9.7 Excellent (98 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anne and Bruce were wonderful hosts. The bed was luxurious, the views spectacular and yes the breakfast on the terrace was a dream. We even had two magnificent rainbows to add to the spectacle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Anne and Bruce were the perfect hosts. They were friendly and informative about the local area. The room, Camomile, was large and full of French character and the queen bed was comfortable. The bathroom had a walk-in shower. Breakfast on the terrace, with amazing views over the valley, was a bonus. The breakfast was varied in some way everyday, with fresh fruit juice, fresh fruit, ham, cheese and warmed croissants and bread. This was a great location for exploring many Most Beautiful Villages and chateaux.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best place we have stayed in several trips to France. It was a fabulous room, outstanding breakfast and friendly and helpful owners. We will highly recommend it to our friends in the U.S.

Pros: Everything about this property was outstanding: comfortable beds, soft luxury towels, plentiful parking, delicious breakfast, and fast wi-fi. The owners are the loveliest hosts who will give you great restaurant recommendations. We tried two of the recommended restaurants and both were excellent. Without doubt, this was the most memorable stay of our trip.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: How fortunate were we to have chosen this beautiful Manoir for our stay in the region. It is in the most stunning location, stylishly furnished and very comfortable. Anne and Bruce were wonderful, interesting to talk to, well travelled and knowledgeable on numerous subjects and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast on the terrace with the magnificent views was delicious, fresh and plentiful. We liked the little sitting/kitchen area that was available to guests as it everything we needed to prepare our evening platter. We would without hesitation recommend Anne and Bruce's place to stay and hope to go back ourselves next time we are in the region.
Cons: A big fat 0

Pros: A very nice holiday stay with very nice, caring and friendly people. We rented the family apartment which was perfectly clean, nicely decorated, had good beds and a perfect (basic) bathroom. Breakfast was very tasty. Fresh croissants, bread and cut fruit, home made yoghurt and jam. A bit of a surprise to us, but very nice, to have breakfast together with the owners: very kind and pleasant company (English speaking is ok). The location is beautifull and quiet, the house is surrounded with a comfortable garden, swimming pool, some gym tools, basketball court and a table tennis. Lot’s of oppertunities to hang around. Location is close by Gouffre de Padirac, Rocamadour, Colonge la Rouge, etc. We had a pleasant and comfertable stay!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The proprietor Anne France features as the Queen of French Clafoutis baking in the book "From the Source: Authentic Recipes From the People" - so with a different clafoutis bake each day for breakfast the standard for the meal was always set high, and didn't disappoint. With bedrooms located within the chateau the whole occasion was a unique experience for us. But Anne and her husband were down to earth obliging hosts in all respects. One often says "we'll go back there again" but this time we really mean it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast , comfortable bed, chateau ambience, marvellous views.
Cons: No tea making facilities in bedroom, no evening food, drinks available.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a beautiful chateau in a gorgeous location. You look out your window and see fields of green opening in front of you, what calm and peace. The only sound is the distant cows mooing. The room had beautiful curtains and bed linen, was tastefully furnished with antiques, the chateau itself is elegant and imposing, a real chateau. Breakfast was included and was delicious with endless choices, I had fresh strawberries to my hearts content. You can't find better accomodation than this chateau.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Newly renovated and decorated rooms. Delicious breakfast. Charming hosts - nothing too much trouble. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: OMG, WHAT A PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the most amazing place I have ever stayed. Off the beaten track so really quiet. Stunning views. An immaculate old chateau, stunningly renovated with no detail left unattended. Beautifully furnished throughout with tapestries, antique furniture, suits of armour, etc. The rooms are huge! Stunningly furnished in the same way as the rest of the chateau, but to modern standards. Best bathroom I have ever seen. The owners? I've never met two more accommodating and friendly owners. They sat with us on the terrace for drinks, provided nibbles and chatted away with our group; made us feel totally welcome. Kept bringing us beer/wine and even a bottle of champagne. Amazing service. It was a bank holiday when we arrived so the restaurant was closed, but despite this, they cooked an exquisite dinner especially for us to save us going all the way into the nearest town (despite the fact they were actually closed!). And the dining room......wow. Fabulous breakfast too. This is well beyond what I expected. Don't pass on an opportunity to stay here, you won't regret it.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. If you can find fault here, I'll eat my hat.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The host, Anne, was lovely and welcoming. The view was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the breakfast was amazing with homemade breads, jams ,cakes and all other foods.
Cons: I would have like tea/coffee facilities and a fridge in the room. These were provided but in a separate building.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place was great. The owner is really nice and welcoming. The chateau is well located in a remote place, very quiet. The breakfast was delicious with home made cakes and bread. The room was spacious, the bed really confortable. The bathroom is modern. I would really recommend this place! Will definitely come back if I travel again in this region.

