view , location and room was lovely
Excellent new swimming pool restaurant prices
Lovely room with lake view, even though hotel was fully booked never felt crowded, plenty of space in lounges etc. Plus point was the car park - last time we stayed 40 years ago, no parking so was a nightmare finding somewhere to park! This time they even offered for us to leave the car still parked after we checked out so we could make a trip on the lake before we returned home. Just a shame we didnt have time to use the Spa & pool - last time the pool was actually outside! Just one comment - obviously not checked that the toiletries & milk were " topped up" when cleaning the room after previous occupants
The confort of the bedroom and the swimmingpool. The reception staff were very helpful. We had no problems.
The aspect of the Hotel was breathtaking, all the staff were polite , helpful , presentable and a credit to the hotel. The food and restaurant service were excellent,as were the bedrooms and housekeeping .No. No.
The ambiance ,location and views
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well as very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and all seemed to enjoy their work. Very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel as a result. Difficult for us to make wi-fi connection with our iPad. Meant we had to go to Costa Coffee nearby for an awful coffee when we would have preferred to sit in lounge at hotel to use it.
the premises was clean and the beds were very comfortable, staff were rude/unpleasant to you in the presence of other guests without the slightest care , i find this embarrassing and unacceptable for a hotel of such status
The location, the staff & the service were all briliant The bedroom was far too warm at night, despite turning the radiator off we had to have the window wide open and then there was much noise from ouside so we did not sleep very well.
the morning view over the lake - priceless
From the moment of arrival the staff were exceptional. A beautiful hotel.
Friendly and efficient staff, lovely setting and excellent food
We loved the relaxed quiet atmosphere, idyllic location, helpful friendly staff who nothing was too much for and beautiful views. We did not like the a la carte menu and the fact that we had to order vegetables and potatoes seperately.
The attitude of the staff-very accommodating, the hotel was generally to a very high standard, including the food, I could not praise it highly enough Nothing
We only stayed for the night but the stay was one of the best we have ever had ,and we do travel a great deal! The welcome we had from the staff was fantastic! NOTHING
An excellent hotel with very friendly staff and superb facilities. Can't think of anything
We thought the meals were a bit rushed, more time between would have been nice, one plate removed before the other had finished, food was excellent. no real complaints, would have liked the sauna to be working.
Very friendly staff, excellent facilities
Food of a very high standard. Bed very clean and so comfortable. Staff very polite and helpful. What more could one ask for?
Very relaxing. Would like to have stayed longer.
The rooms were nothing like the internet pictures and the swimming pool was poor.
The view from the hotel was breathtaking, we were lucky to have the view from our room also. It was very peaceful and gave myself and my fiance time to relax and enjoy our surroundings and time together.
Lovely view - good surroundings - swimming pool - helpful staff - great dinner
The views from the hotel were breath taking The rooms were very noisy and you could hear people just walking to their rooms as the floor boards were very creaky. therefore we found it very difficult to get to sleep
Location and the friendly staff Lack of comfort in the Bar area, no music (even background music though there were speakers) Decor needs to be touched up. A very large hotel with great potential, excellent pool area - not really suitable for children. Only one lounger
the location was fantastic. hotel was a bit dated, could do with a bit of a revamp, and a bit pricey.
Our room had recently been refurbished and was comfortable and modern
we liked the beautiful view from our bedroom, dining room and bar over Lake Windermere.
Location They were not able to accommodate my family and myself in 2 adjoining rooms - we were in different buildings. I had specifically stated that we had a child and needed an extra bed on the booking but this was not noted by the hotel until I called and confirmed my reservation
Close to Bowness-on-Windermere town centre. The cooked breakfast was really good. The shower was not particularly good as the water temperature fluctuated between very hot and very cold no matter were the controls were set.
Room is comfortable and spacious. Liked the privacy of being away from the main house as well as allocation of parking space for each room. Very generous with the amenities like tea, coffee, toiletries etc. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of fruits and cooked meal. Lounge for guests was welcoming and free internet access was also available. Location to the the town and its surrounding attractions was excellent.
this hotel was a present it was fantastic
Peaceful, relaxing, excellent location, staff friendly, convenient for local amenities and lake windermere. A good hotel which I would consider staying at again especially if prices lowered via discount. All satisfactory.
Nice Relaxing Hotel close to town nice food and friendly staff wi fi internet access in room did not work but was not essential for this stay
Lovely staff, excellent location and gardens Nothing to dislike
Convenience to countryside/lakes. Good en-suite facilities.
water temperature - difficult to maintain temperature in the shower, and balcony doors would not lock
Good location with the lake and town within a few minutes walk. The hotel was very clean with good food and good service. Noise from loud guests next door could be heard through walls.
