the exterior of the building was very nice and quaint and the location was great the staff was not helpful and bordered on rude. the room was old and deteriorating. service was poor. very expensive given the quality of the hotel. should be rated with 2 stars, not 4
friendliness of staff, quality of food, cleanliness of room, total peace.
View from room. Evening meal in restuarant was over-priced and of a poor standard. Room was basic and small, out-dated in decor, and not worth the money.
the bed's are very large and comfitable, location no lift,
Beautiful surroundings and lovely hotel, lovely stripped wooden floors in bar and restaurant with lovely open fire. Very comfortable. I liked the deserts but didn't think the main course (I had salmon and my husband had the Indian spiced chicken) was worth the amount of money they charged.
helpful staff room was rather on the small side for a 5 day stay, could have alloctated a room with enough space to unpack 5 days clothes and suitcase storage
Stayed in a Deluxe Room, but would not class it as that. Room size was ok but no better than a Standard Room. Bed was excellent but very poor shower. Shower was a "trickle", breakfast was average and eating arrangements were disjointed.
Nice friendly hotel with a good mix of people running it. Bedroom excellent. Two of the three dining areas were busy and cosy. No real complaints.
everything except.. the sloping ceiling caused me a nasty bang on the head! My fault but hard lesson!
Lack of in-room internet.
Beauitiful old building with many original features Room was small with only basic facilities, bathroom needed updating
The food was just yummy and the staff were wonderful. We stayed in the bothy across from the main hotel and the room was comfortable and cosy. We enjoyed having our own door which opened out onto the lawn. Great for the dog. We will try our best to come back as soon as possible. Nothing.
the hotel is in a nice location ,the lounge was nice ,and the dining room also. the staff were nice the room was very old fashioned, the shower was over the bath, with no rubber mat, very slippery !and no pressure in the shower head, there was no lights on outside the front door,or on the seating area outside the lounge at night , with nettles growing in the flower pots! there was no vegertarian meals on the dinner menu, had to ask for something to be made up.Not worth paying extra for superior room upgrade!
Lovely Lounge with a log fire Bedroom a bit disappointing for a 4 Star hotel
The hotel was clean, convenient and nicely positioned the bed was particularly firm
Deirdre and I like the hotel very much, we enjoyed ourselves there and also celebrate our wedding anniversary, (39 years) a life sentences, on the day we arrived there, 23th October 2010. We couldn't find fault we it,
location very limited menu choice of 4 items on the Monday choice of only 2 items on the Wednesday Not good enough for fine dining@£30 per head
Quiet and peacefull Dinner plates were not hot at times
The fact that dogs were allowed
The food was outstanding as was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The mood was relaxed and cared for. A most enjoyable break. The bathroom was not up to the excellent standard of everything else. The shower did not work very well and the flow of water was poor.
Family visit ti Grantown
What a pleasure it is to encounter a traditional British hotel that understands that knows the difference between comfort and quality as against superficial 'flash' and excessive provision of so called luxury smellies, sweets, facile consumer mags and other litter. At the Grant Arms Hotel more substantial qualities are deeply engrained, topped off by it classy specialisation in wildlife watching and outdoor visits. However, I can imagine spending a happy short break here during wet windy weather, being entertained all the time playing games, making jigsaws, reading books (from the hotel's excellent collection), sampling the many fine whiskeys - then there is the good food, talks and films...
Excellent family room for 4...great to have separate twin beds for the kids to get a good sleep!
The staff were very friendly and keen to help at all times
Good standards and facilities, room was very clean and comfortable and staff were genuine and helpfull. The birds chirping cd gets annoying.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value for money Internet connection poor
Outstanding Hotel with the staff, reception, room and meals all exceptional value. Will definately stay there again and use your service again! None
Arriving late evening it was so welcoming to have a receptionist who looked pleased to see us and took plenty of time over explaining the layout and facilities of the hotel. North East accent in Scotland!!
The location n/a
Beautiful garden, nice area Untrained/unprofessional staff in bar/pub
Cleanliness and surroundings
Good efficient reception and helpful dining room staff Carpeting in bedrooms and en suite badly stained and in need of replacement. Exterior decor in need of repainting
Nice friendly atmosphere, pleasant and helpful staff, pleasant ambiance open fires, very welcoming, superb location. Can't think of anything
Excellent value for price. Attentive staff at breakfast. Lack of internet access.
The staff were welcoming, and the hotel had warm, old-fashioned character, in a beautiful setting
Spacious with a beautiful view. As family accommodation it was excellent. The extra tv/dvd player was an added bonus. Nothing
Size of room and family room layout Apallingly uncomfortable basic spring beds: spoiled the pleasure the room could have given. Menu was disappointing and we decided to eat out.
lovely atmosphere, welcoming fire in foyer felt like being in someones living room. staff very helpful in particular Pedro, who was always willing to help. Very typical of scottish hospitality, easy going, informal and homely in a victorian hotel, which still retained a lot of its victorian character, in particular the lift and entrance door, which we loved. The restaurant menu was a little limited on the Sunday night. But what we had was good, would have liked a little more choice, perhaps some local beef, lamb, or pork?
