Pros: This was our first experience of traveling in Europe and we expected finding the property difficult. That was not the case, the property was very easy to find, and the host met us on arrival. She showed us where everything was and made us feel entirely at home. She dropped off a wonderful breakfast in the morning, before we got on our way. I would recommend staying at this accommodation to any of my friends
Located in Machecoul, Chez Bernadou is in a rural location, within a 5-minute drive of Eglise de Machecoul and Chateau de Machecoul. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Clean, good welcome, hot showers.
Cons: We thought we had a family room as two males travelling. On arrival it was a double bed and for one if the singles to be made up it was a charge og 22 Euros.
Pros: Lovely hosts and warm welcome. Accommodations were very high standard and comfortable. The home and gardens are immaculate and to be envied. We were recommended to visit Pornic which we did for a walk at the beach and meal in a pizzeria. The home is quiet and we were left to privacy. Machecoul is a small town and worth the night over at Chez Bernadou.
Pros: Everything - excellent accommodation and breakfast
Pros: Place and regions

See hotel page For family holidays, a romantic weekend or a work seminar, you will find in Bouin, in the Loire region between Nantes and Noirmoutier, a beautiful 18th-century residence run by Camille and Charles Salaud. Domaine Le Martinet, The Originals Relais, their charming 3-star hotel, is a great place to relax in one of its 15 spacious rooms or to lounge in the garden by the heated swimming pool.
Pros: Fantastic pool area. Unfortunately as we were only here for one night we didn’t have the opportunity to take advantage. Great breakfast.
Cons: After a long journey to the hotel we would have liked to have had a few drinks in the bar but it seems that they like to close the bar very early, we were able to get one drink as we were waiting for a table at the restaurant, but this was no later than 8.00pm.
Pros: Tucked away in a small village, what a treat nothing to much trouble perfect.
Cons: What's not to like?if I was pushed for an answer it would be air conditioning would definitely be an assist in very hot weather.
Pros: The breakfast was great. The breakfast staff were great. The pool was a bonus on a very hot day.
Cons: The sticking entrance door to the restaurant caused me to wait 15 minutes after opening time. The food and the ambience were great.
Pros: Secure bike storage
Cons: Quite expensive for a room in the attic and no breakfast
Pros: Well located, great staff, very clean, beds comfortable, yummy breakfast
Cons: The only 2 little things that were disappointing were that they did not have an iron and ironing board to lend me and there was not a lot of little soap samples, I luckily had shower gel with me.
Pros: Our room was in the main building and very spacious with original roof beams. The 'dawn chorus' was noisy in the morning with the windows open for coolness. Nice grounds around Olive tree and heated swimming pool. Good meal in adjacent restaurant with friendly ambience.
Pros: The swimming pool was really welcome after a drive up country. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had our evening meal at the adjacent restaurant and it was excellent. Possibly the best piece of John Dory I have ever tasted with fantastic leeks. The breakfast in the morning was very good
Pros: Access to the garden. Quietness- no traffic. Very good WiFi connection
Cons: Decor slightly tired.
Pros: We arrived early and were still able to check in, good service. Garden view room was large and very comfortable, good shower. Secure storage for our bicycles. Very quiet location in a sleepy village. Excellent restaurant on site.
Cons: Nothing to mention.
Pros: Very friendly hostess. Excellent breakfast with fresh orange juice. Excellent meal in restaurant.
Cons: We were really looking forward to our overnight stop at this Relais. I had booked a superior twin room and was very disappointed with it . I questioned this when we paid to leave. It reminded me of accommodation of my back packing days! The bedroom was very dark, and was one of several rooms in a row on what looked like an add on to the house...which looks lovely and traditional from the outside. Our room pretty well abutted the dining conservatory, so we had to keep the curtains closed. The room was basic, no frills. Certainly not superior room. Had we been staying a couple of nights we would have moved on, but for an overnight stop on our cycle trip, the welcome, the food over rode our disappointment.