Comfortable lounge with games for children to play. Convenient location for walking, pubs and restaurants.
Good and clean, and polite staff An option for dinner or takeout should be available, even if it is a sandwich bar
The breakfasts. We didn't like the size of the shower cubicle and temperature of the water.
service was excellent, very friendly staff. quality breakfast. it was a bit tricky getting in and out of the car park.
very nice hotel. and very good loction.
Extremely friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Close to centre of town. Would have liked a bath rather than a shower.
Pleasant staff, the furnishing were nice. The bed was really uncomfortable: I could feel every spring in the mattress. The establishment presents itself as a 4* (and charges correspondingly) so an even an average bed is a reasonable expectation. I think there may also have been mold growing on the bathroom ceiling where there had been some water damage that had never been properly fixed. Just not what I'd really expect for the money paid, even in a somewhat pricey district.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast excellent. Difficult to get into car park, tight parking, but at least there was one.
Excellent accomadation, pleasant staff and good food with reasonable bar prices.
staff were very good and it is in a good location.
the hotel is in amazing condition ,very very clean and the attention to detail is outstanding, with hotel staff that love there job,the food is local and very good
The owners Jonathan & Caroline were very caring and helpful. It was a great experience staying at Cedar Manor. Breakfast was excellent.
The hosts....Jonathan and Caroline could not do enough for us. The break was booked as a getaway to escape a 40th birthday! They spoilt me with breakfast in bed and a personal card. They are lovely and sincere people, despite a guest that had clearly had too much wine!! I would recommend the place to everyone(especially the restaurant....steak to die for!) we will most certainly be back Non smoking but I can live with it!
Very peacefull enviroment with fine dining at its best, me and my partner were really impressed with the attention to detail during the evening meals, and their homemade bread, soup and deserts are fantastic.
The location and service
The staff's attention to detail was faultless. The ambience was comfortable and relaxed, and the food was excellent.
The owners were delightfull and made us very welcome, the food also was superb, the whole experience was very pleasent.
Very friendly atmosphere. Liked large hot towels in bathroom! Would prefer slightly larger room but probably typical for style of building
Attentive, friendly and helpful Owner(s) and staff. All excellent. Nothing
It was very quiet, peaceful and very central for getting to other places. The breakfast was excellent. Parking was a bit tight at busy times
The food in the restaurant was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable with excellent facilities. N/A
Interior design and standard of room N/A
The finish and the comfort of the rooms and the quality of the breakfast. The service at dinner was slow but the food was good when it came.
The hotel was very luxurious and the staff were incedibly friendly and helpful. The location is great. There is plenty of parking. I liked the selling point of the dog on the bed. Of course Sam came home with us. I will be staying there again in the future.I have recommended the hotel, and my friend is going next month. Nothing we didn't like
The room and hotel where fantastic
Comfort, cleanliness, great staff and in a superb location Great food and service in a pleasant restaurant but most ladies sat and ate with cardigans on or jackets over their shoulders as it was mid Jan,cold outside, but no or little heating was on in the public areas
Mainly relax!!look around the sites Parking
Great position just on the lakeside. - Responsive General Manager.
Rooms were clean, warm & had full amenities incl iron. No lift & no help with luggage for disabled. In fact there was a staff lift which could have been offered but was only mentioned as we were leaving.
The bed was to die for, food fantastic, great location and ambiance. Highly recommended as a great weekend retreat. The shower was disappointing. Always prefer a glass screen to a clingy shower curtain.
The communal areas of the hotel were very atractive, the staff were very helpful and the view of Windermere from the hotel were beautiful. The hotel looks very old fashioned from the road, I was wishing I had booked somewhere else after seeing it for the first time, however this changed once we got inside. The room we were in had extremely thin walls, we could here everything in the next room. I also hadn't realised how far away from the town the hotel was, and as the bus service is not great around the hotel area (a fact that is mentioned in the info pack in the hotel room) it meant taking the car out each day and paying a small fortune in the car parks.
Please write at least 15 words , big rooms, lovley location, helpfull staff. Poor TV no bbc1 during my stay missed my fav program, high standerds but I was very surpriesd to see wallpaper falling of the wall at room 54
food and other service none
The views from the room were fantastic over windemere Our room could have done with a little re-decorating as the wallpaper was chipped in places and the fan made a loud noise when turned on in the bathroom until you gave it a "light" tap.
the evening meal was excellent and excellent service our room had obviously previously been a smoking room. There was a strong smell of ciggarettes which let the room down badly. And the bathroom was far too small for the size of the bedroom.
