Excellent meals and service in the Asian and Mexican restaurants. (Didn’t return to the Italian restaurant after the first night, since my wife's steak was too salty to eat and she didn’t want to risk it again.) Lunchtime Shore Grill and La Cevicheria also very good. The activities staff (Efraim, Julio, Jorge, Sebastian and others) were friendly and enthusiastic, but their offerings were limited, compared to others where we've stayed, by the lack of open space on this narrow strip of property, and almost daily private events took what little was there during our week-long stay. Very nice gym facilities. Pool temperature was comfortably warm, even during this December visit. Liquor quality and selection was very good, though the mixing was inconsistent, so you never really knew how anything more complicated than well drinks were going to taste. Bars in Mexico without fresh bananas? Really? Two large corporate conventions/events during the week we were there blocked access to the volleyball court five days (and counting when we left yesterday). A nighttime event was roped off right below our window, with massive speakers blasting us until 11 p.m., making it nearly impossible to hear the TV. They need to decide whether they want to be an oceanside resort or a convention center. Many others we talked with also felt like second-class guests, just filling the space around the conventions. Every day, heavy equipment worked on and around the narrow strip of rocks that is their "beach," right below the pools, trying to build huge barriers by piling boulders in the ocean. Horrible noise and frequent diesel fumes several hours per day. Tough to relax. (When we asked, they did let us move to a cabana bed one day when the fumes were making us sick.) Why didn’t they protect their seafront while they were doing the original construction? Now it’s been dragging on since at least August! Cleaned our room only while we were at dinner, after the room sat untended all day, and we had to ask four of our seven nights. Finally didn’t bother asking on our last full day there. Easily the worst of our 10+ all-inclusive experiences. Would not return or recommend.

I stayed a week at the Grand Fiesta Americana Vallarta and absolutely loved my stay. From the moment I got there, the staff was fantastic. They were always willing to help and were very happy and accomodating. The room itself was amazing, and had a fridge stocked with beer, soda, and snacks. No liquor in the room, sadly, so when the bars closed at 1am, there were no options other than having another beer. My room had a really nice Nespresso machine, though they ran out of capsules midway through my stay. No worries as they had a Starbucks-like coffee shop downstairs, though that meant I couldn't have a late night coffee. The bathroom had a small light so you didn't have to turn the lights on in the middle of the night... it's a small thing, but it was a nice touch, and there were quite a few things like this around the room and around the property. The food was outstanding! Much better than any other all inclusive I've been to. I actually woke up to eat at the breakfast buffet, and Yu (the Japanese restaurant) for dinner quickly became my favorite due to their great sushi. The pools were a bit cold and the beach isn't that great.
The service was great. The facilites (bars, restaurants, spa, pool) were nice and well cared for. Everything inside the resort was easily accessible. The gym was a bit small and cramped. The location of the resort made it difficult to leave on foot - if you are looking for hiking, running, or something like that, you'll need to cab to a different site.
I loved the room in the preferred with jacuzzi on the balcony. And the preferred bar. Most of the staff was nice, some others were nicer if you tipped. Pools and view were top notch. Other all inclusive resorts I've been at included some free excursions this one had none and not many daily activities to choose from. The options on food was limited on options and time. Only loved one restaurant, Bordeaux. Dress code requirements were a bit restrictive, should have more options for lenient dress. DON'T BUY LIQUOR ON THE CITY TOUR! COMPLETE RIP OFF!
The service was top notch. Facilities outstanding. Food was good. I have nothing negative about this place. They took care of me from the moment I arrived until I checked out.
Attended the wedding of my best friend with no date, at this VERY romantic resort and had a GREAT time! Not a place to meet singles as it's mostly couples but there are so many things to do that the time simply flew by (but didn't feel like it at the same time)! The staff was INCREDIBLE!
We got the best room at the hotel top floor and with a perfect view of the city and beach also mountain the service was just perfect the food everything was just what we wish for could be happier by picking this hotel if you plan on going you won't go wrong Picking this hotel!
This resort was a revelation. I booked based purely on online recommendations and as usual they were not wrong. We did the 'all inclusive' which paid off because the on site restaurants are excellent (especially the French restaurant). Overall service was the best I've ever experienced - and that includes Aman and Four Seasons properties. The spa is also highly recommended.
