the rooms we were in were relatively thin so you could hear if people were talking in the next room (and vice versa) - however, it made very little difference to us as our group were spread over the two rooms next to each other.
Pros: Helen was so kind and helpful. My friend and I enjoyed her friendliness and the lovely breakfast too! This place is so close to the Copper Mine Museum ....the Falu Gruva. We enjoyed it all very much. Falun is fascinating!
Cons: We liked it all!
Pros: Our host was very accommodating. We were on foot so needed to leave our bags while exploring the area. The beds were comfortable with beautiful linen sheets and great pillows. The shower had amazing water pressure! The location was incredible, just a 5 minute walk from the incredible copper mine. We also adored Carl Larsson House which was a short bus ride away.
Pros: We booked a family room which was spacious for us, a family of four. Well designed and furnished. The location is great, walking distance to the city center as well as the Falun mine. The common shared areas were maintained well at all times - clean, furnished and organised. There is parking that is free nearby.
Cons: Don’t have anything to complain about
When you stay at Gruvortens Bed & Breakfast in Falun, you'll be in the historical district, within a 5-minute drive of Dalarnas Museum and Falun Copper Mine. Featured amenities include coffee/tea in a common area and microwave in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely place in excellent location next to works heritage site. Shory distance to supermarket and town. Great breakfast.
Cons: Shared bathrooms were a little tedious when someone went into the sauna at ten pm and locked all other guests out of the largest section of toilets, sinks and showers for over an hour.
Pros: Can only recommend. It’s so cozy and neat as well in the bedroom as in the general room. Staff is very service minded. Marie has got an eye for every detail! Cleaning is done very well indeed. At night I did enjoy a really hot sauna visit. Breakfast was super. Will come back!
Pros: Absolutely fantastic place!
Pros: I liked the atmosphere, I felt myself home
Pros: Perfect stay
Cons: A toilet in the room would have been good
Pros: Nice cottage central located. has everything you need. just love the place!
Pros: Everything alright. No TV but private sauna :) perfect for holidays, lot of opportunities to practice outdoor activities. Very clean and fully equipped cottage. We recommend it.
Pros: Comfortable, cosy, atmospheric, convenient.
Cons: No breakfast
Pros: Our hosts. Annika and Kjell welcome you, like you are a long lost friend / family member, and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. They are very welcoming, open, friendly people!
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
Pros: Lovely cottage in an beautiful setting managed by a very gracious couple.

You can engage in various activities, such as skiing, golfing and hiking. The bed and breakfast also offers free use of bicycles. Falun Mine is 7 km from Olsbacka Gård, while Lugnet Sports Centre is 10 km away.
Pros: The location in the woods, the decor of the cottage, and the warmth of our hostess.
Pros: Wonderful place in the Swedish countryside. Great breakfast, welcoming hosts and two very friendly dogs :)
Pros: Great house to stay! Up to 4 people. Typical Swedish and lovely interior! Great breakfast and area. Owners are very friendly! If I am back in the area, I know where to stay!
Pros: Very friendly owners that where very helpful and kind. Breakfast was really nice. 20 min to the ski-resort that we were in the area for. Great place to stay.
Pros: Our hosts, the location, the breakfast
Cons: No curtains in our bedroom - woke up at 5 am!
STF Hostel Vassbo is located in green surroundings by Lake Lilla Aspan, 15 km from Falun and 9 km from Borlänge. It offers simply furnished rooms and free WiFi is available throughout the property. At STF Hostel Vassbo, rooms have access to private or shared bathrooms. Guests can relax in the large garden or rent a bike for free to explore the surroundings. Guests have access to a canoe and fishing cards are available for free. Leksand Sommarland Amusement Park is 57 km away. Aspeboda Golf Club is 2.7 km from the hostel.
Pros: Beautiful surroundings, calmness all around
Cons: A bit pricey for a hostel
Pros: Well organised and clean.
Cons: I don't like that the information about extra charges for sheets, breakfast and cleaning comes up so late in the dialog. Booking.com did send out info about breakfast a couple of weeks in advance, the other extra charges came up when we arrived. I would like booking.com to have all this info clearly visible when I compare and choose between different hotels. In this case we might have stayed somewhere else.
