10.0 Excellent
Pros: Dinner and the breakfast were exceptional. I will try to replicate the tomato water that was served as the first course of the dinner; it was first class and simple - a memorable serving. The wind when we arrived precluded time on the terrace, but we did appreciate the views and the potential of the south facing garden.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were very welcoming, we chose to have our meal cooked by Lars which was excellent. The rooms are beautifully furnished, with amazing views.
9.5 Excellent

Pros: Everything about Chateau Haute Roche was amazing! This was the first stop on our honeymoon and we wanted to stay somewhere nice and we were really pleased and impressed. Lars and Nirin made us very welcome and it felt more like staying with good friends than anything else. I would really recommend having a dinner cooked by Lars as this was excellent, it is fine dining with local produce on the terrace of a chateaux, amazing! We will definitely try and return soon.

Pros: Lovely comfy bed.Great shower room. A real treat having Michel bring fresh croissants and bread every morning, plus a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice on the first morning.Great. The Loire is just over the road, wonderful.
Cons: The kitchen to the studio flat is very small, but, extremely well equipped.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in the city centre. Parking at the appartement. Great room at the back of the house and very silent! Very good bed. Good shower! Free breakfast and Michel is a very nice owner
Cons: Nothing! I give it a 10!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Just perfect. Loved everything about Michel’s place. I’m a sucker for kitchen appliances and he has the best of all of it!! The place was clean to the highest standard. Nothing to do with the apartment, but if you want to buy anything, you need to do it between 10-12 or 14-16. We got caught out with no diapers while all the shops around were shut.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The gite was in a great location and so quiet and peaceful. The studio room was large and with a very comfortable bed. The kitchen was very basic but adequate though a really tight squeeze! It was rather odd that the kitchen area was not private from the other occupants and the garden open to anyone to use but that was not a problem in the event. Thank you for the breakfasts on Mondays when the local bread shop was closed. I was grateful for the rubbish management because the closer places to take it were controlled by access tags. Parking was fairly easy to find and the parking permit being available was very useful on occasion. The town itself felt safe and friendly.
Cons: I would have liked a kettle in the very small kitchen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Michel has gone out of his way to help us, from early breakfast, bike cleaning, picnic supper on the Loire river, lovely clean friendly accommodation. Superb and reasonably priced
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All you could ever need this property has it. We felt more comfortable than in our own house.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superbly appointed apartment close the river, shops, restaurants and bars. The host could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Michel and Christine were very welcoming and helpful. The kitchen and sitting room were very well equipped. The location was excellent - Ancenis is so pretty with good road links and local attractions.
Cons: For the two of us us and our little dog, the accommodation was too small. There was very little hanging space or storage space for clothing. Consequently, we lived out of suitcases. Our dog hated the open tread staircase which he refused to use. We hated the lavatory in the sitting room, separated from the sitting room by just a sliding door. A very small step at the top of the stairs was a safety hazard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location and the calm. The tenant welcome and sympathy and kind attention (offered us breakfast :-))

Pros: The location was just out of the way enough for the quiet of the countryside next to the canal. Peaceful but beautiful.
Cons: All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived on our bikes in the rain and received such a warm reception. Even better, we had ordered the dinner platters and there was a fully stocked honesty bar so we didn't need to go out again in the rain. The food was excellent and the location is so beautiful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Brilliant converted lock keeper cottage on canal. It has a few bedrooms which are practical and comfortable Warm and happy welcome from owner. You can order a cold meal, vegetarian or meat platter, plus wine, bread etc. The owner does not sleep on the property. You are left to make yourself at home . Sorry but I forgotten our super hostess` name. She arrived in the morning with fresh bread etc for breakfast, which was eaten with the other guests. Without doubt this was one of the highlights of our Velodyssee trip. From there we cycled to the next village and took the train, with bikes, to Nantes, making our trip so much easier....thanks for that invaluable advice!
Cons: Nothing. Wish there were more places like this on the canal routes through France.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: marvellous location, walking along the canal in the morning mist was lovely. Very quiet too, no traffic noise.-
Cons: Should have taken more provisions; some bread, milk, a couple of beers maybe. A long way from shops etc and all bars in Nort shut at 8pm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Right next to the canal cycle path. A fair distance from the nearest town so we accepted the offer of a simple meal from our host, which was fine. It was unusually cold for the time of year but a heater was provided.
7.5 Good
Pros: I noted the charges on location at Euros 52 per night, so why did I pay over £86. I will be complaining to Booking.com - I feel badly 'stung'
Cons: It is a simple gite and well worth the E52 for a stunning location, but certainly NOT worth £86

Pros: This restored manor was part of a larger complex which runs corporate training events. Parking was good, the room was OK and dinner in the restaurant was satisfactory but not good value for money in our opinion. We arranged breakfast for 8.30am but when we arrived there was nothing out for us - it looked like a corporate group had eaten it all. Not impressed.
Cons: Quite a lot.

Pros: This is a fantastic Hotel the owner and his staff were all excellent, I location is good and grounds it is set in are well maintained.
Cons: My only criticism is trying to find the hotel there were no GPS coordinates on the Booking.com web site so it took a few phone calls to find the property so if you can put this additional detail in it would be very helpful to other travellers wishing to find the property.

Our only regret was that we were not stating longer to get to know the village and surrounds better

Pros: Everything about our stay was exceptional from start to finish; our hostess, Chris, produced a fabulous four-course meal with wine, and a delicious breakfast was served the next day with croissants fresh from the boulangerie, and home-made conserves. We discussed politics, wine and history around the table with other guests - and put the world to rights. Our bedroom was huge, with antique furnishings and quality bedding and towels. The staircase was just beautiful and the whole property has been renovated to an extremely high standard. Although off the beaten track, Le Manoir de la Vieille Douve is definitely worth a detour and with Chris and Charles' plans to create some gîtes in one of the barns, along with their already completed large indoor swimming pool, we will definitely be returning soon. Cons: As a warning to other guests - the accommodation is located quite far from any amenities (grocery stores, restaurants etc). The distance is only a few minutes drive but not easily walkable. You need to make a reservation at the restaurants in Lire and Ancenis. We didn't have a reservation and struggled to find somewhere to have dinner (on a Saturday night)

Pros: Comfortable beds, beautiful architecture with period features - all with an interesting historical background. Accommodating hosts - we got special provisions for my son for breakfast.

Pros: Everything about our stay here was brilliant - the warmth of the welcome, the palatial bedroom and common areas, the grounds, the breakfast. The location was very convenient for our trips to Nantes and Angers which are both well worth a visit. We really cannot fault Palais Briau in any respect.
Cons: Leaving.

Pros: Incredible place to be.

Pros: Completely authentic to its own history, unspoilt and bursting with character. The owner was absolutely lovely, and their love for the property was obvious in every way.

Pros: This is quite a jaw dropping property and why it and other chateaux like it are not full every night is a mystery to me. Yes, the place was empty for 40 years after the war when the Germans bombed it and thankfully missed the chateau and hit the outbuildings instead, but the current owners have worked hard to restore and keep the magnificent palace going, and it has real character. The rooms are sumptuous and original. The breakfast is well above the ordinary continental served at other places. The property lends itself to a few days swanning around the grand rooms and the extensive grounds, which includes a long stretch of a tributary of the Loire River itself. I was there last year and this year and I will try and go back next year.
Cons: That I couldn't stay longer.