The room was lovely with stunning views of the Cumbrian mountain range and lake Windemere. Hotel is well situated for walking. The pool area was very nice and it would be even better if in the colder months the floor to ceiling glass were wiped of condensation so that the views could be seen from the pool in the winter. A small touch that would make a big difference to guests.
We were well treated, the staff were helpful and approachable. A good quality hotel and we would stay there again.
Location, Style Price
The ambience of the lounge and restaurant overlooking the lake was superb. The breakfast was very nice. I was very disappointed after staying in many other hotels not as expensive as the beech hill with the size and decor of the room.I paid for my friends a night away with us for a wedding present but really was not impressed with the room. £150 for bed and breakfast was extortionate.I expected really nice rooms with a luxurious feel. Unfortunately we didnt get this.I had read on reviews similar comments but i always like to give places a chance.
The quality of the decor and furnishing was excellent and the centrall location in Grasmere was perfect. Please write at least 15 words Lack of table seating for breakfast.
Beautiful rooms, beautiful setting, very relaxing
The Hotel was very comfortable for us and welcoming to our dog. The hot tub was great after a long walk out on the hills. The breakfasts were very good with a wide variety of choice both hot and cold. The Hotel lived up to its Organic billing.
The spa bath, the furniture in the room. Extremely comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was too hot even with the window open! it would have been good to have herbal teas in the room.
very high standard of accomodation very conveniant whats not to like
Everything about the hotel was perfect, in a really stunning village. Thankyou for a great stay. Will be back
we wanted a quiet relaxing break for a couple of days and we got it. The hotel is very clean and the room and bathroom was fabulous. The buffet breakfast was great...a nice change from the typical fry up that you usually get in hotels. WE liked teh self service idea of it all and were able to relax in teh comfy sofa's eat our breakfast and relax with the paper
The bathroom, the location and the breakfast were outstanding! My partner and I found the beds to be uncomfortable and it was very hot on the third second floor, even with the heat turned off.
The room was excellent and very spacious, with a lovely bathroom. The whole hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming.
The Hotel was beautifully decorated a real treat to stay in such lovely surroundings, very clean. Our bed and pillows were so hard I hardly slept but that was our only complaint.
Being so close to Windermere village we could eat out at night and not worry about driving. The building opposite belonged to BT and was an eyesore.
Very pleasant owner, room comfotable, warm and clean. breakfast excelent.
it was very clean and tidy and food was very nice and all staff very friendly and we would stay again shower in room the water presure was very bad and ashtrays needed with seating outside not sure about no door on bathroom think i would have liked one
The atmosphere was peacefully and very relaxing. A place to unwind.
Very comfortable room and standard was good throughout hotel. Good location too.
The brakefast and the quiet rlaxed atmosphere, nice and warm and a good bed.
Very pleasant and friendly hostess. Fine facilities and room spotlessly clean and comfortable. Super breakfast, excellent service.I would definitely stay again and will recommend to collegues.
Friendly staff. Beaumont House was clean and smart and very tastefully decorated. Rooms were large and small touches like the cotton wool pads and tissues for removal of makeup was a very nice touch.
ability to relax
The location is very good, the b&b clean and tidy. We stayed in the double or twin room which had a large double bed plus a single. Breakfast was nice too. The bathroom was small, but functional. There was just enough room for a shower toilet & sink. Possibly a little on the expensive side...
The friendliness N/A
Lovely place to stay - staff were very kind and helpful and the room was very nicely decorated.
it was close to the shops and warm and dry rooms were not as big or nice as looked on website.
Marie, the lady in charge, was very helpful. As it was a city guest house, it was good for shopping. The breakfast was excellent. The shower was very clean and loved the shower gel/shampoo. Marie was able to cancel as we left a day early without a charge; much appreciated. We did not know that the parking was a distance away; difficult for getting to, tho Marie offered to take us down to our car. I thought there was a spa available, but not so. I thought it was a country place from the look of it, but it was city and not what I intended to stay at. We thus had to cut short our stay as there was not a twin bed room availble, tho one was on the top floor and my friend could not go up staris very well. It is not for disabled; we thus did not get our "lake view", which is what I was hoping for. The price seems to be high compared to what we stayed in in Stirling, Scotland. Same price, but not as elegant. Belsfield is good for low budget, tho the price was high; probably because it was city/lake accessible.
The host lady did her best to help no matter how big trouble we brought to her. My family and I stayed there for three days. Everyday we were treated like her families. We appreciated deeply what the host lady had done for us. This guest house is tastefully decorated. Breakfast is big and tasted delicous.
Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Did not need to use the car during our stay.