Pros: Lovely location friendly staff but not overbearing all round excellent service and value for money
Cons: Nothing it was great will book again next year when we go skiing again
Cons: it doesn't have public transportation access.
Pros: Very clean and quiet location. The host was very kind and the location was fully decorated with Christmas themes. The kitchenette has everything you need for cooking!
Cons: Nothing I can complain about, considering the price.
Located in Falun, Tant Grön B&B is in the suburbs, a 2-minute drive from Runn Lake and 7 minutes from Dalarnas Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely place to stay for the night, lovely hosts and very welcoming and helpful.
Pros: Very comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Quite fast Wi-Fi internet. Parking for your car is very close to the house. Thanks to the owners for hospitality.
Cons: A little bit far away from the center of Falun and from ski stadium. Railway is very close to the house. And you can hear the noise from the trains.
Pros: It was surprising to me that you pretty much share their house with the owners, though they make you feel very welcome. Other B&B's I have visited had the owners live offsite. Here you can walk into their livingroom if you take a wrong door. This kind of made me feel like I was visiting someone's house instead of staying somewhere on vacation. Made me slightly mindful of everything I did, but this might just be my own interpretation. I had a good stay nonetheless. - Friendly and accomodating owners. - Free parking in the neighbourhood. - 10 minute drive to downtown. - Tasty breakfast. - Comfortable bed, good shower, overall nice and clean.
Cons: - No tv in the room. Good wifi though.
Pros: Nice hosts, beautiful and freshly renovated rooms. The cleanliness and freshness of the facilities exceeded our expectations by far. Everything from hand soap to breakfast was organic produce and we had a great night's sleep. We were one vegetarian and one vegan and got a suitable, yummy breakfast.
Cons: The pillows were a bit hard
A stay at Clarion Collection Hotel Bergmastaren places you in the heart of Falun, within a 10-minute walk of Dalarnas Museum and Runn Lake. Featured amenities include a business center, a 24-hour front desk, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: Loved the location, staff, food and drinks!
Cons: It was very hot so we tried to open the window but the lock limited the opening. We were hot. We both got up in the night to get a cold shower so we could sleep.
Pros: Fast check-in and before the usual check-in time so we could freshen up before going out to lunch. Friendly and informative staff. Great central location. Excellent choice at breakfast with lots to choose from. Nice evening meal, which given the usual eating out food prices in Sweden made the cost of the room very desirable. Complimentary fika between 3 and 5 pm in cosy and welcoming reception area. Bag store post check-out. Fairly basic facilities in the room but everything you might need was provided. Nice shower.
Cons: Room was very hot and window opened into the room, so it was hard to have it open at night if you wanted the curtains closed. Fan was provided in room, but we didn't want this on all night and felt it would just move the hot air around.
Pros: People were really nice and helpful. It's in a central location. Very easy to find, and the parking was easy to use. Good toiletries
Cons: The room was hot. Maybe central heating working. The bed is soft, we would prefer a hard mattress. Towels should be bigger. Breakfast is ok, but the room is small for all the tables. Dinner is included, but the food was too salty and spicy. Would have preferred something milder.
Pros: Very helpful receptionist,free parking
Pros: Excellent budget dinner and breakfast included in the room price!
Cons: The hotel charges for parking- although it was cheaper than parking in the street...
Pros: Everything about this hotel was truly exceptional. There was a wide selection of dishes at each meal so you are sure to find something you enjoy. If you need gluten free meals, the young lady in charge of the dining room will show you the foods you can eat. She was so helpful, pleasant and eager to please. The receptionist was happy to find the location of a phone store for me, and like ALL of the staff, she was truly outstanding. Our room was nice, clean and spacious. The hotel would be great for business or vacation trips, and is a super value, too. The Clarion is sure to exceed your expectations and you'd want to return to Falun again. It is a very nice city.
