Process for renting very eas Rental process easy, staff friendly and helpful with luggage. Bus for pick up and drop off readily available. Attractive new car.

Cons:

The car only had 1400 miles on it but when sitting at a light it would frequently feel like it was going to stall. Fortunately it never did. In addition, I returned the car early due to the coronavirus and was told I would get money back for the early return but later found out that you would only give me a credit. I was not happy as this was my first car rental in 5 years and i have no trips planned for the next 12 months. i wouldn't have returned it early if there wasn't a pandemic and think the company should be more flexible than their "normal" policy of providing credits... think you should reconsider your policy due to circumstances.

The day before my scheduled pick up, the Boca Raton branch called to let me know that there may be a shortage of cars and to call the day I arrived to see if my requested car was available. I called multiple times that day but no answer. Also realize that Kayak allowed me to make a reservation for a 5pm pickup, however the location closed at 5pm so if I showed up a few minutes late I wouldnt have been able to pick it up. The booking system should not allow reservations to be made at the locations closing time. As a result I did not pick up the rental. I did not hear from the rental location either, and ended up using Uber for my entire trip.

Cons:

Made a reservation at one location, called day prior to confirm. They told me the reservation would be honored at an office closer to my home. Called the number they gave me, second office said there was another office closer to my home. Called third office, was told by a young man named Marshall that he would call me tomorrow (day of pickup) to confirm. Never heard from him, called third location when I was en route to pick up, they told me they couldn't honor my reservation, didn't have the vehicle. Called first office, they didn't have vehicle either but said one was scheduled for return, with unknown return time. Fortunately one came in and I was able to get it. Not a fun experience.

getting a ride from airport took half an hour, initial phone contact number didn't pick up, 17 callers wait for call to be answered. At drop off in early morning the office was closed, fortunetly one of the hotel workers saw me and another woman and told us where to park and drove us to airport.There should have been a sign at door directing to Hotel.

Took forever for the shuttle to arrive. The people getting off of the shuttle told me good luck getting a car. When we got to the rental car facility, the customers that were already there had been waiting so long to get their cars, I called an Uber instead so I didn’t miss my appointment. Since it was a non refundable rental, I lost my money.

I was able to choose the exact car I wanted and was even able to reserve a cooler and boogie board to use for the week. The car was in like-new condition. The free shuttle was convenient, fast and the drivers were nice. The location was a little bit further from the airport, but it wasn't a problem.

It was the first time we rented via Turo, so I don't have a good base reference to compare in general, and can only compare to car rental experiences with commercial fleets (like Budget or Enterprise). In general it was okay -- we made it to where we were going and back, with no major issues. It's doable. However, there were some "surprises" where things didn't quite got as we expected: * We made rental reservation with expectation that we're picking up at the airport. When we got there, it turned out that the car is not at the airport, and the address given to us turned out to be what seemed to be Portland's airport Fire Rescue Tower (where, obviously, we can't even walk to or be at). We called the owner, and turned out that the car is at some house that's "not far" from the airport, and gave us new address. So additional expense of taking Uber/Lyft to get to the car (and apparently that address exists in two neighboring towns, and somehow Uber/Lyft took us first to the wrong one, so we had to take another ride, but that's not a Turo issue, just more expense as a consequence of car not being at the airport as promised). * When we got there, we called the owner to get the keys: "-- Keys are under front door's floormat. -- Nope, they're not there. -- Then try mailbox? -- Yes, they're there." The owner wasn't there, which is okay to do this all remote, but would be nicer if owner was in general "on top of things" such as where the car is and where it is expected to be picked up, where exactly are its keys, etc. * Then owner requested that prior to return we take the car to be washed and cleaned inside and out. We neither planned on looking for car detailing places in Portland, nor for time that it would take away from sightseeing, nor for extra substantial expense it would be. We pushed back and the owner backed off saying that he'll let it go due to confusion with pickup location (and apparently he didn't send some email that he was supposed to send, or something along those lines). * And while the car wasn't too dirty, it wasn't clean to begin with (which made detailing request that more amusingly odd). Crumbs on floor and seats and luggage compartment. Worst part was that windshield was dirty on the inside that was minor unpleasant at daytime, but as driving progressed into night time, it was quite significant as it was blurring lights and affected visibility substantially. * We also added additional driver thru Turo and let the owner know. The owner requested that we send him picture of drivers license directly to him. We refused (as it didn't seem right, given that Turo is the one that manages that aspect) and he backed off. * Of course, additional expense of Uber/Lyft after return drop-off as we weren't dropping it off at the airport as originally planned. So all in all we probably spent additional $50-60 in Uber/Lyft for getting to and from cars location instead of it being in the airport, and lost about 3+ hours for dealing with additional unplanned travel. The rest was okay. Car drove fine and didn't give any problems.
