Bar and dining area very pleasant. Cooked breakfast was ok. Plenty of parking area. Stayed here several years ago and experienced a very enjoyable experience with the then hosts. On arrival the staff member at reception had great difficulty raising a smile and made not the slightest effort to make us feel welcome.Only on arrival were we informed there was no toilet in the room--it was across the corridor and turned out to be very tired looking and dated. The receptionist then asked if not having a toilet in the room was a problem. We made it clear that we had anticipated en-suite facilities and asked if there was an alternative room.We were told quite bluntly that there wasn'T.For the price we expected en-suite facilities. We were given no info.as to what time breakfast was served or where it was served---we had to ask. The shower was very small and difficult to access. The sink was miniscule. When arriving at 07.30 for breakfast(served 7.00 till 09.00)there was no-one around. We helped ourselves to cereal and juice and waited patiently. At 7.45 after going to look for any signs of movement to progress our breakfast the same member of staff from the previous evening finally appeared. There was no greeting and no apology for not being present earlier. Whilst eating our cooked breakfast there was loud swearing between staff in the kitchen who appeared oblivious to the fact that we could hear them from where we were seated in the dining area.
Friendly staff and ambience Uneven surface in the corridor; romm a little cramped and the bed decidedly hard
Located in a charming village where there are some walks in nice countryside Room was small with minimal furnishing. Bathroom also small with utalitarian fittings. Room on ground floor next to gravel road to car park so some traffic noise. Overall the price of room very excessive considering quality of accommodation
The bar area was pleasant - as were the staff. Did not dine here, but breakfast was pretty good, though not exceptional. The room was very tired and badly furnished - though the beds were ok. Our room was not fully en-suite. There was a small sink and a badly functioning shower. (Although friends also staying had full en suite facilities) The toilet - which was very old and a litytle grubby was across the corridor and we were not made aware of this at time of booking. Carpet was cheap and grubby.
Nice location, good breakfast. Lack of routine maintenance let the room down - shower was not working properly, shower door broken, wardrobe door broken. Room decor and furniture old and tired.
Friendly atmosphe. Good food esp breakfast.
We did not stay as on seeing the room it was not as described online and did not have a toilet in the room. The manager was very understanding and said she would not charge us for the room and we left to go home. The online description is totally misleading and the hotel is nothing like the photos.
Friendly and full of character. Great cask ales and good food.
the food was not of a good standard and generally the place needed a good clean on the surface it looked good but was not
We have no criticism. The food and staff were excellent. Excellent value for money. nothing to say
Very clean, excellent staff - very friendly. Breakfast not huge but adequate fresh and tasty. Lovely outlook from window. Hotel easy to find and lots of free parking. I checked in early without problems too. A few things could have been better, the walls were paper thin (with neighbours that only shouted at each other although this was not the fault of the hotel) and the shower was just a trickle despite the bathroom looking like it was newly fitted. The bar was expensive too. Bed was very very soft and unfortunately the duvet was not large enough for the two single-sized beds that had been pushed together - it seemed like a king sized duvet for a superking sized bed.
Every thing was extremely well organised and as a family group (of old grumpies) we had a grand time. Thank you Nothing
Friendly, helpful, staff.Decent room with excellent TV and WI-FI in room. I would certainly stay again evening bar meal was no better than average
The friendliness of the staff
Great breakfast, bed was really comfortable, friendly staff The room was snug (but comfortable) and could have done with a fan as it was really warm
Pleasant location, comfortable room and excellent food. Yes, the bathroom shower.....there appears to be a problem with flow force....in this one I was chasing water!
The food and the staff were great, we had a comfortable room , it was clean and had what we needed the bathroom did not have a plug in the washbasin!
Friendliness of staff and excellent food Room was quite noisy, possibly due to extractor fans in the kitchen
I was unfortunately taken ill while staying at the hotel and I couldn't thank the owner richard reid enough for the time he spent with me ,helping me through the pain I was in and also collecting me from peterborough hospital when I was discharged None
Appreciated flexibility over needing early breakfast on day on departure. Enjoyed cooked breakfast on other day Parking was an issue and steep stairs with our luggage.
Central location. Very noisy plumbing and loud nightclub very nearby
Good sized room, comfortable bed, nice decor, good shower, excellent breakfast apart from cardboard sausages! Staff very approachable, helpful and provided fresh milk for room when asked. If they ensure door locks work easily I have no problem in recommending a stay here. The bedroom door (room number 12) would not lock / unlock without considerable time and effort. We would be dead if there had been a fire. Adjoining room doors not locked and no way of locking them, though something had been placed on the other side of the other room's door - to prevent escape in the event of a fire?!. Lol. Bar prices are truly extortionate. Meal prices very reasonable. Eat, but don't drink!