Exceptionally clean and comfortable guesthouse, with attentive staff, smashing breakfast, location excellent
the cleanliness of the hotel and the facilities offerd also the location to Windermere pubs and restaurants was sot on Only 1 thing I'd want to raise, we were away and wanted to relax maybe have a lie in and would have preferred breakfast to have been a little later
friendliness of staff, close to all amenities and lakes
As per radio buttons above
Comfortable room, friendly service and nice breakfast.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was small but as advertised. Walking distance from station even pulling suitcase. Bus close by. Great breakfasts! Toilet flush system was noisy and not reliable.
Knowledgeable, friendly, informative staff/owner. Location was in a neighborhood with several other B&B's but all had a nice street presence with beautiful flowers and foliage in the yards.
Nice welcome, excellent freshly cooked breakfast, good value None although shower room due for an upgrade (room4)
Clean, comfortable room. Friendly owner. Fairly good breakfast. Bathroom was quite small.
The hotelier was very pleasant, the hotel was extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was to a high standard. The breakfast was very good and next time I stay in Bowness I would definitely stay there again.
lovely rm. Breakfast excellant, friendly people , excellant restuarants down the road. loved our anniverssary break , highly reccomend , Martin and Maria made our anniversary nice, even suprised us with a bigger room.Thankyou , would def stay again.
Room was clean and warm and all facilities were in good order. Breakfast was very hot and very tasty and Mr Morris seemed to make a very big effort to ensure everyone was served with the breakfast they wanted. Don't have any bad points really.
the room was really nice. bed was really comfortable. power shower was excellent. at breakfast the service seemed very rushed and we did not feel relaxed during breakfast. continental breakfast was a croissant
Very nice hotel, lovely and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Nice food and friendly service. Would go back again. No bad points
The ower made a very enuine attempt to make us welcome Parking was cramped but adequate
the room was beautiful as was the rest of the hotel, ideal location just minutes walk from everything. a really pleasurable stay!
Friendly people, lovely room, excellent stay, None
Excellent location, beautiful views!! Room slightly dated.
The staff were always very polite and friendly
Excellent location. Nice modern bar and restaurant area. The standard double room we had was quite dated and needed a bit of a facelift!
ease of booking there was damp on the walls of our room
good bar and reception area room on ground floor in a far end of hotel like a maze overlooking the car park they are hotels in the area with lake veiw for half the price also very tight on the full english breakfast wouldnt stay again for that price unless it was a superior room
checking out of the hotel was the best part as the hotel staff were rude and the room wasnt cleaned properly and very uncomfortable the hotel staff were rude, the room cleanliness was poor.
Excellent accomadation very clean although the room was a little small, the breakfast was top class, the hotel had a restuarant which was very popular although we did'nt use it.The staff were extremely friendly
A fabuluous experience which is outside the norm. Lovely small Hotel with a top class restaraunt with superb food. The people are just wonderful and interactive. By the way, the wine is excellent! I cannot believe that anyone would ahve something to write in this box!
Close to all amenities. Parking. Excellent food. Quiet location. Cold shower, but quickly tended to by staff.
It was nice and peaceful in the hotel which made for a excellent stay
staff were friendly, room was very clean as was en-suite. location was great close to shops and not far from local attractions. found the room to be a bit chilly during the day.
Staff friendly, food good. Bed was too small - not really a double. Room too hot - kept turning heating down, only to discover it had been turned back up again...
Warm and friendly welcome. Very good restaurant. Nice location None
The Welcome, The Delicious Food, The Quality of the room fittings.
The Fillet Steak! The Service in General.
King Size room had a most comfortable, Super King size bed ! Lovely dining room with excellent breakfast (Jerichos Platter) Both owners were friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend the hotel to friends. None
staff very helpful, good breakfast The put me up bed was very uncomfortable. Could have done with a bar area
Very friendly and helpful proprietor. Good breakfast rooms clean and tidy.
family enviroment shower curtain very dirty
We were there with our 22 month old toddler and thought that the family room was fantastic. Breakfast was also very good with lots of choice, we are looking forward to staying there again.
the welcoming friendly staff, the superb english breakfast the comfortable rooms. there is nothing at all to dislike at this hotel.
Wonderful homey atmosphere and the owner was great and fun to talk to. Would have liked a little bigger room, but since this was a last minute reservation, it was more than satisfactory.
very helpfull, The weather was raing very heavy and we where offered a golfing umbrella, then some where to park a very wet buggy. None
The owner and the staff. Also the breakfast. New owner, so some things obviously still work in progress - will be much better when completed. Would have preferred flexible shower head as fixed is difficult to use.