This resort is one of a kind. We have recently traveled to Hawaii and Mexico and I thought I was going to dislike Mexico. After our stay at the Grand Velas, my mind was changed quickly. This resort is stunning and clean. The staff became our friends and waited on as if we were royalty. Our room was luxurious with a fabulous view of the ocean. The pool was beautiful and always clean...with restaurants and bars at your fingertip. Often we would not make it inside to eat because our poolside waiter Miguel was amazing and we had no need to ever leave our lounge chairs....except to take our delicious drinks into the pool for a dip and/or partake in a water aerobics class. The food in all of the restaurants was divine. I even enjoyed sushi by the pool one day for lunch. We never left the resort because we were there for sun and relaxation. The room service is like no other. They bring in your own table and either put it on your balcony or in your room and we would always do that for breakfast. We were in HEAVEN. I cant wait to go back again. At night after eating, we would sit in the open airy entrance of the resort and have cocktails and listen to music. The bar and entertainment was a lot of fun, we also danced. Like I said before, do not overlook Mexico but specifically this resort. We stayed in the Mayan Riviera a couple years ago and that hotel did not even come close to this one. 5 Star all the WAY!
I just got back from here and reality is NO FUN! Grand Velas is an amazing resort. The rooms are huge. I think our (basic) room was larger than the first house I rented. The staff is friendly and many speak very good English. The buffet is top notch, and the reservations restaurants are truly five-star. I hear other people's complaints about no free internet, but, I also need to ask - should you bother with the internet here? Unplug, darnit! There is really no better place to unplug! I am dying to go back! (full disc - I rated it excellent for value, but, this was a work-perk trip that I did not pay for, so, what do I know about value?)
This was our second stay at Gran Velas and we loved it again. The grounds are beautiful, the heated infinity pool with swim up bar is amazing at sunset. The staff are funny, courteous and prompt. Service at the pool, beach or anywhere! Great food (we ate at all 3 restaurants), not stingy on drinks or only offering bottom shelf liquor, super friendly staff, great rooms--you even get a massage when you check in instead of standing in line!
I took my special person with me and had planed to propose to her on this 3 day trip. The hotel ,the grounds and the restaurants were exceptional. Clean, beautiful and delicious . The only problem was that there were too many kids ( 12 and under) around. Don't get me wrong ,I like kids but I thought this was an all adult resort. staff was very very friendly and kind and gracious. Top of the line liquor.
Our family of 7 and a baby were here for a week and did not want to go home. The views beautiful, the food very good and the service wonderful. For the prices they should have free internet in the rooms, but they do have a business center. Evening entertainment wouldve been nice, there was none.
Beautiful resort, very private, with excellent service, and great food. You get the feeling of being pamoered the whole time you are there. The staff is there to make sure you have everything you need to relax and enjoy. Great restaurant choices, as well as a wonderful buffet by the beach.
We loved our stay at the Grand Velas and plan to go back there again. The property is so clean and elegant and it sits on a beautiful beach that you can see from almost any angle in the hotel. As an all-inclusive resort, you have your choice of four or five restaurants from Italian, French, Mexican and American. The pool was sublime -- but you need to reserve your lounge chairs early in the morning. The food was surprisingly good and the wait staff friendly. The concierge was not as helpful as we would have liked - we wanted to dine one night outside of the hotel and had to research our own restaurants and it took the concierge forever to make a reservation for us. That is why we gave the staff four stars instead of five. Overall it was a beautiful, quiet and elegant hotel -- only 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta and from other quaint towns in the hills.
If your well-being and health are a priority for having a great time while in Mexico, this is the place for you. I ate and drank everything I wanted without getting sick. From what I was told, even the tap water in the hotel rooms are purified - and I believe them, as I accidentally brushed my teeth with it once. The staff is courteous and helpful, and treat you like a million bucks. The food is wonderful - especially the buffet overlooking the water. The grounds are pristine, the spa is fabulous, and the pool is fantastic. But my favorite part of this hotel is the open lobby: a huge thatched vaulted ceiling, with beautiful plants and trees and breezes. This hotel isn't the cheapest place to stay, but is worth EVERY penny. Will definitely stay there again.
This is a superb facility. Spacious, beautifully decorated rooms, lobby, all other facilities. The staff was the best we ever experienced. The service was superb! The only thing which would not make this a five-star facility was the food. It would rate a very good, but not an excellent. A couple of tips for getting to the facility: Tukari will try to provide you, through the travel website, with limo service from and to the airport. Taxis are plentiful and cheaper, plus you won't have to try to coordinate your return with them. There are plenty of taxis at the hotel. Inside the airport is a circus with all the people trying to sell you something, time-shares, tours, whatever. Ignore all of them. Go outside and just get a taxi. But ask the driver first what the price will be.

The staff was absolutely phenomenal. My partner and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the staff was so welcoming and helpful. We booked one of the Honeymoon Suites and was delighted with it. The jacuzzi and hammock chair on the balcony were a very pleasant surprise and we used them every night. We loved that all the rooms had a sea view and the sunsets were gorgeous! The pool was clean and kept at just the perfect temperature. We will be booking again for next year's vacation.
