Cons: Bathroom looked clean but smelled little like mildew.
Pros: It was clean, the service was great, the breakfast was delicious! Plus they were very fast at picking you up, and taking you to the airport via shuttle. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.
Pros: I arrived to a warm, recently renovated, lobby. Check in management was wonderful and accommodating: I was asked which floor I'd prefer to stay on; when I asked for water, I was given 2 bottles free for the room. Nice warm cookies, fresh fruit, and coffee in break area. The room was clean, quite, and the stay was excellent. In the morning, the breakfast bar had everything (best self-service I've ever seen). I needed airport shuttle and Monica was terrific - I will definitely stay here again!

Pros: Nice large room with refrigerator and microwave. Beds were comfortable.
Cons: Shower hardly drained, rather lame for a motel at this price. Lots of pillows, but no variation in thickness. Hard for those of us with neck problems. A bit noisy, dogs barking in room near us and people coming in in the middle of the night talking and laughing loudly. Useless one cup coffee machine. They have free coffee in the check in area, but I would rather have coffee and wake up in my room without having to get dressed and go out. Even though I brought my own coffee with me, the tiny one cup coffee maker was unusable as it is designed for the packets of coffee (which are terrible). Why bother?
Pros: I was probably most surprised by the extensive breakfast options. Staff was amazing. There was a cute gazebo. I used the hot tub twice.
Cons: The room smelled heavily of air freshener. I like scent free rooms. Sometimes heavy smells like that give me a migraine. It was so intense I aired the room out for a while when I checked in.
Pros: Motel was as it should be. Staff was courteous and polite.
Cons: Breakfast was mediocre, but I'm probably looking for a healthier breakfast than I should expect to get at a chain hotel.
They were doing construction on the rooms next to us, and although they didn't start at too unreasonable of a time, it was unexpected on the weekend.

Pros: The staff at the front desk work overly friendly and concerned about my happiness
Pros: Room was great, the restaurant was surprisingly good, the guy at the check out counter in the am was very professional and had a warm smile.
Cons: Girl at the counter upon check in, I think Samantha. We were the only ones checking in, no greeting, no eye contact, I had to initiate a response by asking "how are you" to which she responded I am good, and then continued her conversation with the other front desk girl and the guy with the blue rubber gloves on, I am assuming the housekeeper. Listen guys, you can make or break a stay just by the first impressions, how you are greeted, if you feel welcome. We felt like an inconvenience checking in, this is not a good feeling. Your facility is nice, however, I will stay at the casino in Trinidad next time for sure.
Pros: Overall the room was great. There were 2 of us so the room was perfect. Beds were comfortable. Good location for visiting up and down the coast. I will definitely stay at there hotel again. My son enjoyed the pool. Room was well insulated, I didn't hear any noise from other rooms. Just people talking or pulling luggage by the room (at reasonable time ). We had a upstairs room.
Cons: First weekday morning for breakfast ( around 8:30am) there was about 8 people getting breakfast, both coffee pots empty, oatmeal empty, yogurt empty, 2 front counter staff, 1 just stood there, the other was talking to a woman applying for a job and answering the phone. Not the best breakfast set up location. The next day was a little better.
Pros: Updated rooms
Bed was in good condition
Pool and Jacuzzi were working
Cons: Fridge temperature knob broke off
Weird shaped pillows
Round table which was great for eating and talking with friends was removed during renovation
Pros: Very friendly service, clean rooms!
Cons: The beds could be more comfortable.
Located just off Hwy 101, near the Arcata Airport and the downtown Arcata Plaza. Situated between the Pacific Ocean and the Redwood forest. Close to historic old town Eureka and boutique shopping. Close to Humboldt State University. Short drive to seaside town of Trinidad. A valid credit card or a 100 USD cash deposit is required upon check-in.
Pros: Due to it's age, it has some character. It is in a very good location. Very centralized.
Cons: Everything in it is old. It doesn't feel historical, and charming (which is what i was hoping for). it is next to 3 dive bars, and the plaza in the middle looses its appeal as it is constantly populated by homeless looking young adults smoking weed the whole time. All of this contributes to the hotel's loss of charm.
Pros: historic and convenient
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this hotel is located in the city centre of Arcata, California. A restaurant and bar are featured on site. Each guest room here comes with a cable TV and a coffee machine. The private bathrooms are equipped with a cast-iron claw foot bath and a brass showerhead. A 24-hour front desk, meeting or banquet facilities, and vending machines can all be found at this hotel. Free WiFi access is provided at Hotel Arcata. A number of dining and shopping options can be reached within 5 minutes’ walk. Humboldt State University is 12 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
Cons: I got charged for a trip I didn't even take.
Pros: Place was clean, staff was helpful. No frills, but for the price its tough to beat.
Cons: A good preparation for dorm life
Pros: The rooms were nice, clearly updated recently. The design was fun and inviting. We were impressed with the cleanliness and decor for such a good price. We will stay here again.
Pros: The price of course always helps with a budget crunch. The rooms were remodeled and clean. The location was a bit far from downtown arcata, but a great bike ride there.
Cons: I could hear the people next door argue like at 1 am and could here everything. I received a phone call prior to getting to the motel by a front desk clerk pressing me about showing up and how the motel was overbooked, I don't need to hear the hotel problems? On the good side the same couple that was arguing the night before had passionate sex at 6 am. The reason I know is because I could hear EVERYTHing! Low key it did turn me on and I smashed the girl sleeping next to me right after :/
Motel 6 Arcata-Humboldt University is within walking distance to area restaurants. Visit our California beaches within 9 miles. Sequoia Park Zoo is only 12 miles. Enjoy our outdoor pool. Wi-Fi is available in all of our modern rooms for a small fee.
The Fairwinds Motel is an accommodation in Arcata, California where distance is better expressed in minutes, not miles. It is located by the 101 Freeway along the California North Coast right next to the Humboldt State University in the heart of the Redwood Country between the Humboldt Redwoods State Park and the Redwood National Park, home of the world tallest trees and other nature attractions, all of those can be reached in less than 60 minutes of driving. The motel rooms are clean and comfortable with free wireless internet so you can do business while relaxing.
Cons: Minimal staffing, and the office appears to shut down completely sometime before 11pm. Be prepared to breathe tobacco and/or cannabis smoke all night, even in a non-smoking room. The ventilation system is saturated with it. Wash all your clothing in hot water when you get home.
Pros: The free breakfast was good. It was clean and comfortable.
Cons: We were only there one night. The cops went thru the parking lot twice with their sirens on. The cleaning staff knocked on our door twice to check our carpet.
Pros: Reasonable price for a good nights stay. Complementary coffee and breakfast foods. Nice receptionists and overall friendly customer service. Thank you!
Pros: Location; Price
Cons: Hair on the sheet and pillows; leaky faucet (puddle under the sink); uncomfortable bed and pillows; no sound proofing

