Friendly staff, lovely room ( 101), great food. Room 101 had a poor bathroom. The wash basin plug did not function , could not hold water in the bowl. Poor shower arrangement, cubicle too small, no óver bath ´shower, which is the best system.
It was a very relaxing weekend. We had the good fortune to be lodged in what used to be the Mother Superior's room and this room has beautiful frescos on all the walls. Because this is an old restored building, there was an unpleasant smell from the plumbing in the bathroom.
Beautiful building and a lovely room. Apart from the palace, not a great deal to see or do in Vila Vicosa.
Listening piano during the night. Pleasant places to rest inside the hotel. Peaceful and quite. Very good and complete breakfast.
the hotel itself is good, we stayed there before some years ago, the room was somewhat in disrepair
beautiful building, good facilities and very helpful and friendly staff
Traditional well preserved building. Excellent choice if one needs to rest. Big room with a balcony. Internet is very expensive. Drinks in the bar are ridiculous expensive if compared with Portuguese 5stars hotels standards. Even the bottle of water which they "provided" has a label with the price of 3 Eur...
Lovely town with quiet environment and lots to see. Pousada rooms were good. Food in Restaurant was excellent with good regional menu at Euro 20 inc wine and coffee. Very helpful Restaurant Maitre. Stayed three nights and enjoyed the relaxation. Bathroom toilet flush did not work properly and there was no ventilation working in the toilet. Complained each day but nothing was done.
The staff at reception were very helpful and attentive. Service in bar and restaurant was very good. We were a little taken aback to find the only access from the car park had steps and no railings. The weather was wet and so this made for some difficulty for one of our party.
Best thing, the situation, within the city walls, nice views, nicely kept garden. The 5 stars rating is misleading as one expects 5 stars facilities and service. The room was too small, without a single chair to seat down, and only a tiny window, placed too high to allow to see the beautiful view. Tasteless decoration.
The tea served at the evening on the bedroom. It is a simple, but very good idea.
we are living and feeling the peace and tranquility of Alentejo-we are out of the world war
Place around. The house it self (Convento)
the location is really beautiful, the building is remarkable, but ... the hotel equipment is old, we booked a superior room but got an old room on the backside with no view at all, and the hotel was far from totally booked, the hotel needs to be renewed for it to be classified as 4****, now it is like 2** or 3***. they have everything for it to be a beautiful hotel, but not as it is now, prices far too high
Historic aspect, atmosphere, site smeel in room
Beautiful hotel and grounds. Very romantic setting. Good breakfast, exceptional dinner at the restaurant. Very friendly English-speaking staff. Nothing
Our only stay at a Castle-Pousada, on our 21 day trip. If we could've afforded it, we would have stayed at more. Because we felt almost like a king and queen... Service superb! No
Nice pool outside. As well I liked the old furnitures and decorations in the alleys. Bathroom was with marble and was not so comfortable as modern bathrooms.
Architecture of the hotel, room, pool, breakfast Ambient in the dining room (musique like in the church)
nice setting, helpful staff. it needs a face lift. rooms small, furniture worn and the a/c wasn't effective ( working at all) in the 97 degree temperature. Dinner was ok but nothing to write home about.
The decor, the service, the food and the room comfort.
We were surprised that an hotel could perform at all with the small level of activity that we encountered during our stay. It may be that the Hotel lives off tours and that the guests were out for the evening that we spent there. Service is helpful but a stay in an apparently empty hotel is not exciting. Thanks for your interest. J.E.Triay
Staff helpful Not easy to get to by Car as signs to Pousada are incorrect unless walking. Large car trapped in narrow streets when there is a much safer and better route not identified at Estremoz or on the Sat Nav
Special experience to stay in an old castle. The value you get for the money paid was not what you can expect for the same price somewhere else. The bathrooms were pretty old and there was mildew on the walls. However the experience to stay in an old castle was special, but expensive compared to the other hotels we stayed in during our holiday in Portugal.
historic value and history
design of the interiors Breakfast No frigo in the room
Very conmfortable with elegant decor and high standards of service.
