Breakfast was very good. Bar staff nice. I found that the room was a liitle on the cold side, even though turning the heating up didnt help. There was not heating in the Bathroom.
Rooms were of a very high standard.
The room and staff were fantastic Breakfast was to slow and was over cooked
We didn't like anything best, the whole package, staff, rooms, bar, food were all very, very good. Nothing at all.
check in receptionist was very rude
The bar area, the atmosphere was really nice. The food in the bar wasnt great and my room was on the front on the hotel and the i could hear all the road traffic.
the room is so comfy, big screen, huge bed
All the staff were very friendly & helpful, has been beautifully re decorated As stated earlier, the road outside is a little noisy so double glazing would be a great help
The hotel was very stylish, and very comfortable Issue with the radiators but no management were available over the weekend to speak to
a nice clean and comfortable hotel and in a good location. very friendly staff.concidering it was cold outside we were nice and warm inside.
Comfortable and warm rooms. Friendly staff. Good location. Great hearty breakfast. Great value for money.
This was easily one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in many years. Leaves the city hotels standing. Room was in the old part of the hotel and was huge. Staff couldnt be more helpful or pleasant and the food exceeded my expectations. I could not critise the hotel in any way.
Friendly staff Room was too warm. No way to regulate temperature
We enjoyed the service and grounds. The noisy radiators that kept me awake in room 107!!
We were early for breakfast and the porter arranged for an early breakfast for us.
Hotel was well appointed with very friendly and helpful staff Room was far too hot and stuffy
luxurious setting as yet! no out door cover for smokers
2nd time my girlfriend and i have stayed there , could not fault this great hotel a deserved mention to kate the receptionist , ........and the little girl ghost..............sceptic to believer....................
the hotel was a major part of the enjoyment i had for my first visit to the lakes
gardens, the building and decor Our room was overlooked by windows of bar and room above so we needed to close curtains for privacy. Several people in room next door making a lot of noise and sounding drunk and argumentative. I asked reception to do something at around 2-00 am but nothing had been done when I called again at 2-20 am. At 2.30 some people left the room, but an argument continued, keeping us awake until 3 am. That argument was at normal volume, but the walls seem quite thin and we had to endure every word. At around 2.30 the lights in our room went out. The emergency light stayed on in the bathroom but it went off at dawn leaving the unwindowed bathroom in darkness. I called reception later and the lights were restored.
Rang ahead at 7:45 PM to advise hotel we were running late and would not arrive until 10:00 PM. An answer phone message stated they were away from the phone but to leave a message and number for them to ring back. Arrived at hotel at 10:00 PM without having heard from them. The reception was closed and nobody in sight. Found a phone with a sign above it and five phone numbers listed. The sign advised that late arrivals should ring the first three numbers first. We did this and all three were not working. The sign further stated that if no answer on the first three numbers then try the fourth. This number rang on for ever. The sign finally stated that in the event the fourth number did not answer then try the last one. This number also rang on for ever. After 30 minutes of searching the hotel and trying numbers we gave up. Outrageous! We did find the Hotel Pennington in Ravenglass an absolute salvation and surprising discovery. Not only did they honour the Muncaster booking they gave us two rooms as they had no twins left. The rooms were a high standard and recently refitted. WIFI throughout the hotel and a superb breakfast. Don't bother with the Muncaster - go straight to the Pennington!
Situated on castle grounds, amazing amenities, so much to explore! Rooms are basic and small, as they are in a refurbished medieval building.
Really enjoyed our stay. Not much in walking distance of the hotel.
Not a lot Cleanliness / Staff sat about after shifts finished slagging off hotel and moaning about understaffing and Faulty Towers likeness / No availability of the room I booked / Meals not very good, ran out of steak, toast didn't arrive with breakfast if at all. / Place was dirty.
The room itself was very comfortable but the lighting, intended to be cosy and intimate, was just dingy and it was not easy to read after daylight, despite bedside spotlights. Beyond the room, the place is in urgent need of refurbishment.
T he gardens and the ground wonderfullthe staff very very helpfull. Concerns about the cleanliness of the pool.
The quality of the food served at this hotel was magnificent. The two nights we stayed here we experienced proberly the best two meals that we had tasted in a long time. The pool facilities were very enjoyable and we had a very relaxing time. For the price that we had paid for the experience of such a room we were very disappointed with the mattress on the bed. It was not comfortable at all. In fact it was very uncomfortable. You could feel the springs in your back and rear end and i Got up in the morning with a sore back. We also felt that for this type of room that a dvd player and free wi-fi in the room wouldn't be too much to ask. Although the staff at reception were very pleasant i felt that a lot more local information could maybe have been relayed, for example we found out from another establishment were we had a lunch at that the zoo was doing free admission, but no one at our hotel had told us this.
Lesure facilities. Real Ale
the friendliness of the staff, the comfort and the quality of the food could not find fault
Reception staff very friendly and helpful. There was everything we required in the room. Good swimming pool. Good centre point for the places we were visiting. The restaurant really lacked atmosphere and the food was tasty but not worth the money. We would have been better off in the bar. No bread, rolls or croissants at breakfast other than the toast they provided from the kitchen.
