The hotel has comfortable bed with especially nice pillows, which is important to me. Many amenities are included that aren't usually. The rooms are pretty spacious compared to most you will find in Grenoble. The design is a little bit 'cold' and not necessarily my cup of tea, but sort of interesting at the same time. The elevators aren't very 'smart' in their programming. Sometimes they switch direction when you expect them to keep going the same way.
Central location A bit pricey relative to amenities
close to railway station. 24 reception, so able to check out early for train. great location on square
To my knowledge, this hotel is the only one in Grenoble to offer a warm, cosy, and tasteful environment, and a bit of class. The location is magnificient. The staff is extremely helpful and nice. There are many small attentions not always found in similarly priced hotels -- free international press, free wifi, free parking, ... Although I warmly recommend the hotel, I has some drawbacks. The renovation starts to be slightly outdated. The standard rooms are small, the beds are the old French standard size beds, i.e., too short for me. Electrical switches can be inconveniently placed, there are too few electric outlets. Street noise is a (minor) problem even with all windows closed.
WiFi and the clean room Street Noise
Great location, excellent value. Nothing really. A very pleasant stay.
The people at the reception, especially the morning crew was very freindly and helpful. There was a rather unfriendly lady at the reception desk, who left the recognition and greetings of guests to her colleague.
The location was superb and the room was nice and warm. Long black hairs came out of the jacuzzi bath when the jets were turned on. My fair haired daughter was in the bath at the time and her body was covered in long back hair. This put me off using the jacuzzi although we had paid extra money for the room especially to have this treat. I re-ran fresh water but when I turned the jacuzzi on the hairs kept coming!! I hope we were just unlucky as all else was clean.
The position of the hotel in the city center next to everything. The room was very small.
Location, location and the scene of alps mountains The staff aren't so friendly beside the room isn't well prepaired
the central location
good location with walking to old Grenoble. food shopping across street. very clean and comfortable. microwave was useful. no parking for arrival and checkin. parking garage difficult to find and small but adequate.
A great place to stay with young kids as gives you the convenience of seperate bedrooms and kitchenette. Reception not manned 24 hours
Balcony space Kitchen too small
Nice alternative to a hostel for a few backpackers looking for a cheap but good room in a convenient location.
Kitchen facilities but no wine bottle opener. Car parking was convenient. We didn't expect an uncomfortable foldout bed in a room of this quality. There is no mention on the website that this room contained a fold out bed. We would never have booked this room if we had known this.
nice hotel, situated very well in the center of Grenoble
It was clean and had laundry services available.
Room was spacious; kitchen facilities just right. Location was perfect -- across the street form two markets, outstanding cheese shop down the block. Tram stop three blocks away. Relatively quiet street. Service could not have been better. None
Good value for money for a family
Localization. It is close to everything I wanted (big square, cine, supermarket, etc.) Absence of internet wireless access, but it offered internet cable access in the room.
Friendly and Clean The food, I didn't like the menu was put off with the 1st thing being Lambs Brains!
Free Wifi and very quiet area
complimentary WIFI Internet access
The staff was very professional, and I loved the swimming pool!
Air cinditioning in room as it was very hot when we stayed there. On arrival there was an extra bed in our room which made the room very small. The receptionist said this was normal as it was a family room even though one had not been requested. Also it was not made very clear that the restaurant was closed at weekends although as there was a coach party in we were able to eat there, meal was very mediocre. Quite a distance to eat otherwise.
Location for transit travel, free parking, free wi-fi access in the room. No
The breakfast buffet was excellent but the coffee was too cold
Easy to find hotel based on proximity to the Hopital Sud. Good location for breaking a journey as it is right by the Rocade Sur and motorway connections. It felt as though we were the only guests (Easter Monday). The bar was not open and neither was the restaurant in the evening. Needed to drive a few miles for a meal and car park was locked when we returned (electronic gates opened once we identified out name and room number on the intercom).
the reception staff were very kind.
location the price reduction made the hotel ok. I would never pay 110 euro for a room like this.
very friendly stuff, nice bar downstairs, good location and it is amazing that this hotel has so bad reviews. Maybe it is because it was just renovated and not new building. housekeeping was not very good, but it is 6 from 10 so not so bad
The refurbished rooms are nicely designed and practical, and I really liked the rain shower head in the bathroom. The size of the room - it was rather small and very condensed.