Really friendly and relaxed atmosphere, central location, free internet use, rooms are very clean and a really big bathroom
Location. kindness of cleaning lady It was a nice hotel until 1-2 years ago. now it has a problem of employees and maintenance. unfriendly mature woman at the reception. breaksfast disappointing. humidity stigmas on the walls of the room. air conditionning not working. the mini-swimming pool coul be more clean. loud music from a sort of bar-disco in front of the entrance.
Very nice breakfast, great modern design and perfect location. Swimming pool area is nice, but the water needs to be cleaned a bit.
The perfect example of a "boutique" hotel - warm, friendly, personable and welcoming. Perfect blending of old and new, with a well thought layout plan with the guests confort in mind. All the amenities room one may need.
very pleasant atmosphere and excellent staff.
Everything. Price/Quality ratio
A very Nice hotel. Fully restored from an heritage building. Nice staff with a healthy breakfast
The localization is excellent if you want to explore the main attractions of Vila Viçosa. The staff was very helpful. It is difficult to ark near the Hotel.
General cleanliness, adequate equipment, good bar, good breakfast, polite and service-oriented personnel. The minibar prices are too expensive.
English spoken. Quiet rural setting. Made it easy to tour countryside. Handy to main roads No
the staff were excellent and extremely helpful and this was the highlight of the stay at the hotel. nothing- everything was very good
Helpful staff. The restaurant had excellent service and decor. The price was quite good considering. However the choice was limited to stone at the table cooked meat. SHower did not work so I had to take a bath instead.
Very nice hotel and wonderfull breakfast, the best I meet during the holiday. Nothing
friendly staff, price very reasonable the bed was too hard
pleasant atmosphere, calm after hard drive, good restaurant.
Really nice staff and very quite hotel.
Nice place, with good conditions A bit far from a city
Good price, excellent service
Facilities are very nice and look brand new, decorated with very good taste. Extraordinary service. Location is a downside (small village with no attractions, not that close to Estremoz), but this is compensated with the wonderful facility. Indispensable to have a car.
Staff friendliness, calm and relaxing location, served food and wine list. Garden equipment needs maintenance, restaurant menu variety and wine list presentation.
i have a query regarding payment of booking please(contact me on 00447775724880
The grounds and facilities of the hotel were beautiful. The rooms are simple but quite adequate. The one English-speaking staff person was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help us several times during our stay. Breakfast was lovely and ample. Nice to have restaurant on premises since hotel is in rural area. Dinner was very good the one night we ate there. No late night/overnight desk personnel so not clear what would happen in case of emergency. Not accessible without car.
Very quiet Unable to have food at lunch time. Quality of dinner was disappointing
I liked the peace and quiet and the staff being friendly.
The peace and quiet, the quality of the establishment and attention to detail all made for a perfect short stay, the next visit will be for a longer period.
It was a lovely relaxing place.
The place, a small alentejo rural museum
Staff pleasant and welcoming. Dinner available and good value. Breakfast intitially stated to be from 9.30 am, but staff agreed to serve it at 8.30 without fuss. Very quiet at night. Room small but comfortable, good bed and linen.
The accomodations are comfortable and quiet with an excellent dining room attached. The owner takes a personal interest in his guests and made our stay very memorable.
it's a quiet place, with nice views
Lovely scenery and installations. Could be a bit cheaper, but the rooms are quite nice.
The owner is a superb example to hoteliers everywhere. Nothing too much trouble, his property is in first class order with cleanliness to match. If you need accommodation in this area look no further. And an added advantage for those of us whose Portuguese is very limited, his English is very good. a warm and welcoming place. None at all
The owner was very good
Great value for money. A beautiful place with the most friendly people! Highly recommended if you want to feel the true Alentejo spirit. The Alqueva lake (the Great Lake) is nearby and should be visited.
This beautiful house is amazing! The owner, Manuela, is so kind and helpful that made us feel at home. The rooms are impecable clean and the pool so quiet and peaceful. The garden is beautiful. In the morning breakfast was amazing... with good products and tipical cakes and cheese and 'chouriços'... you can wake up anytime and you will have the table set for you and everything perfect... I highly recomend this place if you want silence and peace and enjoy a luxury place... Also you are in Vila Viçosa's center, you can visit the village walking! None! :)