Late noise outside (bedroon over courtyard of smokers) and in early morning cleaning staff. Bathroom had not been cleaned for monthshair in sink/floor/shower. Bo remote control for tv! And needed a good carpet clean!
Efficient, friendly, clean and quiet location. Breakfasts - a fantastic selection and excellent food.
Everything, really enjoyed the breakfast though None
Lovely room with good quality bedding. Fantastic breakfast and attentive waiting staff in the restaurant The corridor leading to our room smelt of cigarette smoke, but our room was fine. We wanted to eat our evening meal in the restaurant but were unable to get in. The swim wear int he leisure facility was very extravagantly priced so we didn't buy anything and consequently didn't use this facility.
the staff were brilliant, they couldn't do enough for you and the rooms were very comfortable and clean The only thing we didn't like about the hotel was that it was cold everywhere, the room had a extra heater in but still cold and the bathroom was really cold. I know the weather was cold all over the country but it was on the weather that it was going to be extremely cold I would have thought that a big hotel chain would know this and make the changes that were necessary
The grounds arrownd the hotel where well kept as was the interior the few staff we met were very helpfull and all apeared to have time too interact
Welcoming receptionist, comfortable bedroom, well positioned for the A1 The hot buffet for breakfast could have been hotter - everything apart from my husband's feshly made fried eggs was warm at best.
Besides my frustration with Active Hotels for not informing Marriott of our booking, the stay was O.K. It could have been great if a proper room was available to offer. The problem was not with the hotel but with this Active Hotel site and booking system. Active Hotel had not informed the hotel of our booking done 5 days earlier. Marriott Peterborough had a big event going on so being that they where not aware of our arrival, they fortunately gave us the last " emergency" room available.
comfortable beds and room alowing screaming children in bar area
The staff were excellent and the hotel was very clean and comfortable.
Comfortable and trouble free stay! Excellent room - 257, very quiet. Helpful and friendly staff. Have stayed on previous occasions and will do so again. None
helpfulness of staff, cleanliness and location no lift (elevator)
great location and a great staff.
Room was too hot
even with thermostat turned off;the room was very warm all night.
Friendly staff Slow to check out. Needed more staff on at this peak time. Very noisy outside on sat night
city center location
Excellent restaurant Heating a little too high
visit the area
It's an old hotel which has been very well modernised without spoiling its character. No problems at all.
Good location and comfortable room
Always clean, staff always friendly. None
The pool and leisure facilities Our room was very near to the pool house and the pump room was rather noisy
Welcoming and friendly staff. Swimming pool very nice (and warm)
The facilities were great and the staff welcoming. Room was clean and well cleaned. Breakfast buffet was outstanding - consistently good and well stocked, again with attentive staff.
The staff were very friendly. And the facilities were very relaxing .
Very, very comfy beds and rooms. Reception and bar staff were very friendly. We didn't notice a lift!! No drinks in the rooms! We do like a night-cap.
Easy parking. The room was extrememly dusty, the waste bin had not been emptied from the previous guests. The expelair in the bathroom did not work. There were holes in the duvet cover. The room we booked was supposed to be 'Superior', but we were allocated a standard room. The cost on your site was the same for both types of room so we could do nothing about it. Also, the cleaner knocked to clean our room at 930am when we weren't mean to leave until midday!
It was in a location that was central for exploring that part of the U.K. Did not find the staff approachable or positive.
The bedroom was great. The bed was huge and very comfy. The food was good, and the staff was very welcoming. The general atmosphere was very nice.
The king size bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were soft. Reception staff unwelcoming; pool/spa facilities cramped (web page has a misleading picture); breakfast was a shambles because staffing level inadequate for number of guests (no table ready, then chairs missing - had to rectify this ourselves. Self-serve food was old, cold and looked very unappetising. Restaurant manager over-ruled a waiter who wanted to provide us with fresh plates of food by insisting we use the awful self-serve bar)
the draft drinks in the bar were awful. and there are no fridges in the
Beautiful bed and great service. N/A
Excellent - good value for money, clean and smelt new and modern. Nice and central. Great to be able to park. Good bar and restaurant. More tea in room please! Shower only.