The rest room has a nice design you dont have full control on the AC, i tried to switch it on but i couldn't
The Decor No Hotel Bar
Wifi for 5 Euro per day is reasonable. Would stay there again.
The staff were really helpfull and extremely polite. The hotel was very clean including the rooms. You had access to a Tram across the road which brought you straight into the old town. The rooms were small but well laid out so it didnt matter too much
The location is conveneint in terms of access to trains. Tl area is however less than satisfactory. Do excrement on the sidewalks and generally cooking smells from the restaurant Internet access is the worst of any hotels that I have stayed in. The internet access was lso not free. If the Hotel is selling vouchers for internet access, they should make sure that the access I savailavle from any room located anywjhere.
Excellent location by the railway station and tram outside the door to the town centre. Excellent weekend rate for a smart hotel
Location excellent, good breakfast, Internet very good, rest average Room pretty small, though not unusually small for Grenoble; TV didn't always work
excellent location, close to bus and train stations but only a short walk into the centre of town. very helpful and friendly staff. Bar prices
Central location was good, rooms and breakfast were very good.
almost everything The hotel is at a quiet location. It should be possible to open the windows. Much better than ineffective air conditioning
good staff, location and free internet, flexibility in extension of the stay when required. sad that the breakfast is not included in price
i was having a 2 day meeting at the chamber which is in the same building room temeperature hot, cant open windows and when i moved to a room where i could it was very noisy outside
The location is very nice. Being close to the train station but not noisy at all. The room is clean. Additionally, there are fitness rooms and free xbox360 to play in the lobby, which are awesome choices in spare time of business trips. Also, the staff are very nice.
The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Facilities as businessman was also very good.
The hotel has a nice lobby and friendly staff but it is not centrally located for those that wish to tour the city. My stay was disappointing. Internet access was pricy at almost 25 euros for 24 hours. There was little hot water one morning and the room air conditioning was anemic at best. There are better hotels in Grenoble that are more centrally located with lower prices. I suggest the Tulip Inn Hotel Angleterre which is on the edge of the Old Town or the family run Trianon.
Nearness to tram way No
Bed Advertizing picture in Hotel litterature does not reflect reality. Example: Pool has not been cleaned for 200 years....at least it does look like it!
friendly staff, clean & comfortable room. Although on the outskirts of town, had easy access to city centre. no complaints
Great service from attentive staff.
It was in a bad part of town. Around many abandoned buildings and nothing to do.
We needed a cheap hotel to stay overnight on the way to spain. The hotel is not in the city-centre, but in a very good location if you are by car. The Hotel was clean and the receiption team was excellent. Breakfast seem to be very expensive with over 12 Euro and it was not clear before booking the hotel that it is not included in the room. The hotel equippment in the room has seen better days!
Location close to city center and our room was comfortable. Windows are sealed.
The personnel The very poor quality of the television (screen), room cold, bathroom not very clean
breakfast not good
Very nicely decorated in cheerful colors. Extremely friendly staff. Conveniently located close to trams and near main library. Excellent A/C and great free WiFi. Rooms are effectively sound-proofed. Shower was quite small and dark, thanks to an annoying blue shower curtain. Bed was so-so.
I liked the location which was really close to the city center and the tram station but... The room servce was unacceptable ( I came back from my city visit tired and looking forward to having a nice rest but what I found it was my bed linen was the old one and they didn't even arrange it properly! ). Besides, they didn't even have the do not disturb tag and many times the housekeeper interrupted my sleep. Another thing that really concerned me was the attitude of the receptionists who always talked in french with me even though it was clear I couldn't speak it.
The breakfast was the best for my France trip so far. It was a short walk from a Tram stop. It took a while for the staff to attend the front desk. I didn't think the service was represented in the price of the room but these days everything seems to be price tagged over worth.
Good value. Close to Tram Line C so good for the University campus, otherwise a little out from the centre (10 minutes' walk).
the kindlyness of the staff and also the brfeakfast enough... the room was too row...
