Pleasant place, pleasant staff, pleasant town. We have stayed here before and were glad to return. The necessity of having to use the town car park.
Lovely old hotel in a lovely village, we had an excellent value mid-week deal including a very high standard three course meal for us both. Huge room and bed and one of the best full-english breakfasts I've had in a while.
Nicely appointed rooms, friendly staff Fairly small range of lager beer available - was missing my Stella - nowhere to be found in the village.
A comfortable hotel with attentive staff, excellent food close proximity to Dartmoor. We had a room close to the main road and it was noisy at times, but we could have moved if we had asked. Next visit we have already discussed with the Manageress and a quieter room would be provided.
A very warm and cosy hotel with an excellent restaurant and comfortable accomodation Lack of free car parking - had to use public car park down the road.
Relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Well kept hotel. Very pleasant indeed. Only let down by breakfast food and service. Breakfast service was extremely poor every mornng. Food under cooked. Raw sausages. A general lack of everything. A real let down for what what was otherwise a lovely break and a pleasant hotel. Please pass on this comment.
It's close location to our friends. My husband has difficulties managing stairs, particularly going down. There appears to be no rooms at ground floor level. I did phone ahead to check..
Very comfortable bed. Fresh modern room. Clean. Good food. Some rooms located across the road from the hotel. Which means that the hotel are not aware of guests who are drunk and disturbing others staying in the mews. The design of the mews allows nosie from guests entering and leaving to echo around the building and thus disturb others. Staff unsympathetic to problems.
Old world charm Parking was not at the hotel. The restaurant was not open Sunday evening!!
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were satisfactory. The restaurant was excellent I would suggest that the water pressure could be improved as the shower was very weak.
It had a very good atmosphere as it was a family run hotel.
A small friendly hotel with relaxed atmosphere and good standard of food offered on site. (No other restaurant in the vicinity). Perhaps needing just a little 'up-dating' in some of the decoration/furnishing, although it did have lots of character and was very comfortable.
Very welcoming - our stay was a memorable one thank you
Freindly and accommodating staff
We toured around the surrounding countryside whilst my daughter and partner were at a wedding.
My wife and I stayed here because my grandfather was a boarder here in the 1880s when it was Bovey Tracey Grammar School. Without asking we were upgraded to a very pleasant room. The evening dinner was most enjoyable, and the service excellent.
Everything was first class. An exceptional Hotel. N/A
the location was very good. liked the wildlife on the doorstep
Ambience, friendly smiling staff, size of the room, quality of dinner - canapes etc.. None really except I feel £9.90 for breakfast to be too expensive therefore I did not partake
The Hotel was very clean and friendly.
