Pros: Nice location, clean and comfortable. Coffee was provided for the morning. Owner was very friendly. Easy, close parking.
Cons: Would be nice to have a private bath for the price

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is very friendly and helpful, provided a lot of information about this town, we took his advice to have breakfast in a bakery not too far, the bread are very nice. And the heating floor in the bathroom is very comfortable in the winder.

Pros: The hosts are very nice, our room had everything we needed incl. a fridge, tea and coffee facilities, etc. and we had the luxury of having the bathroom for ourselves because the other two bedrooms weren‘t rented out. An islandic restaurant, a supermarket and bakery is close by - so all one needs is around the corner.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts . Nice accommodation.
Cons: Nothing,great stay!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable Guesthouse with good breakfast (toast, cheese, sausage, marmelade, cereals, tee, coffee,...). Staff was very friendly and knew many things about the region (view points, hot pots, waterfalls, Restaurants, other points of interest...). The guesthouse is close to isafjördur and other interesting points
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfy. The breakfast was great. The staff was very nice!
Cons: Nothing really. It was a great stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Izabela was unbelievably helpful and fun to be around. She made our stay perfect! We had a large room with wardrobe and shared two bathroom with 3 other rooms but we never had to wait. We were able to do our laundry for free. Izabela took time with each guest writing down all the possibilities in the area to explore on a map. There was a sitting area, deck with grill and parking area. Guests were very friendly and quiet when coming and going at all times of day and night. We loved it!
Cons: We loved everything. Only thing we would possibly suggest is skyr and fruit on breakfast buffet. The coffee and tea were fabulous though!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a real find. They operate at least a couple of well-equipped guesthouses in Sudavik, 15 minutes from the nice town of Isafjordur. We loved the personable and friendly young Polish women who run the place, and they do it with grace, humor and efficiency. The shared spaces (one bath/shower/toilet, one washer/dryer/toilet, a kitchen and comfortable living space with sofas and table for the provided breakfast) are attractive and comfortable. The doors to the bedrooms are pretty sound-proof, too, which is nice in a shared house. The guesthouse has 23:00 - 6:00 quiet hours, when among other things you can’t run the fancy grind on the spot coffee machine because it is noisy, but it sure makes good coffee!
Cons: the breakfast was certainly adequate, consisting of breads, lots of cereal varieties, ham, salami and cheese etc. But it would have been nice, this being Iceland, to have some fish and Icelandic yoghurt available and even just hard-boiled eggs.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very kind with us. They provided us plenty of information to visit the area around Isafjördur and the northern part of the Westfjörds. We could cook our dinner using the kitchen of the house, our room was large and comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: friendly and very helpful hosts !

Pros: The host and her friend taking care of us the second day was very caring! The breakfast was nice as well :-)
Cons: The kitchen (especially all the equipment there) needs to be cleaned!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Ver friendly and helpfull hosts. Well prepared kitchen with coffee, tea and fruits alwaya available. Small cozy town with magnificent views!! Very decent price range.
Cons: Only one shower in the one ans half bathrooms. Small and compact rooms. Very steep and dangerous stairs to the upper floor!! These arent really a problem, just an observation.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great response good atmosphere
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very “home-y”, great breakfast and host!
Cons: X
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The host is very nice. She also guided us with things we could do in the little time we had at Flateyri. Pretty house. Well equipped kitchen.
Cons: You need to carry your luggage up the stairs which can be a little difficult.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very good guest house in a quiet small town in one of the West Fjords. Check in was great as you call the number on the door and wait inside; this is Iceland - of course the door isn't locked! The host comes along to show you around a few minutes later and you're invited to make yourself at home with the kitchen and other facilities available from the outset. The room was very nice, breakfast was varied and the coffee pretty good. The host would also send you a text if the aurora made an appearance (which it did) , which was a very nice touch!
Cons: To be honest - nothing. This is a great little guest house in a beautiful part of Iceland. Nice welcome, nice place to stay!
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hot pools at the hotel and the natural one on the other side of the river are amazimg. The food was the best I had in Iceland and the breakfast was outstanding. There are also many opportunities for hiking and you can book horse riding and kayaking
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quirky hotel in a beautiful remote location. Our room had one of the most unusual decors to date. :) Didn't use the private geo thermal pool/hotpots made available by the hotel so couldn't comment on those.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I traveled out of my way and consequently lost over an hour of my vacation time. After finding the area known as Heydalur, very small place far away from a populated area. I found a total inadequency of signage but followed 2 only potential lanes until I reached a place where I was concerned I could not turn back. This facility looks good on line but shows a complete disregard for the customer simply due to the indifference of proximity and directions. In my view online booking should not risk doing business with these people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place!! We had a great time there!! Everybody was so nice, it was a perfect stay! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent place. Lovely dogs. Delicious breakfast. Great
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great hotel/guesthouse with nice rooms with en-suites in a beautiful river valley. The colours are particularly gorgeous in the autumn. There is a small pool and hot tub, as well as a natural hot pool across the river (I didn't use any - but they looked nice). I went horse-riding in the valley and then down alongside the fjord nearby - absolutely outstanding! Food tasty, staff all lovely, definitely recommend spending a couple of nights here. Two friendly dogs and a parrot too!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, setup, facilities and friendly staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Both the natural hot pot and the others are amazing. Very good place to see the northern lights. The staff is very friendly
Cons: Bathroom is very small. Finding the place was a little bit challenging, google maps coordinates are incorrect.