Pros: Pleasant and helpful staff - on reception and in dining room; breakfast and dinner buffets - appetising and plentiful; room was lovely - nicely decorated and very good bathroom; liked the Dala style decor throughout; sitting area - cosy and comfortable- and with coffee & cakes on offer late afternoon; altogether lovely
Cons: We liked everything
A stay at STF Falun Hotel places you in the heart of Falun, within a 10-minute walk of Dalarnas Museum and Runn Lake. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: The Hotel Falun was a perfect place for me. It was spotlessly clean with a wonderful breakfast and exceptionally comfortable bed, and the bus stop for Sundborn and the Carl Larsson house was less than a minute away. The members of staff who looked after me were absolutely wonderful. Emma found the right trains and buses for me, printed up timetables and itineraries, downloaded apps and booked tickets, and all with a smile and the utmost friendliness. She went that extra mile to make my stay in Sweden as smooth and enjoyable as possible. There was another lovely staff member who arranged a packed breakfast for me as I was leaving very early the next morning. It was perfect and lasted me for my day of travel. A special thank you to Emma and the sweet breakfast lady! And thank you to the Hotel Falun. There was also a voucher given for a lovely restaurant in town, so I received a discount!
Pros: Great location just one block off the river walk which leads to the ferry to Old town. It has great charm and character and the room while a bit small was so comfortable and quiet even with a window overlooking the main street. We had a great view of Falun Cathedral and strolled along the river for dinner in old town and back. The staff was so friendly and informative! We would definitely stay again. There is a few limited parking spaces on site if you are early enough to grab one, otherwise there is a parking house just a few blocks away.
Pros: Friendly and helpfull staff. The room was clean and perfect for my purposes. Although I did not eat breakfast, it looked scrumptious and good. I also liked the all day coffee and fica.
Pros: Location, clean, friendly staff, good breakfast
Cons: Pillows are not comfortable, you can hear people from the room and out side.
Located in Falun, Samuelsdals Pensionat is next to a golf course, a 3-minute walk from Samuelsdals Golfklubb and within a 5-minute drive of Falun Copper Mine. Featured amenities include laundry facilities, coffee/tea in a common area, and microwave in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We had a wonderful trip. The house is very homely, cosy, and welcoming. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We were upstairs, and like the shared lounge and tea/coffee area, it made the trip very sociable. The breakfast was excellent. A wide variety of food and drink. I particularly like the waffle iron and just of waffle mixture. I've never had freshly made waffles before, just the rubbish you buy in the shops, and these homemade ones were amazing! I wish we could have stayed longer. I will definitely be visiting again.
Cons: The building has lots of character and as a result the lovely wooden floors are very squeaky, so we had to tip-toe about to avoid making too much noise. Not a problem, but something to be aware of. We still loved the place.
Pros: Staff was really helpful and things sorted out in english very well! If we are ever coming back to Falun, we'll have a place to come back to!
Pros: A nice accomodation a bit outside of Falun. We had a room in one of the cottages. Good kitchen but do not miss out to eat at least once the breakfast in the main building!! Really deliceous choices!
Cons: For those, who are hiking, it is about 40 mins walking from Falun center
Pros: Great breakfast, great location, the rooms were great and overall great value for money.
Cons: Check-in system without the personnel felt slightly peculiar since I was not sure where to get the key from. Luckily there was staff there to help me.
Pros: THE BREAKFAST WAS OK NOTHING SPECIAL BUT MORE THAN ENOUGH TO EAT,JUST SOMETHING MISSING?
Pros: Breakfast was great.
Located in Falun, Falu STF Vandrarhem is a 1-minute drive from Runn Lake and 7 minutes from Dalarnas Museum. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: They left the key in a safe box that we could check in outside of the check-in time.
Cons: The room wasn't clean when we moved in! There were still used bedlinen from the previous guests there and the room wasn't tidy!!
Pros: Clean room, super helpful staff, and smooth check-in/-out process. Short distance into the city center. Definitely fit our needs.
Pros: Location, Clean, good facilities
Pros: Everything was perfect. Rooms were spacious, clean. Kitchen was tidy. Recommend.
Pros: The staff was very friendly, kitchen was well equipped, even the knifes were sharp
Cons: one really special thing to add is perhaps sauna?