Excellent city centre location with lots of free parking
Good position & facilities Breakfast too expensive to purchase !!!!!
Check in v quick, spotlessly clean, friendly bar staff and close to Town centre Bar prices rather high, shortage of some brands of drink, check in staff quick but rather cold, pillows to soft (but that is a personal thing)
Hotel was clean, comfortable and reasonable space in room. Lack of cupboards and drawers in room. At least I suppose if you don't have anywhere to tuck things away you are less likely to leave anything!
Modern, clean and central
Clean and bright considering the busy road the windows did a great job of keeping all noise out. More pillows would have been more comfortable.
Its so close to the town Breakfast was not included in this deal and is quite expensive
Good size bedroom, a lovely big bathroom. The room was very clean. Good location to shopping area Bedroom and Bathroom was freezing cold, heating made a loud noise during the night, There was a private party each night we were there so could use the bar area, loud music till very late. Room service the food was luke warm when it arrived.
I thought our room was really lovely. The bed was huge and the bathroom was a very high standard. We had a very good night sleep indeed. The carvery lunch was below par, especially for the price of £22 per head.
service was slow the rooms had not got any internal information in them. the bar prices were very high in the function room, lower in the main bar, why! and a £5.00 charge for room service at 19.00 was a bit steep as the kitchen was open. it was very comfortable
Nice large room, decent beds. Room slightly tired in places.
Gym and Spa facilities. Breakfast service and speed. Check in staff not engaged and poorly trained. Unimpressed by the canteen style carvery for evening dinner. As said by other reviewers the length my room was away from the bar, restaurant, leisure club.
Concierge was very helpful and obliging-facilities appeared to be excellent but we had no time on this visit to use them
Used the gym & the pool, also dined in the evening at the main resturant & bar. The resturant staff were very slow, we waited over half an hour for drinks and had to ask twice for them as the first waiter had forgotten.
The Staff were good, and the views and surrounding area very good indeed. Our double bed was very uncomfortable as the mattress needed being replaced as it had collapsed in the middle. That's very poor for a DE Vere hotel!
nice pool/ gymn. very good supper. good, charming, helpful service. absolutely no noise insulation. was woken many times by people passing outside the door. heard every intimate detail of the man in the room above's night-time visit to the toilet. very poor night's sleep
relaxed atmosphere.luxurious surroundings.restaurant and bar staff extremely professional and helpful.nothing was too much trouble.
The leisure facilities, were very good. An excellent gym with machines and free weights, Squash ,Swimming etc. The restaurant served quality food, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only minor point is it is a large hotel and it can be a hike to your room! But then the facilities are on a larger scale. So it's swings and round -a-bouts.
Location, bar Smell of food in rooms in main part of hotel
The bed was very comfortable and the food at the hotel was very good.
central location, facilities in the hotel, room size and comfort, special discount rates
Room was cold - no heating and window open. Wet shower meant that the bathroom was unusable after showering. Very small room. No space in dining room, had to eat in annex. Room access key expired before departure time.
Our room was absolutely beautiful and extremely spacious. It was great value for money and very handy for Stamford centre. Our room was located in the Cottage, across the courtyard from the main building, the whole property is lovely and feels very secluded, and romantic. There was a wonderful breakfast provided in the morning and check out was a bit later than usual. We would definitely stay here again. The only downside of our lovely room was that our enormous king size bed was in fact 2 single beds pushed together which left a huge ridge running right down the middle of our bed. This made it very uncomfortable! Also as we were checking out we found a notice written in very small text on the back of our key packet that we were entitled to a complimentary round of drinks in the hotel bar on our first night in the hotel. No one had mentioned this to us or pointed it out which was a bit annoying as we had had a few drinks in the bar.
The staff were very good, food very good & super central location. It was warm in the room (below freezing outside). Very comfortable bed & bedding. We were in room 45, the Hayloft, it was seperate from the rest of the hotel (not a problem) but the low celings were. I have lumps on my head to prove it & I'm only 5ft 7ins. Our friends room in the mail building vas fine.
The quality and attention to detail of the room furnishings and the general attitude and service provided.
Good location for centre of Stamford - friendly helpful staff especially restaurant booking by web-site did not reveal room allocated was on top floor of town house - not suitable for unfit over 70's. Room was moved to hotel (room 4) but situated opposite to premises to disco that played loud music until early hours on both nights of our stay
Very nice large room, good food in restaurant. Excellent location for town of Stamford. Radiator wasn't working properly - and it was bitterly cold. They did provide an electric fire. Bathroom very small, not much room to move around.
Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms Car park was too small
A well cleaned room with adequate facilities. very convenient for East of England show ground air co/ heating not working properly. Shower, although thermostatic, was inclined to variable temperatures
Reliability, in a word. You know what to expect and it is delivered.
Basic good value for money. Ac in room. Excellent shower. Comfortable bed. Helpful front desk staff. None
Nicely appointed rooms and very quiet. No soap in the shower dispencer, the towels are too small ( hand towels only), one light not working over the desk area.
The rooms are excellent value for money. Well designed rooms are very comfortable. Staff were most friendly and helpful. No complaints!
It has all the necessitities in the room and it is always quiet N/A
Good shower, I like the big squeezy bottles of shower gel and soap (greener than individual soaps that get binned after one night), quiet given the location. Excellent for a budget hotel to provide a hairdryer in room and hot chocolate on the hospitality tray. No bar on site (or anywhere to buy even a bottle of beer to enjoy in the room) and only junk food dining (we don't regard a choice between kfc, Pizza Hut, McDonalds and the usual motorway services rubbish as much of a choice). Great that there was an m&s on site but that's no good for a hot dinner.
Staff friendly and helpful. Bed comfortable. We were offered a change of room but declined as we had a lot of luggage and two dogs we would have to relocate. Toilet used and unflushed. Basin dirty. No sugar and tea bags with hospitality tray. Epos machine would not accept cards and after 4 attempts had to do it manually and there was no spare machine available
Daysinn Peterborough was easily accessible from major roads and handy for town shopping centre. Pleasant stay
The staff were all very helpfull and polite. The bedroom was very small not quite what I expected for an executive room and very noisy being above the front of the hotel.
Location - it was close to where we were visiting Not great value for money.
shower very poor no preasure. room 319
This is our 2nd time staying here and we have found it on both occasions very enjoyable because of friendly, efficient staff, good food, clean and comfortable rooms, nice gym and pool and an excellent location for our purposes. not a complaint but an observation. Irish bars have a better variety of soft drinks for those that don't or can't drink alcohol i.e red lemonade, cidona and very popular in Ireland, lucozade.
Very clean hotel, good spa and pool, nice breakfast and very pleasant helpful staff Evening meal was absolutely dire - a "medium rare" steak was well done, waited 40mins for starter - bread and oil and what tasted like tinned soup. Vile frozen chips not fresh hand cut. Terrible coffee. Do not eat dinner here but otherwise good hotel
Large comfy bed and choice of pillows, plenty of free car parking Room was very warm and no aircon. Unable to open window more than a few inches. Breakfast rather dried up from being kept warm for a long time
The bar area was very friendly and inviting The heating wasn't turned on in our room - it was very cold on arrival. However your staff were very quick to rectify the problem. Perhaps something that should have been checked before we arrived.
Very friendly and courtious staff
Out of town situation, close to wedding venue. Bar prices.
loved everything the breakfast was fantastic bed was comfortable more than 1 pillow
the shower was unadjustable
Nice if you were staying a few days as there were a small fridge and a mirowave and plates and cuterley in the room so you donot have to eat out all the time
clean and freindly
Really enjoyed our stay, it was clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast in the morning was gorgeous! Fully recommended.
Excellent location; staff very welcoming and friendly. Room well equipped, including microwave and fridge, although we didn't use them as we were only there for one night. Pillows very uncomfortable!
Excellent staff and warm, friendly welcome from Myrna. B&B's don't need to be luxurious but comfortable and welcoming. The Red House scored highly. Lovely back garden to enjoy if you have the time! No
they had a fridge in each room, and a microwave! this is the first uk b and b where we have found a fridge. absolutely magnificant! we had the ground floor room which was great as we had heavy suitcases. the ensuite was huge, with a lovely shower. breakfast was good, and the staff were fantastic. nothing.
The Breakfast overcharged by £7
I stayed for a week and the staff did everything possible to make it a pleasant stay; extra tea, fresh milk. Room 1 was a very comfortable ensuite double room on the ground floor. I did not see the upstairs rooms. No negative comments
Very polite and helpful staff, comfortable room, decent breakfast. The only thing I can think of is that a duvet doesn't really make sense in June ;-)
Bedroom heating was not working properly and there is no lift
Room was clean and of a good size and breatkfast and dinner was nice Some problems with service, e.g breakfast took a long time to come one morning and I subsequently ran late for my meeting, and room service got my order wrong. But thats not too much of a problem as they were very pleasant people
Very close and convenient for station and onward travel by taxi the following morning. The room was far too hot with the central heating pipe running the length of the room so cannot be controlled!! Opening the window made it noisy. Television was not working! Finally the shower head came off the holder and being metal could have caused nasty foot injury!