Pros: Location is stunning. A nice alternative to Ísafjörður. The guesthouse is basic but clean and nice with all the facilities you need, especially the kitchen, good shower and very quiet. It has a separate living room with comfortable lounges and tv. Separate dining room and a table in the kitchen also. Two bathrooms, one with a bath. Good WiFi and outlets available in the room. It was easy to find and there was plenty of parking.
Cons: The beds were a bit small.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The apartment is really huge. When I entered in for the first time, I thought we will share the space with others and I was looking for the room no. 3 :) The kitchen had everything we needed, especially the oven we could make pizza :) We could choose to watch movies as it was a big collection there. We could play table foosball; it was fun.
Cons: The gps coordinates are not quite accurate.

Pros: Remote location gave ample opportunity to see the Northern Lights.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are completely renovated and new. Very good beds. Hosts are really friendly and helpful. A very quiet place with a wonderful view towards fjord and mountains. Strategically good situated on the way to Dynjandi and not far away from Islafjördur (15mins drive). The drive through the tunnel is adventurous - never used a "einbreid göng" before (One lane, both directions ;) )
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice design, kind staff, gave us use in public fridge, quiet location
Cons: No private fridge in the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful place to stay after a long day exploring the westfjords. The hotel is very charming and surprised us with a new but still cozy interior. The Staff gave us a lot of advice for activities in the area. I will definitely come back here, this time maybe with a group of friends. The hotel seems perfect for groups.
7.1 Good
Pros: The inn is in a secluded, scenic location and our room was cozy. Nice continental breakfast with eggs and cheeses in the mornings.
Cons: The hotel decor and ambience could use a little work.
7.1 Good
Pros: This place is not as remote as the pictures make it looks, Ísafjörðuris with restaurants and shops is a 10 minute drive though the tunnel, so considering how far you have driven to get to the inn this is nothing. The place is quiet, there is no road noise and great views from the windows. Easy to find and park.
Cons: Breakfast was a bit on the light side, but other then that enjoyed the stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable. Warm host.
Cons: Relatively small rooms. Basic breakfast.