Cons: The strong smell of anti odor product in the room

Cons: Nothing it ticked all the boxes for our purpose

Pros: Monsieur Reynaud - very welcoming, so helpful in suggesting places to visit and places to eat, and what a character! Spotlessly clean room and facilities. Period French charm. Very good variety of dishes at breakfast. Easy to locate and right in the town centre.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

Pros: Excellent welcome and concern for my comfort throughout my stay. The location is ideal for visiting the attractions of the area.
Cons: It was fine.
Pros: Everything. Excellent french restaurant around corner was a bonus.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Pros: Charming owner. Great breakfast. Good value. Centre of town. Garage for bicycles
Pros: Friendly hosts. Fantastic linguistic skills! Nice quiet room. Garage for bikes.
Pros: Lovely room on the ground floor. Bikes locked in the garage. Breakfast was included and it was very good. Very pleasant staff. Spoke English if I couldn’t understand the french. Lovely dog! Can recommend the creperie on the roundabout - about a 15 min walk.
Pros: Good breakfast, lots of choice.
Cons: Shared bathroom.
Pros: Our room was spacious and attractive, with interesting artwork. The welcome was excellent and very helpful. The shower was good one, and roomy with plenty of hot water. The desk was useful to us. At breakfast we noticed a kettle and microwave which I imagine were for the use of guests. There was secure storage overnight for our bicycles.
Cons: The checkin didn’t open until 3.30 pm. A croissant at breakfast might have been nice, but there were plenty of other tasty things to enjoy.
Pros: The possibility to put our bikes in a garage.
Pros: The proprietors are such pleasant people, and welcomed me like a friend ,since it was a return visit. The situation in the village is convenient to eat out or take an evening stroll and the nights are quiet .I always enjoy a drive across the Gois to Noirmoutier,a unique experience. There was a good choice at breakfast with lovely high-quality coffee ,made individually.
Cons: It was all fine.
Pros: Friendly, very helpful.Enjoyed the homemade jams.
With a stay at Hôtel Entre Terre et Mer in Beauvoir-sur-Mer, you'll be a 4-minute walk from Beauvoir-sur-Mer Church and 9 minutes by foot from Parc du Cornoir. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: It was an okay stay but hotel quite run down
Pros: free parking
Cons: staff didn't speak English. no shower curtain
Pros: Quiet small town location Plenty of parking Easy to get to Noirmoutier and the Vendee region
Cons: Hotel lost my reservation. Suggested we might not have a room for stay (found one spare for us luckily), therefore didn't meet any special requests made in booking and did not respond to request for bicycle hire (hotel details state bicycle hire was available). Overcharged significantly on checkout as did not get booking.com genius rate and breakfast was charged as extra even though stated as included on original booking. Hotel also smells of cigarette smoke, this may or may not be an issue depending on the guest.
Pros: The Crepary near the church is excellent. Garage store for bikes
Cons: Welcome was poor. No restaurant. Only one open in village (see below). Much coughing and sputtering over the food by the person swerving.
Cons: We arrived at the hotel to find that there was no restaurant despite the description clearly stating that it had a restaurant that was open both lunchtimes and evenings. We were travelling on bicycles, so having access to a restaurant is something I was careful to look at. Manager was unconcerned. Hotel smelt of cigarette smoke. Receptionist in the morning was equally unhelpful.
With a stay at Hôtel du Marché in Beauvoir-sur-Mer, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Beauvoir-sur-Mer Church and Parc du Cornoir. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: I enjoyed hearing the Church bells ring in the morning. They were silent until 7 am so did not disturb sleep.
Cons: A strange place. The room was clean had the facilities you would expect, but looked old fashioned. The Hotel seemed to lack human warmth, needed the female touch. Only ever saw three people in the bar.
Pros: The outside of the hotel looks lovely and the village is also great with that traditional French relaxed feel. The owner is a lovely chap and very helpful. The room was clean as were the sheets and the bathroom.
Cons: The room was very tired with what looked like water staining all over the wall paper. Our family room had two rooms plus bathroom with a double & single in one room and a double in the other. The bed was probably the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in and the blankets were marked and holey. Breakfast is listed as being 9 EUR but he was charging 10. Travelling with two teenagers makes wifi quite important – although listed as having wifi throughout it did not appear to be available even in public areas. Overall quite disappointed.