We needed a nice and uncomplicated hotel and everything was according to our expectations. No luxus class, but we didn't expect that. Clean, nice crew. And: free internet \o/ The coffee could have been a little bit better but breakfast in general was fine.
kind staff, the proximity from the tramway station i did checked that the breakfast was inculuded at the price, however while i was having my breakfast, the owner told me that there is no reason to offer my breakfast and that i should pay for it. finally i didn't pay for it, because the owner found that was miscommuncation between booking.com and her hotel but anyway that was very unpolite to approach to client during having meal.
The services were great.
Good location - within easy reach of the centre plus some nice bars closer at hand. Pleasant staff (including 24-hour reception). Breakfast was good value. And Grenoble itself is a fine little city. There was a lot of building work going on nearby during my stay, meaning noise in the daytime plus quite a lot of cement dust around so the air was drier and less pleasant than one might have hoped for in an Alpine city.
Recently refurbished so rooms were modern and quite stylish. We just overnighted and didn't have breakfast so can't comment on the food. Free parking was great and we are walkers so it was fine to walk to a restuarant for dinner. Breakfast seemed very expensive compared to other hotels we have stayed at. A more reasonable price may get more takers.
The hotel is newly renovated. The rooms are a little bit small but very clean and decorated with a lot of taste. The staff is very friendly and ready to help you with any problems you might have. Everything is well organized from the minute you step into the hotel untill you leave the premisses. The hotel has it's own parking place which is very rare for hotels in french cities. Not much to say. Maybe that the room are a little bit too small.
The stuff were very nice and helpful, rooms are clean , they offer me free breakfast because i faced some problems with internet .
Visiting the surrounding area for walks Was a little of a trek out of town particularly when the buses stopped running after 9.00pm but during the day the bus service to the center was excellent
The hotel was confortable, with air conditioning and cable. Not bad for the price. The room was not clean. Note that the hotel is not in the downtown area.
Not mentionned it was not in the center, but 10 minutes by taxi
Clean and comfortable. Waiting 2 hours for extra pillows for bed. Limited staff did seem to be busy though.
Almost everything was fine. We were given one towels set only. Internet connection had some problems. Breakfast way too expensive, but there's a boulangerie just in front of the hotel so we had it there. Quite far from the city center.
1. very good room service 2. excellent hotel staff, very nice and helpful: e.g. recommended a very good restaurant and gave directions, completed with a map of Grenoble 1.does not have tea/coffee making facilities in the room 2.thin walls - noisy early in the morning
Location of bedroom....also there seemed to be a musty smell in the room
Very helpful staff, excellent dining
Beautiful grounds with great privacy and good location near Grenoble (5 mins by car to centre). Fabulous grounds and pool and food quality was absolutely top class. We ate in hotel one night and it was a wonderful meal. Expensive to eat but well worth a visit for the cuisine. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No proper air-conditioning in bedroom and it was a bit uncomfortable in the heat but it is an old building with lots of charm and character.
The chateau is set in beautiful surrounding grounds & gardens that you can walk around & relax in. The staff are friendly & relaxed & the rooms are quite large. As we had a car, the fact that the main town of Grenoble was some distance did not matter, however this could be an issue if you did not have a car. There are some lovely drives up into the mountains. The restaurant was quite expensive, but the meal was top notch, & beautifully presented.
All hotel staff very friendly and helpful and most spoke excellent English.Good walks in woods above hotel. The room wasn't particularly clean. Blood on the wall just above sanitary bin. Also my wife thought she had been bitten by bed bugs.Food very elaborate and expensive. For lunch we had one course each and one bottle of wine, no coffee for 111 euros. The sea bass was not fresh and the fillet steak ordered presque bleu arrived very overcooked and tough. The hotel was rather depressing in appearance and shabby.
The location and the room style. The self-service breakfast (witch automatic machines for the coffee). Some years ago there was a very accurate service, at the same level of the castle charm.