Room upgraded, lovely view, good pool waiters and restaurant staff. Reception manager tried to overcharge me on room price that was agreed with Active Hotels coming up with all sorts of reasons for the overcharge - had to argue over phone and face to face at reception with me actually adding up with a calculator at front desk to show manager that he was wrong. Eventually he agreed that he was wrong but by that time I was really stressed and this spoiled by last few days- really embarassing. Hotel no atmosphere at night, no entertainment, no music, same taped music around the pool for 14 days!! Location at entrance not nice as in dirty street downtown and had to walk through more dirty streets to get to the malecon. Left same comments with hotel for future customers
Staff was very nice. The facilities were clean. It did not promise anything it did not deliver. The price was the same as the 5-star hotels 25 minutes south. My reason for staying at Villa Premier was that is was close into town. But the surrounding area kind of sucked. And Puerto Vallarta is not a super nice place and I would suggest to stay in a higher end place and venture out once a day into town.
The staff at the front desk and in lobby area, plus concierge went above and beyond to ensure we were assisted in a timely fashion. The proximity to walk over to the Vallarta Marina was great. The drinks on-site are very expensive.
The resort staff was amazing beyond any expectations. Friendly, helpful, and willing to go above and beyond to assist guests in any way. The resort is beautiful and well taken care of. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I would recommend this resort to anyone and plan to come back soon. Thank you Daniel, Marco, Alan and Adrian. clean hotel near dining and downtown. value was good for what we got through booking.com. staff was mostly friendly. only issue i had was when i requested a late check out, they refused. i asked to speak to a manager and they changed their mind and gave me an extra hour. just seemed weird, it was the first time i've ever been told no on a late check out request at any hotel.
The location. Ocean views. Pool area. The food could be better around the pool. Mikado was great as usual. The coffee shop could be better organized for order taking, paying. The bar is very nice and great atmosphere.
The Marina area is less congested than the Zona Romantica which gives the whole area a laid back feel. The pool was a great size and you steps away from the beach. Easy bus transportation to other parts of town. Several restaurants in the area if you don't want hotel food. The public areas were nice with decorated with a certain flair. I expected more luxe giving the relatively high price - not Four Seasons standards but maybe a little more. The rooms were nice enough but the decor seemed to lack a certain Mexican spark. The rooms were more like generic hotel rooms - nice but generic.
Great location near town easy to get to great restaurants and entertainment. Everything accessible at the property too! Staff great and accommodations comfortable with nice pools. Beach is not good but they are renovating it. Beach is bad, rocky everywhere and strong currents
Everyone was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The hotel was clean. The rooms were very clean. The view was breathtaking. The only complaint I have is that we booked a king bed and we got two double beds instead, we tried for two days to switch into a room with a king and gave up. They wanted to put us in a smaller room with no view.
Location from airport and short walk to town. Lunch was tasty. Many guests served way beyond their limit made for a sloppy atmosphere. We stayed for one night before heading to our resort in NV. Prob wouldn't do it again. if you're on spring break or a budget this place leaves a lot to be desired. Timeshare pitch was a hassle for guests staying only one night as well.

The location was central enough to walk most places and the bus and cab lines were easy to use. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very courteous. Adult beverages were pretty weak. The condition of the rooms was ok, but nothing special and ours was a bit musty. They were also doing renovations on the tops 2 floors of the hotel while we there. You could hear every conversation that anyone was having in the hall and our toilet would occasionally run for no reason and was LOUD. If you love bad covers of any song, then this resort has the music selection for you.
Location Cigarette butts on balcony, food trays left all day in hallway, leaked water from window, hot tub out of order, had to pay 50 pesos to print boarding passes. Upon checkout most guest service representatives would ask "how was your stay" "look forward to welcoming you back soon" --- NOTHING.
The location of the hotel is excellent. It's close enough to walk to most things and is right on the beach. The pool area was wonderful too. We never struggled to find lounge chairs by the pool. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were simple but clean which was fine for our stay. The people in the room next to us stayed out late and were very noisy late at night when they were coming back to their hotel room so the walls must be somewhat thin. The food at the hotel was just ok. I'm glad that we didn't book the all inclusive option for our stay because we would have been tired of the food by the end of our stay. There are plenty of delicious restaurants nearby so there is no need to eat at the hotel all the time.
The pool side service we received from Manuel was the only good thing about our stay. He was very attentive, friendly, & fast with our drinks + food. I absolutely did not care for the pushy time share sales staff that circles around you every time we walked by. You couldn't even avoid them since their stand is right by the lobby & elevator. In addition, their sales tactics were pretty fraudulent. At first, everything sounds free, then these little fees start getting added and quoted rates change. Even when we were politely declining, they would follow you to the elevator or continue to push. I expected better from Sheraton than to allow this on their resort.