Enjoyed the luxury of a large quiet warm room in this gracious turn of the century guest house.Perfect base for exploring the spectacular Lakes District with easy access to local walking trails yet close to tour office, shops, theatre and a fabulous seafood restaurant..
From the moment we arrived to our departure, nothing was to much trouble. Quiet location within easy distance of lake, shops and restaurants. Excellent facillities, friendly staff and superb breakfasts make this a place to visit again and again.
The couple who run it are very helpful and convivial. I was picked up from Fellfoot after I mislaid my car keys. Great place
Very welcoming and happy to help with regard to local facilities for eating. Leisure club whilst not the biggest was a good bonus for a guesthouse. Not really a dislike but the parking was difficult cars having to block each other in. However, any free parking attached to a guesthouse in Bowness is a bonus.
Location & friendliness of staff Room could do with a refurbishment, bed a little squeaky
location was excellent, very comfortable and cosy.
very good When I had been straied in hotel. I was felling good~~
The room was furnished to a high standard and the location is excellent for visits to the local sights in Ambleside The room is just that, a room. When my girlfriend and I visited it was cold outside. I did not anticipate this being a problem but the room was very cold and the tiny heater in the corner did little to help. The room was also situated next to a single glazed window and on a Friday night it became very noisy and disturbed our nights sleep. I feel like if the window had been double glazed the room would have been significantly warmer and considerably quieter. We were provided with tokens for hot drinks but the hot drink machine was out of milk whilst we stayed. Finally the rubbish we generated was not collected despite being collected into a bag for their convenience and placed outside the door.
room was very well decorated and bed was very comfortable en-suite facillity was very noisy when toilets are flushed, taps ran and shower on.
I liked the way the whole place was decorated and furnished. It had everything you would need for a short break. Nothing
Room was very cosy and cute. Small, but very well decorated. Free coffee/ tea was nice. Staff was distant / detached. They were efficient and I don't have any complaints about them, but I didn't feel particularly welcomed to the hotel.
Comfortable accommodation and in a great location. We liked the complimentary tokens for the coffee machine! Our welcome was a bit rushed.
The hotel is very clean and beautifully furnished in a modern style. It is a place where you are expected to be capable of looking after yourself, as befits anyone visiting the mountains. People who complain about climbing stairs have no business in Ambleside! Tea and coffee making facilities have been added to the rooms, as well as the coffee maker on the landing; the bedding was pure cotton; the mattress in our room was indeed memory foam. The top floor has outstanding views towards the mountains. We will definitely stay here again. This is a hotel for people who are independent minded and don't need 'looking after'. We are walkers, arrived on foot, no need to complain about walking to a car park! The downside of being centrally located is the nightlife and sound from the local hostelries. Pay your money and take your choice. We were very contented, enjoyed being in the centre of town, and enjoyed finding our own breakfast in the morning.
The hotel in general was good and the majority of the staff helpful and pleasant the rooms were clean and well equipped. The lack of somewhere to eat after 10pm other than room service. The wardrobe space was a little small but was ok for a weekend stay. Our room key would not open the room door one evening when we returned to the hotel after midnight and we could not find any staff at reception for 20 mins to open the door. The prices for dining and the bar prices were a little high
Lovely room in a fantastic part of the country. None
it was good price, very central. comfortabke and clean it was great!!
The room was stylish and very comfortable, with excellent en suite facilities. Check in at the restaurant next door was fast and convenient as we arrived late evening. We were upgraded to a superior room at no extra charge as they were not busy. Thankyou None
The room & breakfast no
Its central location, between Bowness and Windermere villages and easy drive to other parts of the Lake District. The en-suite facilities.
Great hospitality,location and breakfast!!!
The greeting on arrival was very nice with friendly owners who made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely with a very comfy bed. The breakfasts were very nice. Nothing was too much trouble!!! I would recommend this B and B to anyone wanting a lovely stay in the Lakes!!
It felt like home from home. Nice and friendly and spotlessly clean with a lot of attention to detail. It was raining during our stay and just a little bit of heating in the room would have been nice but we couldnt alter the radiator to turn it on.
Ample Parking, great breakfast, very clean guest house, spacious bedrooms. Nothing to dislike.
Nicely decorated. Nothing
We liked everything about could not fault it looking forward to go back nothing
Brill stay will be back when warmer. None
The attention to detail was absolutely spot on as was the customer service. The room was gorgeous and the bed was probably the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. It felt like a boutique hotl rather than a guest house and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a getaway break in this fabulous location. The owner will not be surprised that the bathroom in rm 3 is a bit disappointing! I believe he is about to sort it out though so it shouldn't be a problem in a few weeks' time.