7.9 Good
Pros: It worked out that we were the only guests and our hosts switched our room to give us the "largest" room. It might have been the only oven we had while traveling which we definitely used. The home has lots of windows & great views.
Cons: The lock box was a little tricky to access, might be time to replace. The glass and aluminum recycling was under the sink and was FULL. There was an odor from beer/drinks & was clearly time to remove/refresh.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very helpful in planning out sites to see. The accomodation were very comfortable and homey. The kitchen area was well supplied with everything you need to prepare a meal. We could not have asked for anything more.
Cons: There is nothing Sudavik Guesthouse needs to do to improve. Everything was just great.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great space, their art is amazing, well set up space with wonderful views. Good facilities in the kitchen and bathroom. Only us staying so place to ourselves was amazing. Wish we have known about their photo experiences / prior to our visit, would love to check that out.
Cons: Bathroom could really so with better airflow, condensates in the morning and after use , was worried about the wear to the ledges. Nothing in town, nearest town is 30mins, so make sure you stock up before you come or be prepped to go to isafjordur and come back.
6.7 Good
Pros: Check in was super easy, contact has been friendly and fast. Room was quite spacious and included a huge closet. The view to the mountain was quite nice as well.
Cons: The house could use some renovation, especially the bathroom and the kitchen. Some things are in mint condition at best. There was food left in the fridge when we arrived. Also the bathroom is quite small and does not leave a great first impression.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about the place, it was very nice and in good location. The Guesthouse owner was very kind and friendly. Highly recommended
6.7 Good
Pros: Very comfy beds, nice common area, we did not use the kitchen but it seemed very well equipped. Nice place for the location.
Cons: Host was not there and we had to call him, very friendly though. Wifi did not work. The room was small and like in the basement with very small windows.
6.3 Good
Pros: nothing
Cons: Small rooms, uncomfortable faded bathroom.

8.2 Excellent
Pros: Comfy beds, full service kitchen, nice bathroom, large rooms with space
Cons: Booked a "family room" but site only allows 3 people per room but this room sleeps 6 when we arrived we had 5 people so owner charged additional $40 for nothing just for extra people even though the space was available - very frustrating for a "budget" place
8.0 Excellent
Pros: From the outside, the accommodation does not look very inviting - even the environment is not ... But inside we felt comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and actually we had everything we needed. The possibility of self-catering was important to us and it was given here. Even with oven!
Cons: Unfortunately, our hostel roommates were not the neatest and not the quietest - but the landlord can not do that.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A clean, basic place to stay. Way cheaper than anywhere nearby. Fully equipped kitchen. Good Wi-Fi. The area around is beyond words, very beautiful. The spot is about 20 mins drive from the town with all the stores, cafes etc.
Cons: Thinnest walls ever, you get to hear literally everything going on in the next rooms. At night had to "enjoy" snoring from the 2 rooms next to ours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great little guest house right by the harbour. Friendly and helpful staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: excelent stay in wonderful small town!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We love the space. Social space. We had lucky to be on our own so all the house and shared places were just for us. The kitchen has very good conditions and stuff for us to cook (notice that we didnt have nothing to cook with)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and hotel was very clean. I slept well and was thankful it was so quiet! Stunning views and wonderful meals at the hotel restaurant. Happy with the free breakfast and location was great. I'd recommend in a heartbeat. My last day there, my flight was canceled and Steven (an employee) actually was kind enough to bring me with him to Reykjavik so I could catch my flight.
Cons: I would have rented a car if I knew how isolated it was and I wish I would have looked up the hours of things because so many museums and places close as of Sept 15. Other than that, nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Reasonable room space. Nice breakfast. Easy parking on site.
Cons: Tiny bathroom. Bathroom missing soap, shampoo, ext.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Booked a room with a double bed, got a room with two twin beds pushed together. Not comfortable for a husband and wife that like to cuddle
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was lucky because there was a piano and had the opportunity to play it ! Thanks to the staff !
6.7 Good
Pros: The staff. Tried to find us a different room.
Cons: The room we got was a triple room. It was very small. Almost couldn’t open our suitcase . The interior design is also very old.
6.7 Good
Cons: Starts to look a bit tired. When we asked whether we needed to reserve for the Hotel’s restaurant, we were told it was not available due to a function - without any apology.

Pros: Very nice and interesting fisherman-tour
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff and clean room with decent breakfast included in price
Cons: Disappointed that the restaurant had closed for the season a few weeks ago and information was not available on the website.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The village was lovely and the location was great. Very nice evening meal at the restaurant
Cons: For the less able bodied the fact that there weren't handrails on the stairs to our upstairs room was a problem.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location in a small fishing village with loads of character and a great free tour they run around the village looking at the local fishing industry! Great breakfast and bar across the road which is also run by the hotel and worth booking for dinner as its the only restaurant in town and great food.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect in a quiet (really quiet) village on the edge of a fjord. I like how the hotel isn’t one building but made of various nearby properties.
Cons: Room was clean and comfortable but didn’t feel cozy. Not even any simple artwork on the walls. It felt unfinished.