Very smart, stylish rooms Expensive wi-fi access
Convenient, clean, quiet. Friendly and helpful staff.Good restaurant in the evening.
The convenience and the assistance of the Reception staff.
Excellent quality of accommodation - smart, stylish and comfortable. Wifi costs £10 per day - this is an extortionate price when cheaper hotels provide wifi free.
The staff was rather unfriendly, however, the hotel itself is quite nice. A bit on the shabby side, but it was clean and managing maintaining a quaint shabby which was nice. I would recommend the breakfast the next morning - lovely morning room, excellent food. This could easily be a fantastic hotel if they would bring in professional friendly staff.
Very conveniently located and well run. Efficient staff and good service.
the staff were really friendly and helpfull, in the middle of the night and even first thing in the morning, all staff were very polite and geninue, i enjoyeed my stay, i have stayed before and would definately stay there again, the value for money was excellent and even breakfast was included in the price. no resevations about reccomending the hotel to anyone. no complaints at all, very happy
Just a bed for the night Uncomfortable pillows and the bed was not too comfortable either
Friendly and efficient staff. Good-sized clean accommodation. Very convenient for eating at the neighbouring Harvester restaurant. Good car parking. Quiet location. Very poor sign-posting on the roads to the hotel location - found the hotel more by good luck than judgement. No information about TV channels available in room and poor selection of TV channels - why not provide all Freeview channels ? Poor quality TV picture.
Close to the motorway, but pleasantly quiet. Nice sized rooms. Very clean. Nice breakfast. Pleasant and efficient staff. No, everything was great!
The staff desire to help and be friendly ...we actually felt very welcome
Quiet location at time of year Breakfast exceptionally poor. It was not as advertised as a 'continental breakfast' Seriously suggest a visit to mainland Europe.
Good parking, location, price. Rooms clean. Lack of fresh air, rooms were hot and so was the corridor. People checking in at 4am and being noisey about it! Why are they allowed to check in at this time!!
Friendly staff on reception.
Friendly, comfortable and affordable
Friendly welcome, clean comfortable room, quiet location
Lovely historic building in process of refurbishment and redecoration.excellent food in restaurant . freindly , helpfull staff couldnt help enough with any request. Some work still in progress.
Friendly, helpful staff and very nicely decorated rooms throughout the hotel. The location of the hotel was especially good for access to the town centre. There was a slight problem with slow service at breakfast on the second morning.
Good breakfast, nice lad on reception in the morning, nice flat screen tv although had to tune it in ourselves!! Hotel not recieved our booking, they had a wedding on luckily they had a room, although I dont think that it was the executive suite we had booked by looking at the picture when we got back, the room was across the yard went straight on to a beige carpet which was dirty! Told no dining that evening due to the wedding (are they allowed to do that) good job we were going out for a chinese.
All good except as stated below. Restaurant excellent. This is the second time I have booked this hotel online using this facility. The first occasion my reservation was made for the day before I arrived in spite of my confirmation showing the dates I booked. On this occasion the hotel had not been notified of my reservation and therefore had no record of me. This is not acceptable after a six hour journey to get there and find there is no room.
The staff were excellent. All meals were to a very high standard and the service was excellent. The jazz band at Sunday lunch time was a nice idea.
Standard of room and bathroom were excellent. Breakfast was first class. Hotel very stylish. Not really apart from room overlooked road and could be a problem to light sleepers.
The location by the river and an easy walk into Town. Hotel facilities good and friendly staff.
Stayed at Cley Hall for 1 night whilst visiting family. Excellent location, excellent room, very clean, staff extremely helpful. Excellent breakfast. Cannot fault Cley Hall. Would definitely use again
The room was modern and tastefully furnished. The food was well presented and tasty. Looked a little rough from the outside
Excellent location 2 mins from town centre, opposite river. Tastefully restored elegant Georgian manor house. Very well presented rooms and annexe. Large rear well kept garden and terrace. Ample car parking. Excellent full English breakfast, using some of the finest sausages. Very helpful, polite staff. Relaxing lounge, elegantly furnished with free papers, leading to full modern bar. highly recommended, very pleasant stay
