Have visited this resort for the last 10 years and it has gone from a great hotel when ran by Hilton to finally on this last trip to a place where the only thing nice you are going to still enjoy is the beautiful beach and landscaping. The new staff is really inept and don't seem to be happy having extra work as the resort seems to be understaff. Front desk staff was not friendly at all when checking in/check out. The only staff member still there that still does a great job is a server at the Buffett named Rosa. If you want to eat at one of the restaurant you have to be up early and make a line to reserve otherwise you will never be able to eat at any of them and all they will do is offer you another restaurant that you will have to pay around $50.00 USD. Food at the Buffett is pretty mediocre but european tourists seem not to have a problem with it . I would recommend Dreams which is another resort located in the area which I have also visited numerous time and it's worth paying the higher daily as you will receive better service when it comes to accommodation, food, staff and entertainment.
I loved the resort and some of the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. We appeared to be the only ones tipping yet we were still treated rudely by most staff. The entertainment folks were very friendly and fun and Vitalina at the pool bar was the best. She was very friendly and made us feel welcome and for that, we tipped her well during the stay. The resort itself is very nice and fun especially for the money. There seemed to be a large language barrier with speaking American English as most of the guests at the hotel were European, French, German and Italian seemed to be the second language by staff members. The food was good and the hotel was nice enough to go back for the money spent.
This hotel is situated on some of the loveliest grounds I have ever seen. It is landscaped with fruit trees and a stream. The stream is filled with cute birds, turtles and fish. The beaches are lovely and the ocean looks like a spread in a magazine. However, It is not English friendly. Signs are listed in all other European languages, and the staff on the whole, most of the staff do not speak English. US citizens, especially if they are not fluent in Spanish, are not tolerated well, especially by the young Italians. They speak openly with disgust about Americans, and push them off the sidewalks. It became very uncomfortable. The rooms are 2 star. No basic amenities like a clock, a tub that drains, or a flat screen tv. The largest problem was the beds. They had less give than sleeping on a carpeted floor, and the pillows were old and lumpy. Dining was limited. There were few choices. Quality meat was rationed by staff who walked around and sliced of pieces onto your plate.
We enjoyed the public spaces best, particularly the pool and the central bar. We paid for a room upgrade and were thoroughly disappointed. Our room actually seemed smaller and with less amenities than the room a couple traveling with us had who did not purchase the upgrade. Room also had mold, standing rain water, and a bad smell.
The beach is pretty and the pool was refershing. But...the food was terrible. The $20/person snorkeling trip went to a dead reef and tennis lessons didn't happen 2 out of the 3 days we stayed (I had really looked foward to that!). All-inclusive drinks was the only thing that made us happy. There really is nothing special about this resort. Maybe good for families with kids, but nothing luxury or special for adults who have been around the world. \n \nAlso -- a 1.5 hour and $90 cab ride from Santo Domingo -- thanks A LOT online travel website for not including that in our so-called 'all inclusive' vacation package. \n \nOverall it was a bummer of a trip for the money we spent.

friendly staff. main buffet food was good (except the fruit). I would recommend the hotel if it were cleaner and drinks were better. I booked an all inclusive deluxe room with pool view...there was no view! ROOM was dirty overall:curtains had mildew on it, decorative pillows were also smelly, decorative ottoman was very nasty. The inclusive drinks were HORRID! I had to drink beer.
Be Live Canoa is a great hotel. I traveled with family and friends and we had a great time.
Customer service was excellent. The staff was trained to accommodate any requests. Also the food was excellent and the selection of food was extensive. At times vendors trying to sell time shares, excursions, etc. were a little intrusive, but probably not outside the limits when compared to other resorts.
This resort was wonderful. The beach was absolutely gorgeous and huge! It took 5 minutes to walk the stretch from one end of the resort to the other. The food was top-notch - we tried 4 of the 7 restaurants while we were there and all the food we got was delicious! Tip - ask for recommendations - some of the plated meals at the restaurants were better than others, and the wait staff were able to easily point you in the right direction. Also, my husband is a big guy and learned that he could order 2 appetizers if he wanted to, which made him very happy. We did end up with the preferred package, which actually offered a lot of perks. We had our own private pool (with pool bar), our own private area on the beach, and a 'clubhouse' that we could go to for appetizers and drinks. We were there during march madness, and the clubhouse was extra nice because we could go there and get a prime couch spot to watch a couple of games. The bartender in the preferred club was also very good - he remembered my husband and my dad (we also travelled with my parents) and came and asked them if they wanted the same drinks each time we walked in. Speaking of bartenders, they were all very good - they made delicious drinks (try the drink of the day), were willing to customize them, and knew a wide variety of drinks (we ordered Caipirinhas and every bartender knew how to make them). Overall, this resort was wonderful, and we had a really great stay. This resort was very large, which didn't bother us (more food, pool, and beach options), but could be a downside for some. The only thing that was slightly annoying was the number of people they let into the resort to sell you things. At other all-inclusives I've been at, they limit the sales function to the lobby, and at Dreams, there were people by the pool and on the beach walking around to try to get you to go on excursions. They were not overly pushy, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience. There is also an office in the resort where they try to sell you timeshares. One of the staff in the lobby tried to get us reeled in, but was willing to let us walk away (she was a little bit more pushy than the others who were selling things, but we only heard from her once - she didn't come up to us again after we walked away). Again, it's not the end of the world to say no and walk away from anyone trying to sell you something on vacation - it just may be a bigger deal to some people than to others.
The Spa experience is a good take away for us. Inaccurate information given from tour guides to push their products. Our servers were horrible at best. Seems there need to be some training to demonstrate that all customers should be treated equally. We observed on multiple occassions how we were treated differently in comparison to other guest. There won't be a repeat for us to Dreams La Romana.
Birds and nature if they were any. Noisy and breakfast was the same. Maybe should change theme of breakfast
I stayed at the Resort in early December and had an amazing time with my group. The grounds are very well kept and the Beach atmoshere very lively. All of the dining options were very good and did not experience wait times at any point. The best part of the stay was the warmth and helpfulness of their well seasoned staff.
The food was pretty typical for an all inclusive. Staff was very good, property well taken care of. Beach clean and plenty of spots to sit and relax.
Great location by the beach. Staff were slow at service.
beach food is terrible
great food. The restaurant where nice, and serve good meal.m The room was really nice and comfortable (i asked for an upgrade) the staff is not well inform about the hotel. They dont know nothing... you ask something and nobody can answerd you.
The staff was excellent, food was good, I was given what I asked for which were closest rooms to pool area. The beach was outstanding, clear waters. I had a problem at one of the stores, I bought a ceramic which was that bad quality that it broke up 10 minutes after bought at other store just by placing the bag on counter, I took it back to ask for a change I had a negative impression from Ingris. I discused it at lobby but I was clear, I had had a wonderfull time at hotel and great service for the money I felt I end up owing to the hotel and I would not make a problem out of it , I just wanted them to know.
atmosphir ,food was good ,staff were excelent.... needs bathrooms next to the bar and the pool area
The garden, the animation, the beach, the restaurant