Staff is very friendly, pool areas are fantastic, lots of activities available, location is great (walkable to Malecon and downtown PV areas). Remodeled rooms are very nice (modern, luxurious), but not all rooms have been updated, and those that have not been updated are mediocre at best.
The pool area and service was really quite good. The constant barrage of timeshare sales people and lack of shuttle service from the airport was annoying. The DJ at the pool was loud and went on far too late. Breakfast was only available until 11 and the buffet breakfast was terribly overpriced. We found that the $100/person for the all inclusive was exorbitant.
Beach, availability of a variety of activities, option of cooking in the room, having the plaza in walking distance, the beauty of the grounds, helpfulness of staff. Internet service,

The drinks and food on the beach was affordable. The rooms were clean and nicely outfitted with a kitchen with nice market a short walk away. Easily can make meals inside the room if family on small budget. Only 2 real complaints: 1. Excessive time neesed for Check In/Out. So many staff throughout the facility. But only 2 at Check In/Out. Took almost an hour to Check In and to Check Out. Not a good way to start and end the relationship. 2. No good english communication. You need to keep your towels and use Hospitality Suite before Checking Out. Otherwise no towels supplied inside Hospitality.
Where our room was and where we had to check in and out was about 4 blocks away from each other. A long walk with inconsistent shuttle service. My initial impression wasn't nice because the man checking me in was dour. We had a1 bedroom condo room with a kitchen. When we wanted to have family over for dinner we were forbidden. At first he said it would cost $12.00 per person, then the price went up to 25 " and they can only stay for 3 hours " and then, finally, the answer was NO, no visitors allowed. After that disappointing news, we walked back to out room and the door was wide open with a maids cart next to it, but no one was there, the room was wide open! I called to complain and was told a supervisor would get back to me and they never did. I would recommend NOT going there. Also was super busy, packed with people.
The resort is starting to look old, nothing terrible though and the price was ok Checkou took 1hr and they force you to ysve a shitty plastic bacelet 24/7
Friendly service, excellent beach, clean pools. Felt luxurious and comfortable by beach and in the room. I did not expect to see tigers in a hotel in Mexico. They lived in small cages and in a stressful environment next to the road. Too many people too close to their home! What is the added benefit of having tigers at a busy hotel and spa resort? If you are going to have large animals at a resort and put them on display, you'd better take care of them. I did not feel like the animals were being given the respect they deserved. Could hear tigers growling at night.(which made me question their stress levels and general care more). I do not like that the money I spent at this facility will perpetuate this circus atmosphere. Tigers might appeal to children but they did not appeal to me. Move them away from the road, give them larger facilities, enrich their environment (give them more than coconuts for toys) and treat them the way you would want to be treated.
Arrived late, but was able to extend check out the next day before we moved on to our next destination. Clean room. Not crowded. Free WiFi in the lobby area. Nice pool area and access to the beach.

Amazing staff service especially by he hotel greeter Pedro!since the minute we got there, he already had gone above and beyond to making our stay there the most welcoming. With this being said, The Westin definitely does not disappoint in how well present, accommodating, and easily accessible to the beach. Defitely recommend a stay here especially during March when all the spring breakers are in town!
Friendly staff. Lots of nice swimming pools. Room outdated, and having to pay for wifi in room? This was our second hotel in PV. Not horrible, but probably wouldn't stay here again based on other options.
Room was nice and relaxing. Check in was easy. Free wifi only in lobby. Beach was not cleanest water, but most if you go to the beach usually you would leave PVR.
Great hotel, great value for your money, pay no attention to the complaints of lizzards and bugs on the rooms. All hotels in the Puerto Vallarta have this 'problem' because they are so close to nature.
We loved the gym facilities, tennis courts. Great breakfast spread which was included, rooms were nice and clean. Staff friendly and would deliver drinks to the beach/ poolside. Wished the beach was longer to walk (cove with little peninsulas that were rocky to cross to get to the next small cove) Didn't like the lunch restaurant/ outdoor eating options during the day.
Every single person who works at the westin was SO nice! One morning at breakfast downstairs, I had mentioned to the waiter that my boyfriend and me were loving this place but getting bit so bad by mosquitos after he asked how we were doing. When I came back from getting my breakfast at the buffet, there was mosquito repellant sitting on our table. Arnoldo (our waiter) had left it there for us to use. So nice!! Everyone there was just happy and did whatever they could to make our stay enjoyable-which it was. This place is clean and set in the most perfect location. We cannot wait to go back!!!
Pool design. Friendly check-in staff. Late check-out offered. Staff seemed stressed and not appreciated by supervisors. Pool lacked towels (were hidden in a rolling bucket), and had zero towels at 7pm when I wanted to go swimming. Lobby was cold and had no warmth or delights. Overpriced food. Far from center of Puerto Vallarta.