Not much. The jacuzzi bath? Nothing else. Poor service. Poor standard of cleanliness. Food poor. No feedback from Manager over a complaint. Appalling value for money
pleasant staff and a comfortable atmosphere in an ideal location for day trips to most of the areas attractions including the lake steamers. Excellent breakfast. winding passage ways to the room situated over the indoor pool. Bar meals perhaps used some re-heated food?
Its location near to Sellafield and leaving The room was tiny, cold, damp, smelled and the shower was difficult to make work (known fault as notice on door).
I liked it all, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was small yet perfectly adequate and very clean. The food was brilliant. I'll be back again. Nothing to put here. Even the locals were very friendly.
Food was delicious and excellent value for money.
the location no
The view from the window was very picturesque and the public bar was comfortable and rooms were ok. The water pressure from the shower was very disappointing, nearly had to help the water out, that was the same in both rooms that we booked.
Excellent breakfast - lovely setting - pleasant staff - very comfortable room - quiet setting. There was nothing to dislike about the hotel at all. The only problem was the wet weather made the path way up into the village extremely wet and muddy and walking on the road was not really safe. Wellingtons were essential! Perhas the local authority may re-surface given time and funding.
Excellent location. 5 minute stroll to the centre of Coniston.
Staff were very friendly and helpfull. The location and views were fab. Rooms were clean and bathrooms recently modernised. Had a problem getting hot water from shower but this was sorted out straight away by friendly receptionist.
The location, the kindness of staff and the views
Brilliant location at the head of Coniston Water with superb views. Lots of opportunity for countryside walks. Excellent breakfasts.
The location is ideal for walking/rambling straight from the door. The view from the dining room window is superb.
friendly staff, pleasant surrounding, good food
evrything was good
An Excellent hotel with excellent helpful staff, very nice food. A good place to relax, and what a location. no complaints
friendly staff made us most welcome
recently refurbished. friendly staff, good customer service. the food was excellent nothing
Very welcoming friendly staff. Clean modern room. Excelent food and service. Relaxed atmosphere. nothing, everything was perfect
Room and food was excellent. Very modern room in old building. Large & well appointed. Excellent bathroom en suite. Heating went off during (bitterly cold) night. Used hotel wifi and was 'virus' attacked (my software stopped attack). Superb food but slightly overpriced?
Size of room, decor was fresh and gave the whole place a light, airy feel. Bed extremely comfortable. Dining room lovely and fresh looking. Whole place felt comfortable and pleasant to be in. Staff were helpful and friendly. Thought the hotel filled a much needed niche in accomodation for the area.We enjoyed our stay very much and would certainly return. Resturant did not have anything on the menu for vegetarians. Limited choice of continental breakfast for the price. Flooring in entrance very shabby and did not give good first impression whereas the rest of the hotel was excellent. Needs a good cleaning, but to be fair, renovation work was ongoing and had not been completely finished so this may be on the schedule.
everything it was fantastic
This was an excellent hotel, location fantastic, the view of the esturary was brilliant, I was tempted to go for a walk, but it was -2 outside. Stayed on business, will return with my partner to really enjoy hotel and location It look a bit less than ideal from the outside, but inside 5 star.
Large modern room well above our expectations. Pleasant friendly staff. Modern bar area with little atmosphere, more a waiting area for dining
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and the overall comfort of the hotel. No, the stay was perfect.
Breakfast was excellent We were booked into the family room which was fantastic, however whilst we were out of the hotel another family arrived demanding the family room and all our personal belonging were moved to 2 double rooms without our permission. These 2 room were next to the main road and gravel car park making the night stay very uncomfortable.
Beautiful hotel fabulous grounds, 5 star accomodation and fantastic food!
Food is excellent It can get very busy in the restaurant in the evening as it is very popular with the locals as well.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the difference between first external impressions of the hotel and the area it was situated and the reality of what was a very pleasant stay. Its location
Pleasant enough hotel for those visiting Barrow on a limited budget, food was value for money and the bar a useful facility given the weather at this time of year
The quick resolution of a problem with a window. The poite and friendly resolution of the problem with a SKY TV box.
the morning staff where freindly for breakfast. The moment we arrived untill the morning when we sat down for breakfast we didnt feel welcome at the hotel. we arrived at the venue and no one seemed to know what room i was staying in or how to book me in. Loud music the night we stayed. the owner did state to me that this was the only night they had entertainment at the venue and we were unlucky to pick that night. didnt help the fact i didnt get much sleep.
Spacious room, comfortable pillows and bed There was no desk in the room and there was a problem receiving telephone calls ( as well as connecting to wireless)
The staff were very friendly and the the hotel as a whole had a welcoming atmosphere. It was all lovely.
Room was clean and comfortable, quiet and convenient for my purposes; freshly cooked breakfast excellent Room appeared to be close to completion of a refurbishment, so some minor "rough edges". I'm sure they'll be easily tidied.
Welcoming, clean, warm & brill breakfast ... :)
the staff that were there were very helpful, although they could of done with more staff!!
location ran out of food items on the evening and breakfast - mushrooms bacon onion rings
