La Maison du Curé is a stone built cottage from 1823 and was the home of the parish priest of Cormatin. It is now a comfortable holiday home available all year round. There are three bedrooms which will accommodate up to 5/6 guests. All the bedrooms have their own washbasins. There are two shower rooms. The lounge has TV with French digital and English satellite channels with a DVD player. There is WiFi and telephone calls to the US are free. By the river runs the Voie Verte, a cycle track which runs 80km north to south through southern Burgundy. Taize, the famous ecumenical centre, is only about 5 minutes away by car. There are three services a day and holidaymakers are made most welcome. The monks support themselves by making and selling pottery. Cluny, 12km away, used to be the centre of the Church in Europe from the 11th century until St Peter's in Rome was built. You can appreciate the size of the Abbey which was mostly destroyed during the Revolution. Many of the surrounding villages have well preserved Romanesque churches which have changed little since the 12th century. Cormatin is in the Maconnais wine region near to the best vineyards in France. To the north is the Cote d'Or with its grand cru wines, and to the south is Beaujolais, famous for its light fruity wines. La Maison du Curé is a good base for exploring this wonderful part of south Burgundy.

Charming holiday home, beautiful surroundings. La Canarde is a former sheep barn, built in the early 18th century. It is on the edge of a wood and in a high position. The house enjoys splendid views of the valley in almost every direction. There is a large jeu-de-boules alley behind the house. You'll find a delightful, unenclosed orchard with apples, pears, cherries, quince and kiwis a little further away. The house is surrounded by the large wine areas of Burgundy. These include Chardonnay, Macon and Beaujolais. Historic medieval towns such as Cluny and Macon are not far. Autun and Beaune are a little further north. Lyon is just 70 km away. The town of Taize is a ten minute drive.