Overview Reviews
Located in Autoire, Logis Auberge de la Fontaine is in a rural location, a 1-minute drive from Autoire Valley and 6 minutes from Chateau de Montal. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cleaneless
Cons: 1)We spent some time locating the hotel. Tom Tom and Google showed up two addresses, and we spent some time driving between them. The address in booking.com was not exact. 2)curry as part of the evening meal in the hotel restaurant. The menu said: local vegetables. I personally hate curry , and don't expect it on my plate.
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location. Building, bar, restaurant and food all very nice.
Cons: The room was perfectly functional but featureless as in without character (had this in other hotels too, strange in an area that's as picturesque as it gets). Lipstick-pink doors onto corridor were rather odd. The owner berated me for booking a second night also via booking.com rather than rely on the vague reassurance of an evening employee that she'd 'make a note'. I was told I had misunderstood her (I went to a French school, I understood perfectly well and he hadn't been there nor talked to her at that point) AND got accused of acting in bad faith. When I said that no one forced him to use booking.com (some hotels in the area don't, apparently with no ill-effect on their business) he replied that customers like me, who didn't know when and how to use booking sites, were the problem, and that I failed to understand the nature of the French family business. So much for having one's cake and eating it too and then insulting the customer when it's gone. I've never witnessed anything like it in 35 years of travelling, it just beggared belief.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Simple, comfortable, and in the middle of the village, with a friendly, very helpful staff.
Cons: The breakfast was good but the evening meal the night before I'd not come up to the standard of the rest of the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location, good comfortable room, excellent meal.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff. Lovely evening meal.
6.7 Good
Pros: Placement of this small auberge is nice. It has a view on vilage roofs and green hills that surrounds it.
Cons: Disagreeable host nervously reproached us for eating breakfast that we have ordered evening before. To be more unbelivable, breakfast is self-served buffet and there was an abudance of it.

6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good - buffet & lots of choice & very fresh croissant & bread.
Cons: My bedroom was pretty basic & no kettle or anything. Got the feeling that it was very end of season & therefore all a bit tired. Our initial greeting was good though as we arrived quite late

Pros: The location was stunning right on the Dordogne. Really nice restaurant.
Cons: Bathroom could be better.
7.5 Good
Cons: The rooms were quite small.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice location looking onto a pretty village, nice pool and great food in the restaurant with fab view. Would return.
Cons: breakfast finishes too early on a weekend (10am) and check out too early at 11h30 so skipped breakfast and went to local village and grabbed some croissants and coffees in the local shop after checkout. Much cheaper and can sleep longer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The views and location are amazing, the infinity pool overlooking the valley is superb, lovely clean hotel, the staff apart from the manager were fab. Basic room facilities, but perfectly clean and the bed was comfy and changed everyday. Bathroom spotless although separate toilet a bit claustrophobic it hey it’s only a loo. The view from the room is amazing and although I say the room is basic with its facilities, who wants to stay in your room when you have a location as magnificent as ours. Perhaps comfier chairs or loungers on the patio so you can enjoy the views even more, but overall 7/10.
Cons: We had a small issue with the manager or we think he was the manager, we have serious food allergies with anaphylactic shock outcome and he didn’t really seem to care, acted quite blasé and was cross when we had to send food back because of the allergies. Also another illness I have which is M.E makes it very hard for me to cool down, one of our main search filters was air con. When we arrived it was broken and looked like it had been for a long time with no indication when it would be fixed. We even emailed the hotel making sure they had air con and about our allergies. At no point were we told it wasn’t working. With this in mind, I have asked the hotel for some kind of recompense as we paid nearly £800 for our stay, paid extra because we thought it had air con, could’ve have gone elsewhere for less money. Please can you look into this for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a beautiful location, delicious food and a great swimming pool.
7.9 Good
Pros: Quiet small hotel in the country with a GREAT view overlooking a large valley that is miles across. Beautiful infinity pool. Good restaurant. We plan to go back and stay longer.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Something special. Dinner & the views, service & staff make for a very special stay.
Hôtel Le Beaulieu - Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne - Building
17
8.3 Excellent (201 reviews)
Overview Reviews
You'll be centrally located in Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne with a stay at Hôtel Le Beaulieu, and 2 minutes by foot from Church of St-Pierre. Featured amenities include luggage storage, a safe deposit box at the front desk, and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Older and surprisingly large hotel, but well updated, with a fairly stylish lobby and bar area. Convenient to dining options in one of the main squares, and to the main abbey church. Staff were welcoming and particularly kind; we had a problem with our car window, and they ensured we could park it privately and cover the non-functioning window till it could be fixed the next day. Our room had an additional small room with a single bed; probably just what was available but handy as the main sleeping area was a bit small. Nicely updated bath. Good wifi after a somewhat confusing log-in process.
Cons: Soft-boiled eggs at breakfast weren't properly cooked and were going uneaten as we and other guests discovered this; selection was otherwise okay but limited. The weeknight we were there, dinner in the restaurant ended before 9 pm, though fortunately there were other eateries right next door.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I liked the friendliness of the staff, they were polite and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spotless. The food in the restaurant in the evening was very good.
Cons: I think the quality of the breakfast wasn't great for 10 euros each, I would have expected more choice and higher quality for the price. I would prefer if the soap and shower gel were refillable to avoid unnecessary plastic waste with the tiny sample bottles.
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Excellent location but very noisey. A few bars close by so expected some noise but it went on until 3.30 am. No air con in the hotel so on a hot summer's evening you have to have the window open. If you want a good night sleep best give this one a miss.
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was perfect, friendly staff and main reception area was clean. Where our rooms were situated on the second floor the carpets , decoration is poor, there was a funny smell, ? From the carpets, not very welcoming. We appreciate it was exceptionally hot weather but provisions of fans was limited, so we went without to let our friends have the only one available. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: As stated above better decoration and flooring on that second floor accommodation.
6.7 Good
Cons: Restaurant service abominable 35 mins waiting waiting for menus & placing order
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were really helpful, polite and professional
Cons: Room was very small. No tea or coffee facilities in the room. Poor acoustics in the room (could hear snoring from next door). Breakfast not worth the cost.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: All of the staff were excellent during our 6 night stay. All meals and breakfast were excellent and varied. The location was perfect for the towns bars and restaurants and old town. Car parking was easy both at the hotel and in the adjacent square - free. Comfort rooms are spacious.
Cons: Very high toilet seats! Not good for short legged people!!