Pros: Really great heaters/ac units, comfortable beds, nice heated pool & jacuzzi, pet friendly, helpful staff, drink & snack vending machines, decent breakfast. Overall a great motel for the price considering the amenities, far better than others I've stayed at in the area for the same price.
Cons: Rooms could be cleaner- had to ask for clean sheets upon inspection & walls were dirty in some places & the mirror wasn't cleaned properly.
Pros: Laid back vibe, staff very nice, something nice about this place, hot tub is nice, pool is now heated and comfortable, I like the like of pretension among both staff and guests. Overall very nice place for what I am looking for.
Cons: some minor things were broken or not replaced, continental breakfast was better when I stayed here last time
Pros: Right off the 101.
Cons: Back in February the Front desk guy did not want to print out my receipt for my expense reports. He rudely asked why I needed it and why I could not just print it myself from email. (Like I should stop at a local library or Kinkos on my business trip or what?) I asked if he would print it while I packed my car up and when I returned he again had a snarky comment and no receipt for me saying he isn't allowed to print it. I asked for a manager and finally the desk guy printed my receipt. Fast forward a month and I'm back only to discover i have been blacklisted from this red roof inn for wanting my receipt printed out. Stay away from this place.
Pros: Room was adequate, everything worked. Affordable, had pool and breakfast. Close to freeway and my mom.
Cons: Stale smell in hall, lots of smokers outside. Looks a little rundown, like it's seen better days. Breakfast was minimal, no protein, not restocked so ran out of things. Pool heater was broken, and pool and spa not open in AM.
Pros: Pros The stay was only 1 night
Very noisy, our room was next to an exit door and it was unbelievably LOUD, every time someone went in or out the door it was like they were banging on our wall.
We reserved a deluxe room, but got a standard room, when I called the front desk they said they didn't have any other rooms and to speak to management in the morning. Management offered a $10 refund, with no explanation why we didn't get a deluxe except someone else must have complained about their room so they got switched to another leaving us with the undesirable room.
No Customer Service.
facility is a little shabby
Homeless man sleeping on sidewalk outside a door
grounds are in terrible shape
Cons: No one at the front desk for a long time at check in, pool was very cloudy and dirty, hot tub was broken...would not stay again or recommend!
Pros: Motel is close to free way with easy access to Arcata & Redwoods. Very reasonable cost. Good free breakfast. Friendly staff.
Cons: Grounds outside the building were not well kept. A fast food restaurant adjacent to one parking area.
Pros: The staff were thoughtful enough to put us in a room with minimal noise...
Cons: ...Unfortunately, one of our neighbors was practicing guitar and playing loud music and most floors smelled of weed... Perhaps recommend to guest to switch to edibles next time!
Pros: The staff were friendly. The room was clean and no strange smell. We were traveling from Seattle to San Jose and had a stop in Arcata to drop of our son at the University. We decided to stay here and had no issues. We thought it was a good experience so we booked a room on the way home. I will definitely stay here again.
Cons: Only 2 pillows but that is a personal thing and when we asked they gave us more.
Pros: The heated pool was awesome. Nice room. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Excellent wifi signal.nothing
Cons: Nothing bad to say.
Pros: Best rates in town. Not too far from downtown and right next to city bus stop that only costs $1 to get downtown. Easy access to grocery/bank/restaurants. Comfortable and modern rooms. Mostly young hippies at this hotel so can get a little rowdy at night but mostly laid back atmosphere.
Cons: Waffle maker. And breakfast ends at 9.