Cons: A bit noise. Could hear people talking on the street.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Pancakes were nice
Cons: Icelandic shower design allows for half of bathroom floor to get flooded
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location is great - the very center of Isafjord. The room was comfortable and spacious. Breakfast buffet was quite good.
Cons: Although breakfast buffet was not bad, the food supposed to be hot (or warm, at least), in fact, was not.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Our deluxe double corner room was wonderful: clean, comfortable, large, with large windows overlooking both Hafnarstræti and Austurvegur. Smack in the middle of pleasant town, but easy parking out back. Expansive common areas and an interesting elevator speak to a former purpose. Included breakfast at nearby Hotel Ísafjörður standard good. Splurge for dinner at Tjöruhúsið if you can, though nearby Húsið a good option too.
Cons: Check-in staff at nearby Hotel Ísafjörður less than warm.

Einarshúsið - Bolungarvík - Building

8.0 Excellent (120 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Einarshúsið in Bolungarvik, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Osvor Maritime Museum and Bolungarvik Lighthouse. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The building is nice and charming (old so obviously not very soundproof but this is expected when you book such place) The late check-in was made very easy.
Cons: The fact that this was possible to book despite the fact that the holiday season was considered terminated (we stayed on August 20) so the restaurant does not operate anymore (and there is no breakfast either - obviously not charged then..) Should have we known about this upon the booking, we would have stayed elsewhere. Also the door handles were all very stiff/noisy each time other guests (and us) were entering/leaving the room (as the bathrooms are shared) so particularly annoying at night.
6.7 Good
Pros: It is a wonderful authentic house - like the Herring Era Museum you may visit(ed)... This includes the thin walls/ceiling. So it depends who's staying in the other room/enjoy the beautiful dining room downstairs, if you have a good sleep - you'll be able to hear everything... It's interesting to realise how many people lived in that such a house/in these conditions in the earlier days... We didn't meet the owner, but from the lovely design spoken they have to be very nice!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - Nice, comfortable room. - Beautiful house. - Quiet area. - Parking next to the entrance. - Sea view from the room. - Sink in the room. - Kettle to make tea and coffee. - Spacious and modern bathrooms.
Cons: - No breakfast available. - There might have been a ventilation problem as we couldn't see anything through the window because of condensed vapour. - One of the showers could use fixing - shower head grip, shower cabin doors. - The house had this 'haunted house' feeling - doors creaking, old style family portraits on the walls etc.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: we loved the location, the old, historic house was beautiful and almost a museum of the family's story. the hotel had it's own restaurant which was very good. the owner was so lovely and performs icelandic folk music with his daughter to the dinner guests every night, it was so much fun! the room was super spacious and cozy, with a sink, the bathroom always available and large. breakfast was included. the location in the end of the west fjords is very special, near the drive up the cliff with the most spectacular views.
Cons: nothing, we were super pleased to stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly, couldn’t be better!
6.3 Good
Pros: The rooms had character... and good location in Bolungarvík. Comfy bed.
Cons: We were booked in to stay for 3 nights but left after 2. Main disappointment was that it was incredibly noisy. It’s an old building with thin walls, very squeaky doors that slam shut - when people are in their rooms it almost sounds like they’re in your room. This would be fine if other guests were considerate.. on the first night we were woken at midnight by the room next to us arriving back, they proceeded to talk loudly and stomp around the hotel, sitting outside having some kind of party until 2am. The next night we had noise from loads of teenagers who were outside the hotel having some kind of party, again this was until the early hours. We also had noisy guests return around midnight. Other than noise things were ok.. room was very small which we expected (also very hot even with the radiator off - so we had to have the window open which made the noise worse). Bathroom wasn’t particularly clean, we wore flip flops in the shower. The hotel had no signs or anything to encourage guests to be considerate in terms of noise. Also, after our arrival we didn’t see a single member of staff around the place to talk to about our issues... when we left a day early we literally just had to leave the key on a table as we couldn’t find anybody. Given the amount we paid we expected better. For the same price, our alternative accommodation on the 3rd night (still in the Westfjords) was a lovely cabin with private bathroom and beautiful view.. infinitely better and we finally had a good nights sleep!
7.1 Good
Pros: Check in was easy. We arrived late and left early. The staff was already gone when we arrived but they left instructions and the key for us prior to our arrival. We only stayed one night. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was outside of our room but close, private and easily accessible. No concerns. Very close to the town of Isafjordur.
Cons: There was only instant/freeze dried coffee, a selection of teas and an Icelandic version of cream of wheat cereal set out in the morning for breakfast. If you are a coffee person be prepared to find a different spot for coffee in town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent, very confortable, authentic 1900's house.
Cons: Little rooms, but authentical.