Everything was fine Need for internet access
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, the food was fantastic and the hotel was extremely clean
This is an old hotel which has been refurbished. Two points that should be addressed are:the noisy floor-boardsand the lack of sound proofing between rooms which can inhibit sleep.Breakfast food and choice excellent.Evening meals of variable quality.Very helpful hard-working ,efficient Scottish staff.Could have been warmer during cold spell.
The food was good The bar and hotel closed 11 pm
Overall comfort of Room - Bathroom and Shower Facilities. First Class Breakfast Menu
All okay None.
hotel staff were very helpful and friendly Had trouble flushing toilet
Evenng meal was lovely, although perhaps a little over-priced.
Initial reception extremly welcoming and all other staff very friendly and helpful. We have a dog and again we felt that she was welcome too. All other aspects of the service excellent.
The service and staff were excellent. We unfortunately had to leave a day early due to a breakdown of our van, and they refunded our last night even though it was past 8pm when we notified them. The hotel wasnt very disabled friendly, due to steps, length of corridor to room etc, however they tailored our stay be letting us use fire doors etc, and so they accomodated us excellently. And we are greatful for this, espicially as we had our large dog with us and they didnt mind!
Well-situated hotel in an old building but with some modern Scottish touches and a friendly ambience. Good breakfast with very attentive and courteous service. Quite noisy at times but it didn't spoil our stay and is acceptable for a converted building at this price point.
Val, the proprietor was a fund of local knowledge and help. She gave good recommendations on which local businesses gave good value for money. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for her.
Extremely welcoming, warm, relaxing. Beautiful rooms, exceptional use of space and fittings in en suite bathroom. Very considerate landlady. Highly highly recommended.
Excellent breakfast; engaging and helpful hostess
Excellent B&B; very nice room (perfect for family with kids); wonderful breakfast; good value Bigger sign pointing to B&B (hard to find, esp. at night)
Bathroom Seperate from Room not a good Idea. No privacy to Bathroom.
Good sized room with good facilities and shower, Excellent breakfast None really
The room was excellent and the bathroom was a five stars one. Nothing.
The bathroom was particularly well equipped.
Lovely area. Very friendly hosts. Two weeks touring Scotland. Hotel and B and B's. This was the most expensive.
Warm and friendly welcome. Very clean and comfortable. Our hosts were extreamly helpful. No chairs in the bedroom. Need a handrail at the main entrance for physically limited people.
well run , friendly but not intrusive. Very clean.
Friendly staff clean rooms and good facilities Glass doors on ensuite did not allow any privacy when using tiolet
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice was brilliant.
Friendly welcome from managers, clean & comfortable room, mugs for in-room tea & coffee rather than tiny wee cups! Bathroom & loo were on different floor from bedroom
Very central. Accommodation good, clean and comfortable. Staff helpful and efficient Breakfasts good and well prepared and presented. Entance to car park hazerdous.
breakfast i had a room at the front- noisy in early morning with big trucks
Very clean, comfortable, all staff very efficient and helpful. meals excellent. Very enjoyable stay
The hotel was in a lovely area. I found the staff completely imcompetent. The rooms cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
Excellent meal. Size of room.
The restaurant, the food and service The room for the price was a disgrace, it was an attic room with a low ceiling and it was impossible to get hot water in the bath or shower, the attitude of the reception staff was that it was not a problem, but as the shower tap was impossible to turn and the hot water tap did not produce any water this had not just happened. AG
Staff very friendly and helpful, gave me extra teabags etc - only 2 provided. Nice situation and views. Liked a walk-in shower rather than the shower over the bath. I had asked form groundfloor, but took 1st floor as told there was a lift. However there was a long corridor with sets of steps, difficult for my husband walking with 2 sticks, and for pulling the suitcase We ordered dinner for 7.30 but several items on the menu were not available.
the noise in the restaurant due to the group (no specifique room for them)
Looks good from the outside Didn't know it was a tour bus hotel otherwise we would not have stayed there. Food wasn't good.
Helpfull staff Twin bed room was not large enough to take an extra bed as requested, had to have family room that had no water so given an extra room to shower in, so got there in end but meant a mix up for first hour moving rooms!
Very comfortable, friendly and clean. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Restaurant was top quality with a good menu and excellently cooked food. Great easy access to the Cairngorm mountains Room was cramped and bathroom very poor with loose towel rail and a tiny space. Very few facilities - one piece of soap for two people. Not really up to standar for such a high priced room.