Pros: It's like at home - you can cook your own food
Cons: It's like at home - you have to make your own bed. (+ 20€ for linens
Pros: The location is ok. Don't forget to bring your own bedlinnen and towels, 95 kronor for renting is not cheap. Read carefully what is included and what is not. Clean your room yourself with provided stuff by the hostel it safes you 140 kronor

Pros: The appartment was wery cosy. And with a great wellcoming too. Candles is a really good idea.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: The breakfast was good and also lady was nice.
Cons: I didn’t like shared bathroom eve though I knew I can expect it. Also I didn’t know when the reception is opened. Lady was very responsive via Booking messages.
Located in Falun, Främby Udde Resort is on a lake, a 1-minute drive from Runn Lake and 8 minutes from Dalarnas Museum. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Very helpful staff and really great location. Beautiful place. Very good shower. Big comfortable balcony Drying cabinet at home it's great for raining weather.
Cons: Basically, the things a bothered me were little, but it was they who made the living not too comfortable: Wi-Fi was disconnecting all the times, the staff even gave us the password of other, closest to us, house, but it's also was disconnecting. The stairs to the second floor are very steep and uncomfortable. The double bed was made up of two, slightly separated single beds, and both nightlights for some reason hung over its center. The house is designed for four people, there were three of us. One single-door wardrobe in which there is only one shelf, and the rest is the hanger it's clearly not enough for three people. There was a chest of drawers on the second floor, but it was problematic to take the suitcase to the second floor from behind the stairs. There are many sockets, but for some reason the majority is located under the ceiling. Bed linen and cleaning after departure are not included in the price and are paid separately. The issued linen and towels did not include a rug that can be placed near the shower There was no bin or pendant for the garbage bag in the toilet.
Pros: The location was really good. About 6km from the centre of town and about 2km to the nearest supermarket. The lake was a beautiful view from my cottage and the beds were very comfortable. The WiFi was fast and the television was welcome as it was raining. The check in and check out was effective and simple. The keys and instructions were left in a security box and I had to leave them there when I left. I did not actually see any staff at all during my stay.
Cons: The cottage I stayed in looked clean initially, however when I took out a plastic bowl, there were traces of food left in it. Also I could only find one small plate and one large glass (the cottage is for 2 people) I tried to work the touch screen stove but the ring would not heat up. I don’t know if it was broken or not as there were no instructions anywhere to tell me how to work it. I ended up cooking in the microwave which isn’t ideal. When I came to leave the property, I wanted to mop the floor, however despite providing a mop pole, there was no mop head to use! The cloths left for me to clean the cottage were dirty so I had to clean the kitchen with a cloth that a previous guest may have cleaned the toilet with!!
Cons: We had to wash some items of crockery and cutlery before using them, as they were not very clean
Housed in a converted prison from 1850, Falu Fängelse Vandrarhem offers unique accommodation in old prison cells. This hostel, 20 minutes’ drive from Borlänge, offers free Wi-Fi and free private parking. Dormitory rooms at Falu Fängelse have 2 or 4 beds with shared bathroom facilities in the corridor. Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, as well as a common TV room. BBQ equipment is available in the furnished pavillion. The hostel features a museum with free entrance on the basement level. It contains prison cells and historical pieces from the prison’s operational period from 1850 until 1995. Located 2 km from Falun Central Station, Falu Fängelse Hostel is also a 10-minute walk from Lugnet Sports Centre. Staff can recommend area activities such as golf, fishing, skiing and hiking.
Pros: Great atmosphere and great value for the money we paid. The staff was extremely helpful - the lady at the reception opened the museum in the afternoon for us (and the museum is something you cannot miss spending your time in this hotel!). I really recommend it - it was one of the most interesting hotels I've visited. Close to the city center and offers very good quality breakfast.
Cons: You need to know what you expect from staying in the old prison building - but if you are prepared everything will be great!
Pros: Very good breakfast. Thrilling building and a fine/horrifying prison museum!
Pros: The access and communication were nice.
Cons: The room was really small for 4 peoples.
Pros: Everything else. Free hot drinks. Clean kitchen. The decor. Comfy seating indoors and out. Comfy beds. Friendly staff. Hot showers. Museum on the premises. Short walk to train, bus and shopping.