6.7 Good
Pros: Location was quite convenient and street parking plentiful
Cons: Reception wasn’t staffed, after a phone call someone arrived, couldn’t find my booking on the hand written list, but made a call and gave me a room. Three times I was told not to use the second bed, even to put anything on. One shower/toilet per floor with six double rooms gets congested.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location very friendly staff.
Cons: A little older and worn but still awesome
8.3 Excellent
Pros: studio with kitchen corner (very good equipped), and private bathroom right to the center private parking (or at least it seemed private parking)
Cons: very narrow staircase, no elevator (with big luggage it can be a problem)
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable bed.
Cons: There was plenty of hair in the sower and water just could not go through it. Disgusting!
4.6 Okay
Pros: Bed was comfy
Cons: Shower was dirty with hairs in the shower and was constantly filling with water. Staff was really unpleasant in the way he communicates with his guests
5.4 Okay
Pros: Quite clean (common areas; they didn't even bother cleaning my room once in 19 days) and amenities are pretty good
Cons: Shower leaking + drained clogged + leaking tap in the bathroom, I didn't get the room I booked (I got downgraded, no compensation), one separate toilet without any lights but naked wires were the switch should have been (ie pretty easy to get an electric shock!) and worst of all, one of the staff member was the ruddest, most condescending and most patronising person you could ever meet. I stayed 19 nights, and not once did they change my bed sheets and the only time I got the room cleaned is because I asked for the vacuum cleaner and did it myself. It's once of the cheapest places in Isafjördur, and I see why. If you can afford it, go somewhere else.

Pros: The authenticity off the resort, this was a former bording school and the fibe is still there. They even have the largest swimmingpool Off Iceland. A few meters more than the olympic lenght. The outdoor pool, build in 1925 has a temperture of 35* Celsius and is open till 23u. I arrived at 22u so this was perfect for Some night swimming Everything is very clean, the breakfast is large and good. The owner was very helpfull and had Some great tips of the West Fjords and the South Coast. I arrived pretty late and called them 2hours in advance what they surley appreciated and offerd Some sandwiches because at that time the kitchen was closed.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Open swimming pool with natural thermal water warms and refreshes you in cold Icelandic weather.
Cons: We have been forced to pay substantial extra money for white bedding and blankets. It was not indicated in reservation, but when we arrived we have been told that this is hotel rule. It is not fear.

Pros: Great hot pool
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice location in the West Fjords. From the very polite girl at the reception to the owner, the chef - everyone was very pleasant. The goulash soup dinner was large portion - tasty! I got to use the pool a bit after breakfast. My gloves, helmet and jacket were left in the drying room by the host in the morning. Since the gloves were still a bit wet he even offered a pair of gloves I could borrow and drop off in Reykjavik!
6.3 Good
Pros: Natural springs pool...
Cons: ...that was in renovation

Pros: Quiet place, with view on coast.
Cons: The whole place hasn't been renovated since the year of building. There was a pool with hot water, but the water was too hot, so you can just go in and out, you won't be able to sit longer without burns. Don't know if that was after season, but breakfast was very poor.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Nice and warm swimming pool
Cons: Wi-Fi quality really poor
4.6 Okay
Pros: Hot pool only hotel in the region
Cons: Run down looks like it collapse in a Minute - toilet seat was loose - style like of the 60 th but price for the 90th- 164 euro for a room with shared bathroom in this run down hotel is not matching the value
8.8 Excellent
Cons: no toilet and no shower in the room. it is possible only in iceland.