I was looking for a hotel close from the train and bus station and also close from the old city center and this was perfect! It is also close from the great attraction of "the bastille" a fort on top of a hill. Also close from the river. We had a great room with view on the snowy mountains in the back. Our room was purple colors, very modern &nd trendy and with great modern furniture. The bathroom was modern and the shower fantastic. The bed was huge and very confortable. small great attentions like bottles of Evian and sweets. Nice TV and a maximum level for sound which means you cant hear your naighbours TV. Breakfast was excellent and the dinner room colorful. There was a great selection of croissants and yummy french bakery items. There is also a machine to make fresh squizzed orange juice. Staff was very helpful and nice. Only one small minus, there was no safe in the room but the hotel seems safe enough. Would def go back!
The hotel is right in the heart of Grenoble, walking distance from the station yet within the pedestrianised area of Place Grenettte. Hotel itself is unpretentious but it is very good value. This is the third time we have stayed there and plan to do so again. The only downside of being in the pedestrianised area is the sound of the trams running past - but this is only a minor quibble.
The location is extremely central, it's easy to move around as 2 tram lines pass in front and it's only 5 min from the trainstation. The building is historical, and has a nice feel to it. My room had a bad smell, of old sweat and smoke. Only after airing it for several hours did it get less, but every day again the smell was there. Breakfast is not included and costs 8.50 euro. For that, I would expect at least to get a decent coffee. However, the automated machine produced an extremely sweet, hot chocolate alike cappuccino that was impossible to drink. The next day I went elsewhere for breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff, clean room that had been recently renovated and an attractive breakfast room. Felt an effort had been made to update the decor and make the hotel trendy. Only that it was hard to find, even with sat nav. The side of the hotel from which we approached had no sign or indication of it's name so we drove round and round for a while and in the end had to get out and go by foot to find it. Clear directions on booking would be helpful.
Interesting old building, wonderful location on old city square, easy walking to all parts of old city, good clean room, good breakfast, and very pleasant and helpful staff.
Great location. It's very near the train station. The room is very beautiful and comfortable.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location in the downtown by the tram and near tourist sites was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Excellent location. Staffs are all English speaking. Reasonable price. Breakfast is rather expensive.
Excellent location for an outstanding price. It doesn't get more central than this and is a minute away from underground parking.
The superb view across the central square of Grenoble and the mountains. Centrally located, the town centre and public transport are only a few steps away. Good price for such a central hotel. During the stay there were very hot summer nights - which are very stifling in Grenoble as the air doesn't circulate. The hotel has no air conditioning, and no fan was provided. Opening the windows for fresh air meant the room was very noisy. In all, a good hotel for winter, not for summer.
It was in the perfect site. The room was very clean with a great view. The food was exceptional. The people was friendly and helpful.
Being reminded that you get what you pay for The general grubiness
Tea and coffee in rooms. Friendly receptionist. Restaurant staff had very limited knowledge of english language (which matched our very limited knowledge of french language!) No proper shower
Good balance of services, location cost. I always like the ablity to make coffee or tea when I want it.
The friendly staff at reception, always there to greet you with a smile happy and to answer any question you might throw at them about anything. No
the staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent and wonderful view of the mountains from room on top floor.. also good location, within walking distance of the old town.
Comfortable rooms, with modern design, wonderful bathroom, great soft bed & cofee / tea in the room and the option of free parking. If only Internet access was for free, it would complete the whole great experience we had... That didnt change our minds though, that it was a great place to stay.
Clean comfortable room and very friendly and competent staff Jacuzzi/Hot tub was not working = I reported it but did not hear from anyone.
The hotel was well situated for our needs.
Unsual artwork was interesting. Staff in the restaurant were cheerful. View of the mountains was good I was not told that the restaurant would not be open on Sundays before I booked. The restaurant was very understaffed
It was nice room with good restaurant. Sauna club has some space for improvement.
The staff were very accomodating and spoke English. The room was lovely and the breakfast was amazing. The only small problem was it was a way from any decent restaurants, which meant we ate at the hotel, with limited choice. However the meal was good,if a little expensive.
Quality and value I have come to expect from this brand Information in the room said hotel bar close at midnight, however the two members of staff at reception drinking coffee said it was closed at 1120