Cons: A lot of potential hidden charges (sheet hire, room cleaning...) meaning when you left there was always a niggle that more would be charged to your card.
Pros: Very friendly staff, very good breakfast buffet with a lot of choice. Good, comfortable warm showers. Everything clean. Well equipped kitchen.
Pros: Location Excellent breakfast
Cons: It still felt like a prison.
First Hotel Grand is located in central Falun, near shopping, restaurants and bars. The Central Station is only 5 minutes' walk from the hotel. Most of the rooms where renovated in 2015 and designed with inspiration from Falun's cultural heritage. All rooms are furnished with quality Jensen beds. Falun's only full-service hotel, First Hotel Grand offers extensive conference facilities, a restaurant and bar. The breakfast buffet is complimentary and offers a wide selection and home-baked bread. Guests also enjoy complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel. Parking is available right outside the premises and at an indoor parking garage.
Pros: Having a pub with food on site. Near to train station and to food and drink.
Cons: No tea or coffee in the room., Felt a bit worried walking to and from nightclub at night
Pros: We stayed to one night. This hotel has an excellent location, good breakfast & helpful staff.
Pros: Comfortable beds
Cons: Slightly outdated decor.
Pros: Really good breakfast. Croissants ran out one day, but were soon replaced. Very central. Close to the railway station and all amenities.
Pros: Always ticks the box when visiting family in Falun Staff great and location close to town.
Cons: Some of the rooms still need updating.
Stay with a pool and gym in the same building. Just a few steps from Lugnet’s large sports and leisure complex. Yet only a 10-minute walk from central Falun.
Cons: Too bad the gym wasn't better equipped and that the pool was closed for renovation. The bar closed at 11 pm, a bit too early.
Pros: Breakfast was superb probably the most extensive I have ever seen
Cons: The place could do with a makeover as the rooms do not have safes and the air con is a fan
Pros: The staff were generally helpful and friendly
Cons: The rooms were not cleaned as standard. I thought this was ridiculous paying nearly €800 over a four night stay. I had to ask for new sheets and towels on the final night. The hotel is charging enough money during the Sabaton Open Air festival to make sure people's rooms are cleaned every day.
Located in Insjon, Insjöns Hotell is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of Leksand Sommarland and Leksand Golf Club. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Perfect for a one-night stay with our 6-month old son, who slept very well in his own bed. Also very close to the train station!
Cons: The room keys are attached to this extravagant lumpy plumb-bob thing. Very unpleasant to keep in your pocket. Seriously need to upgrade to keycards. Some of my windows were missing curtains, including the bathroom.
Pros: breakfast was good, room is ok
Cons: the man at the reception looked depressed, no smile in the evening nor in the morning
Pros: It was only a short walk from the trainstation. Very friendly staff and beautifully situated. It is the only hotel in town but you don't need to look elsewhere anyway. Thanks.
Pros: location was ok Wifi was ok
Cons: My room was very poor, dusty and very old furniture. the bathroom was also very old fashion. in the evening there is nothing to do. I travel a lot, but last 10 years, I haven't seen a room like this. Dinner was acceptable but too expensive for the food you get.
Pros: very nice location
Cons: very old room and furniture, bathroom is cold
Pros: Breakfast was supposed to be available until a certain hour but its freshness did not match the whole period.
Cons: The general atmosphere was welcoming but a clear shortage of staff was apparent in the reception as well as the dining room
Pros: The location. The beds, though narrow, were comfortable. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The weather was good too (excuse me for being facetious!)
Cons: We had expected a higher standard. There was not much storage space, no drawers, except for small drawers in the bedside tables, with a cupboard and shelves beneath. The "comfort tray" was very basic. No small fridge. Toiletries consisted of two small plastic tubes of shampoo/body wash (rather nice), that was all. The handwash liquid was a cheap brand from the local Hemköp - it could have been put in a neutral bottle instead, perhaps? There was only one hook in the shower room, on the door, which made it difficult to store toilet bags. Breakfast was OK, with lovely coffee, but watered-down orange juice. Nice bread. The first morning the soft-boiled eggs were excellent, the second morning the whites were not fully cooked.
